I decided to give this place a try now that the shopping center is easily accessible. Was disappointed since the food was mediocre at best. Orange chicken tasted more like buffalo chicken sauce. Wok N Roll is my new go-to for Chinese food. Plentiful vegan options, and classic meat dishes for omnivores. We always order for takeout and they are very quick and accurate with their pickup times. Service upon pickup is quick and friendly. The construction in the lot currently surrounding the building might be frustrating to navigate for some, but the food is well worth it; I'm so glad they've remained open during construction! read more

Tien, thank you for providing EXCELLENT at-the-end-of-a-shift customer service. I have to have a soup type meal at least once every two months. Only being able to eat soup that night and having to deal with a problematic Uber Eats delivery situation, I'm glad Tien resolves the situation extremely well. The Vegan Spicy Ramen is decent. I think the broth can use an additional types of seasoning like Ginger or Turmeric, more spices, less salt. The noodles need a bit of air which usually twisting with a fork or chop sticks can create (to avoid noodles sticking together/settling so quickly, gives the noodles more fluff too, also, drier noodles are fine since broth comes with the meal). The Chow Mein tastes even better with the spicy sauce. The other parts of the meal are good and the meal tastes good altogether. I recommend giving one's taste buds a reset/time before eating between the Chow Mein and the Vegan Spicy Ramen: they have distinct flavors that I don't think mix well right after each other. read more

There was two handicap spots away from the restaurant, but none in front. The bathrooms were an adequate size for a walker or a wheelchair. The noise level was mostly the news and people passing by. He is currently having having a lot of stomach discomfort. This place is great. The owner is very friendly and took several minutes to tell us about his restaurant. He makes all his own sauces, makes his chow mein, and has a separate cooking area for the vegetarian food. This is not an all veggie restaurant, but he will make pretty much anything you can think of vegetarian. It is not typical fast food. It is healthier food that is pretty fast, but doesn't include all the chemicals some people may be used to, so things like the chow mein may be different than the chinese place down the street. How often can you go to a restaurant that can offer a complete menu to both vegetairan and meat eaters? I'd prefer an all veggie restaurant, but this is about as close as possible for a restaurant that also serves meat. read more

I discovered this place this year and have been here a few times. It's my favorite vegan Chinese place. I have tried most of their vegan chicken dishes and vegan beef and they are so flavorful. The chow mein, rice, vegan spring rolls, vegan wontons are so good. You get a large portion of food which is nice because I always have leftovers for lunch the next day. Lately, I've been so busy at work, that I just work through and skip lunch. Last week, after I had lunch at Wok & Roll, I wished it was one of those days. Great customer service - decent portions for the price. However, the food was awful. At least what I ordered: Garlic Chicken, Beef with Broccoli and Chow Mein. No, all of my recent trips to China hasn't ruined my taste for the food that's being passed off as Chinese cuisine here in the states - The food was just not very good. Garlic Chicken. I couldn't taste the garlic. Not that I wanted to get back to work reeking of garlic like I'm trying to ward off vampires - but I even had my coworker try a piece and he couldn't tell either. The chicken was also overcooked. No garlic goodness - pretty bland. Beef with Broccoli was not enough broccoli. If only I had watched the server, I could have asked for less meat and more veggies, but I was too busy chatting it up with my coworkers. The meat was rubbery and the entire serving was bland. Now, though I'm Asian, I don't eat a lot of rice these days so I opted for all Chow Mein instead of half rice and half noodles. I wish I had went for the rice because it's pretty hard to screw up rice. Anyway, the noodles had a pasty taste and the sauce, or the lack of sauce (see pic) made for a dry and really forgetful experience. I frequent Cyclo Noodles right next door to Wok N Roll, so I've seen the "NO MSG/LOW SODIUM" sign countless of times and have had it bookmarked for a while. I do not eat Chinese too often but when I do, I have my go-to spot from since I was a little girl... so I have finally and randomly come around to trying Wok N Roll but only because of the No MSG. Chinese takeout is one of the few Asian cuisines where you can not request no MSG added to your food due to the fact that they cook in large batches and not to order, so this interested me greatly. I walked in and was immediately greeted. The very sweet male employee (wish I could remember his name) engaged in conversation with me and provided stellar service. He gave me a sample of their New Orleans chicken which was very good. I opted for their lunch special which included Fried rice and chow mein, one meat, 2 eggs rolls, 2 wontons, and a small drink. Chow mein - too greasy for my liking, I love chow mein and I could not eat even half of this. I do want to state that it is vegan which is not common so a plus for any veg heads. Teriyaki chicken - this was great and the sauce was not overly sweet. Egg rolls - just how I like them, mix of fresh veggies and not too crunchy (not overly fried!) Chicken wontons - I did not care for these, but they are definitely made fresh to order so expect a wait They cater to everyone, as there are about 50 VEGAN options including ramen. I think I would definitely try them again if I was feeling spontaneous. My meal was good and very filling, maybe the chow mein was just an extra greasy batch. The food was really gross. Chicken won ton had one piece of dark "something " yuk fried in a won ton wrapper... and the veggie egg roll.... Omgeee what was really in it? I've been coming here since 2010 when I first started school at CSULB. I'm not a vegan but I have only gotten the vegan options here over the years due to them specializing in it. I've only had yummy food from here, I always get the chow mein bowl with the pineapple vegan chicken and it always stayed consistent and delicious. I rarely write reviews but I wanted to support them by writing how good their food is. If you're looking for delicious vegan Chinese food, look no more. I love greasy Chinese takeout, and when I noticed that Wok N Roll has an abundance of vegan options, I was eager to give them a try. Vegetarian/vegan options on their menu include tofu dishes, veggie soups, ramen, and even various preparations of mock chicken and beef. I ordered on Yelp/Grubhub, and my order arrived quickly. The Spicy Tofu was not only not spicy, but devoid of any spices whatsoever. The tofu and vegetables were completely bland, absorbing no flavor from the dried chilis in the sauce. The vegetables consisted only of slimy onion, green bell pepper, and water chestnuts. The Vegan Orange Chicken had better flavor, but the mock chicken was overcooked and tough. The sides of rice tasted old, with hard crunchy pieces throughout, and the Vegetable Egg Rolls were just generic reheated frozen ones from 99 Ranch. Everything was edible, but not in any way enjoyable. Avoid. read more

Wok N Roll is a gem in the LBC! I used to come here nearly everyday pre-pamdemic and decided to revisit it recently. I got my favorite thing on the menu the vegan cashew chicken with chow mein and used the yelp special for the free egg rolls. A few things have changed since I last came that I noticed. It seemed pricier than what I remembered for the vegan special (15.99), not sure if they raised prices or its been such a long time since I had been there that I forgot. It seems like they had changed the vegan protein as well it used to have a crispy consistency on the outside now its very smooth with no breading/skin and the chow mein tastes a bit different as well not bad but I believe I like the old version a little better. I imagine if this place was 100% vegan they would get a lot more business; so many vegans in Long Beach it would be amazing! I was unsure about eating here at first because as a vegan sometimes I worry about cross contamination of my food. All the employees wore masks which made me feel very comfortable. The staff were nice and answered any questions about the vegan menu or prices that I had. I love this place! They have a huge selection of vegan items and everything I've tried is delicious. I usually get the vegan special which has fried rice, chow mein, your choice of entree, vegan egg rolls and vegan "cream cheese" wontons (filled with tofu but you'd never know the difference!) They also have vegan ramen soup, vegan deserts and sell vegan soy jerky. It's also great if you have a mixed group of vegans & non-vegans because they have conventional meat dishes as well. read more

This little gem is amazing. The food is delicious, especially their vegan/vegetarian fare! I'm a meat eater, but my girlfriend is vegetarian. She ordered the vegan orange chicken and it was the best vegan chicken either of us has ever had! The texture, appearance, and flavor all matched what chicken should look/taste like. In fact, I actually got upset because I had thought they made a mistake and put real chicken in the dish! I was wrong, of course, but I was very impressed with the quality of their food!! On top of that, the service is really great too. I have ordered delivery from them and almost every time, they call me to confirm my order and clarify any special requests I had made. They were even so thoughtful as to call to make sure I knew that their house combo chow mein contained meat because the rest of my order was vegan options! It felt really nice to know that they pay attention to the needs of their customers. (Good for them they now have a sign announcing veggie options) It looks like a walk up of ready to serve only but that is what we get by going by appearances alone. Which is a very easy pitfall to come into when hungry. As we eat with other senses than taste like sight, and today Yelp, Instagram etc. I think the price is spot on as all veggie/vegan options are made fresh! So yes order/ have time to wait at least 15 minutes in advance. I've tried most of the veggie plates/options and would just suggest to order to your flavor and spice profile for a great match. The sauces and bowls can be a little "saucy" which ain't bad just make sure you order enough rice to sop it up and enjoy GREAT left overs to stir fry the next day which also makes up a great price. Also!! As a vegetarian I can only rate veggie Ramen (they also do ramen) they happen to make an excellent spicy miso which they packaged amazing to go!! ( I think people probably prefer it not yo go but was very impressed). All the people that have helped serve my orders have been amazing over the years! I'm lucky I can just walk here but there is PLENTY of parking spaces. Vegan or meat, they have what you need. Ramen, chow mein, burgers or pot stickers, anything (more or less) can be made vegan or has a Veggy option. Vegan Long bean chic is my fav and my fam loves the Veggy ramens. My parents, not vegetarian, live the traditional offerings-tonkatsu ramens and orange chicken. The crew is always accommodating and welcoming. True mom n pop shop that treats their customers well. Thanks for being part of the community for over a decade. This is absolutely the place to go if you are in Long Beach and: 1. vegan and seeking greasy Chinese food; 2. broke; 3. drunk; or, more likely, all of the above. Totally satisfying, super tasty in that perfect strip mall way. Exactly what it should be, and as such in my experience best eaten on a street corner out of the to-go container. All about the garlic chicken. If you have a couple of people, ask them for the vegan 12-dumpling special. They will probably just do it for you whether or not the little piece of handwritten paper advertising it is present. I'm glad that in the sea of market-oriented yuppie food, we can still find this. Plus, if you are actually for real broke, your only alternative is Hole Mole. Victory by default. Not all vegan, but it's pretty clear for the food items. I came here once, but probably won't be back again. They do give a free spring roll when you check in on Yelp though. Other than that, the food was really greasy. Too much grease for me. Not to mention it was a bit salty. The food on the counter seems it's been there for a while so it's best to just order off the counter if you are here. Parking is easy. I would give this place 5 stars if they had better customer service and a less confusing menu. It was my first time here, as well as my boyfriends- I wanted to get a 2 item vegan plate- but apparently that wasn't an option with vegan items, i could only get 1 item. My boyfriend wanted to get a 2 item (regular meat) plate- but was only able to order 1 item as well because he was ordering off the menu and not what was already out in front of us. (They have a Panda Express set up- anything there was eligible for a 2 item plate). Anyways- the food was really good and I was overall happy despite the customer service.
