Pre-Covid Ysabel was a place we would love to visit for cocktails and parties, but never actually ate there. Thanks to a restaurant refusing to accommodate a walk up despite half the placed being emptied at 530, we had a disaster turn into a blessing. It took almost 90 minutes to find a place, but Ysabel went Above and Beyond! Not only did the valet, door guy, hostess, server and manager go out of our way to make us feel special, we could tell we made the right decision as everyone was so gracious. Our evening was saved! The hostess completely empathized with our situation and was able to graciously accommodate us once they opened. All I can say is I legitimately had the best meal I've had in the past 5 years at a restaurant. We wound up trying the Brussels Sprouts, which were phenomenal and started off with some Jane Doe's- Passionfruit Infused Pinnacle Vodka, Agave, Lime Juice. We eventually got a Virgin Mary and another cocktail, but I can't remember as we had so much fun relaxing. We each went with the 8OZ FLAT IRON STEAK and ordered side dishes of the Potato Purée and the cauliflower....just WOW! The Potato Purée with the steak was absolutely delicious and a must! Honestly, I would be content just reordering this again! The rest of the night we couldn't stop talking about the food, especially the seasoning & Purée, and how excellent Ysabel delivered all around. Service was horrible here... specifically from the hostess, Gianne (tall white lady with brown hair). She had the worst attitude towards our group and was extremely passive aggressive. We tried calling in for reservations for our party of 8 however , their phones don't work or they don't even bother picking up. Covid19 review: I came here on Friday and it was pretty busy even at 11pm. The ambiance is SUPER CUTE! I love the entrance and love the lit up tree in the middle of the restaurant. The food though? Yikes, not what I was expecting. The rice was sort of hard for the hamachi. The steak was mehhhh, the sauce for the steak was mehhhhhh. I wouldn't order that again. The drinks were good but that was it. I'll only come back again for the drinks and ambiance. It's a cute little date spot but don't come here expecting a delicious meal. Just had dinner last night with my girlfriend and we loved the drinks and decor. The ambiance was also perfect:) We ordered the lobster ravioli and the rigatoni to eat and we both agreed it was a solid 7/10. We would've appreciated a little more seasoning but that's just our preference! To drink we had the blood orange margaritas and they were pretty strong but very yummy. You'd never guess what was hiding inside a seemingly normal WeHo building! Ysabel is a tucked away gem with spaciously integrated outdoor and indoor tables perfect for a romantic dinner date. We ordered the Wagyu Yakitori (5/5), Crispy Rice (3/5, prefer Nobu), Branzino (5/5) and Pea Pesto Gnocchi (4/5). I was pleasantly surprised by the Branzino, the accompanying vegetables were very tasty. 4 stars because we wanted a sweet drink and the waitress recommended the Sophia, which came out to be a bitter and watery watermelon drink with Tajin. Linguini and clams - the husband liked it a lot however it was spaghetti, not linguini Chipotle Corn: would've been good if there hadn't been cilantro in it which wasn't listed on the menu as being in this side The rest: I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. The atmosphere while pretty isn't romantic at all. Also they don't seem to care if you're celebrating unless you're in a huge party of people. They ignored our note and mentions of our wedding anniversary. We had to ask for a nicer table and finally picked the fifth one offered. (We saw another couple do the same exact thing while we were eating our entrees) Our server was aloof. When we had finished our first round of drinks he took the glasses and never asked if we wanted another. If he had asked we would've but that move told us he was ready to turn the table over. I also booked this restaurant due to it being on the outdoor dining list on Resy, however it's not outdoors at all. They have to keep their roof closed due to noise complaints. All in all it was a super disappointing experience and not a place we'd go back to or recommend as other places have good just as good but also have an atmosphere and actually care about their customer's experience while in their establishment. read more

Ysabel gets 5 stars for the overall ambiance and for most of their dishes. It's got great music for those who like hip hop and R&B. It's a total vibe! And the decor is romantic and simple. We enjoyed almost all dishes. The one exception is the Brussel sprouts. They were deeply fried and we felt like most were single leaves and not the whole sprout. It just felt more greasy than substantial. And we are a group that always orders and enjoys sprouts. So there are certain expectations. The Mediterranean salad is bomb! Great flavor and texture. The tuna tartare was good, a tad fishy for me, but good. I think the dish should really be called tuna crispy rice because it didn't have a lot of tartare and it was more rice. i should have heeded others' warning that this place is known for their ambiance and not their food. this place has a BEAUTIFUL atmosphere but lord have mercy the food is so mediocre first disappointment was the spicy tuna tartare. the crispy rice cake tasted STALE and the fish had no hint of spice at all and tasted like it was sitting out for a while. burrata cheese and endive salad were ok. the steak didn't have much flavor, was a bit chewy, and wasn't a fan of the sauce it came with. the only enjoyable meal was the rigatoni i honestly don't see myself ever coming back here, there are just so many better options in LA read more

Very cute and romantic restaurant located in LA. Super sheik with an outside/inside appeal. Came on a very window and cold day but they had plenty of heat lamps throughout the entire restaurant that made it very warm. Cute dim lighting everywhere and decor. Tried the mushroom risotto, the mushrooms were delicious but unfortunately my rice was very undercooked so I didn't eat it :(. My friend got a cream pasta that was pretty good even though it was a simple dish, I enjoyed it more than mine. Wagyu Yakitori I could skip, it tasted like beef jerky on a stick which was really disappointing as wagyu should be sort of undercooked and melt in your mouth. They were so sweet with a teriyaki type of glaze. I think the mushrooms that were served with it tasted better. The salmon carpaccio was really good, I enjoyed every bite of that as well as my banana cream parfait. OMG! That was my favorite part of the night. I killed that thing on my own but then again I can't help myself when it comes to banana cream pies type of desserts. We also got a watermelon margarita which was pretty good as well. Made reservation for a Thursday night. Got seated immediately. It was a busy Thursday night but service was great. We started off with lily the pink drink and it was delicious. Then we got grilled little gem salad, spicy tuna tartare, wagyu yakitori (not pictured), crispy sesame shrimp, and hand cut rigatoni. This was enough food for 3 girls. Ysabel is one of my new favorite restaurants in LA! Came here for a birthday dinner on a Wednesday night and they were steadily busy. FOOD: 5/5 - EVERYTHING we ordered below was amazing: - Avocado Salad ($16) - Hamachi Sashimi ($21) - Hand Cut Rigatoni ($24) - Pan Roasted Scallops ($32) - 14oz Grass Fed New York Strip ($58) SERVICE: 3/5 - Had to remove a star because our server was pretty slow. Checked in on us maybe 2 times? I ordered a drink halfway through the meal and didn't receive it until AFTER all of our plates were cleared, and right before dessert. The bussers were quick to clean and bring new silverware out though. AMBIANCE: 5/5 - They have 3 patios. I requested the main patio but we were sat outside which was still pretty nice. All tables were spaced 6ft apart. And is a very romantic restaurant and great place to enjoy dinner with friends. PARKING - There is plenty of street parking on Fairfax. Or they have valet for $10. The use a text/web system and you can let them know 5 minutes before you walk out to get your vehicle ready. It is pricey $$$, so be prepared to spend at least $100+ pp with drinks. When I first found Ysabel, I really liked the restaurant and establishment. However, after my last experience here I wasn't impressed by it. Although the tree lights and interior design is charming, the service and food here last time wasn't the greatest. I ordered the 'Crispy Sesame Shrimp' and my date ordered the 'Lobster Ravioli' and although we ordered at the same time, the entree was given to us first and the appetizer came nearly 10-15 minutes later. Really slow service. We loved the shrimp but we weren't fans of the ravioli, definitely not worth 36 dollars. Hope this experience was just a fluke as I was really disappointed to introduce someone to a restaurant that I thought would have been better based on past visits. read more
