Terrible service! Called them to place an order over the phone and both ladies I spoke to couldn't answer questions about the menu. One lady was hard to understand because she barely spoke English. We were excited when we discovered that a Zankou Chicken moved into the Thousand Oaks, Ca location. Our Family was a huge fan for over 15yrs of Zankou Chicken in the Glendale Ca. area. When my daughter was up visiting and since the TO location if only blocks from my doctors office I decided to stop in for a take out order. Even though there was only one couple sitting in the outside area, and one other couple waiting for a to go order...I waited a 30-minutes! We ordered the dark meat Rotisserie plate, they gave us white meat is was so dry it was uneatable, the pita bread was stale & the hummus was flavorless. The chicken Tarna wrap had four hard pieces of burned chicken, with three pieces of dried out turnips, & wilted lettuces...no tomatoes, garlic or tahini sauce wrapped is stale pita bread. The steak kabob was just as disappointing! Additionally, the floors & tables were dirty, the girl at the register doesn't speak English and I dont mean just a little I mean none! I called out to the other young woman working there and the guy cooking (or pretending to cook)...they both ignored me. I know they heard me the were only 20ft way from me! Fast forward two months...yesterday we decided to try it again. I picked up chicken rotisserie wrap & falafel wrap with extra sides of tahini & hummus sauce, the cost was around $25.00! It was just as bad as the first time, maybe even worse...because we threw most of it in the trash!! Thank goodness I also stopped at the California Fish & Grill. Was excited to see this place open since I used to enjoy the one in West LA. But, after a couple of tries this one has been disappointing to say the least. Had the half chicken plate the last time and the chicken tasted like it was cooked a week ago and reheated a number of times to the point that the chicken had the consistency of mush. Ok, they've been open a whole month. Long enough to get it together - but NO. I placed 2 orders on line first one was 2 hot meals for pick up at 6:45 and then the second one for 2 cold salads also for pick up at 6:45. When I got there at 6:46, the first order was ready but they couldn't find any record of my second order. Why not? THEY RAN OUT OF PRINTER PAPER INBETWEEN!!! By the time they figured this out, there were at least 8 orders that printed out right away, then they stick up these older orders after the orders the cook was working on. By the time they got to my 2 cold salads (no one could dish them except the line cook, it was 20 minutes since I walked in. I won't bother going back. I was very excited to try this place for the first time because I have heard so many good things about their food. Staff was very nice and attentive. Great customer service. The food was ok, but the price was very reasonable. Seating was available but it was not the cleanest, tables were not wiped down after each customer. I will never go here again! I grew up in Los Angeles and have been to all of the Zankou Chicken places - this one is by FAR, THE WORST! The people behind the counter are terribly rude, the place is a mess and the girl who is calling orders has a voice like a buzz saw. Happy to have a Zankou out here. I usually have to drive to the valley but glad to have one close by now. Food is always so tasty. My brother got the kabob, takes like 15 minutes but it's bc it's cooked fresh so we were fine waiting. Vibe is cool, it'll be nice to sit on the patio next time we go when the rain stops. read more

Food was pretty good but not overly flavorful. The service not so much. Maybe they need more time to figure out customer service. I ordered my food and was advised it will take 15 minutes. The manager saw I was waiting a while and said will be another two minutes. Food came out a few minutes later but the order was wrong. One of the workers said something to the cooks and that was it. 20 minutes later the correct order came out. No apologies at all. Nothing offered from the entire team including the same manager who watched this go down. This does not fly well as I would have liked to be acknowledged and compensated for my time. I do admit we have not been to those locations but we were very underwhelmed with the TO restaurant. The chicken kabobs were spiced okay. The beef kabob was very chewy and not very good. Ordered takeout here. First thought when ordering was that the wrap is pretty expensive (one wrap for 9.99 when you can get 2 at FurnSaj in Calabasas for 12.99). The wrap was poorly constructed with a lot of dough just hanging about in a bunch. The pickled vegetables are really good, but the chefs did not bother to put it in the wrap at all, something I think stems from laziness. The steak was ok, not dry, but not super tender. Overall, I wouldn't go here at all but it wasn't terrible either. Solid place, but would not go here again. read more

Was waiting for months for this place to open up on Moorpark Rd. Had the chicken quarter, lamb gyro, and chicken gyro. The chicken quarter was the only good item. Not the lamb and chicken gyro were burnt, dry and not tasty. I will check out the kebabs next time. read more

I was so exited about Zankou chicken coming to Thousand Oaks . When I was in the valley, I always picked up an order of the chicken Shawarma. I don't remember it being called Tarna but it is dry . The garlic sauce is the bomb but the pickled turnips were hard . I am so bummed about the quality here but the service was amazing. The cashier was so nice and really knowledgeable. Supermarket chickens are better than this as is Pollo Loco next door. Sides were equally blasé. If you want good rotisserie chicken, go to Costco.
