I dine at many differnt sushi establishments depending on where I am, however, I always return to Yosuke every month to touch base and enjoy thier fine hospitality. One of the few Japanese owned sushi places. always a line on friday and saturday nights so come prepared to wait. Most people come here to combo deal which come in these huge bowls as you can see from the pictures. They are a great deal but you are really missing out if you dont pay attention to what the other japanese patrons are ordering. Their miso soup is just right not too salty nor bland. I always order their baked mussel and beef tat(rare beef) as appetizers. Followed by salmon and bluefin sushi which are fresh and simply melt in your mouth experience. They even have sweet shrimp for the not so faint hearted. Service is a little slow since it can get really crowded but I wasn't left thirsty for too long. If you are looking for quality fresh sushi in the Yorba Linda, or Anaheim hillls area I would highly recommend you try this place out. read more

Located in the plaza next to El Rancho MS pick up area, Yosuke Sushi is definitely worth the visit, especially if you go for lunch. It looks dark and closed from the outside, but it's probably open. Upon entrance, they ask you if you would like a table or the sushi bar. The popular item on their lunch special menu would be the bento boxes. You have two options - A or B. With Special A, you get 1 entree (about $9). With Special B, you get 2 entree (about $12). Both come with rice, miso soup, salad, 4 pieces CA rolls, potato salad, 1 piece of chicken karage, and some fruit. Pretty good deal, right?! I ordered Special A with chicken terriyaki. My only gripe is that the chick was a bit burnt and charcoal tasting and I wish it had more terriyaki sauce too. Really, I would say this is a 3.5 stars, but I'll round up to 4. You'll definitely leave here full. Maybe try ordering something besides chicken terriyaki. read more

The best Japanese restaurant in Anaheim Hills. It's authentic Japanese so you won't find your Americanized nasty-ness here. But since it's authentic, entree prices start at around $15 and up. If you get one of those bento box types, they give you a massive amounts of food for $20. Seriously, massive. Usually you think small portions when it comes to Japanese food, but not this bento box thing. Dang I want one right now. Everything is really fresh and I loved their sashimi. Having recently moved to Anaheim Hills from Irvine, I was delighted to find Yosuke. Being a huge sushi fan, I am always excited when I find an authentic Japanese sushi bar stuck in the middle of a strip mall as I know the dishes will not be loaded with mayo or "special sauce" and you will be able to get authentic cuisine and a warm & friendly environment. Having been to Japan and sampled some of the best sushi in the world, I have to say that Yosuke is definitely a great find in the Anaheim Hills area. When living in Irvine, my wife and I were regulars as Ango Tei and Ikko Sushi in Costa Mesa. While I might rank Ango Tei higher, Yosuke is definitely a great find and I would strongly recommend it to those who enjoy sushi & sashimi. They have your standard sushi rolls like crunchy, rainbow, etc., however, I think the best items on the menu are the straight up sushi & sashimi as well as the daily specials like orange clam, live scallop, sweet shrimp, snapper, etc. My other favorites include: 1) toro scallion roll- simple yet delicious 2) yellowtail collar- broiled to perfection with ponzu, green onion, ginger, etc. 3) spicy scallop handroll- sweet and creamy 4) sea eel sushi- try it with just salt & no eel sauce The prices are on point for good sushi but definitely less than your trendy sushi bars like Ten & Ra. I am in the fence in giving this place a 3.5 or a 4. The sushi was good and at first I thought it was pricey but the portions were more than enough. But the food wasn't exactly spectacular. Me and my friend got a two item combo. I got shrimp tempura and mixed sashimi. He got salmon teriyaki and mixed sashimi. It comes with soup, salad, a california roll, and fried crab balls. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, but you had to dip in the sauce for flavor. But it's ok I am a sauce type of girl. The sashimi was fresh. The salad was average. Same with the roll and crab. Also had a bite of my friend's salmon. It melts in your mouth, the flavor was good too but not exactly the best I've had. We both also had hand rolls. I got a salmon roll. That was fresh as well. The portions are more than generous. I think the lady thought we were crazy for ordering so much food. We didn't know it came out in these huge containers. The service was good. The price was alright, a little towards the pricey side. It was about $21 for a two item combo, but it does come with a lot of food. And it was $4.50 I think for each hand roll. read more

The Pros: Really great tasting miso soup. Fish was incredibly fresh and you can tell that good quality vinegar is used in the rice. They also have a nice mix of standard pleaser rolls and some more experimental, off-the-beaten path rolls. The oysters were absolutely outstanding. Perfect size and flavor! Don't you love it when you can find a sushi restaurant that serves raw oysters on the half shell? The Cons: We arrived on a Friday evening and there was a bit of a wait. The front waiting area is somewhat crowded so standing around wasn't pleasant. We also had to wait about 5 minutes before anyone even asked us to put our names in for a table. But then again, I was pretty grumpy because I was in hunger-mode, so I don't know if this would normally bother me so much. Conclusion: I don't know if this is THE place. A few minutes after we got seated a huge line appeared out of nowhere! i suggest you come not at the prime dinner time. FOOD: I got the 2 item combo which was HUGE. it comes in this huge bowl looking thing and definitely ordering one of those and having it in front of your face can give people the wrong idea that you may love food a little TOO much haha I got the sashimi and fried tempura as my two items. The 2 item combo alone comes with 4 pieces of California roll, crab balls, a salad, miso soup, and a a bowl of rice. I believe this can feed 2 people easily. Overall, the food was fresh and the portions were generous. SERVICE: I took 2 star off because while we were there the workers were frantic and had no sense of direction when it came to putting in orders. I was eating my food for a good 15 minutes while my dads food was nowhere to be seen. After waiting for that long i felt the need to flag down a waitress to ask where/when my dads food was going to come out. It turned out that they had completely forgot about it. The waitress said that it would be coming out asap and suddenly sucked up to us the rest of our time there. I guess her efforts to make up for the mistake is what will keep me coming back! read more

Really good sushi at this place. Fresh tasting fish. The staff is pretty good, they made sure our cups were filled every time they got low which is a must for me with sushi because I do enjoy my soy sauce and of course it's super salty. I'm not a super expert on sushi tradition but I do know I enjoy a sushi place with pictures on their menu to show me a little bit of how I should expect my rolls when I'm not ordering sashimi or sushi pieces. The other down side for me was that their menu seemed a bit small in roll selection and my fiancé is a roll type of girl so it makes it hard to convince her to return to a place like that with me. Price of everything is pretty expensive but it is Anaheim hills so I guess that's to be expected a little more due to the location. Having been brought up around my neighbor's catering business, you can't forget the taste and flavors and since moving to the OC, specifically Anaheim Hills, I've found it difficult to find a match. Yosuke not only delivers but brings me back to those childhood memories. Yes, maybe I'm gushing just a little too much over this but my definition of great Japanese food is multi-dimensional. 1.) There is a specific smell that emanates in a true Japanese restaurant, can't explain it. 2.) The menu should include quality cooked as well as sushi selections. 3.) A truly serious sushi chef will have a "fish of the day" board 4.) Most importantly, fish doesn't smell fishy, products don't have that previously frozen taste 5.) Customer service is subtle, there isn't screaming involved as you enter and exit their restaurant. Being from Florida we didn't realize Monday was the day all Sushi restaurants take off but it was a good thing after all because it was why we ended up at Yosuke Sushi. It has a very nice atmosphere and a great group of sushi chiefs at the bar. We had Sashimi and a couple rolls and everything was great. The Yellow Tail and Salmon sashimi was very smooth and buttery and melted in your mouth. We also had a spicy tuna roll and the crispy roll. The crispy roll was very unique, with a seared rice cake topped with tuna and a pepper with some spicy mayo. It is warm and the seared rice actually taste like a crab cake. We walk into Yosuki today and all I can say is this is our new sushi place. Fantastic Poki Bowl, excellent sashimi lunch special with a great selection of fish. Sushi Yosuke isn't the best sushi place by a long shot but I will say that it's probably the best sushi spot in Anaheim Hills and it's surrounding area. The location is very convenient for me. It's next to the Hibachi on Fairmont and always has tons of parking spots. Sushi Yosuke gets very busy being the best sushi restaurant in town. More times than not there will be a wait at dinner on busy nights (Fri, Sat.). Usually the wait isn't very long and the staff will keep you updated on how long it'll be til your seated. I like the inside of the restaurant. It's very clean and nicely decorated. There are a few tables, a long booth, and the sushi bar to choose to sit at. If sitting at the long booth you may be sitting close to another party. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The sushi chefs are very talkative at the bar and have always accommodated when I've asked for a customized dish. The fish is quite fresh most of the time I'd say between a 3 and 4/5 star each time I go. They've run out of certain types of fish on different occasions that I've been but it wasn't enough to bother my experience. My favorites are the yellow tail, salmon, and bluefin tuna. If you're looking for rolls this place is quite limited but I would recommend that you ask the sushi chef for a custom roll if it's not on the menu and I'm sure they'll be able to do it for you. Freshest food and great service! One time I asked for extra salad dressing although their salad is nothing special but fresh and I love their dressing. From next time on, they (any server!) brings me extra dressing and grated Daikon for tempura without asking! Only negative is, if you go after 12 for lunch, there's a wait. But that must be a sign of good restaurant. I always order shrimp tempura & spicy tuna rolls, and tempura comes with 5 shrimp, and 8 full rolls of spicy Tuna for $9.95! While this is the best sushi in Anaheim they really can have their off nights moreso depending on if business is good ( quicker fresh fish turnover ). The rating is going down fast. I ordered fresh scallops live and he torched them, started to worry right away. The he offers me king crab leg sashimi, again he torches them. The next order things went even worse, blue fin toro, gray tinge...not fresh. This was a Wednesday night and maybe the fish hadn't been delivered fresh but I wasn't happy. Why would you torch fresh live scallops. The rolls my friend ordered tasted okay since they where smothered in sauce, not my cup of tea.
