The DJ was playing loudly, so we politely asked the hostess if we could be seated in the corner, away from the music. She firmly replied that it was absolutely not possible because those two tables needed to remain available for upcoming reservations of two people. We politely asked if she could check with the manager. She went to speak with him, returned, and again told us no. While we were still waiting, another party of four arrived and was seated at those exact tables after they were pushed together. I approached the manager and asked why this had happened. He explained that the other guests had been seated elsewhere first, but because the music was too loud for them, they were moved. I asked why an exception was made for them while our identical request had been denied. His response was, "I have never seen you here." That answer was both irrelevant and unprofessional. Whether someone is a first time guest or a loyal customer, everyone deserves to be treated with the same level of respect and fairness especially with elderly person present. The entire situation was handled poorly by both the hostess and the manager. After years of enjoying this restaurant, it is incredibly disappointing to leave feeling dismissed and unwelcome. The sauce was thin, the pasta was overcooked instead of al dente. In the singular basil leaf stood atop the pasta, not for flavor, but to save the appearance of a disgraceful pomodoro.
