She had been eying this restaurant for a while, so I figured, why not? We went on a Wednesday, so it was pretty empty due to everyone being at work, which was perfect. There were 2 or 3 other guys in there that must've had known the owner, but they weren't a bother. My wife and I noticed the plethora of food choices to choose from, and we got started. We're pescatarian, so there were plenty of seafood options. The only thing that was surprising is that all of the broths are bone broths and none were veggie. We didn't care. We made an exception that day and went with the traditional most popular broth. It's $15.99 per pound when choosing your food, so be careful if you're trying to save money. Lol. You can easily get carried away choosing what foods to put into your bowl. The service was sooooooooo great! The owner and the other employee working were so nice and accommodating. A lot of the veggies weren't particularly exciting and they had a big array of fish balls - which seemed redundant. The meats were okay looking. The restroom was okay clean. I got just a small bowl with a few items and it came out to just under $20. I tried the tomato broth and didn't think it was anything special. Street parking only which isn't great if you come during weekends or dinner hours. Overall, a bit underwhelming. The food is just average here. We were hoping to cook our own food -- that's most of the fun for our kiddos -- but of course didn't read closely enough ahead of time. This restaurant's model is to take what you select and cook it in the back kitchen for you, and then bring it out. Caveat emptor. Ingredient quality was fairly high across the board. Tiny bay scallops were very fresh, tilapia was as well, though a touch "muddy" in flavor. Also on offer: bok choy (da bai cai), spinach, corn, baby corn, lotus root, pumpkin, enoki mushrooms, "black fungus" aka wood ear fungus, kani, several types of fish balls, sausages, a variety of konjak noodles, mung bean thread, ramen, and udon noodles, two cuts of beef (one lean-ish, one fattier), shrimp, quail eggs. Not a place I'd go to with anyone who has a severe food allergy. There must be cross contamination as customers use one set of tongs to select items for their bowl. Main dry ingredients are weighed and you are charged accordingly. Gratis additions include finely minced garlic, scallions, chili sauce, sesame sauce, soy sauce and black vinegar. The tomato broth was not available on our visit, but both the "original" and bone broth were excellent, a touch oily (e.g. reminiscent of marrow-enriched pho), deeply flavorful. We also tried the sukiyaki (sweet and salty) and tomato broth, and everyone enjoyed the food. Friendly service, too. I recently got to try this new hot pot restaurant and was very happy with the cleanliness of the restaurant and hot pot ingredients, the friendliness of the staff, and the flavor of the soup broth. I really liked that they separated the portions of the meat into individual trays, however it made me feel torn between getting 1 tray of meat versus 2 trays. At other self service hot pot restaurants, they usually put the meat all in one pan for you to get as much as you want. As a grand opening special, if you show them that you check in on Yelp, you can get a free soda can. But if you forget to check in, they still have a passion fruit tea dispensing station that you can drink to your hearts desire. read more

I drove past this place a week ago and I was shocked to see a hot pot place in the area. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a very friendly gentleman. I told him I had never been there before and he was glad to tell me how everything worked. You grab a bowl and tongs, put all your hot pot ingredients into that bowl, and go to the front to pick a soup base. You can also order rice and soda up front. I got a free can of diet coke for checking in on yelp. There is also a condiment bar with black vinegar, soy sauce, grated garlic, chili oil, green onions, and sesame paste. Since it was my first time I ended up grabbing too much of some things right away and accidentally overloaded my bowl to 1.5 lbs (about $23, including a white rice) Way too much food for one person. There was one girl working the register and also serving and cleaning but the service was great and she was very nice and attentive. Good selection of toppings, noodles, meat and broth - you're able to get it as a soup or stir-fry but we always get it as a soup. There was also a little sauce station to make your own dipping sauce and they had regular service water or some type of cold citron tea for free. Depending on how much you get it could cost more but we did about 1.5 pounds each and it came out to about $35 each and it comes in a huge bowl - we definitely had leftovers and it heated up well on the stove. My bowl was over 3 lbs (more than $45!!) So be careful what you pick. The half bone broth/half spicy broth was perfect, and while my bowl was a bit expensive, I was super stuffed at the end!
