I called and ordered a side steak with two sides of bacon fried rice. I CANNOT BELIEVE I was charged $13.95 for this tiny amount of steak! I got home and opened the box and this was the amount of steak I received. Look at the comparison of the steak to the rice. I know the steak is naturally more expensive but $13.95 for this!? You get WAY more in the meals. Had I known the side was going to be this tiny I would've just ordered a meal. I didn't even order filet mignon or a special steak. This is usually one of my favorite places to go eat and I normally think the prices are worth it for the amount of food you get but this is just ridiculous in my opinion. Tuesday, 3/10/2020 - With Benihana closed forever, my very good friend found this place and took us there to try for dinner. It's all of our first time at this restaurant. Located in a little plaza with a few stores, hidden in the corner. It's about 25x50-ish size and like 6 tables with 8 chairs to each. Upon first arrival, the hostess was REALLY nice and seated us right away. Our waitress brought us water right away. Came and took our drink orders. We waited about 30 minutes before our chef arrived to our table to cook for us. Our chef, Kenny, did a great job entertaining us. The food portion here was awesome! We didn't leave hungry. Here's my thoughts: Pros: 1) restaurant was clean 2) hostess was very nice. She greeted us, talked to us and seated us right away. 3) Food portions were a good size. We had plenty of left overs. Steak was perfectly cooked and tender. We got it medium rare. Chicken was good. 4) waitress was great. Took our orders and brought us what we needed. Checked on us to see if we needed anything once. 5) waitress brought our rice on good timing. Steam rice was nice and soft. 6) Salad and soup were great! 7) the 2 dipping sauce were good. Love the ginger dip. 8) our table was clean. 9) silverware, cups, and plates were clean. 10) customer service here was great. 11) reasonably priced for everything. 12) our chef was great! Good entertainment. 13) nice atmosphere. 14) 7:45pm, no waiting 15) women's bathroom is clean. There's only 1 stall. 16) I was sharing my food with my little one. And they kindly split my food with my little one with no problem. How sweet was that!! Cons: 1) no cons. Conclusion: we had a GREAT experience here. 4.5 stars I've gotten the oysters here 3x. They are Bluepoint oysters, they come out cold, refreshing and theres no shells in there from amateur shucking. Everytime I come the oysters were decent, very pretty presentation. They come topped with ponzu, masago and spicy sauce. I would come here more often if only they had raw oysters on their happy hour menu. I think 6 were for $16, 12 are $29. Everytime I get the Lynnsanity roll its good. It comes with cream cheese, avocado, lots of salmon and lots of salmon and is torched. This last time I asked for no cream cheese and extra avocado and it was SO good! 5/5 stars Service here has been pretty good every time I've came. Second time my food server was so nice and memorable. The guys who cook try and be entertaining for the patrons. I appreciate the volcano thing they do with the onion and the fast slicing and the food fun. It's a good go-to place for a birthday because its different, and for a first date so there are things to look at and distract especially if the date gets dull. This here is the selling part of the establishment and what sets it apart from other sushi spots. And there has been no waits both times Ive come. 4/5 stars Place itself is decent, its pretty loud in there. Haven't been potty there yet, so its hard to say if its clean. A clean bathroom with well stocked soap & paper towels is very important. My kids love Wasabi. They love the experience here. Every time we visit Elk Grove, they look forward to a dinner and table show from Jacob, our favorite hibachi chef. Wasabi's show, generous portions, and fair pricing is very comparable to those larger chains. And often times, better, in my personal opinion. Highly recommend this dining experience. First time here...went around 7pm. Walked in and didn't realized they did those over the counter grill..wow. Asked the boyfriend to do some yelping but he didn't do enough so we both walked in not realizing they had table grills lol. This is why I can't rely on the boyfriend to do his yelping. Lol We were sitting at the grill at first but we decided to ask our waiter if it was all right if we moved to a single table, and he gladly complied. We ordered the seaweed salad, Dr. Dan and Firecracker. The place was a little bit expensive but the sushis were alright. I liked the Firecracker a lot more even. Okay the Firecracker was fried lol...maybe that's why but also it had a lot of flavors. Overall, service was decent..we didn't need much of anything. Would I come by? We didn't go with teppanyaki and went with sushi instead. We started with the mixed tempura, which was ok. I never had chicken tempura before. My friend and I shared the sushi combo #6. It came with the tiger roll and four different types of nigiri- shrimp, tuna, salmon, and octopus. There wasn't much eel on the tiger roll. I wouldn't say the nigiri was high quality. After I left the restaurant, I realized they never gave us the miso soup that was included in the combo. Oh, we also ordered the garlic fried rice- flavorful and contained a lot of butter. We came in not too long after it opened and were the only ones there. By the time we were done, the restaurant was busy. Happy hour is between 4:30-6:30. If you don't come with a big group, be prepared to eat with random people at your table. It wasn't a problem though. And because the other people did teppanyaki, we were able to enjoy the show. I'm a Bay Area native -moved to sac- so finding out there was a hibachi grill in sac area was something I was super stoked about. I have been here a few times and ordered take out a couple times. Today, my take out salad for my shrimp entree was so rotten that it had it created its own rotten dressing in the box. They told me they prepared their salads fresh today but if you look at the picture, there is no way it was a fresh salad. I wish I could say that it's midday and they may have left it outside but I had picked up my order at 441pm, just a few minutes after they opened. & reading the recent reviews, makes me think that they don't store their food properly and probably should be audited for food safety concerns. read more

My niece LOVES their teppanyaki style grill and wants to come here all the time. Luckily, they have Happy Hour which makes it a bit more affordable. Depending on what you order, the entrees range between $16-18 without adding extras like garlic rice or other upgrades. The grills can seat up to about 10 people. We've taken a group here for birthdays and its definitely a crowd pleaser. They will cook all your food in front of you as part of a show that entertains your group. Depending on your chef, your experience will vary, but ours have always been really fun, especially with kids in the group. It's best not to come when you're starving because it does take a while and all the yummy smelling food is torture as you watch it being cooked. That being said, do not wear anything that needs to be dry cleaned because there's just no way you can do this without your clothing smelling like food. The food is tasty, but nothing to really get super excited about. The waiter was accommodating to my specifications of having my shrimp cooked separately from the steak (ewww beef juice), substituting the house soup (ewww beef juice) for miso soup and having my rice cooked separately with no egg. The other people at my table seemed slightly annoyed but whatever. You got to look out for yourself! With that being said, for that reason I don't eat at Hibachi places often, but it was nice that the staff didn't make a big deal of it. The hibachi was decent. Very buttery. So buttery that I burped up butter all night, but that's the flavor---right? The garlic fried rice was nicely garlicky! Worth the upcharge. The shrimp were cooked well and not overdone. The vegetables maintained their crunch and the ginger soy sauce was what the meal needed to bring it all together. The sushi was meh. Basic. So my party reserved a table for 8 at 7PM. The party ahead of us reserved their table at 6PM but their whole party wasn't there on time so they pushed back out seating time as well to 730PM. Instead of giving their spot up or letting us sit down while they waited for the rest of their party to arrive. Everything on the grill was mediocre for a hibachi style restaurant but the steak was really tender which I'll give that to them. The tempura that we ordered for an appetizer was under cooked and I bit into a piece of broccoli and batter just oozed out. Yes again it was under cooked. Our daughter really enjoys sushi but typically we find that the sushi at a hibachi grill is not that great. WELL this place is different! The food here is AMAZING! Everything is very fresh and delicious. The ambiance is really nice but casual. The chefs that cook in front of the customers are very funny and friendly. Ive been coming here for years and the owner and her family make me feel at home every time i come in. Sometimes, one of the staff will sit with us for a minute to catch up. Its means a lot because this was my Dad and I favorite place and he passed away 2 years ago. The staff still talks about him and always wishing me well. Thank you for that! Best Sushi we have had anywhere! Great menu and they will customize any roll for you. Excellent appetizers. Usuals for us are the Tempura Prawns, Gyoza, and the Garlic Edamame. Their Grilled Combination Dinners are also great. The seating is arranged around the flattop grill where your meal is prepared in front of you. Chefs are very skilled, and it is fun to watch. Excellent fun idea for celebrating with family or a group of friends. Excellent service. It is a family owned and operated business and they treat you very well. Beware the oysters! I came in with party of 7 on Saturday night. We had two oyster shooters and about 36 hours later both me and the other person that had the oyster shooter was terribly sick at nearly the same time within an hour or two. We were the only two that got sick and were the only ones that had the oyster shooters. I'm nauseous, and terribly sick and it hasn't stopped for the past 24 hours and will be going to the hospital if this keeps up. The oysters also were rubbery and that should have been the first sign of bad news. If you come here just don't order anything raw as I doubt the food safety as of now. read more

So, I get this place while being a dine in restaurant. But, as a takeout only restaurant right now with this pandemic, I question a lot of things about this place... First and foremost... you cannot operate as a dine-in restaurant because of this pandemic. You can only operate as take out. Why are you charging a take out fee!?!?!? Your food was already expensive enough as it was, especially for takeout, and then you charge a take out fee on top of it all!! It was $24 for a takeout salmon dinner, plus charging extra for fried rice. This was very little different than a bento box at another Japanese restaurant. It was incredibly disappointing that this cost way more to get very little that was special. Then that take out fee just rubbed even more salt in the wound. Sorry, we won't be supporting this business anymore. You need to adjust to the time that we are having right now, not be making it more inconvenient and hurtful for your customers. read more

To say that I had such an amazing dining experience would be an understatement. I wanted to make sure my aunt had a memorable birthday and so I went ahead and made reservations here for dinner. The staff here helped make her birthday one to remember. I can honestly say that Wasabi beats Benihanas. Our server was Sarah? but our tep chef was FRANK DA TANK exclusively from the 209. He was such a great entertainer and made great conversation with everyone at our table. I started off with the aloha roll and found that roll to be fresh and delicious. The entrees that everyone at our table ordered were great and there were no complaints at all. Frank mastered the theatrics which left everyone in awe. The kind staff catered to our every need and refrigerated the cake we brought without even asking! Everyone at my table ( except for myself) has never experienced teppanyaki before, so it made me happy to know that their first impression was made to be outstanding. One of my most favorite parts about the dining experience was the impromptu comedy show brought on by the employee named Quan. As if the teppanyaki chef wasnt entertaining enough, Quan came by to clean our grill at the end of our meal. I mean.. baby girl. no, I mean his " baby grill." he was hilarious and left us leaving with smiles that were definitely much needed. We came here during their "Happy Hour" period for dinner. This place has family style seating. Each family orders their meal and the chef comes out and cooks on the hot grill in the middle of the table. As you first walk in...this place has modern decor. Nice pics on the walls modern lighting. The end table seating is more awkward when you have one lefty and righty sitting with less space. Lol. Or if you have a young couple sitting together with that EXTRA lovvvving going on. Lol. I don't have the vernacular required to describe food properly, but it's a combination of flavors that hits my taste buds just right.
