Sadly this place is closing down this fall. I reccommed you coming for a last visit before they do. Wind & Sea is my favorite spot to hang out while in Dana Point. They have strong good drinks, great food at good pricing, staff is wonderful, and the vibe is right. I last came here with about 7 other people. We ended up drinking and hanging out from the morning until about dinner time. They are known for their mai tais but all their drinks are good. For food they have lots of options but I normally go for their popular fish & chips or the cheeseburger with criss cross fries. They also have happy hour Monday-Friday 4-7pm. We got their calamari and the tibets off that menu. But honestly most their food is good. I do want to come back one last time and get their clam chowder in a bread bowl. The staff is super nice and friendly. If you come during a busy time there is a crazy line to get in. The restaurant looks over the marina so its really nice out in their patio. But inside is also nice with their large windows. They also sell merch too for affordable pricing. Parking is easy since theres a lot with up to 4 hours free and a lot in front but sometimes it gets full.

On July 4th, during our family trip to Dana Point, we went on a two-hour dolphin-watching cruise and then had a family lunch together. For lunch, my dad ordered the Mahi Mahi, and my mom got the Clam Chowder Bowl and Sliders. I ordered a cup of Clam Chowder. I was so severely seasick that I could barely eat anything, but since I absolutely love clam chowder--and figured I'd be starving later if I skipped lunch entirely--I decided to just have a little bit of soup. One of my brothers had the Ceviche, and my other brother got the Smoked Salmon. The food here was absolutely delicious, the staff and servers were incredibly friendly, and the restaurant had a great atmosphere, so we were completely satisfied. The ocean view was also amazing. At first, we sat at an outdoor table, but later we asked to be moved inside. Even at the indoor table, we were seated by the ocean view, so we could still fully enjoy the scenery outside, which was wonderful. It was also great being able to watch the World Cup soccer match on TV while having lunch. If anyone is looking for a restaurant in Dana Point with delicious food, an ocean view, and friendly service, I would highly recommend this place.

Sad to see this place go. Old school spot on the harbor with good food and strong drinks. Service is mostly younger college kids, but they keep the energy up. Packed now since people are trying to get a meal here before it's gone. Portions are very large here. Mai Tai on happy hour are strong.

Wind & Sea *May 30th, 2026 *11am- Saturday *4 Stars Environment: *Moderate Sized Parking Lot *Large Parking Structure *Indoor and Outdoor Seating *Friendly Service Food/Drink: *Hawaiian Chicken Came here to celebrate my aunt and sister's combined birthday celebration and made sure to arrive right when the restaurant opened so we could hopefully get outdoor seating. There was already a pretty good line forming when they opened, so I'd definitely recommend getting there early if you want to sit outside. I ordered the Hawaiian Chicken, and the chicken itself was moist and flavorful, although slightly salty for my taste. The outdoor seating was definitely the highlight though, with really nice views of the water and a relaxing atmosphere. There's a decent amount of parking near the restaurant, although many of the spots seem mainly intended for those with boats. There is also a larger parking structure about a 5-minute walk away with plenty of parking available. Since I was a little crunched for time, I didn't get the chance to explore the surrounding shops, but I'm hoping to do that next time I'm in the area.

We always pass this restaurant when we are walking down by the harbor and decided today was the day to try it out. We opted to sit out on the patio where we were able to watch the boats and kayakers sail by. This place always seems to be busy so we were excited to try it out. We ordered a beer and a michelada while enjoying the views. We also shared calamari strips and the fish and chips. Food was just okay but pricey for what you get. My opinion, you are coming here for the location and views of the water and not so much the food. Service however is amazing and Bailey took great care of us.

Beautiful view of the harbor and service is great! Too bad they are closing for good on September 15. Due to the upcoming closure, they are reducing their menu items. The plates are generous, and the drinks are yummy. We had a great time celebrating a birthday, and they gave the celebrant a complimentary dessert. If you get a table by the water, it's so fun to see the boats and paddle boards passing by. And you may even catch a seal swimming in the water.

This restaurant never fails. The service is always so good and it's packed almost every single time we go. Reservations are definitely in encouraged. They have a wonderful patio fairy dog friendly. I love their wine menu. We decided to have their Hawaiian nachos that just knocked our socks off. It was so good. We're not sure how much longer they're gonna be in town, but I would recommend heading down to Windon see while they're still here. They've got tons of construction going on. But it's worth a visit so come on down and enjoy the beautiful harbor.

Perfection! Food, delicious! Service, outstanding. Ambiance, superb! We LOVE Wind & Sea! So sad this gem and Dana Point staple is closing. The harbor restructure is destroying all the small businesses and restaurants that have made this town what it is today.

Best part of this restaurant is the service and the view. Now the food: Clam chowder - 9/10. It would've been a 10 but it was warm not hot Fried fish - a solid 7/10. It needed seasoning badly. Fries - 6/10. Not the best to be honest Coleslaw - delicious 10/10 Tartar sauce - 10/10 probably the best I've ever had. All in all, not bad. Will definitely go back.

We got off a whale watching tour and walked into this place for some lunch. We sat waterfront on the patio. I ordered the Hawaiian chicken sandwich which was not bad. It had a nice flavor to it. I could take or leave the fries. One of our group had the fish and chips and did not enjoy it. Another had a burger and fries and said it was decent. This place looks like it's been here a long time. It will be interesting to see with the construction if they remain or not.

We were seated immediately at a window table on the inside part of the restaurant. Our server was - well- great and odd at the same time. He was very efficient and we never, ever. Ran out of beverages so we were well taken care of. The odd part was his body language. We didn't mind but he was doing our meal his way. Alan or seems to giver orders on how we were to enjoy the meal. We found it amusing and went with it. The calamari strips were good but not great. Missing some impact and flavor. The meals -one was great and one was good. The coconut shrimp and filet was outstanding the macadamia nut crusted mahi was so slathered Ina sickly sweet goo as the not be enjoyable. Once I scraped that goo off and the fish was more tasty. Get it without the goo. The asparagus was cooked superbly and as I said it was enjoyable but it is overpriced for the level of atmosphere. It an old place and parts of it felt and looked old and not in a quanti way but more in the it needs to be refurbished way.

Had a very good time here if you're looking for a more casual place to eat with a gorgeous view this is a great option. Service was good and I had the sliders which are pretty good as well. Would definitely come back if in the area.

We had a nice time happy hour here Friday night in their patio. It was crowded, but we luckily got a table pretty quick. The happy hour runs 4-7. We liked the sliders, shared a bowl or clam chowder, and had some steak nachos which were pretty massive. Would definitely come back for the ambience, everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves! Mai tais were good too.

    Happy hour menu?

We were there after happy hour if there is one. I think their website would say.

Could I take my kids come here?

The staff were really nice and they have a variety of table sizes! I don't see why children would be excluded. 😄

Do they take reservations? Or is it showing up and joint a waiting list?

Hi Adriana, you can go to Open Table and make reservations, if standing in line does not suit you, However, if you chose to stand in line, make sure you get there early. The line went pretty fast, just make sure that all you're party is there,…

Can someone please tell me where to find the happy hour menu? I'm not seeing it on their direct website.

I think you can only see it here at the restaurant

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

    Yes it is

    Is the patio pet friendly?

Only In the pit where people can smoke.

Is Brunch available on Saturday or only Sunday?

    Sunday only

We sat for probably 10 minutes before anyone greeted us, it was 3:30pm so it wasn't very busy, maybe 3-4 other tables. Every time someone came after that we had to wave someone down for water refills, never asked anyone if we wanted more drinks from the bar, nothing. Had my father in law asked for more ice tea and they never even started a new pitcher in 15 minutes. It was not busy. The place had a to of gluten free options which is a reason I wanted to try it. My server had no idea what gluten was. For a place that had half the menu marked as gluten free I was really surprised she really had no knowledge of the menu, but she was nice enough to go ask some questions when i pressed a bit that I wasn't vegan, and it was like an allergy. The food was good, portions were large enough and everything was pretty good as far as the food. Not sure why the service was so incredibly patchy and absent when we ate at 3:30 and the place was 2/3 empty. It was pretty good, I may try again but for the price point I think the service can be a little better. Nice...but slow. Definitely need more training on the menu! Mid. Not bad. Not great.

They are a week apart so we combined them. Very sneaky spot because it is not visible like a regular restaurant, but that just adds to the ambiance. Had reservations at 8 PM and our seats were on the second floor where we had a view of the wonderful sunset. We were seated in a both that fits 6, but it was better because the food was spaced out nicely on the table for easy access. My wife tried the Lady Luck cocktail which has vodka and others very a very tasty drink. We ordered the party house dinner rolls that that were ok. We also got the Lobster Crab Mac n Cheese. OMG this was so good. The melt cheese, the chunks of crab and chunks lobster made this an exquisite item to eat. We could not stop talking about how good it was. It also had cheese crated over the top as well. Lastly we got the Executive platter which is a collection of steak that the chef chooses. Our platter had filet mignon, 40 day dry aged New York Strip, and a 35 day dry aged Ribeye. All three were fantastic. We could not stop gushing over the ribeye and how well it was prepared and tasted. The steaks were all seasoned to perfection and did not require anything added to them . They also serve them with 3 sauces, but they are not needed at all. They also brought us small dessert for our birthday which was scoops of ice cream, but we were so full that we could not eat all of them. This place is worth the price and the staff and management were great. Special thanks to Daren. But special thanks to the tall slender gentleman who helped us. I ended up getting the Caesar salad, which comes with lemon, fried anchovy, and a ton of pecorino, and they were not kidding about the pecorino. It was literally like a blanket over the whole thing. But this Caesar was probably one of the best I've ever had. It was so good I literally didn't share it with anybody, I was like nope, I'm eating this whole thing by myself. The flavor, the pepper, the anchovies, the lemon, everything was so perfectly balanced. Even the waitress was super sweet and told me if I needed a salad, as basic as it sounds, the Caesar is the go to. She was absolutely right, phenomenal salad. We also got the beef marrow tartare dip thing that came with potato chips. It was good, nothing too crazy to say about it honestly. The Parker House rolls though, those we got as a side and they came out buttery, juicy, and just really good. The truffle came right through, these were phenomenal and absolutely a must have to go along with that Caesar. Then there's the bacon, which sounds crazy, it's literally just called bacon and it's this fat thick four inch slab, one single piece, and it was so so so good. I was absolutely shocked by it. For my main I went with the forty day dry aged bone in New York strip. It was pretty dang good, wouldn't say I was completely blown away, but I have a hard time with steak places in general because I always compare them to how I make a steak at home, and I still think I can make a better one myself. That said, this was very good, great crunch and crisp on the edge, those nice burnt increased edges, seasoned perfectly, and a spot on medium rare, so no complaints there. For sixty bucks though I just have a hard time paying for it, even if it was very good. The one that stole the whole night, hands down and by far, was the dessert. I don't remember what it was called but it was like this pancake ice cream, buttery, gooey, delicious, light and airy heaven. I literally apologized at the table and said I'm going to eat this entire thing, and I did just that. It was awesome. The ambiance and decoration of this place is straight up fine dining, you can feel and see it, and they even have actual dry aged beef ribs on display which is really cool. Not bad at all. I'd recommend it as a high end spot, just not somewhere I'd go consistently since I can do better at home. But that dessert dish, whatever the heck it was, I would go back for that alone. Best dish of the night for sure.
