Location is very convenient, right next to Freeway and trolley station. The restaurant is clean and organized. It's a small place but the people turn over quickly. The men selection is pretty good, and you choose what you like at the beginning. That saves a lot of time and keeps the counter sanitized. I ordered regular buffalo chicken hot sandwich. It was prepared freshly and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The buffalo sauce is amazingly good!! Me and the wife were on a Sunday afternoon walk around Mission Valley down by the river and we ended up at Hazard Center. Looking for dinner and not knowing what we wanted, we chose Which Wich. Let me go ahead and tell you that the sandwiches were ok. The wife really liked her tuna and said she wanted to come back. Take note Which Wich, she never states that she wants to come back to a place so you'd better feel honored. As for me, I ordered the Rueben which was really good. Could have stood a little more thousand island on it but good none the less. Now comes the whining. The whole concept on Which Wich is to take a bag that corresponds with the type of sandwich you want and check off the items you want on the sandwich: Type of bread, cheese, meat, condiment. I guess this could be a fun little novelty until I got behind a group of tourists who took a really long time to fill out their bags and still had to have everything explained to them at the register. Nothing to do with the restaurant, the tourists bring something else to mind. I hear the term "Ugly American" about Americans who go abroad and don't adhere to local customs but you never hear "Ugly (Foreigner)" when visitors come here and sneeze without covering up, butt in line, congregate in busy spaces,talk loudly, don't teach their kids manners, etc. Sorry about that rant, I was filling my soft drink and this woman stuck her cup right in front of me. Since this place is pretty much the last place to grab lunch in the mall now, I stopped by for their $5 wed special... if you've read my previous reviews of this location you can see I'm not that big of a fan anymore. The windows haven't been cleaned in months, the floor and walls were dirty, the backs of the chairs haven't been cleaned in over a year! Bits of ripped paper and tape are all over the walls. The ceiling above the food area is disgustingly yellow and gross. They were out of several of things. It took them 15min to make 2 very simple sandwiches and I was the only customer there and they had 5 employees working and the place is a pig sty! I love Which Wich! It's like Subway but with less interaction with the annoyingly rude, part-time, pimple-faced college freshman that is struggling with self-discovery - aka "sandwich artist." They have a station with brown bags and red sharpies where you bubble in what you want and bring it up to the register. And if your sandwich sucks, then maybe you shouldn't be making life changing sandwich decisions anymore. jk. I'm always pleased with my toasty, meaty, spicy mayo creations, and milkshake. They have three sizes and I always opt for the medium since I eat one half and other half usually for lunch the next day and it's still delicious! I always opt for the Italian Grinder sandwich (Genoa Salami, Pepperoni + Capicola). I recently tried the black bean patty sandwich. I was skeptical at first, but it was good and I was pleasantly surprised, usually they're bland but I guess with all the add ons it gave it some flavor. A solid 3.5 stars. One big reason why I choose this sandwich shop over Subway and the like is because they have a delicious crab salad sandwich. Yeah its imitation crab mixed with mayo, but I'm a fan! I also like that you fill out your ingredients and requests on a paper bag to hand to the cashier so they can't say you didn't ask for something. It does take them a little longer to make your order when there is a long line. Also this particular location seems to be run by young adults in their early 20s - which one is the manager? There was any customers and I wasn't sure how to order, the workers didn't help us. Someone walked in after us and obviously have been here before, started to order on these brown paper bags. First time I was here, I WAS greeted by someone at the door who explained the concept behind the bags and marking your ingredient list. Once I got past that speed bump, the rest of the process was delightful. I've now ordered online from them a couple of times and I think their process is really well laid out. The only exception being the bags the first time you visit. Sandwiches are tasty and seem to be about the right amounts for lunch time fare. Though, he felt like they didn't put enough tomatoes in his order. I got a breakfast "sandwich" as a salad bowl. They are very generous with the amount of salad (I got baby spinach) that they put in the bowl. It was enough for two meals (for me). I asked for the dressing on the side. The Spicy Ranch dressing is what brought the whole salad together. Overall, really satisfied with our meals. Quick service. Tons of choices to keep you going back. We walked in and looked at the menu and the gentleman getting the trash out asked if it was our first time (which it was...pun intended) and proceeded to give us an explanation on how to order and what to expect. I visited this restaurant on a Saturday, around 1:30pm, and it still had a fair amount of traffic for that time of day. I had never been to this brand of restaurant - it was a random Google maps selection for "sandwich near mission valley." I wasn't totally sure how to order, but watched a few people and figured it out. There is a large menu board to help narrow your meat selection (chicken, turkey, etc.). Under each category are more choices, like buffalo chicken or pesto chicken. After selecting your meat option, grab a sandwich bag and a pen in the bucket nearby, and fill out the rest of your order. Lots of standard options like cold/hot, toppings, sauces, etc. Take your order to the cashier and pay - chips were around the side, near the bags. I appreciated they had some hand sanitizer near the cash register. :) I went with the buffalo chicken on wheat, with BBQ sauce, bell peppers, lettuce and tomato. The sandwich arrived toasted (though I don't recall asking for toasted) and was sliced in half on the diagonal. It was tasty and I would order the buffalo chicken again. I'm glad I ordered it hot and I'm glad the bread was toasted. It felt like a Subway meets Quiznos sandwich - compact and narrow like Subway, but toasted and warm like Quiznos. read more
