First time coming in and I will never come back. Ordered few items from the lunch specials menu: spicy salmon sushi, spicy tuna, spicy albacore and it was a really bad experience here. I got the spicy salmon sushi handroll and it didn't taste fresh yet tasted too fishy. The seaweed part of the handroll was too chewy.. usually the seaweed part of the sushi is dry and not so chewy. Got also the California Handroll and again the seaweed part on the outside was chewy and not fresh. Also got the eel and cucumber roll and it didn't taste fresh. The baked eel tasted really dry and had fishy taste again at the end. At the end of eating our meals, my friend all of a sudden got heart burn after eating the meal. This never happens and should NEVER happen. This ruined our day coming here and never coming back. My friend used to come here a lot during college but it's not as great sushi place as it was back then. One star only for customer service. read more

Love this place! The first time I came here i was visiting a friend and I was viciously hungover and the hostess was kind enough to let me run to the bathroom so I could do my hangover thang, and then I ordered miso soup. It was delicious and helped a lot. Little did I know I'd end up living nearby and start coming all the time! The ambience is chill, service is quick, everyone's friendly but not overly so. So, the parking lot is a little small but well worth the wait to park to eat here. The sushi is extremely fresh, and the service was super fast. They have some nice cocktail selections too. If I can give 0 stars I would, in the beginning this restaurant had quality service and quality fish. As time has passed they have been slowly losing their touch, if all feels a bit rushed and as if they dont care for the quality of food they are producing. As I sit here for hour waiting for a simple online order I notice they try their hardest to dance around the fact they are not preparing the food. Beware , I ordered the rainbow roll and a shrimp tempura roll with tuna on the outside . I have to admit I'm not the most sophisticated sushi consumer but I have ordered many of these rolls from multiple sushi bars. My complaint is that I nearly choked after encountering the raw wasabi wrapped inside the sushi . It's been a minute since I have been here and I can't say that it has been a great experience. The cuts of fish are much larger than in the past (not good). Just moved up here and finally found a decent sushi spot. I noticed hardly anyone around here knows what good fish is and think grocery store sushi/sashimi is good. 39 Degrees (opened in 2013) is run by same owner as I Luv Sushi in Lakewood (opened in 2008) and I didn't realize this fact until I noticed 39 Degrees shared exactly the menu as I Luv Sushi's. There's a parking lot for 39 Degrees and it was a big plus because you don't have to drive around and look for street parking. Two of their HDTVs were playing NBA games and this place does happy birthday celebration that involves dimming the light and blasting happy birthday song. 39 Degrees' version of happy hour (aka the Happy Tummy Hours) happens on Monday to Saturday from 3 PM ~ 7 PM and Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM. During the Happy Tummy Hours, you can choose any of the four "pick 6 items" combinations (one $35 option to three $40 options - generally enough food for feed up to 2 adults). I figured that 6 items were too much, so I ordered à la carte instead. *** Rainbow Roll ($8): Good fish quality and it was a surprisingly tasty dish. Pocket Monster (snow crab, cream cheese, and shrimp wrap with soy paper - $6): This dumpling-looking appetizer contained cream cheese and warm imitation crab. I actually think it was pretty good. This place is also very popular which makes it difficult to get a table because it's small. The Happy Hour brings in the crowd. But if you're patient it's worth it. If not, then get it to go. Went for dinner last week. Looked thru the extensive menu and ordered a ton of food since it was my first time eating there. I spent $77. It was the worst food ive ever eaten. The sampler plate was unrecognizable. Extremely dry and over cooked. The sushi tasted frozen and thawed.Rice was hard, fish was dry and the shrimp spongy. The soup was tasteless and under seasoned. I called and was refunded $22. I understand that due to the pandemic some restaurants may have to cut back and preserve leftover food by freezing. Mostly street parking as the shared lot gets packed during traffic hour. Happy hour menu has a decent variety of food and drinks, but quality of fish is just ok. They do have a variety of vegetarian rolls available. Black Pearl was a good vegetarian roll w the mustard greens providing most of the flavor. Rainbow roll was good but the quality of the fishes were just ok. They were soft but kind of dry. Sushi bars should not smell so fishy. Fresh fish doesn't smell. I ate there twice and was gagging over the smell.

Not as good as I remembered. I use to come here all the time before the pandemic and this was my first time back. I love tuna and I have to say, the tuna at a grocery store like hmart is better quality than here. It was that just thawed pinkish color and texture was blah. I also don't remember them charging for sauces back then but I could be wrong. 75 cents for a teeny tiny container of spicy Mayo is ridiculous. Yet they throw in tons of soy sauce packets that will just go in the trash. There's been several times where they would forget and leave out items in my order such as white rice or salad etc but I felt they were just small items no big deal, so I never even bothered with them. I love this spot! As a vegan-ish eater, I'm obsessed with all of their options. My favorite is to go with a handful of other vegetarians and order all of the options so that we each get 1-2 bites of each roll. I guess meat-eaters can do this most of the time, but this is one of the only sushi places I can do this at (without it being a vegan place)! I've been going for years in person and it's been my fav takeout spot for the last year. Most wouldn't think that sushi would be great takeout, but they do it right. I order from their website (10% discount!) and more often than not, they give me a call before I've even left the house that it's ready. I really appreciate that they call and give us a heads up that our food is ready. I think we've waited 10 minutes once in the last year and it's been no big deal. If you haven't been, try them out!
