I came to write a review only to realize I've already written one. Here's an update! As much as I'd like to keep this place to myself, I could not come here enough to keep it in business and I want it to stay in business! I do feel like it is not talked about enough. Has a laid back hipster vibe. We got there 5 min before happy hour (HH) ended. And our server accommodated us to order from the HH food & drink menu. We tried chicken wings (quite large & delicious) fingerling potatoes(no French fries but these definitely serve that need) & deviled eggs ( i rarely like restaurants deviled eggs but these were good). All 3 HH reduced price items were good. Drinks were very good: the Dumbo looked & tasted like an old fashioned and the Garden District with mezcal was tasty & not sweet. Off the main dinner menu we had the duck and burger, both really wonderful and the beet salad was not my favorite but was ok if you're really wanting beets. Overall a good experience. If you are wanting a bar vibe but also want to eat this is major steps above "bar food". read more

We've been here a few times now, but on our most recent visit, we came for brunch! Parking and Decor - 5* They have a small dedicated lot with a handicap spot for those who need it (like me right now!). There is street parking as well. This spot has all the feels that one would expect when visiting a low key, hip coffee shop while being more than just coffee! The patio deck is a nice touch for those days when the weather cooperates. We've sat out there and noticed how it isn't as noisy as one might expect in several patio bars that are right next to some main thoroughfare. Food and Drinks - 4* We haven't had anything that was disappointing from a good perspective. In our most recent visit we had the BLT sandwich and the Hangover Burrito. The hangover burrito is a healthy portion and is delicious. The BLT is ridiculous. I'm house smoked bacon that are thick cuts with a massive fresh tomato and lettuce. It's messy, but will leave you full. We actually ordered the phozole and it turned out they had just 86'd it for the day so they hooked us up with some chilaquiles, which were great! It is clear the owner and staff take pride in customer happiness and your experience. That is why I'm gonna go 5* here despite some minor hiccups in the visits. They seem to care and want to improve where they can. They recently partnered with Fellowship Coffee and you can order directly with them via a separate QR code at the table. Though notably if you order a mash up drink such as coffee with alcohol, you must first order the coffee with Fellowship Coffee before 93 til can make the drink. We were happy to do so, but I feel this could be solved without the extra customer effort rather simply through incorporating the cost of the espresso into cocktail price with 93 til and then collecting a total amount of drinks sold on the backend directly between Fellowship Coffee and '93 til. In our instance we had the French Connection, which was delicious! The Bloody Mary is definitely not your traditional Bloody Mary as it contains fermented tomato water. So be prepared as it isn't going to be what you expect. If I had a vote, I think the traditional bloody gets my nod for a traditional brunch. Nothing like a good spicy and peppery, bloody with a heavy hand of Worcestershire. Service - 5* Very friendly staff. They are open to hearing your feedback and definitely have the right mindset. Cost - 5* Always subjective as I say, but I would say everything is priced well. We walked away full without a completely exhausted pocket. That's big in todays age where you may be wanting to get repeat business easily. Overall - 5* I highly recommend this spot anyone who is looking for a killer local spot that's low key for relaxing with friends and family. We will definitely continue to come back here! read more

Overall, cool place to grab drinks with friends and munch on food. Sometimes they have a live DJ. I've been here a couple times and have tried a few of their small plates and their chicken sandwich. I've found the food to be hit or miss. The cocktails I've tried are pretty good, but I didn't get any this second time. They have happy hour tues - fri until 6pm FOOD Radicchio salad ($11) - a must, super refreshing and they seem to change up the ingredients with whatever fruit is in season. Elote gnocchi ($12) - do not recommend. The gnocchi was okay, kind of crispy on the outside, but the sauce was SUPER weird. It tasted almost like it was bad, or if it had alcohol in it it did not reduce enough. I don't know, did not get any Elote taste at all. Fried green tomato ($10) - this was okay. Not really worth the $10 IMO Chicken sandwich ($16) - one of my favorite chicken sandwiches. The second time I got it, it seemed smaller than I remembered, BUT still delicious. I think the chicken is super juicy and love the slaw/pickles. PARKING There is a very small lot and street parking. Sometimes you get lucky and someone's leaving the lot as you pull in, but I've always seen it full. AMBIENCE The decor is nice and it has more of a lounge vibe. There's a mix of tables and some sofa chairs. I personally think the music is too loud, but that might just be the vibe? For me it wasn't really a place for cozy, comfy date night, but more of getting together with some friends and hanging out. SERVICE You seat yourself and then the server will come with water and take your order. The waitstaff have always been friendly every time I've gone. read more

Ehhhh. I think this place is a bit confused. It was a bar atmosphere but is trying to serve high end dishes that are hit or miss. We came on a night that wasn't crowded. Service was slow and inattentive. Waiter skipped over our table, rarely checked on people. The kitchen and bar were also slow. People that were there before us were just getting drinks after we'd been seated a whole. Seemed to be issues all around. Brick chicken (4/5)- moist, flavorful, and hearty. Skin could have been a little bit crispier, but wasn't chewy. Red Fish (2/5)- would have been good but was served raw in the middle. And redfish is not the type of fish you eat raw. So we had to send back. We honestly wanted to leave and go elsewhere after this but they offered to replace. Scallops (3/5)- these were the replacement. There were only 3 with a small purée of squash under. They were prepared ok but not spectacular. I felt too small for the price. Potatoes (3/5) - ok just the texture was off. Crispy on outside but inner was not fully done Overall I think this place needs to decide what it wants to be and focus on making that good. read more

I've been here a few times now and enjoyed it. I truly think they have one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in Houston which is saying a lot. Their house made hot sauce is also phenomenal. Drinks are solid. The last time I went there were a few hiccups with our experience and they acknowledged it and made it right without me even having to complain. That says a lot about how much they care and will keep me coming back. My only gripe is that I wish they had fries or another side that's around $5 and paired well with the fried chicken sandwich. read more

I didn't know what to expect coming in because I had seen the menu online and there weren't many options for brunch, but I found something I liked (hangover burrito w/o chorizo) and headed over. First thing I noticed was the *ambiance* of the place. It looked like a cute trendy coffee shop and immediately I thought this would be a great place to come during the day and work out of. We were greeted right away and our order was taken shortly after. I got the iced Americano and burrito, my husband got the iced shaken espresso and churro French toast. I was feeling a little bored and wanted to check out this cool place. I saw Instagram so stop by for a burger and a drink. Definitely love the leather peanut butter sofas for a vintage but modern look. Highly recommend checking this place out during the day and bring a good book! The burger is very big and done well for about $13 and the drink was about $11 not too bad for being so close to the museum. Nice little brunch place my gf and I checked out for her birthday! Everything was tasty, and service was great. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and it was empty. We were seated right away but it was freezing cold everywhere!!! We tried to pick a table by the window for the best lighting and warmth, but vents everywhere still made it freezing cold! We both shared the Duck Torta and the Chicken Chilaquiles. Duck torta 5/5! Duck was super tender and the flavors really was everything! Also the torta was pretty big and the server was kind enough to have it cut in half for us to share. However they used big giant cherry tomatoes in the sandwich, which popped out and rolled onto the floor... maybe use slice tomatoes next time? Lol Chicken Chilaquiles was about a 4/5! It had good flavors and I appreciate how every single chip was covered in their sauce. Very generous with the chicken and all the toppings, and loved the pickled onions! One thing to note is that this dish is to be enjoyed almost immediately bc the chips will get soggy, unfortunately. The olive oil cake was a 4/5 for me! I loved the crunchy pistachios and the blackberry sorbet was a very nice touch to balance everything out! I was just not a fan of the cream cheese frosting. We stopped in here for HRW in August and I can say I was pleased and have a desire to return to try more!! I loved the patio vibe and I'm thinking it will be awesome when it's not hot as hades in HTown. The music was fun and keep the vibe high and the waiters grooving and shaking. Since there were two of us, we opted to get different dishes even though we were drawn to the same ones. I had the COFFEE ROASTED BEET SALAD :: Lemon Goat Cheese Mousse, Texas Citrus, Candied Quinoa, and Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette to start, followed by the TROUT :: Pan seared Trout, Blistered Cherry Tomatoes, and Avgolimono for dinner, and finished with OLIVE OIL CAKE :: Cream Cheese Frosting, Candied Pistachios, Blackberry Gastrique, and Pickled Blackberry Sorbet. Over all I'd give my first and last course 3.5 stars, but damn that fish was fantastic!! I truly wish I had more!! They also have a fun cocktail list and loved that they had a paper plane on the menu since it's a favorite I even make at home! Very cool neighborhood spot with decent food, good drinks and cool music. Stopped by this place on a Wednesday night for a low key business dinner. They have a great selection of small bites along with some entrees. We shared the smoked fish pate and fried green tomatoes. Both were pretty delicious. I especially enjoyed the pate. For my entree I ordered the bangs and mash. The mashed potatoes, gravy and sausage tasted great with each other and it was the perfect comfort food dish I was looking for. For Sunday brunch we got the CHURRO FRENCH TOAST & the CHICKEN SANDWICH. The toast was tasty & generously coated in cinnamon sugar but a bit dry I would ask if they had a side of syrup. The chicken sandwich was huge, cut it in half & it was still a substantial portion to share with 2 people. It just happened to be cold that day so we ordered the IM IN LOVE WITH THE COCOA to keep us warm. A pricey hot chocolate but if you read it description it sounds divine. Everything you want for a good day, or night out. And yes friends, they have a happy hour with food AND drinks. If you can find parking in the lot, your night is won. If not, you'll have to find it on the street somewhere. Lot is tiny, and the spaces in the street can move quickly. If uber is an option, choose the one. My first arrival saw me sitting at the bar solo, waiting for the group to arrive. Maybe 4 folks in the place on a Friday afternoon around 5ish. The outside is spacious and chill. The inside is vinyl collectors dream. The staff is super cool and friendly. If you can make it out for happy hour, everything on the list is bomb, drinks and food! The only thing I didn't really try was the popcorn. The pork belly skewers, freaking fantastic. Crawfish takoyaki, delicious! Drinks, I had one of everything on the happy hour menu, And also a few rounds of Old Fashioned, and Bourbon. There wasn't a bad drink in the place. Overall, a nice chill spot for drinks, and food. We got there a bit early so could get good seating for the DJ showcasing, and good music was playing beforehand. A really dope vibe and ambiance. For food we ordered wings and the potato fingers. When I looked at the menu, it was a little "limited" as far as options were concerned. This could go both ways. I decided to order the octopus carpaccio and the chicken sandwich. I know they don't go to together, but I was curious -- and I had to try different things because of Yelp. That sounds like a good reason. Both selections were awesome! They were both loaded with flavor and were delicious. One of my friends ordered the mussels and I was able to snag one. They were great as well. So, I was happy with the food. One of my favorite spots in Houston to grab drinks and bites. It's more lounge-y when it fills up with folks (after 7/8pm). Music is loud, and it adds to the vinyl vibe Drinks are consistently good, and so is the food. The only complaint would be there are very few non-dairy options for folks who actually have the allergy. Otherwise, this is THE spot. Other up-front notes: - There's a parking lot outside, but it's small and can be a little tight, but I think street parking is pretty doable in the area. - The space is nicely decorated and has a mix of tables, bar counter, and actual couch seating - Came here for an earlier dinner around 5:30pm and the place only had plenty of seating - Staff was friendly and the service was fast. Like, almost suspiciously fast with how quick everything came out but it was all good to me. - There's a DJ. Not sure if one shows up everyday, but there was one around 6-6:30. That was cool. Ok on for food and drinks: - Highballer: Your standard toki highball. Not the best I've had, but def not the worst. - Al Chareau: Nice refreshing seltzer style drink, a little sweet, but I thought was very balanced - Fried Green Tomatoes: Nice and crispy with a good dipping sauce, but 4 slices for $8 does feel a bit expensive - Radicchio Salad: The description on the menu was actually completely wrong so we ended up getting something totally different from what we expected, but it was still good! Honestly would've been more concerned for people with an allergy risk, but they updated the menu immediately after I mentioned it. - Chicken Sandwich: Yeah, probably the best thing on the menu I tried. Huge piece of chicken that was nicely fried. The sauce on the burger was good and overall it was a very solid chicken sandwich. - Vegan Pappardelle: This one was.. interesting. The wild leek pasta definitely had a different consistency to regular pasta (go figure), but it was just kind of weird. The mushrooms though were great and I overall still think it was a decent dish. - Chicken Wings (dry bbq seasoning): The dry seasoning on the wings were good, but they just tasted more peppery? The menu described it as dry bbq and I wouldn't really say it was that. Still well cooked and juicy. Overall, it's a nice space and good place to grab a meal. Most of it is reasonably priced and there are some standout dishes. Particularly the chicken sandwich. I think they keep rotating the menu which is always fun. I'd definitely try this spot again if they refreshed the menu, but hopefully they keep the sandwich as a mainstay! read more

Best chill vibe with great food and drinks. Not overcrowded like many other places where you have to fight for a table or get in line for a drink at the bar. Music is always playing with OG hip hop which is great for any occasion. Enjoy coming here with friends to hang out for a drink or and grab bites to eat. Location previously housed Night Heron, has now been converted to a lounge/coffee-esque restaurant. Blasting tunes from the 90s, this place wasn't all just "insta-worthy" set up. The food, and drinks served here are serious, and worth the $$. Food: -The hamachi crudo with capers and oil was the perfect starter to whet the palette. Fresh fish with bursts of tanginess. - The pate with smoked trout roe, fennel marmalade with fresh buttery toast was delicious. I could just order that for myself and scrape the whole plate clean. -The roasted carrots were tender and the yoghurt sauce with dukah and dill were the perfect pairing with the steak. - The steak was SUBLIME. The chermoula with the tomato and cucumber complimented the tender pieces of steak. It's been a while since I had a steak that had me go wow. And this is not even a steak house! - The fried chicken sandwich is even better then I remember. GENEROUS portion, and flavour was on point. No complaints here. Crisp, rich, and juicy! - The Earl grey ice cream with candied pistachios was so lovely. Not overtly steeped where the taste of the tea overpowers the pistachios. A nice fragrant dessert. -The carrot cake tres leches was moist, but not soggy. The texture of the carrot cake still came through. It wasn't too sugary either. My friend ordered the churro French toast and after tasting that, I wasn't a big fan of that food item either. My waiter was super sweet and attentive though! Atmosphere here is pretty casual and a nice place to gather with friends. There's a variety of seating options indoor and outdoor for small to large groups and for individuals. Indoor seating has the variability for couch seating, large table groups or smaller pair choices. The social distancing measures were followed by the staff and folks that were here. The food plates are more about smaller choices not the large entrees so if you're really hungry may need to get two dishes. The two times I've been here he house Pinot Noir were California brands and both very tasty. The citrus cured hamachi was very good and definitely say the Steak with the fingerling potatoes were 5 stars. Not sure what or how they cooked the fingerling's but probably best i've had. To finish the meal and any meal here for that matter you have to order the carrot cake tres leches. Wow, so yummy! Overall experience was and has been great each time.
