Have heard Zippy's is a local favorite so I figured we'd try it. The Good: Absolutely nothing, nada, zip, zilch. The Bad: It took the waitress seven tries to find us a clean table. She'd walk up, look at the disgusting table, apologize and move on. On number 7 she gave up and wiped it off with a questionably clean rag. All the while five staff people stood around talking in the serving area. They stayed their for the next 45 minutes and did nothing. I asked the waitress what the soup of the day was and she said, "some kind of chowder." I asked if she meant "clam chowder" (English isn't her fist language) and she nodded. It was canned cream of mushroom soup and awful. My son ordered their famous chili and it was Dennison's canned chili to a "T" Let's put it his way -- Denny's gets five stars by comparison and I hate Denny's! If you're going to be in Hawaii you should eat like a local here. We had the miso chicken, Korean fried chicken and the mini pac. They were all surprisingly good. The place was well lit and cleaned. Wish they have this on the mainland. read more

During my visit to zippy's, I had the small portion of Korean Chicken. It turned out to be really good. Their Chicken didn't have too much sauce on it so it wasn't to sweet. However, it was a little on the crunchy side. I liked the mac salad with some seasoning on it. And the plate included just enough white rice to go with the portion size. The time it took to be seated in the sit down area was okay. It took a little time to actually get our food. However, I was in a big group and about 65% of the seating area was full. The wait staff was great. Some of their menu items allow you to get a few sides in terms of meal plans like dessert, salad, drinks. It's kinda impressive how some of the staff can remember how everything is written on the menu to some degree and make sure the order is right. read more

As far as Maui restaurants go this place is pretty good. Maybe 3.5 stars, if you like dark meat chicken. The Korean chicken had a nice flavor and crispiness to it, I just prefer white meat. The macaroni salad had a good creamy flavor. That really all I had, my husband had the fried chicken which was dark meat also, crispy put not real flavorful. read more

Ick! Terrible service, lame salad......I can't believe anyone eats here unless they're starving at 4 am. I ordered the chef salad and it was okay...but really nothing outstanding about it at all. My waiter disappeared for long periods of time and I finally walked out without receiving a check. I just left $20 on the table. I hope that covered it. read more

Came here fir late night saimin. We always enjoyed our visits here. Picked up lunch here quite a few times always fast and fair priced.

I don't know what happened to this place. The staff are no longer friendly, I have had four times problems with my food ie not cooked completely, cold food or small portions this was never the case before. Hope they fix the problems soon. read more

The shuttle driver National Car Rental gave us the tip that Zippy's was open 24/7 and that by the time we got to Lahaina everything would be closed. So we took her advice and headed over there! We order the chicken katsu which came with Mac salad and 2 scoops of rice. They do have half portions available as well! The service was ok but the food hit the spot after a 6 hour flight! I just got off the phone with the "Mangler" Mike to let him know what a disappointment today's carry out experience was & he couldn't have cared any less. The fried chicken was old & cold - not the first time I've been served like this @ Zippy's. Instead of listening and apologizing Mike was quick to tell me how often they make their Fried Chicken. I had tried to phone in the order twice because of long waits in the past and the phone just rang and rang. When I got there, as usual so many employees not taking care of their customers or answering their phones. I will not go back, would never recommend it to anyone and as a part-time taxi driver would never introduce them to a passenger. read more

I wish we can have Zippy's here in the Bay area! Zippy's definitely a place to go when in Hawaii. This particular place, parking is spacious and service is fairly quick and it is near the airport. We were in Maui for 5 days and we probably ate here 4x (oh my goodness) because it was the only restaurant open after 8pm in Maui (everything else closes so early!). My favorite is the Zip Pack and their Loco Moco! Servings are huge and I never finish my food. Price is reasonable. All i can say, Zippy's is the place for comfort food after a long day of touring the island or just a place to go to for some good Hawaiian food with the family. I love the oxtail soup, malasadas, and napples. When they first came to maui, it was long over due. The chili and rice is all I would have back then, even when going to Oahu. It is great to have Zippy's here on Maui now, but I feel their food is very over priced now. read more

Place an order for to go. As soon as I finish placing my order, I ask Mildred who was the person that was helping me at that time if rice can be replace for mashpotatoes. Mildred responded with having my receipt on her hand, dropping her hand on the counter, looking at me and sighed. I was trying to explain that some cashier offers an option sometimes and before I even finish with my statement she cuts me off and said "NO, we do not do that" give her a smile and I just said thank you.
