Great breakfast. I had the corned beef hash, my wife had the French Toast, and my kids split a pancake plate. All of the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. The price was just right too. When it was recommended to me to have breakfast here I was a little skeptical. It looks like a very old building with a bar attached to it. There is a small patio outside where people were smoking, I did not like walking through the smoke to get to the entrance. The service was great the food was a bit bland. This is a great little restaurant where I felt like I was home. The servers were all great and enjoying themselves. We at the French Dip with cheese and it was fantastic. We just sat a table for ten minutes waiting for service. The two waitresses were three booths away from us putting their entire focus on one couple. After one waitress went to sit outside and the other decided to help a table that came in after us but sat right next to their focus table, we left. Zingo's makes a good breakfast. I was going to temporarily go off my diet and eat some real back home food, so I choose Zingo. Once inside, I came to my senses and ordered the ham and cheese omelet with slice tomatoes and avocado. Those around me though were loading their bodies with "delicious tasting" gravy and "to die for" biscuits (Yummy) along with bacon and sausage. Zingo's is one of those Bakersfield early day cafe's, and still going strong. Truckers / oil field workers / farmers / ranchers. all walks of life eat at Zingos. Came in here after stopping by the boss and I was not pleased I ate a 50 cent charge for a take out box only to come home to the worst chicken fried stake I have ever eaten it was rubbery like the chefs sneaker had fallen into the deep fryer. The sides were all miss matched and spilling over the dividers in the take home box they tasted very bland. This place seems to survives based on its proximity to the highway and not the the quality of the food I honestly wish I would have gone to the dennys a few blocks down at least they dont charge for take out boxes. read more

We love this place after a night out! Portions are huge at reasonable prices. They definitely don't serve healthy food by any means so don't come here expecting not to be served greasy, fatty food. My favorite picks are the ham steaks and cinnamon rolls. You seat yourself and the menus are at all the tables so no need to wait. I have been going to Zingos for years. Not as a regular place to eat but as once in awhile place. I recently was there and had the patty melt with fries which was really good. The meat was cooked exactly as ordered the grilled onions were good and the grilled rye bread was grilled just right. It came with an over abundant amount of french fries and I ended up taking half the melt and half the fries to go as I couldn't eat it all. My husband had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Also huge portion. He also had the bisquits and gravy. He liked his meal but said the gravy was a litttle bland and I tasted it and it was. The chicken fried steak seemed a little doughey but I think it was because it was smothered with gravy. Overall his breakfast was good. His eggs were cooked perfectly he had a mound of hash browns and he too took some of his meal home. Zingos atmosphere hasn't changed much over the years but it's not bad. The waitresses are always really nice and really attentive. It's a nice place to have diner food. Just remember tthat is what your getting is diner food not gourmet food. It's been around a long time and always has a meal that fills you up and is tasty. Not perfect but again this is diner food and taste like it. Much better than Denny's or other chain restaurants in my opinion. Prices are good and you always get a lot of food. It's worth a try to go to if passing through Bakersfield. read more

Wow!!! Very disappointed!!! Why did my kids and myself have to dine on a wet table thru our entire meal... yes we spill the water but shouldn't someone come clean since they kept walking by the table... And why did we get our tab right after we got our meal. Plus why the waitress didn't even come check on us and the only time she is after we left the table to make sure we pay the bill. read more

We had a great meal at Zingo's last night. Our server was very friendly and very attentive. We enjoyed a BLT and some all-day breakfast. We ended our meal with coffee (which they brewed fresh for us) and pie. Quick tip ... whole pie for only $10! We ate two pieces there and took the rest to go! Super good value. read more

Neat little place to grab breakfast or - for the more adventurous - get food to take next door in to the hole in the wall bar. We did both during our brief overnight stay in Bakersfield. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. (the home fries really took the cake) My only complaints are that the burgers weren't handmade as the waitress claimed and the homemade batter on the chicken fries steak was doughy and somewhat bland. read more

I got my usual chicken fried steak breakfast..Tasty but the reason I didn't give five stars is because my potatoes were wrong so after being sent back they were a little undercooked. my husband got the deep pit omelet a shredded beef omelette that was perfection and his country potatoes were delicious.. Was there last Saturday, 4 of us had breakfast, its a funky local spot, and I would pick it again over the ihop and denny's 1 mile down the road. I've been here a few times always for breakfast. Service has always been pretty good, food is served at temp and there is a good breakfast menu (Can't comment on other items). This is a Bakersfield classic -- not fancy but comfy and quite large so it can handle a lot of business. read more
