okay so, full disclosure, i have never been into thai food; mainly because i didn't find the appeal. a young lady took me to a thai place in the city and let me tell you! i was hooked immediately. this leads me to try this place not too far from my work. once in i was a little apprehensive but found it quite appealing the moment sat. the inside in has a Tahiti vibe with a giant palm tree smacked in the middle and a seat by the door that welcomes folks sitting to take a picture. i ordered two plates, well, because i'm a fatty of course. meal one was the Spicy sriracha Noodle Entree with shrimp. let me tell you- it was bussing. just the right amount of spiciness, the shrimp was cleaned and marinated in the sauce that made it a treat. there was a right amount of broccoli and veggies on my plate that made the price point doable ($15 + 3 for shrimp). i paired that with brown rice and the sauce from the noodle was evened out with the rice. my second dish was the pad thai- again paired with shrimp. i say again that this place has a wonderful chef who adheres to just the right amount of seasoning that doesn't over inflate your palate. i didn't know what to drink so i drank the water they brought out. for whatever reason i just felt like drinking hella water that night. with a check check that came to under $50 for two meals and rice. i think this place is a reasonable experience that folks should try. perfect for a after work function or a meet up of some sort. read more

I've been getting takeout from here constantly throughout the Covid pandemic. Solid Thai food when craving noodles and Thai. Some of my favorites are the pineapple fried rice (I always add shrimp), coconut shrimp, pad thai, and their Thai iced tea. On occasions I also order the lychee Thai iced tea and add vodka to it (thank me later). There is also outside dining and last night when I went to pick up my dinner (order) server said they are preparing for indoor dining next week. One of the worst Thai food I've ever had. I ordered the chicken wings ( 6 in order)were all partial burnt and had only a little flavor. the shrimp rolls (3 included in order) were also partially burnt and had oily. The pad Thai didn't have vegetables, limited flavor, and the vegetarian duck was overdone. I'm paused bc I just spent $37 on such bad food. I want my money back. This is not the first disappointing order I had delivered since COVID started but this pissed me off so much that I had to write this bad review bc I'm pissed. I have ordered from Yummy Thai for years and this was the absolute worst! I ordered a lunch special that was supposed to be delivered by 12:15pm. I went to see if it had arrived at 12:25 and it had not. So I called and was told the delivery driver had just left he will be there shortly. My location is only down the street. I waited patiently for another 20 minutes and called again. Once again I was told he would be there shortly. The delivery was at the corner. I met the delivery person outside and wondered if by now my food was cold. Well, in fact it was. My spring roll was sitting in the sauce of the entree and was soggy, my sticky rice was so sticky that I could not pry it apart with 2 forks. Everything else was cold. Terrible!!!!!!!!!!! I visited this spot a few times with my boyfriend and a friend. SERVICE Our servers were always great! They were attentive and friendly. They're always smiling. They graciously explained menu items. FACILITY The restaurant is usually pretty quiet. I guess the acoustics are awesome. The decor is cool. The tree in the center is so unique and gives a feeling of a garden. The space is spacious. It's a welcome change from the narrow spots downtown. FOOD The food is good and flavorful. It's not completely authentic as some dishes have more American ingrediants. I foubd that the food is often a hit or miss because it tends to be salty or oily. Fortunately the coxonut flan never disappoints. It's sooo good. Yummy Thai an option that's closer to home and it's a good place to get your feet wet in terms of Thai cuisine if you've never tried it. read more

This place consistently serves up fragrant, complex dishes and offers plenty of vegetarian options. The drunken noodles, curries and stir fries are all delicious. We usually get takeout, but I have been pleased to see, when I pick up my food, that the host is consistently asking indoor diners for proof of vaccination. Can't wait to dine here in person - I'm just waiting for the numbers to come down a bit. read more

The service is hit or miss depending on who your get. There was nothing bad about it, but some are better than others. The food comes out fresh and piping hot which is nice. The flavors however, are more sweet than spicy or complex. It lacks the nuance and depth of traditional Thai cuisine. The Thai iced tea was excellent. Having said that, I'm willing to try it again to see if other dishes are better. The decor is very nice, and clean, with an almost Disney like Thai inspiration. All in, it might be an Americanized version of Thai food, and a fair one at that. I'll be interested to see if it gets better as I'm willing to try it again. read more

Walked into the place 45 minutes ago places an order for 2 items... still nothing... Had to ask the hostess at the front how much longer before the order was ready, at this point it seemed like an I reasonable amount of time for a half empty restaurant to take. It did look like a good amount of delivery orders were coming in as bags kept coming out of the kitchen and being placed all around. ANYWAY, my order had actually been sitting on a table right behind us with two other bags. The hostess saw this, once she bothered to look and took all three bags to the back said to me "let me get your order" brought the same three bags back out and gave me mine, it was obvious that this was an attempt to cover up the error as the bag was cold and when I asked if my order had been sitting there the entire time she just said thanks have a good night. Total disregard for the customer and the screw up. Instead of owning it she tried to cover it up and deceive us... horrible service and practice. Thank you next, there are many other Thai places folks... We deserve better, we are paying for a service and do not deserve to be lied to. Check on your order when you order to take out here unless you want cold food too. They didn't overcharge us...they raised the prices on the menu (which I get -- inflation). UPDATE: So this is my third update for Yummy Thai and unfortunately they've lost a star each time. This place has great tasting food with some really great flavors but boy are they inconsistent! I've had the drunken noodle here several times and each time is a different experience. This last time I ordered it for takeout and by the time I got home and opened the tray I wanted to SCREAM. Only 4 pieces of noodle? Seriously?! And the portion of duck was at least 3 times more than usual, which would have been nice if it was cooked properly. But the skin was soggy and the meat was too chewy. I really wish they would get it together. I love the food here but I can't deal with the inconsistency. ORIGINAL: I'm really shocked by all the bad reviews! Yummy Thai totally lives up to its name. Maybe they had issues before and have since made changes, but I've eaten here a few times since moving to the area and I'm always super satisfied. The panang and red curries are AWESOME. A big portion with lots of flavor and just the right amount of spice. I will say however that the side of rice to curry ratio is really out of whack. I had to order a second side of rice and even that wasn't quite enough. I've also had the drunken noodle with duck and that was amazing as well. The duck skin was nice and crispy and sauce was delicious. My other big complaint is that every time I order a noodle dish, the portion size is always different (which is really annoying when you're starving and get served a plate that's about 2/3 the size it was the last time you ordered it). Ordered dinner through Grubhub on Sunday. This food is over-priced for the quality, and two of the 5 dishes we ordered were above average, with the most expensive being inedible. It's slightly better food court food at restaurant prices. The worst was the $18 Tofu Vegetables with the whole red snapper which was dried out, overcooked and had zero flavor. This normally happens when the fish is frozen and hastily fried in a deep fryer. They added four pieces of deep fried tofu and a handful of veggies in a runny brown sauce. Complete fail. The Thai dumpling were mushy and had no flavor. The pineapple fried rice was decent as was the duck salad. Let me start with my disclaimer than I am a huge Asian food snob, I am Chinese and used to live in the part of Los Angeles that was known for yummy Asian food from all the Asian countries. I also used to be a fat girl who has turned skinny and speak in terms of calories that are worth or not worth consuming. I ordered delivery from Yummy Thai to feed one of my late night cravings for something salty. I ordered the spring rolls, the steamed vegetables, pad thai and the papaya salad. I used the YELP eat24 app and was able to google a $2 off coupon. Always google for a coupon when ordering delivery on this app! The food was delivered before the guaranteed time and the portions were decent sized. Somehow New York and Los Angeles classify their egg/spring rolls differently because in LA spring rolls are NOT fried but in New York they are! It was to my disappointment that my spring rolls were fried instead of rolls with soft rice paper. If you speak the LA lango, these are EGG ROLLS! The steamed vegetables were just as described. No flavoring added nor wanted. The papaya salad came in a generous portion yet was not as flavorful as others I have experienced. The "dressing" should have been more generous to soak up the flavors. I usually LOVE papaya salad and eat it till i'm practically licking the dish. This one was meh. The pad thai was something else! I expect medium thick saucy noodles whenever I think of pad thai. Yummy thai's pad thai consisted of thin noodles similar to vermicelli that were dry rather than pad thai saucy. It lacked flavor and was definitely not worth the calories. We ordered a couple of apps (spring rolls, crispy tofu, edamame), and that was fine. Sauce for the crispy tofu thing was nice and spicy, and brimming with peanuts. The lady came back and let us know that the curries all had fish sauce, so would we like any of the vegetable dishes listed right above it? Yes. Yes, we would. It had a little chile by it, to indicate that it's spicy. When it arrived, it was absolutely loaded with flavour, but not heat. Meh, big deal. I asked the waitress for hot sauce. She brought out a little caddy with two different kinds of hot additions: one that was dried ground chiles, and another that was red and green chiles in vinegar (kind of chunky, but also ground up; consistency of salsa). Both were absolutely delicious. We had fun throwing the chiles all over all the food, and feeling the lovely burn. The spring rolls are super duper long, and skinny as my index and middle finger. There is a sweet and sour sauce at the bottom of the pint glass that the three spring rolls are served in. That is not oil. That's the sauce. Don't fear. Try it. Everything was absolutely lovely. The decor is beautiful. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean, and pretty. Very friendly staff. We didn't have to ask once for a water refill, it just happened. Everyone was smiling. Patio dining is great on a nice day and nice happy hour specials before 7pm. Blue Hawaiian had a chemical aftertaste but the pina colada was good and all the food was above average. I'm rooting for this place and I will come back, but service really, really needs improvement. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a drink on a quiet weekday. read more

Thai in Inwood? Apparently so....not every corner of the Heights has a Caridad restaurant. Yummy, is well yummy....yes, that sounds lame, but it's true. The inside is super clean and spacious. The staff was quick and attentive. The lunch special is $6.95 and comes with an appetizer. Seriously, how can you turn that down? I'm quite disappointed right now, I ordered from Yummy Thai today and if it had been my first time, it would have also been my last. Their food is usually very good, but whoever was in the kitchen (May 17 @ 1:30pm) really messed up. I'm not a particularly picky eater, but I can't bring myself to finish the Pad See Ew. It's my favorite dish and it's always been excellent in the past. What I'm really confused about it that I got ice cream and it was crunchy, like it had freezer burn. How do you mess up ice cream?? 2nd time coming here and I really enjoyed it. Service was excellent. Dishes are reasonably priced. We love the out door seating and enjoyed the noises (not at all loud) of the streets. A great bonus was right next door there's a wine bar (gotta check it out after baby) and the seductive sounds of a 3 man jazz band infused into the air. For apps we had the coconut shrimp, summer rolls, edamame, and galanga coconut soup. All delicious!! I especially fell in love with the soup..super yummy. For dinner my man had shrimp with cashew which I couldnt try but looked great. I had the chicken pad thai noodles. Wow!!!! Amazing! The noodles were perfectly soft and moist and had the right balance of ingredients. The crushed peanuts added a beautiful addition of flavor. We drank Singha beer (him) and lychee thai iced tea to accompany our meals. Super delish! I would say their dessert is nothing to get overly excited about. We ordered the fried banana with mango ice cream and coconut flan. Both dishes were garnished all over with chocolate drizzle which didnt complement the taste. The flan was better than the ice cream/banana though-nice and creamy. Best part?? All this food totalled less than $70!!!! That was the cherry on top for us. I have a hunch it was deep fried in old oil, even though it is supposed to be roasted. It's too bad, because I used to eat there for lunch and it was good. Also have had some reasonably good tasting delivery orders from them over the years, but not lately. UPDATE: The next day I cut off the breading (it was definitely deep fried) and the fat and put the sliced duck on top of a green salad. This is a cute spot with a colorful ambiance. I've had better Thai but it was decent. It seems to be the only Thai restaurant in the area. The basil fried rice had a good flavor and a lot of chicken. I had a dish with onions, peppers and mushrooms with chili sauce; it was good but both dishes came out very fast. The fried ice cream was good. Dishes with chicken is 12$. read more
