My typical go to is on of the salad. Now salads typically are not standout at most restaurants, but the ones at Kawa Ni just hits different. Both the red cabbage and pear salad and the brocolli salad are delicious and the portion is massive, easily enough for a table of 4 to share. For apps and shareable entrees, you can't go wrong here. The build your own tuna temaki hand rolls can easily be shared and the tuna is so fresh and well seasoned. The szechuan dumplings are delicious, as is the curry onigiri and the bao bun. The Dan Dan noodle, kimchi Carbonara, and their tonkotsu ramen are also amazing, and, with the exception of the tonkotsu ramen, can easily be shared. I would highly recommend other seasonal dishes as well, such as the coconut swordfish or chicken katsu parm. However, one of my absolute favorite dish here is the ochazuke. It's basically grilled fish over rice in a warm green tea dashi. It's so comforting, especially on a cold night, and a dish that I return to time and time again. Overall, Kawa Ni is an amazing japanese restaurant. Come for the food and just make sure you get a sake bomb and ask for the gong when you do.

That evening, I was craving pho. Pho 92 came recommended and I was immediately drawn to the clear broth in the photos while researching Yelp for Vietnamese food. It was a Thursday evening when we arrived at Pho 92, and the restaurant was packed. It was loud, with staff bustling about and patrons enjoying their meals. The aroma of the pho broth was just as I had hoped for a busy restaurant. We waited approximately 10 min for a table. The staff were pretty efficient and looked to have a good system going for bussing tables. Hailing from CA, I am no stranger to good pho, and this place hit the spot. I'm so glad I decided to get the regular instead of the large, because wow those portion sizes were indeed huge. My husband made the "mistake" of ordering the combination vermicelli bowl, and it came packed with tender proteins and crispy egg rolls. That just meant for some delicious leftovers (that actually reheated perfectly). The pho broth was as clear as I had imagined from looking at other patrons' photos. It still had a good depth of flavor, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had been a long travel day for us, so I didn't want oily soup. (Sometimes I do enjoy rich, oilier pho broth, but not that night.) The pho came with a plethora of herbs, which I of course used all of. Be warned that their chili oil is very spicy, which I accidentally put too much of without first trying (oops). I generally don't go to the same spot twice during a trip, as I enjoy trying out different local businesses, but Pho 92 would have been a spot I'd return to again if we had had the time and if I had wanted pho again. I used to be one of the JJ's most dedicated customers, going over and over again for their reliable inexpensive lunches and late evening fare. So I'm a bit saddened by its sudden closing and replacement by Yummy Szechuan in its place. This replacement of JJ's Cantonese chinese cuisine with Yummy Szechuan seems to expemplify where Chinese food is going these days--everything spiced to the hilt with chili and sichuan pepper and generally the same menu items--la-zi chicken, mapo tofu, spicy boiled fish, and cumin beef. Don't get me wrong: it's still better than General Tso's chicken and beef with broccoli, but the uniformity of Sichuan restaurant menus are soon going to wear out their welcome. Yummy Szechuan is pretty average. I tried a couple of dishes like the red-cooked pork and the ant climbing trees, and they were okay. The red cooked pork was cooked with orange food coloring and hot pepper which totally threw the taste off. It should be unctuous and savory fatty pork, not spiced up and dyed beyond recognition. The ground red pepper they cooked it with also had a gritty quality that made the dish very strange on the tongue. The price was also very high, at least twice the cost of dishes from JJ's and more than most Sichuanese restaurants around town. The location is not good for Chinese students at DU and the run-down building should make this a very cheap meal, but instead it was pricey. That's unlikely to draw a regular clientele unless they really ramp up the cooking to distinguish from all the other Sichuan cuisine places in Denver. read more

They provide all the fixings for you to whip up your own sauce and a massive pot of rice. But here's the catch: we felt like we were on a time crunch right from the start. We rolled in after 5pm and guess what? The sign boldly stated that we only had an hour and a half to chow down. So if you're planning to order as soon as you walk in, be ready to think fast and anticipate some serious rush hour madness. The waitresses were so busy they practically ignored us, like we had invisible force fields around us. It took two waitresses and three tries just to score a can of coke! Now, let's talk about the parking situation. Plenty of spots around the joint, which is great. But wait for it... they have this huge sign warning about theft. Talk about a mood setter! Oh, and if you're picturing a cozy and intimate vibe, think again. It was like playing sardines in there, shoulder to shoulder with other diners. So if you're a fan of elbow-to-elbow action, this place is for you. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the food was simply spectacular. What amazed us most was the speed at which the food arrived at our table--it felt like magic! Went there tonight for the first time(a Thursday). We got there about 5:30 and there weren't too many people there. The food came fast and the portions were generous. It's all you can eat so they'll bring more as needed however we had to ask for everything additional, it was not offered. Our water was refilled once. The food was excellent, the seafood was very fresh. The "sauce & condiment cart had serving spoons everyone was using without gloves & without being cleaned between use which I did not care for. As we ate, more people arrived until the restaurant as completely full. I can see why! We weren't rushed although there was a sign saying dinner is limited to 1 & 1/2 hrs eating time on the weekends. OMG! Yummy Hot Pot in Colorado was an absolute explosion of flavor! Seriously, I think I died and went to soup dumpling heaven. These little pockets of joy were out of this world. The broth inside was like a magical elixir, and the delicate skin just melted in my mouth. I honestly can't even. The rest of the hot pot experience was fantastic too, of course. The broth was flavorful, the meats were fresh, and the veggies were crisp. But let's be real, the soup dumplings stole the show. Recommended by friends to try this restaurant, OMG!IT'S SO DELICIOUS. This is my favorite Hot pot in Denver！I love their hot pot because they have outstanding broth and their meat slices are thin so it captures all the flavors. Also they have fresh fruit and ice cream for free，I would recommend anyone to go and try it out. read more
