Our first time and it was amazing
    Ulises R.

We arrived right at 11:00 AM when they opened the doors. The restaurant was beautiful, with a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Our waitress, JUHEE, was amazing! She was very friendly and took the time to explain how everything worked. They also offer a free membership program, where you can earn points every time you order, which is a great bonus. Within about five minutes, our food was served--super fast! Everything had amazing flavor and tasted delicious. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We will definitely be coming back again! Highly recommended!

SERVICE: I want to start off saying that we love Juhee. She is the best! So attentive, so friendly, and truly gives great suggestions and makes sure you have everything you need. Water is already waiting for you to start with. Food came out fast and hot. -------- AMBIENCE: The interior is gorgeous. The decor is classy and themed around xiao long bao with delicate browns and beiges that are both comforting and elegant. --------- FOOD: We were last here around the opening days and the menu has changed a bit since then. There are several new items added across the board and sadly they removed the sweet and sour pork ribs which I really wanted to try. Everything we've had here is delicious and we always look forward to the next visit. I wish I had more stomach for all of it as I want to try more things but we keep coming back to some favorites. Dan Dan noodles with minced pork - I love the flavor but I order it with sauce on the side to control the spice. The noodles are thin but wonderfully chewy Pan fried pork and napa dumplings - Juicy and crisped with that dumpling crust Xiao Long Bao - Had the pork ones and they're really good. Not as thin and saggy like another popular chain but not a go to for me here. There're so many other great dishes Hot and Sour Soup - Prepared a little light on the vinegar intentionally so you can adjust to your liking Sweet Corn Soup - Sweet with a lot of delicate flowered egg Braised pork belly - Such sticky tender good fatty pork. Love the side of quail eggs. Make sure to eat it with some rice Braised beef noodle soup - Easily one of the best. The amount of tender beef you get in that bowl is mind blowing. Note that sometimes the noodles can be a bit too al dente so just let them know if you want them otherwise Chocolate Strawberry Xiao long bao - I'm usually not into gimmicky desserts but this one really works. Im not personally so fond of the other flavors (had the sampler before) but the warm chocolate blended with the tart strawberry is so delicious! --------- For the owner/staff: This last time we came, the water had a weird taste. Maybe there was an issue with filtration or a funny taste in the ice.

Yum Long located in the city of Monterey Park is one of those places that is pretty new and many have been talking about it. So one afternoon decided to pop on by and enjoy it with a party of five. The menu has plenty of options. We decided to order a bunch of different things and share them between all of us. We ordered a few different dumplings from steamed to fried. Had the beef noodle soup and the sweet and sour soup. These two were my favorite and it is bold in flavor. The beef was also very tender in the beef noodle soup. We ordered the dessert one which each color was a different flavor. Very unique and if you like a blend of sweetness this could be something to order after your food.

I have been waiting to try Yum Long and I was not disappointed. Seating is limited but adequate. Please plan appropriately and it's geared towards groups of 4 or less. Thankfully for our group of 6, even though the wait was a bit long, they have ice water at the door to help keep you hydrated. The service was really top notch and hats off to the staff to keep the all your needs met quickly and the empty plates cleared with hardly any notice. The food was really top notch and I expected the serving size to be on the smaller side but was pleasantly surprised to find that the servings are very generous. The braised beef noodles had perfectly chewy but tender noodles, very generous amount of beef, great broth, and even had the chopped preserved mustard greens which are not common. Cucumber salad had a great presentation and you know it's good because everyone gets it. Chicken salad (shredded chicken with scallion oil) was chef's kiss and definitely don't want to miss this. Garlic bok choy also a must. Just the right amount of garlic and bok choy very tender. Very fresh tasting. We also got the sampler dessert xiao long bao and they were all excellent.

I really wanted to love this restaurant like all the other reviewers, but sadly it fell short! I can start with the positives which were the yelp waitlist, wait time for food to come out and the overall price. But now let's get down to the negatives, the service! We arrived and were seated right away since we were on the waitlist (positive). Yet it took 10 minutes to even get a menu!! After looking over the menu it took another 10-15 minutes to get someone to take our order. Once the order was placed the food did come out quickly, however some of their dishes like the fried rice and noodles were very bland. Once we were finished eating it literally took 20+ minutes to get the server's attention so that we could get the check. The food was good, the stars were the xia long bao & the spicy wontons. But the service was very poor! One more thing, I understand that a baby changing table isn't a must in all bathrooms but atleast maintain it clean. The floors were wet and muggy! I had to change my baby on my lap and try not to slip on the wet floor.

Yummy and long experience! Dined in with family and had a good experience. The food was yummy but the wait was long! I can see why this place was so popular even during down times. It was busy yet not overwhelming during busy hours. Definitely will come by again but with reservations.

Right when you walk in, there's a sign that tells you how long the wait time is. I appreciate that so it gives guests a head ups for waiting times. We went on a Friday weekday for lunch and it was still relatively crowded, so plan accordingly and get on the waitlist to avoid long waits, especially on weekends. The stand outs were the scallion oil noodles, crab XLB, and rice cakes! Staff were friendly and attentive plus the decor is impressive and made for a pleasant dining experience. There's a lot of competition in the area--but the food, atmosphere, and good service make it worthwhile to come back!

It was pretty packed when I came. PSA: waitlist on Yelp before you come so you don't have to wait as long! I ended up waiting about 20 mins since I didn't know about the Yelp waitlist. Once we sat down service was quick. It seems like they are still understaffed and everyone was working pretty hard to attend all the tables. The decor inside was so nice and modern. The atmosphere was def a 10/10 for me. Parking would be in the garage nearby. Food overall was not bad. Some standouts and some meh. Juicy pork dumplings 9/10: this was one of the stand outs to me! The dumpling was super juicy and the soup was really sweet and flavorful. I just wish the spoons they have were bigger so I can't hold all the soup the dumpling had! Lol. Cucumber 6/10: these were good and flavorful but they were not marinated long enough. The flavor didn't seep into the cucumber like how I would like it. However it was a pretty big portion. The cucumbers were also a bit too thick for me. I think it would've been better if they were thinner and more sauce could penetrate through. Lots of potential tho since the sauce was delish! Fried rice with pork chop 9/10: another stand out! The seasoning on the pork chop was so good and was tender. It had a good crisp as well. The rice was also not too salty so it worked well w the nicely seasoning pork chop. Hot and sour soup 7/10: super large portion. Not the best I've had but it was pretty solid. Beef rolls 7/10: also so much potential but it didn't come out warm I also think it could use a bit more sauce since I was kind of dry. But that may also just be my preference. The flavor was good though. Popcorn chicken 6/10: I feel like there was too much batter. The flavor was also okay nothing extraordinary. Overall food was not bad. Service was quick but it was busy. The restaurant interior was really pretty!

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for the longest time! I had heard so many great things from my friends--they all said the xiao long bao here is even better than Din Tai Fung's, the dishes are more flavorful, and the portions are generous for the price. I had to see if it lived up to the hype! My best friend and I came on a Monday evening, and the wait was only about 10 minutes for a table of two. We ordered the Signature Pork Xiao Long Bao, Dan Dan Noodles with Minced Pork, Pan-Fried Pork Buns, Beef Wrap Pancake, Chili Oil Wontons, and the Dessert Xiao Long Bao Sampler. Everything came out surprisingly fast, and the servers were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Overall, we had a great dining experience, and I'll definitely be coming back with my family--they're huge fans of good pork soup dumplings! (:

Have been seeing multiple callouts before on Yumlong, calling out it's the affordable version of the well-known chain DTF (iykyk). The line looked overwhelming when we reached but fortunately it moved way faster than what's told to us on the estimated wait time. Like other typical Chinese resto, the space was pretty huge, able to accommodate big group size. We got their Wasabi Xiao Long Bao and Pan-Fried Pork and Shrimp dumplings. Both were luscious in their own way, serving different fillings and textures. The broth inside the XLB was rich and flavorful and the wasabi wasn't overpowering.

Ordered to-go only and I'm impressed. I haven't had a chance to dine-in at Yum Long, but based off first impressions of ordering to-go, I would definitely come back. The restaurant has two kiosks for to-go orders. I ordered a few dumplings and the Dan Dan Noodles. I loved the Dan Dan Noodles because of the thin noodles. I'm used to eating Dan Dan with thick noodles and this was a nice change. My spice tolerance is pretty low and it wasn't spicy for me. The dumplings are also delicious. Their menu reminds me of Din Tai Fung. I haven't tried their dessert dumplings, but would come back for that next time! While I waited for my to-go order, the waiters gave me a cup of water and offered me a seat at a table. They were so kind and friendly. The restaurant is clean and organized. Definitely coming back!

Yum Long is a great new place that competes with the likes of Good Alley and Prince Dumpling. Located next to the AMC theater at the Atlantic Times Square in Monterey Park, there's plenty of parking available. Wait times can get quite long; we had to wait around 15 min for a 7pm on a weekday. We got the Shredded Chicken with Black Truffle, Beef Wrap Pancake, and Salt and Pepper Calamari. The chicken was a great light appetizer, with the truffle working with the chicken, scallions, and onions excellently. The beef wrap was very standard to me, which is not a bad thing at all; I wish there was a little bit more sauce available though. The calamari had a great fry, but the breading didn't stick to the calamari too well; the taste was still great however. Workers are all friendly and attentive, so combined with the flavors and the food, Yum Long is definitely a place worth considering, and I look forward to trying their other dishes soon!

After seeing multiple Instagram posts about this newly opened dim sum place, I was curious to try it with my girlfriends. We got there when it opened at 11am and were the first customers there with plenty of tables to choose from. Service was great. We only ordered 2 dishes to try since we were not too hungry. We tried their signature Xiao long bao and a beef chow fun. The Xiao long bao came in 6 pieces to the order, served fresh from the steamer. Taste was good and there was a flavorful soup with each dumpling. The beef chow fun was also tasty and served hot. The restaurant is clean with a modern look, compared to a typical Chinese restaurant. Decorations on the wall and in the wooden decor. I think this place is worth a try, if you like Xiao long bao in general. Many have compared it to Din Tai Fung, but since i haven't been to that restaurant in a while, I couldn't give a fair comparison.

I went with the tomato and sliced beef for $14.99. This came with bean sprouts, which I wasn't aware of, and there was a lot of bean sprouts inside - almost as much as there was rice noodle. Not a fan of bean sprouts but will eat if I need to, but in this case - it totally overwhelmed the dish. There also wasn't enough rice noodle for me. Everything else was good, but that kinda blew it for me. Also got the spicy soup with beef and tomatoes. This is more of a gentle burn in spice they slowly works its way up. The only downside is they don't have their AC on during the summer. I remember one time I was sweating while eating and it was very uncomfortable.

It's simple what they do well here, they make darn good food that tastes like homemade food (healthy and delicious), they price everything on the menu very reasonably (especially in these crazy times), and they treat all their customers like family/neighbors. Now that I've given you the why, let's move on to the good food. We usually order the beef noodle soup because of how tender the meat is and the soup & noodles are just perfect comfort food. And we always pair it with veggies (garlic cucumbers or water spinach) and pork dumplings are also amazing. Almost any of their braised meat rice/noodles are just really good (popular ones are braised pork rice or braised chicken leg rice). On a Saturday evening, my husband and I decided to grab dinner here. Because we parked in the shared parking lot, we entered the restaurant through the back. We were immediately greeted upon entering. After being seated and looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: Fish Tofu Congee, $10.50 prior to tax- This meal truly nourished my soul because I was really sick a few days before and hardly ate anything. The congee was nice and hot and thick, just the way I like it. Portion wise, this is perfect for 2- 3 people to share. But again because I had not eaten much for the last few days, I ended up eating most of it (lol, had not realized how hungry I was until I was eating this). My husband did enjoy this congee too. Beef Stew Noodle Soup, $14.95 prior to tax- My husband ordered this dish and thought the soup was flavorful and the noodles had a nice chew. I also liked this dish and thought it was delicious. My husband finished most of this dish. ------------------------------ (Total= $28.10 after tax, prior to tip) Service was friendly. And because the restaurant is on the small side, it was very easy to get a server's attention if you needed something. Although I did speak mostly Cantonese when I was here (I am actually trying to make myself speak Cantonese more), you can order in English. So you shouldn't have any trouble when you dine here. Overall, coming to The Congee was the right choice for dinner and so glad we did. I do see myself coming back here for another meal in the near future. Please note that there is a unisex restaurant towards the back of the restaurant, right next to the back entrance/ exit. The restroom itself had all the basic essentials (running water, toilet paper, paper towels and soap) but wasn't the cleanest. It was decent at best.

I chose to order the Spicy Salt Wings appetizer based on the positive reviews I had seen on Yelp…read more However, I must admit that I did not find the wings to my liking. They lacked both the expected spiciness and the salty flavor. I believe I had anticipated a taste similar to crispy spicy salted pork chops. After just one bite, I decided to take the remainder home with the intention of making them crispier myself. The Shrimp Wonton Noodles in Soup certainly deserve a five-star rating. The dish featured four generously sized shrimp wontons, all amply filled with shrimp. I did sample the noodles, but unfortunately, I was too satiated to fully appreciate them. I am looking forward to returning for the Shrimp Wonton Noodles in Soup.

First of all- this is the best restaurant I've been to in Monterey Park…read more When I say the line is worth it, I mean it. The service is incredible even though the place is super busy. They give large portions and everything tastes INCREDIBLE. Super authentic flavors and will definitely be coming back MUST TRY: Beef roll- flaky on the outside and stuffed with delicious marinated beef. My favorite dish Pan fried pork bun- super juicy just like in China Fried squid- the best fried squid I've ever had. Even better than the Hong Kong Cafe. Super crunchy almost like Korean fried chicken in the outside and tender in the inside. Not hard to chew at all! Lemon green tea- absolute massive glass. 100% delicious and not too sweet with a faint jasmine floralness Inside is a bit small but very generous with the AC Definitely come here!

This place has been on my list for a while but it seems like social media blew it up recently so…read morethere's ALWAYS a line. We came here on Sunday at around 2pm and still waited around 30-40min for a table All that time waiting in line meant I had plenty of time to read through reviews and strategize my order, hah! By the way, when you arrive, make sure you go inside the restaurant and get a number and hang out until they call your number. It's pretty low tech lolll. Popcorn chicken - this seems to be a crowd favorite. It was good popcorn chicken but definitely not as good as other places in the area. That said, I do agree that it's good value as the portion is really big. Beef roll - ordered it without cilantro since cilantro is not my friend (sorry cilantro lovers). It ended up tasting a little plain and needed some of the chilli crisp/ oil to give it a little oomph. That said, the crust/ roll was good and the beef was flavorful (not too dry). Not bad, but also not amazing. Pork and veggie dumping in chilli oil - this was also just okay. The dumpling itself was lacking flavor but I guess the sauce helps. Braised beef and tendon noodles - If there's one thing I'd order again, it would be this. I LOVE the texture of the noodle. It has the perfect springy bite. Love love love the noodle. The beef was tender and the soup was okay (Good, not great). But the noodles though, if I could just buy the noodles, I would. If I were to sum up the food, I'd say it's not bad, but not amazing. The value is great since portions are generous, but taste wise is pretty average. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely not. I would not wait more than 10min for a table here to be honest. Would I come back here again if it was less than 10min wait? Yea probably if I was in the area.

Taste: 5 Value: 5…read moreService: 5 One of the best Taiwanese meals I've had since coming back from Taipei at the start of the year. The hot and sour soup was thick and chunky, just how I like the soup. The scallion bread sandwich with 5-spice beef was distinct. The bread was perfectly baked and the beef was flavorful and juicy. There was both mustard greens and pickles that gave crunch and acidity to balance the meat and bread. The lotus root salad was refreshing while still having a kick from their in-house chili oil. Dan Dan noodles were also excellent. Fresh cucumbers, chewy noodles, flavorful sauce. Hearty portions with enough for a lunch the next day. Also appreciated the speed of service. Lines move quickly and food comes out quickly. Looking forward to my next visit!

We stopped by Joy early evening on Friday since we were craving some Asian food. I really liked…read moretheir interior decoration, it gave felt both modern Chinese and nostalgic at the same time. They also had really authentic and delicious looking cold appetizers like woodear mushrooms and lotus root salad. There was barely a line when we arrived and we were able to order and get a table without much wait. The food all came out at the same time and very quickly. We got their shrimp wontons, Chia Yi chicken rice, and sesame scallion bread stuffed with braised pork belly. I was ready to be transported back to Asia when I saw the dishes but tasting them left me wanting more. The shrimp wontons had very thin silky wrapper which was very tasty, but the shrimp itself was so bland and lacked texture. Most of the shrimp wontons I've loved had a nice bite to it from the baking soda soak but this was just soft dumpling skin on soft shrimp. The shrimp itself could've used more salt and white pepper too, but I suppose dousing it in chili oil helped. The scallion bread filled with pork belly is probably the tastiest dish. The pork belly was well cooked and paired well with the sweet sauce, crunchy peanuts and fresh herbs. The sesame scallion bread however tasted like it has been sitting out on the counter for hours waiting to be stuffed. The bread was cold and the exterior wasn't crispy, there were scallion pieces throughout but you couldn't really taste it. I would recommend trying other dishes before trying the chia yi chicken rice. The shredded chicken was dry and bland, mixed in with mostly soggy pieces of fried shallots. The rice was more flavourful because it was soaked in fragrant oils, but it also left it very mushy and almost congee like. The pickled radishes didn't add much to the dish either. I almost forgot but we also tried their honey lemon black tea and passion fruit black tea. Neither tea had a lot of tea flavor, it was mostly just sweet. The passion fruit syrup was pretty tasty but we both wished there was more black tea. I might be extra critical since I grew up with this type of food, but there are other restaurants in LA that delivers great quality Chinese food. TL;DR: Joy is a well decorated restaurant with good vibes that prioritizes speed of service over freshness and flavour of food.
