On this recent trip to NYC for work, I decided to hit up the local "cheap" pizza spots. Having grown up in Brooklyn, I've eaten at all of the famous tourist places like Grimaldi's, John's of Bleeker Street, Joe's, DiFara's, etc. TBH, those places are all good...but I'm not going to wait an hour to eat there and pay $35+ for a large cheese pizza. I was staying in Midtown near Times Square, so I decided to stretch my legs and do what New Yorkers do, and pop into long time stalwart of cheap pizza, 2 Bros. Before the pandemic, they were were one of the favorites of $.99 pizza. And sure, the price for a cheese slice has gone up to $1.50 - but if you get the special which is two cheese slices and a soda for $3.99, you ain't getting a better deal than that anywhere in Manhattan. It's best to go during peak times to ensure the pizza is hot, but depending if the guy taking your order is feeling up to it, he may or may not toss yours slice back into the oven for 30 seconds to heat it back up; he did this for me upon request. There are a few tables you can stand and eat at, and likely you'll need to share; but again, this is how New Yorkers do it. Pizza is nothing exceptional, but has the things a New York cheese slice should have. Sauce which isn't too sweet, good amount of cheese, and crust which is thick and charred just enough for folding. Load it up with garlic powder, chili flakes, and Italian seasoning and you have a complete meal for less than $5. I know people like to look down on these cheap pizza places...but there is usually a long line of hungry customers, so it can't be that bad, right? Anyway, there are many 2 Bros throughout Manhattan, so next time you're visiting NYC, IMHO, it's worth a stop. read more

Slices are decent size, sauce isn't anything to write home about but it's hot and cheesy and don't forget - greasy. If you haven't had any slices of 2 Bros Pizza, then you really haven't had the infamous NYC $1 pizza experience. As a kid growing up in the East Village, the 2 Bros Pizza at Astor Place is where I turn to after schools and on occasions when I would be starving and needing a quick bite. 2 Bros Pizza slices were always so generous, big and fluffy. On occasions, it's burned on the crust, which gives you that flavor. It's different than your thin slice that is evenly burned on the bottom. I will admit, these are not my favorite slices but it does the job when you need it. Cheap, fast, and on the go. Even today, after inflation, two slices + a soda/water at $3.99 is an incredible deal/steal. Not to mention we are right in the heart of FiDi. In comparison to a couple of pizzeria that advertises as two slices with a drink at $5.99 or $6.99. Their pizza look so sad and the dough look so white and dull on the bottom. When you look through the glass-doors, you just know those ones at a higher prices may not taste as good as 2 Bros. At 2 Bros, you are not only getting the better quality fluffy slices, you are also getting a better deal in comparison to its competitors nearby by far. At this particular location in FiDi, the only complaint I have is that it doesn't have any seating area so it makes the service go fast and it's more like a grab and go type of deal. There are two standing tables outside in front of a closed store. While the Astor place location has seating inside. PS: They also have other flavor pizzas. I would give it a try if you can eat! PSS: This is for 2 Bros management - I have read several reviews that many expressed that your pizza is too doughy. If you take their advice and roll out your thick slices to thiner slices and give it a good burn (which also saves you doughs too), you can make your pizza better. It is a very quick grab-and-go kinda place. I was very surprised with how many different options there were, ready to be served, so I ended up going with a meat lover's. I got two slices and they were HUGE. One would have been just enough! Wow... I totally get the hype, because their pizza is fantastic. It really scratched that itch I was having. I have ordered from this business in the past with no issue. Today, I ordered a pizza pie for delivery. I live in a co-op of 9 buildings. 2 Bros Pizza delivered the pie to my apartment number in the WRONG building and I don't even know where that building is. I reported this to 2 Bros. I had evidence (my front door photos vs. their photo did not match), plus the wrong address had somehow appeared above my address on their website. I have no idea how. There's no reason I would enter another building's street address other than my own! Instead of immediately issuing me a refund for the $23, or sending over another pizza, they said they would have to "conduct an investigation to see if it was their fault or not before giving me the refund". What? This is why I've decided to take the time to rate them here. I rarely give online feedback. If I do not get a refund, I'll have my credit card company put it into "Dispute". If that doesn't work, I will take the business to Small Claims Court. Their response to THEIR ERROR in delivery is unacceptable and one would think they'd "make good" on their error. I will never order from this business again or patronize their store. They have lost a (few) customers because of this. In the meantime, I ordered a pizza from Rosella's for my company, who was waiting to have lunch. read more
