After "investigating"... finally got the conclusion of ... a OK place! They have a tons of choices. Breakfast is served all day. Specials are between 2pm and 5pm, which is longer than most, 2.99 per item. However, there wasn't many choices. We tested the chicken wings (3), its just regular fried chicken. I think T28 still has the best wings. I rather pay a little more. We also got the dumplings (4), tasteless! well, at least to me. The drinks will cost 1.75 if you order something from the special menu. Last time I tried their lemon ice tea, its pretty good. My son had the jelly grass ice, he loved it. I also ordered a take out of the taro beef with rice. Its not bad, but could be better. Maybe I should not complain, they do give you a big portion. I had the curry beef over rice, was huge! But still, same old curry sauce the chinese use all the time. Any way, I would give them 2 stars for the food. The waitresses are very polite, they deserve an extra star. We love the food and the folks who run this restaurant. We have dined in, but we usually order for delivery. I would give it 4 1/2 stars, but couldn't figure out out to get 1/2 star. Much to my initial surprise, the egg foo yung is some of the best in San Francisco. I order it every time, plus appetizers. We order our food family style, but I do not share the Pork Egg Foo Yung. There are 2-5 of us who dine together at home. Some of us want breakfast, others, lunch, supper or appetizers. We have ordered all over the menu and have enjoyed all of the food -- some dishes more than others, but would still order the lesser dishes again. This is the perfect place to order for people who want to eat and gab, but want different types of food. When dining in, one is treated like a family member. I have had the pleasure of eating at this a number of times, and it has always been good times. The food is delicious and while I can't speak of the 'authenticity' of the food, I have been told that it is pretty darn authentic. When you visit Jojo's I would recommend comming with someone who is familiar with 'real' chinese food, as they seem to know how to order food that is not actually on the menu (or perhaps they can read the menu, I don't know.) I recommend the 'capitol pork' or one of my favorite-spicy bean curd (I like the little shrooms that come with it.) THe best part is that food is pretty cheap and decent quality. ( I haven't seen flies or rodents or cockroaches running around the dingin room.) I also give them props for their 'family' atmosphere. An example of this is the way they have all the kids helping to make egg rolls. I think it's great. (seriously.) Service was awful. Not sure if I came on an off day; this was my first time here so I can't really compare it to services on other days. When I went in, a guy greeted us with a smile from behind the counter and told us to pick any seat. Then the menu came fairly fast. The ordering was fine (when I say fine I mean HK standard, a little rude, but more the efficient than offensive kind of rude). My plate came fairly quickly, but my boyfriend's food came 10 minutes later. We didn't mind too much since we were sharing and eating an appetizer. Then we wanted to pay, and it took us quite some time to get a waitress's attention. When she came with the bill, I asked her for a box. She gave me the most unwilling look and went "mm" and then went to make drinks behind the counter and completely ignored my request. Fine, maybe she had super short term memory. No one came to our table to get our check and card. Fine, maybe they had too many take-out orders. I went up to the counter myself with my card and had to get someone's attention. The girl swiped my card and left. I stood there and had to try to get another girl's attention as I returned the merchant copy and asked her for a box. The girl did not even look up at me and told some other girl to get me a box. That was it for me. I've lived in both Hong Kong and Boston for years, so I know what rude is. If I think someone is rude, trust me, I mean it. The service was beyond rude. The food was okay. I ordered stir-fried rice noodle with beef, which was a little dry for my liking. My boyfriend got sesame chicken, which was better than the stir-fried noodles. The portions were big, and the price was decent. We also got fried cream cheese wonton, cold ovaltine, and cold honey lemon tea. All were just OK, but definitely not HK food or drinks standard. The menu had a lot of HK food options, but given the poor service, I'm not sure I'll try them all. Perhaps I'll consider delivery. read more

I've been to Jojo's for dinner and lunch, along with take outs. I've never been for their breakfast, which people have good things to say about here about it's price. The same could be said for lunch and dinner. Price is very reasonable for SF (read: cheap) and the portions are friendly. The food itself is above average. Nothing too spectacular. But the price is very attractive, which draws be back here once in a while. Service is average, and the place usually isn't busy enough that you have to wait or anything. i wandered into this place just to see what the hype was about... eh gross the only thing i liked there was the fried cream cheese wontons... i ordered the orange chicken and was pretty unhappy with it... it tasted like orange juice with cornstarch... the chicken wasnt crunchy since it was mostly batter and they just drenched basically half the plate of the sauce which was bland. i felt like leaving the money i owed and walking out... very disappointed... this place is cheap but i shouldnt expect great food here id rather go to ocean cafe at least here the food tastes a whole lot better read more

I took a course at city college's ocean campus for 1 semester and ate here at least once a week. At first I really enjoyed it but as the weeks went on I grew tired of it. They serve up some pretty good Chinese food but a lot of it is fried and unhealthy. I think what turned me off was that the last time I went there they must have used ant or cockroach spray and that's all I could smell while eating my food. That experience ruined JoJo's for me and I stopped going there. Their fried pork chops are good and their portions are huge. I went here a few nights ago with friends. My dad loves this place and said it's pretty good for a decent price The first thing I thought was that this place is kind of small. The waitress was super friendly but she wasn't the check up on you every 5 minutes kind, which is a good thing sometimes. I ordered off the set menu which includes milk tea/coffee, entree w/ spaghetti or rice, and a dessert. I got chicken teriyaki and it was pretty good. It came in a bento box which I did not expect. I thought the portions were small but I ended up bloated. The dessert was a small cup of mango pudding. Overall, this place is not terrible but not amazing and I would return. read more

I order my favorite egg foo young from them! It is awesome, since I order the shrimp foo young, with shrimp fried rice! I took away a star because I asked for three patties and Iget two. I asked for an extra gravy, and this last time they only sent one! I pay extra $0.75 per shrimp and get ten . . . Five extra for the foo young and five extra for the shrimp fried rice! I love it! They have a broad menu, and their pepper fried wings is delicious! Also exquisite, is their garlic eggplant. They have a quick delivery! My main complaint with this restaurant is that their "to go," or "take out" containers are brittle and flimsy, so their can be a bag full of sauce! Not cool! So they had that Hamburger steak on menu and I thought I would get a burger and some fries. I was distracted and not reading what it went with, so in a rush of the waitress, I ended up with some mashed potato, milk tea and broccoli. (I don't like Chinese food). Came out with a big plate of a big piece of burger meat which was cooked like steak. Oh sweet, no bun so less carb, cool. The meat, no flavor., Mashed potato, it came right from the fridge I swear, cold as hell. Only thing that has taste was the milk tea and the small soup. Didn't finish the whole thing. Pretty cool place. We've never been in a restaurant that has both Chinese and American food before. Tried the Beef Chow Fun w/ black bean sauce and the baked rice w/ chicken and crab meat. Both tasted okay... Awesome prices and big portions. A little too much mayb... Service was okay but they don't speak English very well. And there's an extra $1 fee on cards if they have to charge less than $15. We were very satisfied, and we'll visit this place again for sure! read more
