Absolutely amazing food and if you park in the lot they validate your ticket! The experience was amazing from beginning to end. We were greeted by our waiter who was attentive all the way through. Food and service is really top-notch. Everything was very delicious with a unique spin on classic Mediterranean dishes - the babaganoush may have been the best I've ever eaten. Had the beet falafel, which was also amazing, and the pita bread was very fresh and tasted as if it were made on site. Mains were an encrusted fish and the shrimp casserole, which was not really a casserole in the truest sense of the word, but still very very good. Our servers were very attentive and friendly, and place settings were cleared promptly, new silverware brought without having to ask, water refilled at regular intervals, etc. etc. Took one star off for the chaotic vibe in there. We had a reservation and we couldn't even get up to the front desk for 10 minutes to check in upon arriving - there's a lot crammed into the front entrance space which is not very large - including the bar, greeter station, coat rack, etc. Even when we were leaving at 9:30, there was a huge line of folks that made it hard to exit! I can imagine the tables that are close to that area would be pretty miserable considering it's already quite loud in the restaurant. Also had the Turkish coffee tiramisu for dessert. All the above, plus a half-bottle of chardonnay came to $150 plus tip, so it's not cheap to eat here, but if you are looking for an upscale Mediterranean restaurant with some different and unusual items on the menu, it's worth a trip here. Zeugma serves some classic and unique Mediterranean dishes like the classic hummus which was smooth, creamy, and a good balance of lemon juice and olive oil. The Beet Falafel is a unique bite; I've never seen it anywhere else and actually love how much it elevates something so simple. The Kuzu was amazing - those lamb chops were incredibly tender, simply seasoned, and quite large. The truffle mousse was so addicting and was elevated even more by the chimichurri sauce. Like many restaurants, Zeugma is BYOB. They do have wines from Domenico Winery but unfortunately you can't try any because it's sold by the bottle or half bottle. We called the Wine Guys to deliver a bottle to our table and they were there within minutes. Love that! Service is good. Flood was flavor. I had the mushroom dumplings, which is an over a 100 year old recipe. I am someone who hates mushrooms but I enjoyed this dish. The food was absolutely delicious and great ambiance. We arrived a little early, there was mild hesitation to seat us but they were able to accommodate us. The service was okay, but I'm not sure if it was because they were giving us time to settle in OR if It was just a busy Friday so maybe that caused our waiter to forget our table at times and our side order of rice with our entree. Other than those two things our food came out without feeling like we were being rushed. I dined there and had a pretty awful experience. This is my first yelp review just because I feel like it was such a scary experience. I have food allergies, and was still fed foods I was allergic to while being told it was safe. The food I ate was delicious, but did not trust staff to keep me safe and ended up eating an allergen due to poor service. Server was talking about me to other servers and visibly annoyed when I was asking about what was safe to eat. If you have food allergies I would strongly encourage you not to eat here. Not sure if I got an off night or something but felt like I should let other people with allergies know that it's not allergen safe. read more

Wow...just wow. Everything was amazing. Let's just start with the wine, Wanted a mineral-ly white... they didn't seem to have what we were looking for, but the waiter recommended a wine and it was spot on! Started with the octopus, zatar bread, the shepherds salad with feta, and the mezze plate, with babaganoush, avogannoush, and eggplant with a tomato sauce. All of them were not just good but fantastic. The bread was soft but had a char, the octopus had an olive base with pumpkin seeds, yummy, the baba was a perfect texture and taste, the eggplant had hints of green pepper, and onion, and while it repeated on me a bit it was perfect and well worth a bit of heartburn. Then my wife and I both had the salmon main. We rarely order the same thing but I told her it seemed to combine several of my favorite things and I was not trying to share much, so she needed to order her own if that's what she was eyeing...and she ordered the same. The artichoke heart was crisp, but tender and had a flavor that complimented the salmon, as did the brussel sprout, and the sauce a creamy tomato with truffle was delicious. For dessert we got the meringue with raspberry sauce, which had a lovely nutty surprise, the baklava, which was just perfect and the rice pudding which was so yummy we ate it all. read more

This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I have never had anything that wasn't amazing. The MUSHROOM MANTI is amazing!! This is a dish I dream about. Honestly, there is nothing on the menu you won't like. The atmosphere is amazing. You can go in a nice pair of jeans or all dressed up and still feel like your dressed appropriately. If you want a romantic date - this is your place. If you want dinner with the girls - this is your place. If you want dinner with the guys - this is your place. The staff is amazing, attentive but not in your face. It's pretty far from me - but worth the drive. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

WOW, this place!!! I can't believe I've been living life without trying the most amazing beet falafels, and so have you! My friend and I found this spot for a birthday get together and I loved it so much I had to come back again, this time I brought my dad since he is a foodie monster just like his daughter lol. Amazing service, amazing food, and the dessert... the chef's special is like a fancy version of a pavlova in my opinion. The beet falafel salad y'all, with beet yogurt was just perfect (I'm drooling as I type this lol). The grilled octopus, SWEET MOTHER OF BEET FALAFEL!!! - the grilled octopus was exactly what I needed when I'm craving grilled seafood, I haven't had such amazing octopus like theirs. I came here a year ago for an impromptu dinner and had a wonderful meal. The lamb chops were so flavorful! We came back for an early dinner. We started with the miso calamari that was nice and soft, not chewy at all. I had the manti which were mushroom filled dumplings. They were surprisingly delicious. My fiancé had the shrimp casserole and it was delicious as well. Although we both enjoyed our dishes, we did not have the best service. I would rate the service 3/5. No one came to check on us, and at the end of the meal we waited about 20 minutes and were finally able to flag someone down for the check. We had the babaganoosh (smoked eggplant dip) with warm, crispy whole wheat bread, a refreshing and flavorful Shepard's salad, smooth and creamy whipped feta- I could have probably filled up on the appetizers alone! My friend had the organic chicken dish (good but the chicken came out on one skewer and the portion could have been a little more for the price). I had the salmon with the artichoke purée which was also good and had a beautiful presentation, but the salmon was slightly over cooked (I like my salmon crispy on the outside and buttery and it's on the inside)...still a good Mediterranean spot in Montclair that's byob! read more

So about a week ago I got a Yelp notification for this restaurant and I just so happened to click on it, so happy I did! I bookmarked it and later that day when my friend asked to meet up for dinner this week I immediately suggested this place. I love a good Montclair restaurant and this fits the vibe so well. Nice cozy restaurant, dressy casual atmosphere for dinner. We went on a Thursday so it wasn't packed, which makes me question why they chose to sit us next to a six top of very loud ladies who were obviously on their mom's night out. I'm still haunted by the fact that I didn't ask to be moved, they were so loud and annoying and it kind of ruined my experience. But only kind of because the food and the service was so good, definitely made up for it. We started with the three mezze sampler, you can choose three of the cold appetizer options. We went with the hummus, Bubba ganoush and labneh. Yum yum & yum. Tasty & perfectly topped with different spices/herbs to give it a nice touch. It is served along warm fluffy Pita bread, and a few sticks of carrot and celery. This is a great option for someone who is gluten-free, we ate every piece of it up. Of course I had reviewed the menu days before our dinner date and had my heart set on the salmon dish. It came with roasted artichokes and brussel sprouts on a schmear of artichoke puree. Wild salmon, spicy tomato sauce and what I can only describe as truffled bread crumbs. Outstanding! Everything was delicious and the flavors went together so well. Honestly I could have done without the spicy tomato, I didn't really need it but it added a nice color to the dish. My friend got the shepherd salad and added grilled chicken, the grilled chicken with seasoned nicely and she really enjoyed it as well. We were so full and could not eat dessert which was a bummer. I will definitely be back to try other food items, and noticed they also have brunch which I would love to try as well. Had lunch here. I was very disappointed. This place has gone down quickly. The food was barely edible.I ordered a cheeseburger with fries. The burger did not taste right and the fries resembled chips from a plastic bag. I could not eat them. The server had dirty long nails. I just wanted to pay and leave. Obviously I barely eat so he asked me if I wanted to take it home. I replied "No thanks. It was not good!" A decent server should have asked why. I will never go back! read more

I recently dined there on a Saturday night and was informed the kitchen would be closing in ten minutes. It was as around 9:30 pm. The wait staff seem to be anxious to leave; but the restaurant had quite a few guests . My companion and I recognize there has been changes made to the menu; however FOUR servicers came by our table table to ask if after properly placing my silverware on my plate, was I done. At least two servers attempted to remove my plate. I finally asked to speak with a manager but was told he/she had left for the night. In regard to food; four stars is a fair and appropriate rating. We ordered a lot of varieties- Zaatar bread, Dip platter ( special mention for the Pumpkin Muhammara ), Salad, Manti dumplings were a umami bomb !!! What an intoxicating experience. I came here with my friends in September and everything we ate was exploding with flavor and delicious. We had the sangria, and started with the mezze platter and chose the hummus, pumpkin muhammara and the babaganoush. All three were mouthwatering but the pumpkin Muhammara was a real knock out, we got the pitas that came with it and also ordered the pitas with the spices on it and that was a great choice too! For my meal I had the beef shish kebab and that meat was the most tender meat I've ever had!! The orzo it came with was delicious and I ate every last bit that was on my plate. I also was able to try one of the falafels made with beets and though I am not a beet person, that taste left me wanting more!!
