Very typical HK-style Cha-chaan-teng restaurant - really nothing to call home about. Their beef vegetable fried noodles with gravy was disappointing. Although the taste was OK, the flat noodles were all stuck together. The bok choy that came with it was too large to even bite into. The only thing good about it was that the dish cost less than $8, which in the City, is considered a steal. My husband ordered the daily lunch special, which for Saturday, was baked pork chop rice. The taste was good but I can tell that it was not baked. It didn't come out with the metal plates that you normally see in other places. The dish came with a cup of soup and a hot beverage. My husband wanted a cold drink, and the waiter said, it will cost $2.25 extra - which is a joke. Really? We are used to an up charge for cold drinks, but $2.25 to switch from a hot lemon tea to a cold lemon tea?! Seems a little absurd. A stand-alone drink without a meal is only $3. Newly remodeled JoJo's is beautiful. Love the concept of ordering and checking off customized menus. Warm and inviting restaurant, catering to the ever-changing OceanAve/Ingleside clientele. The food has changed for the better w/ a bit increase in prices but that's expected. Portions have managed to be the same...come hungry cuz it's a lot of food. Rice plates are ridiculously HUGE w/ a pound of rice. Noodle soups and chow mein had nice bold flavors again tailored to your choice of protein and veggies. We ordered a bunch of apps and they're just ok. We're definitely coming back to try more items. Most plates are 9-12 bucks each and apps are 7-8. 15% off your bill for their soft opening, not sure how long that'll continue. Very nice JoJo's!!! read more

They have a pretty wide variety of breakfast items, both western and eastern style. I really like the ham and egg macaroni so I pretty much just order that every time and it never disappoints! Was craving for HK cafe food and came across this little cute restaurant. I had the baked ham tomato sauce over fried rice, singaporean noodle, and the milk tea. They were all pretty good and I really liked how they give you condense milk for the milk tea rather than sugar. Would definitely come again, but not a big fan of how they place the menu at the entrance for you to look at then order, while the menu on the wall doesn't have all the items. read more

Sometime a girl wants to eat breakfast food during lunch time. Jojo's menu offers breakfast food all day! I ordered the pancake special. It came with 1 pancake, 2 sausages and 2 eggs for $5.70. For the price, the food is pretty much dirt cheap. I like to pour a lot of maple syrup on my pancake. To my surprise in my maple syrup container - 4 dead ants trickled down onto my pancake. The Chinese friend took me here to get the Wonton Noodle Soup because he thinks it's excellent. I trust him for Wonton Noodle Soup. And it was excellent and really cheap. My Chinese friend, 62 years old man, 5th generation Cantonese, divorced, 2 daughters, his grand father went to prison. Hardly any Cantonese speaking but he knows shit. When we were ordering the wonton noodle soup, he asked the owner lady to have some fresh chopped cilantro for a side, to sprinkled over the soup. I did not know what the chopped cilantro for but I know now. The fresh chopped cilantro made the soup Excellent to Sexcellent!!! The Fantastic 4 landed here for early AM meal...@ 8am to be exact and that is the time that this restaurant opens. Matt has passed by here often, but never ate here and tempted to. What attracted us was the early breakfast specials for $2.50 on selected AM meals. Despite the Health Dept scored this restaurant a 82, it can't be that bad, but the price was too good to deny. The four of us each ordered the special. Matt ordered the Chicken and Macaroni soup, which is a Grilled chicken with frozen Peas and Carrots over Chicken Broth soup. Wife ordered the Grilled Cheese sandwich and the kids ordered Sausage, Egg and Toast, and split a order of pancakes. All of our meals, including a cup of coffee (.25 extra for refills)for the adults and juice for the kids for under $3.00 each. Decent meal without putting a dent in your wallet. You can't beat that! Matt decides to comeback here again for lunch time, this time with his co-worker. Matt ordered the Curry Chicken over rice. Co-worker ordered the Combination-Meal package, which was the Mongolian-Beef over Fried Rice and Egg-roll. She subtituted the Fried-Rice for plain White Steamed Rice. Both our plates were good and tasty for $5.50 each. This restaurant also has an affordable special menu from 2pm-5pm. Matt might come back here to check those meal around that time. Today was this fabulous restaurants reopening after construction. Being the loyal customer that I am I decided to go eat lunch at this place. When I first walked in I was amazed at how nice it looked. I was filled with very high hopes for it's new reopening, but that hope didn't last long when we sat down they took about 5 minutes to give us a menu, another 10 minutes to take our order and a good 5 minutes to bring out our food which was decent timing. The food wasn't extraordinary like I remembered before they closed for remodeling. After we finished eating they took about a good 30 minutes to collect our plates and get our bill. As I conclude the once fantastic service with great food turned into a place of chaos and unprofessionalism. I hope next time I come back they would improve back to what it was before. It's not a pretty restaurant. You will not look pretty either. Not good for a 1st date. 2/ HUGE MENU. Let's see, do I feel like Pork Fried Rice? Or maybe Eggs & Toast? Mmm. Maybe spaghetti. No, Garlic Green Beans. Oh, hell bring it all on. 3/ Cheap. 2 Soups, 2 Appetizers, 2 Entrees, 2 Drinks + Leftovers = $21 4/ Fast. Nearly instantaneous. Food comes out in the order that it is ready, not necessarily the way you order it. 5/ Good food. Consider the price/value relationship. Not greasy, though definitely not high end. Better than most. Appetizers: Cream Cheese Wantons (good) and Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings (very good, large portion) Entrees: Black Bean Rock Cod in a Clay Pot (very good) and Sweet & Sour Chicken (a bit too sweet) 6/ Nice Service. Not warm, but friendly enough. We were there around closing time and they were still letting people in. We didn't feel rushed at all. I felt a late-night diner vibe, only with endless cups of tea rather than coffee. When I got back, they still had this breakfast special (before 11AM) for about $3 (yeah really) which you get eggs, sausage, and hash browns. When we got our food, it was measly.. Not even 1 whole scrambled egg, a small sausage, and some oily hash browns.. This was about two mouth fulls of food but then again it was beyond cheap. My friend and I just starred at each other for a good few minutes with the "That's All?" expression.. I may not have been robbed of cash but I was still very hungry. Just the other day, I heard someone ordering take-out - oxtail for one and then hamburger & fries for another. The food actually tastes good/okay! And it's so darned cheap too. So far, service has been quick. Salt & pepper chicken wings - they're small in size, but the flavor is nummy. I was lickin' my fingers. It's family-run - not a fancy place. The filling in the potstickers had an unidentifiable flavor and the consistency of peanut butter. The shrimp and mixed vegetables had heavily overcooked shrimp and undercooked vegetables. And the generals chicken had no resemblance to every other generals chicken I've ever had. No sauce to speak of, overcooked flavorless chunks of chicken and an abundance of undercooked onion. We ordered delivery - hot and sour soup, lemon chicken, and chicken with pan fried noodles. The person who took the order said it would be about 45 minutes but 10 minutes later the delivery guy was at my door - I do live only 3 blocks away but it made me wonder how freshly cooked the food actually was. Since I learned how to cook from my mom, I get pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food. What a family restaurant!! My uncle suggested this place today after a visit to the cemetery. When I say family restaurant, i dont mean like for our family; i meant the owner's WHOLE family works here. The owner cooks, the wife takes orders, the mother-in-law chases after the 8 children who are running in and out of the restaurant cling clanging any thing they find that makes loud noises. Patrons didnt seem to care, they were cute kids. Now for the food. I usually dont like my beans in my red bean drink, but this one was like blended in a blender, the beans were soft and edible. Food was pretty good. They have everything from calamari to xo spaghetti. From clam chowder to chinese porridge. From pan cakes to bitter melon. From french fries and burgers to chow fun. You get the idea. The place didnt look really nice on the inside or out. But the people were definitely nice!! Give them a chance. They have a big screen tv. A fantastic bang for your buck spot in Ocean Ave area. No fluff type of restaurant but it still hits the spot for Chinese American style food. 4 stars for restaurants in similar taste/style. Morning breakfast is $4.50 - 2 sausage, 1 egg, hash browns, toast and coffee! They also have HK milk tea which is also very delicious. There's about 10-15 different variations of this type of breakfast and you will leave very satisfied. You can also order lunch plates, macaroni soups and ramen..: haven't tried these before but who doesn't love a tasty bowl of macaroni soup on a cold day? The food comes out very fast and very hot!
