BUTTER! That's all I really remember from the Naked Lobster Roll. The entire bun was just soaked in so much butter that picking up the roll require two hands to keep the bun from falling apart from too much butter. As if it was a precursor, these rolls came with forks which I'm definitely not familiar with any lobster roll being served with. I certainly wasn't expecting Maine quality lobster roll, but the price certainly dictated a need to compare. The "Maine Lobster Roll" was slightly better but instead of the bun slathered with butter, the copious amount of Mayo really detracted from the fact that it was a lobster roll. We could tell the Lobster rolls was pre-assembled because of how soggy the bread was from the lobster meat. Also, the clam chowder was mostly potatoes with very few clams. Expected a lot more for $92, which was one lobster roll combo w/ soup and one additional lobster roll. My sister-in-law got a roll right across this place at Boston Chowda, which was cheaper, freshly made and with more meat. This place is a gem. A little pricey, but worth it. My recommendation though, forget the lobster roll (hot or cold), and go for the seafood sampler, which comes with four rolls filled with different seafood (which includes lobster). We're visiting from Chicago and inevitably ended up in touristy Faneuil Hall nearby our hotel. It was a busy place and every vendor seemed to have lobster rolls. I settled on the Wicked Lobsta because I could get a cup of clam chowder and a can of Coke for the bargain price of $41 plus tax. The sandwich was delicious and had a lot of chunky lobster pieces. The bun was soaked in garlic butter. The chowder was average, had a few clams in it. Given the crowded bustling ambiance in a tight knit space, we didn't think too much and indeed ordered a $34 Traditional Maine Lobsta Salad Roll. I didn't experience the outstanding cashier service people were talking about, and instead felt cold vibes from the cashier who didn't crack a smile. That service alone and almost being mistakenly scammed by the cashier didn't get me excited to try this sandwich, no matter how good it could be. Out of the lobster rolls I've tried, the meat honestly didn't stand out to fill the price. Although there were a good amount of medium sized pieces and the lobster was succulent and boasted its natural sweet taste without need for seasoning or mayo, it was on the lumpy dry side. The brioche roll saved the meal with how wonderfully buttery and creamy it was! Together, the roll was still delicious and fulfilled everything I was craving. In just a couple bites, $34 is gone.
