I'd say this is ~3.5 stars, actually. It's really just a hole-in-the-wall HK place with breakfast options, nothing special but worth checking out if you're in the area and want something decent to eat. I ordered the salt and pepper pork which I really enjoyed, and my bf got the bok choy with fish--I can't remember how the fish was prepared, but I liked it! The salt and pepper pork is a pretty solid dish and I would have ordered more if I was hungrier. The morning breakfast sounds like a pretty good deal as well. A chinese restaurant that lets me say, "LESS OIL PLEASE and BROWN RICE" I thought I could never ask for that at a chinese place. but at JOJOs, i CAN! This place is down the street from my house and it never disappoints me! My family usually gets the usual stuff, West lake minced beef soup, tofu&pork, fried rice with salted fish and chicken, and a bunch of other dishes and they are all very YUMMY to me! They even have breakfast and HK style baked dish too but I have not tried it yet so looking forward to that. They recently remodeled the place so its MUCH cleaner. I usually order to-go since I don't liek sitting at chinese places that are run-down or their furniture looks old, but now, they are much CLEANER looking now! Very IKEA-like. I came here on a weekday at lunch time with my girlfriend. Surprisingly, there were many open tables, we were promptly seated. I ordered the salt and pepper pork chops with white rice, my gf ordered chicken wings with tomato style sauce over white rice. We also ordered a side of salt and pepper chicken wings. I was crazy for ordering so many types of chicken wings, and meat in general. The lunch specials came with a bowl of delicious, soup of the day which had some veggies in it. The salt and pepper chicken wings were fresh from the fryer! It was super hot, but when it finally cooled down and we took a taste, it was quite delicious actually. The salt and pepper pork chops were also of the same delicious nature. There was both generous portions of pork chops and rice. My gf's dish was pretty good too. Not much of breakfast person, so I took my lady to a place that can serve up breakfast, lunch, and dinner at any time! In fact, JoJo's closes at 2am for you late nighters. Definitely, a great alternative to those who are tired of Denny's or IHOP. I loved their greasy Beef Chow Fun (flat rice noodles) and their Bannana Milk Shake. Their scrambled eggs, however, were not mixed well, for their were traces of white spots all across. Yucky! And that's right, I had breakfast and lunch at 9:30 in the morning. Yes, I'm a pig--but only when there's value. So don't front. Towards the end of my meal, I noticed their scorecard hiding upon the front counter. I was real curious to see, especially since I use that famous green piece of paper as basis behind the cleanliness and upkeep of their kitchen and staff. I took a peep of their score and, my jaw, it dropped in disgust. Score was an "80"? I mean how bad (or even dirty), does a restaurant have to be to earn an "80"? I've seen many in the "90" range, but a flat "80" is inexcusable. I won't come back here again unless the situation meets these circumstances: I'm broke, I'm around the area, and I haven't eaten in at least two (2) days. Jo jo's is cheap. It's dirty. And it tastes -Amazing-. I have a sick fetish for places that are diamonds in the rough, and this certianly fits. Yeah, sure, they got a 80 on their health score card. Yeah, sure, the decor is crap and the service isn't spectacular. That's not why you go to JoJo's. You go to JoJo's to get _fed_. If you're a college student, JoJo's should be the first one you call (they deliver). I've taken five people there and eaten for $25 bucks, that and everyone had a ton of left overs for their kitchen. The dirtyness might freak people out, but honestly, it makes the food taste better. It tastes more like someone just MADE it rather than getting it out of a container. It tastes -authentic-. Oh, I almost forgot, their menu is the length of your arm. It's packed with strange, exotic and amazing dishes (try anything with Ginger). You'll always be lost for choice. JoJo's get's a four, (even though it's a five in my heart) because, well, there is plenty of room for improvement. I just don't know how they could improve it without making it more expensive. Really delicious and cheap breakfast spot. From 8 AM on weekdays and weekends they have a $5-6 breakfast menu, ranging from American breakfasts (eggs and ham), Chinese (soup), and fusion (ramen with egg). I had the Hong Kong style pork chop in macaroni soup, which was one of my favorite dishes as a kid growing up. The soup was good and the meat was grilled nicely. In addition to food, the meal comes with coffee or hot Hong Kong Milk tea. The HK Milk tea was delicious! Definitely a spot to grab a quick and delicious breakfast. read more

This review is NOT about the food but about the general delivery service. I ordered through eat24.com for 11am. I was told they open at 11am, so I pushed it to 12noon. It is now 12:25pm. I called eat24 which contacted the restaurant which said it will take another 20 minutes and they are sorry. I think a simple apology is too little for a 45 minute total delay (this is hoping they will show up in the promised time). at the very least I would expect them to contact me saying they will be late and not wait for me to call in. Something any adult should do when being late. They have my order and my number, so why not be responsible about it?! As I said, no idea about the food but service gets a 1 star. read more

Their baked porkchop over rice is horrendous. An indistinct orange sauce over a pair of admittedly tender porkchops. But the sauce doesn't have flavor and the chops similarly have little flavor to them. Where are the tomatoes? Why are there a couple of peas, carrots, and mushrooms on top for no reason? I love this restaurant. The workers there are really nice and the manager is amazing. I live a block away from there and it seem to never be busy. It kind of stuck that their business is not crazy busy because the food is so good. They have a menu where you can design your own foods from American food to Hong Kong style cafe foods. Also another amazing thing is that they also serve break lunch and dinner. They have a variety of drinks to choose from and best of all is the food comes out fast. Isn't that great. The food was pretty darn decent especially for the price. I don't know how they make money. I got a large pancake, sausage and egg for $2.99...and a Hong Kong milk tea for 25 cents. The pancake was like regular pancake. The egg was yummy...but a little too runny. I should have ordered over easy. My only complaint is the tiny sausage...it was literally 1/5 the width of a normal one (does this sound a little dirty?). The bf got pork chop macaroni soup...I've never understood Hong Kong food. This is my go-to take out spot whenever I'm too lazy to cook and am craving some Chinese food. Usually just order the sesame chicken w/ rice, probably one of the better rice dishes that they have. Relatively big portions for around $9. I wish they would give a little more chicken and a little less rice though. Too much carbs, not enough brotein. It doesn't take too long for your food to be done so as soon as you place your order over the phone at home, it'll probably be ready for you as soon as you get there to the restaurant (well, depending on how close/far you live: I live near SF State). Also, slap some of that chili sauce that you have at home on top of your food and you're good to go! I've actually also dined in once and it wasn't too bad of an experience. To be honest, they're used to be a pretty decent place to eat when they'd just opened few years ago. At that time, they served breakfast for $1.99 (what a deal), and the owner only had 1 little girl. But now, things seem to be going down the hill ... the service, the quality of food, the place. Place is dirty ... the bathroom needs scrubbing, please! The owner's little kids and the grandparents are always around, sitting at the corner table (eating, making loud noises, drooling, throwing tantrum, joking, and so and so) ... it's annyoing and disgusting. Food is salty and oily. Price is not so cheap compare to the nearby "chinese" restaurants. If you pay and want your change, make sure you tell that to your server, because they might assume you don't need a change. Helloooo ... why would I give you a 30% tips for your lousy service. This wasn't happened just one time to me! Milk tea is yuck ... tea is not fresh (Okay, it's free) ... well I would definitely not go to eat here anymore! P.S. They have a great lunch special (breakfast too). I've been here a few times and they have a decent menu (not super authentic Chinese though despite the large local following). I've rolled the dice on the dishes a few times but have come up snake eyes, my fiance has had more luck. The good news is that if the food doesn't have much taste they have a really really really good thingy of chili peppers in oil on the table. Stopped by this place while I was out doing some field work. It had decent reviews and I was craving curry. Service: There's something about these Hong Kong style cafes and their terrible service. We'll not terrible, but like... fob service. I sat down and within 1 minute, was asked if I was ready to order. And when I asked for 2 more minutes, those two minutes turned into like 10. Honestly, I have nothing against the service here. It's the same at ABC, DNA, or Cafe Bakery. I swear, they must all hire from the same pool of waitresses. Food: I ordered the Portuguese baked pork chop over rice and it was just like the other cafes I previous mentioned. I came in last night for the first time and was super disappointed to find out that they're no longer a Chinese restaurant. They still have their chicken wings, which I wanted to try, after looking at the pictures on Yelp, so I got an order of the salt and pepper chicken wings and the gan-ba chicken wings. The salt and pepper chicken wings had a good flavor and the skin was completely rendered, which so few places are able to do, but the chicken was dry. The gan-ba wings were fried perfectly and the chicken was tender, but there wasn't much flavor. I had their Hong Kong milk tea, which was basic. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. They're very nice in there and it's possible their other food is good. I'll definitely give them another try and update my review when I've had more items on the menu. I just wasn't expecting it to only be breakfast items and Vietnamese food. It wasn't what I was looking forward to for dinner last night. I rarely leave Yelp reviews, but I wanted to for this one to let others' know that they aren't serving the same menu as before, so you don't crave something and show up to it no longer being available. read more
