These could quite possibly be some of the best donuts we have ever tasted! While visiting my hubby who is on a work trip in Charlotte, we had to check out the local donut scene. We are so stinkin' glad we did, I'm literally dreaming about these donuts all the way in FL and I'm so tempted to have my hubby bring one home with him on the plane next week. Our favorites were the peach sweet tea and the mango lassie? I believe that was what it was called, but mannnn we could eat these every single day of our lives and never grow tired. Usually when you eat a donut you always want more, but with the size of these and their decadence they are the perfect amount to just enjoy one to the very last bite. I know quarantine probably isn't the best time to go out searching for some good donuts, but I couldn't help myself. These donuts are better than Duck Donuts in my opinion. I bought them at around 12:40pm (they close at 2pm), and the lady at the counter told me that she only had six donuts left. I asked her what the price was for three donuts, and she said $11. I ended up buying the half dozen for about $16. The price was kind of steep for the quantity, but it's okay. I also gave tip, to which amount ended up being about $20. Also, after I had purchased them and driven home, I saw on one of the Charlotte Agenda Instagram stories that every Thursday's, "Your Momma's Donuts" would be giving away a dozen donuts for the price of $20; however, in my case, I only got half a dozen for the same price. This new location of Your Mom's Donuts is located in Park Road Shopping Center. It's a cute little (emphasis on little) shack in the parking lot right across from the Blackhawk Hardware Store. We were there on a Thursday morning. There wasn't a line but there were a number of donuts already sold out for the day. The flavors were a good mix of interesting (like Champagne Toast, Latte, and Lemon Honey) and classic (Glazed, Milk Chocolate, Sprinkles). We had a Champagne Toast donut (because I couldn't not order that) and a milk chocolate (since the guy in front of us ordered the last sprinkles :( ). They've got a great texture in a cute square shape. Both were really good, especially the champagne toast! It was $4 for one donut, which I think is a tad expensive. I tried this place on a cold rainy day. I was really excited to try the donuts being that the bakery made Charlotte agendas top donuts list. There was not a line when I arrived and I was immediately helped by the cashier. I ordered three glaze, one vanilla bean, and two vanilla sprinkles. Ah! There is so much hype around Your Mom's Donuts and I was so underwhelmed. I honestly don't think I will be back. The verdict is simply that I didn't think they tasted very good. The dough was like soggy and spongey almost. It didn't have a very sweet taste and consistency wasn't really there. The flavors were OK, icing pretty watery. I was very happy that a new location opened closer to my job. Located right in the Park Road Shopping Center right in front of the Blackhawk Hardware store. The small building has a walk up window to place orders and a board in front with the current donuts available. I went on a Wednesday morning and there was not a line or a wait. I was quickly greeted and served with 2 donuts, 1 cinnamon sugar and 1 pecan pie. The donuts are pretty big in size, it takes up the whole plastic container. The donuts are yeast donuts and they are light and fluffy. I loved the cinnamon and sugar donut, it was simple and tasty but I was not a fan of the cream cheese frosting on top. It was a little too tart for me. The pecan pie donut was almost like a cinnabon to me with all the frosting and toppings on top of the donut. I had to eat that donut with a knife and fork but it was really good. It seemed to have the same cream cheese frosting as the cinnamon and sugar but with pecans. There was about 10 flavors available during my visit and the flavors rotate. The donut was $3.75 for 1 donut and the donuts are available in half dozen and dozen. read more

I went to the pop up location at South end market this morning. I asked for a citrus curd filled doughnut however I was given something else. I took a bite and went back to the sweet lady and said you gave me the wrong doughnut however she had no idea what flavor was what and I could tell she was clearly out of her element so I just said that's OK and I walked away. I ended up posting my experience on Instagram and was surprised that I was not contacted at all to make amends for the error they made. I will not be going back to any of their locations due to poor customer service and a $4 doughnut is ridiculous and I'm from LA. I loved Your Mom's Donuts back when they would have a push-cart in uptown so I was super excited to hear that they would be opening in Park Road Shopping Center right by my house. I have been to the new location a few times and here are some thoughts. Pros: I like the variety of flavors and how they change each time. My favorite will forever be cinnamon sugar with cream cheese frosting and I must order one every time I am here. We also really loved the seasonal PSL doughnut. The doughnuts are large and one will fill you up. Cons: $3.75 is a super steep price for a doughnut, especially a doughnut that isn't warm. They make the doughnuts out of their main location (I assume Matthews) and bring them to the PRS location. I'm fine with that - but at that price I expect the best doughnut I've ever tasted, and they just don't meet that expectation. If Yelp had half-stars I would probably have gone with a 3.5, because they really are tasty. If you are looking for a dozen doughnuts for your family on a Saturday morning, this probably isn't your place. read more

I decided to give it a go and this was my experience: First when I walked up I was disappointed that I couldn't see a big tray of donuts and see which one looked the best. I had to choose off a board, which was fine but not a great experience. Then I picked out my donut Dark Chocolate glazed donut. The donut itself was fluffy and tasted good but not great (to be fair I prefer a thicker cake donut. I'd give the taste a 6 out of 10. Best donuts in Charlotte, bar none. They have a good selection of staples and a great rotating selection typically based on a theme. They had a great Girl Scout theme one week. They have a cake/honeybun consistency and are very flavorful and decadent. Some of my favorites are Payday, cheesecake, benne wafer and strawberry and double chocolate brownie. If I had to give any critique, it would be that I wish they were warm. However, I get that with their current setup, they cannot do that. I do like that they in a small kiosk like structure. My wife and I saw this place in an old key duplication shed in the Park Road shopping plaza (what we call the "Blackhawk Plaza") and thought it would be worth a try. Duke Energy cut my power for maintenance today, so I thought "Hey... I can't work anyway... a donut sounds good!" I backed out and almost made it to Suarez Bakery when I thought "Hey... you drove all this way and you've never tried this place before. Pony up the $3.75 fat-boy (my internal dialog isn't very friendly)... maybe they are spectacular and well worth the price. Try one." I asked the lady at the window for her recommendations, as it was my first time there, and she suggested a blueberry/lemon and a cinnamon-sugar w/ cream cheese icing. I went for the cinnamon-sugar... $4. I didn't get a "Thank you" or a "Have a nice day". She didn't even say "That will be $4" I just handed over my four singles and she stared at me like "Whatdaya want? Change?" (she didn't say that, but it was obvious that I was being dismissed from the look / glare). I assume taxes would have gotten it up to $4 or so, but still... I get back into the car and try a bite. Soggy? Texture of a used kitchen sponge. Icing tastes like it came from a Pillsbury can (not a good thing) with a weird, gritty feel. Perhaps a bit of sugar on the outside, but absolutely no cinnamon. I tried a second bite from a different corner... same bad donut over there as well. I went over to Suarez, bought 2 donuts for $4.88 and enjoyed my breakfast. I threw the rest of the Mom's donut away when I got home, a bad taste in my mouth from the customer service or the donut from Mom's... I'm not sure which. Probably both. If you want a good, solid donut, head on over to Suarez Bakery... a 60 second walk. (I recommend the apple fritter). If you want something a bit more special, drive 10 minutes north to Duck Donuts. If my mom cooked like this, I'd be skinny. read more

I guess I'm going to be the unpopular opinion here but I was underwhelmed by Your Mom's Donuts. I've wanted to try this place for a while and last week my husband stopped by to grab us a few for a post-Thanksgiving treat since I was exited about their speciality flavors. We got the cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, and pumpkin pie. While the flavors are definitely fun and creative, the doughnuts themselves were kind of dense and almost tasted stale, not light and fluffy. The flavors/toppings also only go on the top, vs. inside at all, which leaves the rest of the thick doughnut pretty plain. These aren't bad doughnuts, they're just not great doughnuts. I feel like for the price these should have tasted much better. If you want to take a cool box of doughnuts to work or to a party for the sake of interesting flavors, this might be a good stop to make. But I'd say Duck Donuts up the road is a much, much better doughnut at a better price. Maybe I'll come back at some point to try their more simple flavors and see if those are better. read more

I'm a bit confused with some of the low-star reviews. Your Mom's donuts are different - they're enormous, filling, and have incredible toppings. They're not as melt-in-your mouth as Krispy Kreme for instance but they also leave you feeling satisfied instead of sick 30 minutes later. A single donut is generally enough for breakfast. Service is excellent, variety is too. If you haven't had these donuts give them a try and see if they're your style. For me, these are my favorite donuts in Charlotte. read more
