This place has authentic chinese food. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, green beans/eggplant, and mapo tofu. The pork was nice big portions, crispy, and the sauce had a nice citrus zest to it. Green bean and eggplant were perfectly made, tasted fresh, and was a compliment to the pork and tofu dish. The mopu tofu was sichuan style, which isn't exactly my style, but this dish was convincing me otherwise. It was a little too spicy for me personally, but I kept digging in. The presence of the restaurant was modern, clean, and very comfortable. I definitely recommend coming here. Lastly, great service! read more

Highlights: - Japanese Griddle Tofu is probably made with eggs, but the texture is silky and has deep umami mushroom flavor with the right amount of spice. We came here for a Yelp event. Service was slow and it took forever for us to get seated, even when there were plenty of tables around. When we finally got around to getting seated and ordering, I was a little surprised to find our dishes were..overly flavorful or not flavorful at all. I've usually had good experiences at Yelp events since restaurants usually tend to give their best dishes to customers but I was pretty disappointed. Came by during the yelp event on a Monday evening. Not too busy, so fairly easy to get a seat. The wait staff was just ok. After getting seated, never came around to check in had to flag them down multiple times, which was strange since they weren't that busy Ordering wise there is a QR code at the table which you then place your order from the phone. Food wise the event came with mapo tofu, and crispy sweet & sour pork. We additionally ordered beef noodle soup and some kind of skewer dish. Mapo tofu (4/5): was probably the best thing we had. Good amount of spice and hit the mapo craving Crispy Sweet & Sour Pork (4/5): was nice and crispy without being drenched in sauce (which was nice). Wasn't too sour or sweet, but felt like it was missing something Beef noodle soup (3/5): Average, nothing to write home about, just remember a strong cilantro taste Skewers in oil (1/5): defiantly not worth the price. Vegetable with garlic: This was honesty really good, loved how garlicky it was! Mantou with condense milk: MY FAVORITE!!!! Esp the fried bun, so good and fresh. I love how fluffy it was! Chinese braised beef noodle soup: Reminded me of the one from Din tai fung! I love the portion and noodles. I was able to share this with two other people. Still the same chefs and menu as the old Spicy Way, but with a new name and some new menu items. Had a scare when I came by the most recent time with the name change, but they were still firing on all cylinders. This is my favorite place to visit when I'm with family in the Bay Area, and I go out of my way to come here each time. Given the bright flavors, terrific execution and quick service, this spot stands its own compared to any place I've been to on the east coast. I recommend the Japanese soft tofu, the chongqing style noodles, and the spicy fried lamb. read more

Crispy pork coated in tapioca flour with this sweet flavoring. And oh man, their sizzling silken tofu is my jam, so soft with a killer sauce. But honestly, EVERYTHING tasted goood!!! I love Chinese food, but I rarely have people I know that would dine for them, but I do have ONE friend who enjoys it more than me so she's my go to for these types of foodie adventures. Authentic Szechuan food! We hesitated coming in here to dine because of its name. Neither my mom nor I like spicy food. LoL! Of course it was just a name and am sure they're able to accommodate non-spicy foods. It looked like the hostess was the owner and she seated us immediately. But before we requested to be seated I mentioned that we were pressed for time and if they could serve our food out to us quickly. We had the hardest time communicating with them here. For my questions she had to call another employee in the kitchen... I'm not sure if he was an owner too but he spoke English. The menu was extensive with lots of food pictures. They served traditional Szechuan Chinese food. We placed our orders for Mongolian Beef (non-spicy), Beef Fried Rice and Shrimp Fried Rice. I was impressed with how fast our food was served. We loved the food which included lots of beef and lots of huge shrimps on both servings of the fried rice dishes. It was delicious with generous portions and none were prepared spicy per our request. The food is amazing. We usually go for vegetarian items and they help us well with that. We mostly only order Ma po tofu and string beans. We would like to expand and try more variety. The bad part is that customer service is very poor. The people there are very rude to me , don't smile at all and seem short when they talk to me as if trying to hurry up. We are usually not great fans of Sichuan spices, but the 2 restaurants we originally wanted to go were both closed on Wednesday (odd?) so we decided to try. We chose dishes that were light to moderate in spice and found them quite enjoyable. Grilled seven spare ribs with garlic: interesting name, perhaps they meant 7 spices? But we did counted 7 ribs in total. It was nicely presented on a plate, almost like a rack of lamb. The waiter then sliced the individual ribs apart for us to enjoy. The pork center was a little dry and bland, but the exterior had good flavors. heaped on top of the ribs were generous amount of spices, peppers and enough fried garlic to scare off any Coronavirus. It was very good, but I think the cumin pork ribs at Ping's is still better. Japanese style tofu: one of my fav dish whenever I go to a Hunan or Sichuan establishment. The tofu was silky smooth, taste and texture suggests it's a recent batch which makes all the difference. The sauce had good flavors while not overly-spicy. Overall we were happy with the 2 dishes we ordered and annihilated both plates. It's not cheap here but I thought the quality justified our butcher's bill. read more

Didn't like the environment, the service and the food there. For the environment, the floor and desk are very sticky. The lights in it are tooo bright! It doesn't make people feel comfortable! And for the service. It took almost 40mins for them to serve the food, which didn't taste as expected either. The waiter who served us (or the owner?) was very impatient. And we asked for another 2 bowls, but he never brought back! However, the duck is a little fatty, so it was a very heavy and greasy meal. Additionally, the restaurant doesn't include enough green onions and cucumbers for 20 wraps. As other commenters have mentioned, you need to place an extra order of the condiments for an additional charge. Lastly, there were flies flying around the inside of the restaurant. Staff kinda just walked right by me in at the entrance not saying anything like "wait, one moment" or "please hold". I flagged down someone after a few minutes at the door wondering what to do. Some tables came with QR codes to order but my table did not and I was given a menu. The waiter who brought the menu assumed I spoke Chinese and said a lot of things in Chinese, handed me a menu and left. She didn't look up once. She eventually came back to take my order and again without looking at me. My silence finally gave her the impression I didn't understand. I ordered the crispy cucumber salad, braised beef noodles, roasted duck noodle soup. The beef noodles came out first and was placed in the middle of the table. The roasted duck noodles came out second, and she shoved it in front of my friend assuming it was for them. When I was about finished with the noodles, the cucumber salad finally arrived. Water was never refilled. I had to walk up to the cashier to pay even though a tablet was brought up to other tables. The beef noodles were good. The roasted duck noodles and cucumber salad had barely any flavor. The roasted duck was very fatty. I started to noticed that other guests ordered the porridge. If I come back, I would try those instead. It's not a cheap lunch either so it would have to be a day where there aren't many options opened.
