Highly overpriced for what it is, 85C basically sells pure (highly) processed wannabe pastries that want to look and taste like French or Japanese fine patisserie, but totally fails at it. In addition, single-use plastic wrappers and cardboard for each pastry is overkill, should be fined, and a definite turn-off. Be sure to ask if the pastries you purchased are fresh or resuscitated from the freezer. Lastly, be ready to be content with nasty old pipe tasting water from the tap, served in tiny medication size cup, when you ask for water. They actually give you water in bathroom type cups you typically buy at smart & final or Walmart stores. So easy to invest in basic washable plastic or glass cups and a jug of neutral tasting water. Especially when you charge close to $4 for a mediocre chocolate croissant. You're either classy (and justified charging lots for your product).. or you're not. 85C is way, way not. This is by way the nicest and best 85 degree we frequent in terms of customer service. Other stores have refused to take our pre-order, even though we tried to give them business by ordering 30 buns for a party all the time. The fullerton location won't even pick up the phone. The Garden Grove location will tell you no pre-order accepted for their buns. This store will generously take our pre order with a smile! I will be back to this location for sure! We have been coming to 85 for many years and it has always been a solid shop. You can't go wrong with basically any pastry but their drinks can sometimes be hit or miss depending on the location and what you order. However, this visit I especially enjoyed the 85 iced coffee with coffee jelly. It wasn't overly sweet, the right amount of milk, and good strong coffee flavor. It had been a while since I had it but I'm glad I had it again. Also, at only $3.75 for a large, you can't beat that. My biggest complaint is the inconsistency with their pastries. I have been there with the majority of the bins empty. The only positive that I see is that it shows that their products are fresh but it is quite frustrating when you aren't able to get something that you are craving. read more

I've been to a the Glendale location and the Orange location and I'm a fan of both stores. Both stores are clean and inviting. I like the selection of different items here from sweet to savory. I've tried lots of different things here and have enjoyed them all. The pastries are fresh and taste good. The sweets are equally as good from the cookies to the moose. The staff are helpful and the current set up because of the virus, was done well with everything individually packaged. I'd recommend 85 degrees to anyone looking for a bakery/pastry shop. read more

First timer here and I must say, why haven't I been here sooner??? I've made numerous attempts to check this place out and regret not going sooner! I feel so bad for not remembering the lady's name who helped me but boy, everything she recommended was to die for!!!! I ordered a few milk pudding buns (not sure if that's what it's called hehe), brioche bread, spinach/kale, and hot dog with cheese. So far, omg...soooooo goood!!!!! My wife got me a Black Forest cake for my birthday party yesterday and it was such a disappointment. The cake was beautiful to look at and the packaging was nice but that was literally the only positives. The white frosting was so artificial it left an aftertaste on my tongue. The cake was so dry you can easily choke on it. The cake is also not sweet so in the mixture of chocolate black cherries and that frosting you get a really bad bitterness taste. The cake also had chocolate shavings on the top but it didn't help with the bitterness of the cake because it was dark chocolate. I am beyond disappointed in my visit. I ordered a cake to be picked up where I had specified that I wanted a sign that said "Happy Birthday Lorena". I came to the store on my pick up date and time, the cake was not ready, employees had no clue what was going on, they tried to give me the cake that was on display in the window, the sign was not ready and I had to remind them that I had ordered it. After waiting a good 10min for them to figure out where the cake was and to make the sign, they gave me the sign in a plastic bag, stuck to the receipt which is very unsanitary. The paper was sticky all over, the sign was barely readable and the cake cutter that came with was opened. This is completely unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. read more

Coffee Monday is a must, 85 cent medium coffee is the special this year, while last years large sea salt was much better, at this price it is still very much worth coming for. I love their pastries, both sweet and savory, priced well at under $2 each and baked fresh throughout the day. Their cakes are not just gorgeous, but also delicious and again priced well at around $30, available for preorder or pick up on short notice, they usually have the full selection available, perfect for a birthday or party. This place just opened! They have a lot of specials and giveaways happening right now. The parking lot's spaces are very tight and there are not many open spots. The store is new and very clean. I'm a regular at the Irvine, Tustin and Westminster Locations. I stop by here thinking I would get my simple order of large Sea salt coffee. Not only was the coffee extremely water down, the sea salt foam was flavorless, watery and warm (I noticed that the foam was never put back into the fridge, it was just sitting at the counter the whole entire time I was there). I only took one sip and threw it out, it was the worst Sea Salt coffee I've ever had. I would HIGHLY recommended avoiding this location as much as possible. :( read more

Went to the first day of the side opening and I wasn't disappointed! I came around 8:30 and expected it to be crazy busy, but surprisingly, it was pretty slow... I ain't complaining though! I grabbed a few different types of bread and made my way to the cashier. Even though they were still practicing, the cashier rang me up quickly. I was a little disappointed that I didn't see any berry tales (sweet bun with a blueberry and cream cheese filling), but they had the choco bun! They also had a lot of calamari stick, which is also super bomb. Parking may be a bit difficult to find as that small parking lot is already very busy because of in n out. I was very disappointed with the pastries. They looked promising. The presentation of all the things was nice. I bought one of their bacon and cheese bread things, a spicy sausage pastry, a cinnamon roll, a slice of red velvet cake, and one of their mango pastries that looked like a squishy ball. I didn't pay much for all the things I got which was good. When I got home, I couldn't wait to try the things I bought. The mango pastry was decent. It had a strange consistency but it wasn't bad. The cheese and bacon bread was actually good. No complaints there. The spicy sausage was not good. I'm not sure what hot sauce was used for it, but it was not tasty and enjoyable. I thought the sausage itself was spicy but it was actually the sauce on it that made it spicy. Not a fan of that one. Then I moved onto the cinnamon roll. And compared to the previous pastry I had eaten, this tasted great. But as I kept eating it, I realized it was very dry and it tasted like a croissant. A cinnamon roll that tasted like a croissant. I was let down. I finally moved on to the red velvet slice. I was super stoked because I love red velvet. But when I bit it... I felt nothing but disappointment. It was so dry. And it didn't even taste like red velvet. It tasted like chocolate. It was a sad moment. This place goes for the presentation of its pastries. But they're nothing special. Luckily it isn't over priced. But still, I wouldn't eat their pastries again. I don't know how this place has 4 stars. read more

We came here bright and early at 6:30am to get our breakfast fix before our Disneyland trip. True to its opening hours, they flipped on the lights and unlocked the doors promptly. I was sad that they didnt have all the breads readily available yet. like my fave, marble taro, was nowhere to be found. They said we would have to wait another 20 mins for it to come out which is reasonable, but we didnt want to delay our trip. My fav 85C location in OC. Friendly service, drinks are consistent, and they are always well stocked with pastries! My favorites are the coconut twists, milk tea bread, and spinach danish. Their coffee drinks are good too, but I like their iced americanos not too weak, not too strong. Their milk teas are on the sweeter side, but I prefer their green teas most. Only down side is it can get pretty packed in here during peak hours. I think they are currently short staffed so the line can be long, but the staff are always friendly regardless. read more

Love this place. I always stop by here to pick up goodies for my staff and a nice hot drink. My experience today was unusual & I would like for someone to follow up with an employee at the register who worked today at around 5:30 PM 1-17-22.... He/she had short hair, a little heavyset, Asian. I say he/she because I couldn't really tell and I didn't catch the name. This employee was hot headed and threw a tantrum because she did not know how to make a hot sea salt chocolate. This employee was throwing cups and slamming things. This employee took his/her frustration out on the female employee working in the back. This employee kept repeating "I was on vacation and no one told me this". All this is in front of me, who stood quietly and patiently waited for this employee to figure it out and I got my drink and left. I personally love coming to this location. Usually my brother and I do a Friday thing we're we just come here for breakfast and pick up a few items for the day. The staff is helpful and friendly, I go so often one of the employees even knows the drink I like to get. Their 85 bakery application is great! They have special offers for some delicious drinks on the app. I really appreciate the fact that with every purchase you can link it to your account on your app. You can accumulate those points that can go towards free treats, like adding free boba to a drink for example. I usually go to the one in Irvine and most of their pastries are on point, the pastries at this location are lacking in how they are made. I am no expert at baking but I'm not sure what it is that they do different than the other locations when making pastries, for examples One of my favorite Is the White chocolate strawberry bread and evertime I get one it looks like a pink blob and it definitely doesn't taste good. read more
