There was barely any coffee taste, and it tasted like Korean Misugaru drink which is mixed multigrain powder drink. More savory than sweet, and the barista roasted the marshmallow in front of us. The graham cracker sits at the bottom so it's a drink you have to chew. Nonetheless it was yummy and I would go back. GOOD This place is a neighborhood gem. It's small, but well-designed and the baristas are always helpful and efficient. Their standard coffee is good, but their speciality drinks are even better. They get HUGE bonus points for carrying Onyx coffee. Hard to find in this area. I love that they have external small vendors come and setup shop outside on the weekends. There is also an amazing book store across the street you can peruse at after. MEH One area they could improve is their baked goods. I haven't been super impressed by them, I think they could improve. Also, I would not come here to study. I am slightly lactose intolerant but the worker was informative of their dairy alternatives and that there was a strawberry cream made with heavy cream. I thought the drink was delicious but $8 for a drink is pretty steep. Even though I went on a Sunday afternoon, street parking was easy to find and the wait time was only around 10 minutes. There is a reason this little coffee shop is always busy! It's soooo good! My sister was visiting and stopped in with her husband during a neighborhood walk with the kids. They brought back a hojicha oat latte for me and I was hooked!!! It was a little sweet for my taste so I now order it 50% sweet and it is pure perfection. The pastries are also as good as they look. Came here on a Sunday - late morning/early afternoon. Pretty busy and bustling for a small little coffee shop located in Tustin. Street parking is available and there are some seats indoors. Wouldn't particularly recommend staying here to do work or study since it does get pretty loud, but it's a good stop for a quick bite or sip of coffee with a friend or on your own. I went at about 8am on Sunday, and there was constant foot traffic with a line right to the door (small space, so understandable). Anyway, my matcha drink was decent, but I was a little disappointed that I couldn't taste a hint of sweetness even though I got it with honey. However, I think it's cuz I got oat milk substitute, and that's always been overpowering even at other cafes I've been to. I've been wanting to try this little coffee place as there is always a line when I'm down there. In fact, I have passed a couple of times because I did not want to wait in line. The guy who took my order was super friendly and helpful deciding what to try. I ended up getting a basic vanilla latte and my mom, who was with me, got the Spanish Latte. We were both happy with our drinks. The flavor was good. They only offered one size. I could have had a larger cup but probably didn't need it. It is a bit pricey (as with most things nowadays). There are some seating indoors, but we opted to sit outside at one of their tables set up. Gimme Smores 4/5 : Sweet & fun drink for the fall. The coffee wasn't that strong, but it was still really good. House Matcha 3.5/5 : Earthy & refreshing. Not too sweet. Possibly would consider adding the cream top next time to add more flavor. Was recommended to come here by another coffeeshop. Got their hot matcha latte with macadamia milk and lavender (half sweet, with other half on the side). You can definitely tell they use ceremonial grade matcha powder, which is something I always seek out. Their house-made lavender syrup is also so delicious and has a more distinct taste compared to other coffeeshops - wish I had their recipe to use at home! I didn't even need to add the other half of the syrup because the matcha and lavender flavors were already so good and strong! The baristas were super nice and friendly and kindly answered a couple of my questions about the milk options and syrup flavors. Not many coffeeshops provide the option of macadamia milk, so it was a must try for me when I saw it on the menu. The barista making our drinks even brought them out to us because we were seating outside, which was unexpected but so appreciated and thoughtful! The only one downside is that there isn't much indoor seating areas to do work for longer periods of time. I would love if they had more comfortable chairs/table options for the inside because I would definitely come much more often as well as bring friends to join if so. However, the few seating options outside are very pleasant to sit at if the weather is a good temperature like the day I stopped by. So I'm a huge coffee lover, but have recently been told by my doctor that I need to reduce my caffeine intake. I've been pretty good the last few days, only drinking herbal tea, but today I really needed a pick me up. After hearing good things, I decided to try out White Sparrow. I parked on the street near Rutabegorz and walked over. It's a small shop with super hipster vibes. The guy at the register was taking his sweet time so I was a little put off. But despite my resistance to be enamored with this place, HOLY S**T it was some of the best coffee I've ever had. I got a flat white with a raw sugar (I usually do the sugar at a new place because I find a lot of places are too acidic for me), but this definitely didn't even need it. Would super duper recommend! White Sparrow is nestled on the corner of Old Town Tustin, and the only coffee shop out of about 4 of them on this block that is open until 6pm. I went in to a small room with trendy white decor and about 3 seats. The menu had no prices, so I managed to order an iced Americano, which is supposedly a medium priced option. I usually just get black coffee, so I have no idea what an Americano is. Apparently, it's a double shot of espresso watered down to fill a cup. I don't remember what they told me about this coffee, except that it's Colombian Dax, single-origin, and has a fruity flavor. However, I found that it's actually quite unique. My experiences here forth may sound sarcastic, but I'm completely serious. First, upon bringing my nose up to the cup, I caught a whiff of chicken steer, but in a good way. I don't know how many people here grew up in small towns, but imagine waking up early to chickens cockadoodling and the refreshing smell of poop and forest ozone. Most people might find that smell offensive, but try to envision yourself in the midst of a nature preserve instead of a Santa Monica porta-potty. Anyone that doesn't know what I'm talking about might be able to recreate this magical experience in the back alley of a Home Depot garden section. Put on some Lil B beforehand to set the mood. Then there's the taste. There's just something about that sourness from it being a medium-light roast along with the bitterness (from it being over-extracted?) that makes it taste exactly like flat beer. Not quite Trappist or IPA. I'm thinking something a little chocolatey, like a Guiness stout, almost to the tee. If you ever want to relive that teenage DUI experience, go buy your White Sparrow Americano for take out. If a cop asks you to recite the alphabet backwards, ask them to give you a blood-alcohol content test and watch you pass like magic, cause that lightheadedness you've been experiencing is pure placebo. As for the service, they light up as soon as you start talking about coffee. The staff is obviously knowledgeable and excited about sharing their passion. But if you're asking for drip, they might look at you like it's an STD. Just kidding, I'm just saying when you apply for a job and the recruiter asks you to look over their PDF to prepare a few questions to ask them, White Sparrow's menu is that PDF. It's just a list of coffee keywords as a starting point for a sale, like "coffee, single-origin, pour-over, latte, etc.". There are no specifics, no proper categorization, no price. So bring your best fedora and pea coat and impress them! You'll get the job, I believe in you! read more
