I've been coming here since the place opened 10-15 years ago. It's not a large place, nor is it a large buffet. HOWEVER, the sushi is fresh, well constructed, and proportionate/well-balanced (beyond fresh, the fish never tastes like the refrigerator). The food has all the standard dishes of Chinese takeout, never old and and cold. In addition, there are at least several dishes which include vegetables. This is the worst buffet I have ever gone to. Please keep in mind that this restaurant doesn't care about your allergies or diet and you have to eat what they have out there. Their service is terrible. As soon as we walked in, you will see that their buffet selection is four times smaller than Flaming Grill and Supreme Buffet. There were only like five or six tables occupied and there were plenty of staffs working. My family and I got seated right away. We were asked what we wanted to drink. We asked for four cups of water but the water didn't get to us at all. Half way through dinner, my mom had to ask the waiter for water. We were asked how many cups of water do we need. I got so aggravated and replied, "how many of us are here?" The staffs were all chatting and weren't being attentive at all. They literally didn't give any customer service. They didn't even bother clearing any plates off the table and it just kept piling up. Imagine sitting in a table that have just enough space for four parties. Their selections were about 25% sushi, 25% dessert, 25% appetizers, and 25% entrees. In their sushi selection, 95% of their maki rolls contains either avocado or raw. I can't eat anything raw and I'm allergic to avocado. I nicely told the sushi chef to make me a crazy maki without avocado. The hostess came up to me and I should eat the sushi provided at the buffet and they can't make me anything special or else they need to CHARGE me extra. I explained my situation and he didn't care. I just want a fucking crazy maki without avocado and they can't make that for me? I got so mad and said, "okay, I understand and I'll make sure to not come back here ever again." Their sushi rice isn't that good anyways and I can make better sushi than them. Their customer service was disgusting and if i can give them a zero star, I would too. This isn't the best sushi quality or Chinese. The salmon nigiri and noodles were ok but everything else was not that great. They could use better rolls and even simpler ones. Came here for their lunch buffet and must say I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. This is in a positive way. The food was delicious. We all have some expectations when going to a Chinese buffet about the quality and selection of food. This place far exceeded my expectations for buffets in this price range. The selection is definitely not huge and vast. They also do not leave out huge amounts of food at the buffet table. They have sushi which looks fresh and some dim sum and hot food selection. All of them were cooked just right and looked appetizing. The hot food gets constantly refilled, while the sushi takes a little longer. Hot tea is complimentary which is good for those that would rather have something warm rather than ice water. Some of the other Chinese buffets in area do charge for tea. The place is also clean as well. Plenty of parking as this is located at the Northgate Shopping Center. I do recommend that if you are going for the buffet, try to get their within the first 30 minutes of when they start the meal shift. That way all the sushi is fresh and available. Yutaka Buffet is pretty typical of the Asian style buffets. Staff is fast to set you up at your table and off you go. Plenty of choices at the buffet table. They offer sashimi, nigiri and plenty of tasty maki rolls. All seem fresh although the nigiri pieces are a tad small. The Chinese section has all the goodies from hot and sour and wonton soups, boneless roast pork, scallion pancakes, dumplings, crab rangoon, crawfish, orange chicken, salt and pepper shrimp and calamari, beef and peppers, teriyaki salmon, noodles, rice. Then there's the dessert section. Various cut up fruits and cookies and ice cream! It's not fancy but if you want to eat sushi and Chinese food for under $15.00 per person then this will do in a pinch. Parking is free in the Northgate lot. read more

This is our family new go-to buffet spot once we discovered it a few months ago. If you've had bad experience with Chinese/ Japanese buffet, maybe give this one a go. As for buffet food's quality goes, this place comes first in the rank. They don't have a huge selections like, say Flaming Grill. They have about 30 or so choices, half of which is sushi. Since the choices are smaller, people finish the trays faster, and therefore fresh food also comes often. I always find the dishes hot, fresh, and flavorful. Also, many typical Chinese dishes here are a lot less oily comparing to other places. I'm a fan of their sushi options. Honestly, it's hard to complain. There are a good variety of maki rolls, including Crazy Maki (made with shrimp tempura) and similar type but made with salmon tempura. Besides those, other sushi rolls look and taste fantastic as well. On weekends, there are salmon and tuna sashimi in case you just want some of those. There are always two people making sushi constantly at the bar, so you can be sure that the sushi haven't been just sitting around all day. They're fresh! Other food favorite of mine are crawfishes of course, salmon teriyaki is fantastic, as well as sesame balls, General Tso' chickens, and some calamari veggie stir fry. As for the service, I think they have one of the best services I've experienced in Chinese restaurants. The girls are so nice and friendly. They're quick to pick up your plates once you're done. This place is fantastic if you go in with the right attitude. IT'S AN ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT-$15ISH-BUFFET Read that again. Again. Again. Do not expect world-class sushi at an all you can buffet place. Either you're incredibly cheap, lack common sense, or all of the above. The sushi is actually not bad at all, considering the price. I'd say it's on par with most conveyer belt sushi joints: Above supermarket stuff, below places where, ya know, your rolls are actually made to order. The rolls do not get more adventuresome than tuna and salmon, but again: you could eat your weight in it at this place: Getting 7-10 pieces justifies the price alone. (Last time they had shrimp tempura with spicy tuna and cucumber, salmon/avocado maki, and some tuna and salmon nigiri, amongst other rolls.) The rest of the food, too, is decent considering how inexpensive it is. They have usual American Chinese restaraunt fare (crab rangoons, fried rice, General Gao's chicken, chow mein, chicken fingers), with a smattering of Japanese food (obviously, sushi. some seafood dishes, miso soup), random tidbits (chicken nuggets. Yes. nuggets.) and desserts (ice cream, sesame black bean paste balls, jello, cake, fruit.) I'd say its on par with a food court eatery. It's not the classiest place on Earth, but it's comfortable with good guilty pleasure food. So, stop whining that they didnt bring you a straw fast enough or that they're not bending over backwards for your allergies. (They also have napkin dispensers on each table, so I don't know what the one reviewer complaining about lack of napkins is talking about.) If you need absolutely impeccable service, don't go to a mom-and-pop located in a strip mall. Again: common sense. Bottom line: The prices make it worth it, just don't be a wuss lol read more

We came here when Flaming Grill told us it would be a "two hour wait". This low key and significantly smaller establishment appeared on my GPS. 10 minutes later, we arrived. The parking lot was spacious and offered tons of parking. We were warmly greeted and ushered to our seats. The buffet. $13.99 dinner buffet isn't too bad. The buffet itself was pretty small but honestly tasted much better than FG. The sushi options were overflowing with greatness so was the Chinese food being served. Green tea was free and servers came around every 10 minutes or so to refill water. When we were done with a plate, they swooped in and cleared it. The only thing I would point out is there was nothing remotely healthy. Almost everything was deep fried or soaked in grease. This place is great! We came into Yataka for a late lunch this weekend and have to say that we loved the place! The food selection here was incredible, and it was great to have such a great selection of sushi to choose from. The sushi was made fresh, and there was never a moment where the buffet was empty. The selection of hot food was great as well. My favorites were the crayfish and dumplings. This atmosphere here was great, the staff was always taking care of us, and the water/drinks never stopped coming. This is definitely a place we will come to again in the future! read more

This is a great place to get a quick meal on the way to logan airport. The actual flavor is really close to Cantonese Chinese American from LA, but it's missing something and on the spicy side. Pepsi, no coke! The best part is that everything is super fresh and hot without being dried out like typical buffets. There is also a sushi bar that is not as bad as one might think for a buffet. They have other Chinese food options that were also pretty tasty I would recommend the crab rangoons and the general Tso's chicken. Was in the mood for sushi whilst shopping at the Market Basket of department stores, Burlington Coat factory. I popped in to ye old buffet. I was astonished to see 8 kinds of sushi rolls and 2 rows of nigiri. Before I took any food from the buffet, I watched as the sushi chef worked making new rolls. I also saw a staff member remove and dispose of some of the sushi on display presumably because they were past their prime. This sent a sigh of relief through me. The sushi was decent, definitely fresh (still chilled, wooooo) and cheap. $30.00 for two with soft drink for the whole buffet. I can't speak on the hot offerings though as I just had sushi. If you start craving some raw swimmers, and you're in the neighborhood, skip Bisuteki and come here. read more

I don't know what I was expecting when I came here today. I read a lot of reviews early on and I wasn't expecting anything great but nothing bad either. I guess just a run of the mill buffet experience. When I first got there, I noticed that it had a good crowd at lunch time which meant that it was a good place if there were a lot of patrons there. I was with my nieces and elected to just try the buffet from the get go. The waiter we had was a nice fellow, and was courteous throughout the experience. He explained about the pricing which was 8.99$ a person which was quite the surprise. I think that that was a great bargain for a buffet. The buffet itself was mixed. I found the sushi to be super bland and unappealing. The sushi offerings made up a third of the selection so I was quite disappointed with it. The other part of the buffet was actually not all that bad. I loved the clams, the orange chicken and what not. I would say I enjoyed the food there as a whole. I would give the food probably a 7 out of 10.. mostly for the value. The reason why I am giving this place 2 stars is not because I was disappointed with the service.. it was actually great. Not because of the food either because it was great for the price. I give it 2 stars because I hate it.. HATE IT when you're at a buffet and even before you ask for the check they bring it to you... pretty much forcing you to leave. I am with two children under 13 and I myself did not eat a lot yet.. but they just had to bring me the check to force us to stop eating. How embarrassing is that? When I think about it.. yes the price was 8.99$ per person for the buffet.. but we didn't eat anything near that price-point before being ushered out with their check maneuver. From the moment we were seated, our waitress already had our drink order wrong. My boyfriend ordered a sweet tea and received an awful iced tea instead. I had to actually call our waitress out for my boyfriend so that he could get another drink instead, which we got charged extra for. I also asked for eel sauce for my sushi, our waitress then asked me, "soy sauce?" I replied, "No, eel sauce." And I received soy sauce. Also for it to be a buffet, it definitely didn't have a lot of food to choose from and everything I tried and ate was bland or cold or just flat out not good - from the noodles, rice, dumplings, sushi. So, we decided to take a nice Sunday drive out to the "North shore" from the inner city (about a 20 minute ride) to try this place, since my Yelp buddy, Theresa J. recommended it in her glowing review. The place is very nice inside. Very nice. Surprisingly nice. Large, spacious, immaculately clean, flat screen tv's, nice. The sushi bar is nice. The wait staff is attentive, friendly, and nice. The buffet. Well, not much on it, NO beef dishes (minus a star), and the food that was there, was just average. Tasty enough, but average. I mean, who ever heard of non-spicy KungPaoChicken without peanuts?? The peanuts are the ingredient that make it "KungPao". They were skimpy with the chicken, too, filling the pan with mostly veggies (celery and bell peppers) causing you to have to "pick" out the meat. Several shrimp dishes on the buffet, for you seafood/shrimp people. I don't do shrimp. Sushi: here's a GOOD part. If you LIKE a VARIETY of SUSHI, you are covered with this inexpensive buffet! Lots of variety, and it all looked fresh. Problem for me is, I like very specific sushi: salmon, tuna, crab- nigiri style preferably, and I don't like a lot of "stuff" in or on my rolls (avocado, roe, etc.). Needless to say, there was no salmon variety on the sushi part of the buffet bar. They did offer a nice selection of fruits, jello, pastries, and ice cream for dessert. Would I come back? Normally, I would avoid places like this in Revere, but I had been dying to get buffet. And for only $10 per person for lunch it seemed like a good deal. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the restaurant and the freshness of the food. Yes...the buffet doesn't have beef. But I i didn't even notice. They have the normal fried things (crab rangoons, crispy shrimp, egg rolls, etc.) to get your fix. And a bunch of yummy entrees that are too delicious to remember. Plus, sushi. To make the restaurant more busy and all of customers keep comeback , waitresses here have to understand about their job are : customer # 1 and buffe its mean customers can eat whatever they want, how much they want, you can not look at them and talk your language behind them, you should be shame about that. You open the business so you need customers, they came to support you so you get paid, you have to understand that to show your good attitude how to respect customers. I'm really happy with the food here but so disappoint with customers service. The absolute worst service I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. Sometimes they don't take the food and plates you're finished using. The restaurant could also use a makeover. The tables and floors are run down and aren't the cleanest. The Chinese staff act like elitists and are inhospitable and unfriendly to patrons. It's not dirty or gross, and not high-end or extravagant. There appears to always be ample amount of seating and booths for larger parties. The buffet station is located in the far corner with easy access for patrons. With all buffets, you always have to factor in price and quality. Well, the price of a dinner buffet is about $15. This price for the quality of sushi here is a pretty good deal, but the fact that the buffet also serves up Chinese dishes, this place is an absolutely great deal! They had a variety of rolls including Salmon Tempura Maki, Yutaka Tempura Maki, Grilled Salmon Maki, Alaskan Maki, Spicy Tuna Maki, Avo-kyu Maki, California Maki, etc... Because of the selection, this place actually makes an excellent choice for a sushi newb. Why is that you ask? Well, you have such a large variety of cooked and uncooked maki, and if the person still can't get into sushi, he/she can fall back on the other quality Chinese dishes. They also have Sashimi as well aside from the maki rolls. Granted it's a buffet and you serve yourself however shoving a bill in my face and making me pay right away and sign it the moment she got back. It's just simple customs and courtesies. I have terrible allergies to any product which contains citrus. I was about to fill my plate with the amazingly delicious sushi.... But luckily, I thought to ask the manager if it was made with any type of citrus. He told me that the vinegar they use to soak the rice in, did in fact contain a small amount of orange juice. Thank goodness I asked him because I didn't want to have to use my EPIPEN and call for an ambulance. He went into the kitchen, and found out which products contained any type of citrus, and which ones would not bother me. He then made a list and told me about every food item... he then asked me what type of sushi I like best and had the chef make ten pieces of sushi with a different type of rice... it was delicious... the salmon very was fresh as were the other ingredients as well. A the food bar, there was one item that I felt comfortable eating... It was shrimp, squid and vegetables in light tasty sauce. He told me that none of the fried ingredients contained citrus as well.... The manager told me that any time I came to the restaurant, they would make sushi with a special type of rice... just for me. He was so helpful, and I felt extremely comfortable talking to him. My husband ate the friend food... the chicken fingers, etc.... He said they were great as well. There is not a bad word that I can say about Yutaka Buffet. read more
