They have rude and untrained staff and employees that they do not know how to treat and talk to Customer, unfortunately... They ruined our day on my daughter's birthday. They had empty-seated but they forced people to stand outside. I wanted to be seated inside but they said we would be open for the dining area 20 min later please be seated in the balcony area. As long as my daughter and I were seated on one of the empty tables a teenage girl came and kicked us out and didn't consider the receptionist told us to come and sit in that area. My daughter got mad at her birthday she asked to go home and no more dining tonight. They must train their staff before hiring them. read more

Unfortunately our experience was not great. Two people in our party got the scallops off the special menu last night and both ended up with food poisoning and very sick. Came with a large party before the dinner rush and were seated right away. Sophia was taking care of us and she was absolutely amazing. Drinks kept coming and the food all came out hot. She got nothing wrong!!! It's a cute beachside restaurant (we sat outside) right next to the harbor. Inside is really nice too and the bathrooms were clean. This is a perfect place to enjoy a romantic dinner and see the sunset! Parking is free for 4 hours. I got the steak with extra mashed potatoes and my husband got the kalua pork nachos which were HUGE! The sourdough bread is hot and soft. I could tell everyone was loving their food too. This review is more directed at the staff. We were a party of 9 and one of our family members is in a wheelchair. This is an older restaurant so they have had to work to accommodate in the existing space. While it was not easy to navigate to the ramp, the staff were incredible. They were patient and helpful. The rest of the experience... starting with hostesses, they couldn't care less if you're greeted in a friendly manner. Hiring high schoolers to be the face of your business is an interesting choice. Server was friendly but not particularly memorable. Cocktails here are absolutely terrible...none of their cocktails appear to be made by a trained bartender. Even their mai tai is plain bad. So this is a beautiful place to eat. The prices are very good. Most of our food was excellent. The crab cakes were so amazing, the swordfish super tasty, but the stuffed Ono on the special menu was not the best. Completely overcooked to the point it was like leather. Now the stuffing was great along with everything else on the plate, so just don't get the stuffed Ono and I think you'll be fine. Also we had the mid pie and enjoyed it. read more

If you get a table by the window, you can see seals swimming by and boats going to and from the marina. The service was good and the food was ok. We had the Calamari appetizer. It was a bit overcooked and on the rubbery side. If you've been to a Maggiano's, and had their Calamari, then these won't even measure up to them!! You can easily get better Calamari elsewhere. The fish and chips were good with light on batter (so well executed). We ordered the Key lime pie and crembruilee. The key lime pie was excellent! However, the crembruilee was overcooked and on the gritty side -- so, I can't recommend it unfortunately. Overall the place was ok. read more

So I had gone here on a date night approximately 4 months ago. The guy I was on the date with raved about how this was a great restaurant , was the "it" spot back in the day, etc. That alone should've been my red flag because this guy did not have a good track record of picking yummy food spots. Nevertheless, I followed along. The location is pretty as it's right on the water, I'll give that. However, upon walking up to the restaurant, we walked through the patio and I was looking at people's food (I'm curious, nosey, call it what you will!) and was not impressed with what I saw. Jack in the box looked better than this. Again, I still went along. Upon entering Wind and Sea, it is dimly lit and gives old, rundown casino vibes to me. Walking up to check in for a table, I observed that it was a bunch of high school girls working as the hostess' and they didn't greet us for a solid 4-5 minutes. Instead they stood idly by, gossiping and giggling amongst one another. Just as I was about to tell my date let's go, we got attention on us and were seated. Drinks: I ordered a margarita and he ordered wine. His wine he said was good, makes sense it was from a winery. My margarita however? Oh my lanta! It tasted like I licked the top of Mr.Clean, I couldn't drink it. Furthermore, it wasn't just me, the gentleman I was at the establishment with had tried it too and his eyes nearly popped out his head with how bad it was. Food: we ordered calamari to start and to be honest, I feigned not being really that hungry because looking at the food around me, I again was not impressed. The calamari came out and it looked like a piece of focaccia bread and it apparently tasted like fishy rubber. I can't account for the taste of it as I was so off put by my drink, staff, and the completely outdated atmosphere, I didn't dare try it. We left, I found a delicious spot nearby for us to eat at that I still think about. Never, ever will I return here and I wouldn't recommend this spot to even my worst enemy. The guy and i still joke about the horrendous experience we had here and he is completely mortified at having taken me here. So fellas, I wouldn't suggest this as a spot for a date. read more

The food is great, just two things missing: bloody Mary's and clams - they had neither which is a shame for a coastal restaurant in the beautiful landscape of Dana point. Seared Hawaiian ahi Comes with rice, covered with an "Asian" sauce and smothered with sesame seeds. Super flavorful and thick cut. New England clam chowder Quite tasty, and large sized. A sliver on the watery side but high marks overall. Grilled artichoke With garlic butter and Parmesan this was soooo good. Highly recommend for artichoke fans. The restaurant has a very nice view of the boats and the water. Very pleasant environment. The hostesses and our waitress were very professional and friendly. We had a very good time with my family. As far as the food is concerned, the fish and chips were good, the Hawaiian chicken pleased my guest and the scallop dish was good but nothing to talk about. The mignon steak however was very disappointing: a tiny piece of meat, not particularly tender, a spoon of potato puree and two miserable asparagus... Nothing creative, no artistry whatsoever and certainly not worth $49. I don't mind paying more for the beautiful location, but at least step up your game in the kitchen! read more

Been to Wind & Sea a few times and the experience had always been great! Food are always worth it and the view is of course very nice given you are eating next to the marina. The servers and hosts are all very nice and accommodating. The last time we went, we had a large party (15+ people with about half of us being below the age of 12) . They took us in without a problem, but to be fair, it's for a Monday brunch around Christmas time. I have also been here for their Sunday buffet and that had always been a worthy place to drive to for a delicious Sunday brunch. We love Wind & Sea and we will definitely come back here for another get together with family and friends, as well as to get our Loco Moco from their Sunday brunch buffet ! read more

Planned a wonderful day in Dana Point and booked a lunch reservation at Wind&Sea. The restaurant did not seem very crowded at 12pm on a Saturday, so reservations may not be necessary. We were seated in a sideways booth that overlooked the harbor, and it was beautiful! We not only saw views of boats passing, but also of sea lions playing in the water! I wonder if they ever open up these windows, because it was a beautiful day and the breeze would have been nice to feel inside. We both loved our meals, the Fish and Chips and chef special Oven Roasted Ono. However the Ono had a thick cheese sauce baked on top that I did not expect. The menu listed a "basil glaze," but I did not think that would include any cheese or dairy, which I typically stay away from. Luckily, I was able to scrape it off and enjoyed a perfectly cooked piece of fish! Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves at lunch here, and even with the menu description mix-up, I would still rate it 5 stars! read more
