My "chorizo hash" contained only small slivers of overcooked dry tasteless chorizo. Great service. Nice staff. Menu planner fail.

This place is SO good, owned by a wonderful family. We ordered a little of everything - French toast, steak, biscuits and gravy, waffles, pineapple mimosas, Machaca burrito, pavement scraper, the no-brainer, hot chocolate. SO good! The French onion soup is the best I've ever had. The gravy on the biscuits is great! The place itself is so homey and the staff is incredible. Go here!! read more

Waited a while but that's how it is with popular breakfast spots. Owner is also chief cook by the looks of it, and knows many of his patrons well - always a great sign. Great food and service - good, solid, old-fashioned family place, which is always our 'go-to'. Definitely going back regularly when it's local to us, but will allow more time to put our names down. read more

I had the pleasure of going into the restaurant on a Crepe day! I ordered the Nutella and banana crepe and my friend had the s'mores crepe! They were so moist and delicious! the staff was so nice! Many meals since my initial review, an update. The ownership has changed hands, not unusual in any business. There are some reoccurring issues, however. Recently, two of our breakfast omelets had to be returned due to undercooked and runny eggs. Granted, both were vegetable omelets which have a naturally higher moisture content ordinarily, but this was never a problem previously. And when we received the omelets back, mine was fine but my wife's eggs were still runny. Frustrating. Portion allocation has become an issue. Some weeks prior, my wife took her friends out for breakfast. She ordered a Hash A' la Woodett's (Think corn beef hash & sausage). Unfortunately, the amount of beef allocated was more of a "light sprinkling," and just enough in her opinion to support the menu advertising, but nothing like was previously the case under the previous ownership. An aspect that drives me crazy, and this was under the previous ownership as well, is the inclusion of High Fructose Corn Syrup in the available condiments. Besides being amazingly unhealthy, it's not something my age group grew up with and its immediately noticeable (and objectionable) to the palate. Ironically, commercial non-HFCS alternatives cost the same or even less in my experience. So, all-in-all, they're trying, and I know that. And their wait staff is uniformly pleasant and efficient, even when things get busy. Let's see what happens... read more

Took my awesomeness kid there for lunch on Sunday! It was busy but they got us in quick and it took awhile for our food but we had an enjoyable time chatting and giggling didn't mind at all! My eggs were perfect and my sons hamburger was delicious!! Definitely a recommendation that I would not pass up!! read more

Been coming here for over 20 years and in the last 5 years, Every time I come here I remember why I don't come back but once a year or more. Slow to be seated, very slow getting food (almost an hour), food is mediocre at best, bread on multiple sandwiches was burnt, food came out in more than 10minute spread, 1 order was wrong, 1 order was forgotten. I would really like to give this restaurant a 5 star rating, but we attended one of their bistro dinner nights and a 12.00 salad with nothing more than maybe 8 small bites for a small gourmet salad and was served on an "warm" plate was unacceptable. Salads need to be served on a chilled plate, no matter the cost! I should have sent it back to the kitchen and refused it. The entree and dessert redeemed my impression of the restaurant until the food bill arrived. We asked our waiter to split up the check, as we were a group of 4 couples, but our server refused. Came through to go bowling a couple weeks ago since gardnerville was the only city that had a bowling alley open yet in the midst of the coronavirus. This was all my husband wanted to do on his day off and this is where he chose to go for breakfast. My boyfriend and I stopped here starving. It's a very sweet restaurant and the food was so good. GET THE BACON. Cooked right, tasted great. Both of our meals were just right. We also had Rachelle as our server and she is just so sweet and kind. I highly recommend stopping here for a nice quiet breakfast. Ever since the current owner took over, the food quality has suffered, and the portions have shrunk. Woodett's used to be great, now I wouldn't recommend it for dog food! Black Bear Diner or the Cracker Box both in Carson City are WAY better. read more

The owner or whoever the person in charge of the yelp account replied to my last review where I was being generous. And seems they can't take any constructive criticism. I will make it easy and explain. When I mentioned the owner had family/friends over this person replied they were guests. Maybe, but they all looked alike and had a similar way of talking. However that was not the point. The point was they were overcrowding the walkway to the bathrooms being gathered around one table. On top of that they were a loud crowd making the atmosphere loud and rowdy. I understand restaurants may get loud from time to time but this was taking it to the limit. On top of that they seemed to get special attention, and given that our sever was their server as well, they got all her attention. The reason why the service is what saved my initial review from going lower than 3 stars was because she was aware of that and the rare occasions she came to check on us she was really kind and friendly. And when we asked for condiments of napkins etc.. she brought plenty given that it would be a while before we would next see her. When I mentioned the food was nothing better than what you would find at a Denny's, this person mentioned Denny's makes good food. As if not to acknowledge I was calling their food subpar. Denny's is a good meal for the price. And for the prices they charge at this restaurant and get food at the level of a subpar chain restaurant is mind blowing that they even defend that. One tip of advice, instead of taking the time to reply to reviews in a sassy way, spend that time bettering your restaurant. They take advantage of the great location besides highway 395 to get a lot of customers that are just passing by, so they can get away with offering the poor quality they do. They won't try to improve given that their customers are passers by rather than returning. read more

First time here and won't be the last! The breakfast was wonderful. My husband had the biscuits and gravy with eggs. I had a traditional breakfast, eggs hash browns and crispy bacon with wheat toast.
