I've been to this 99 Ranch a handful of times, and they usually have pretty good-quality produce. Grabbed some pretty fresh looking cabbages. Price-wise, it's about on par with other Asian markets in Arcadia. I always come here to restock on mixed fish balls and hot pot items. They also had the special 99 Ranch tote bags a few times that I came!

This location has been caught price gouging! Beware!

This place is now price gouging so beware! I got a thing of noodles which at the shelf said it would be $2.49. At the register it was $3.69! I told the cashier but because she barely spoke english she didnt understand and said I'd need to talk to a manager, excpe there wasn't one around! There were 2 cashiers and super long lines because they take forever to check people out! This may be my closest location but I'm never going here again.

This review is for the hot deli area of 99 Ranch in Arcadia. Not sure if it's gatekeeping but the Run Bings at 99 Ranch are a great deal for the price. All made to order and you have some customizations available. It's like a Chinese burrito but the wraps are made of several thin crepe like rice sheets - also made fresh. Lots more vegetables than meat inside and a large is big enough for 2 people to share. I'd you get here earlier in the day, they also make salty 'fan tuan' in both purple and white rices along with other Chinese breakfast items like Chinese donuts. Quality is good and a bit cheaper than the places that specialize in Chinese breakfasts.

While my BFF and I were in this area, we stopped by this branch to pick up a few stuffs. We were excited to see that they have a : made to order Chinese burrito section. My BFF ordered one with pork to take home. She said it tasted okay (she forgot to take pictures though.. LOL) They also have a behind the counter made fresh to order, bean paste filled pan cakes section! I saw and fell in love with the way their egg tarts look, so I got all 4 that were left. I think the egg tarts were made better than at other 99 ranch market's branches! The crust were flakier and crunchier, while the custard were baked and caramelized better as well! Other than that, we just picked up some Tofu and a few other basic ingredients for our cooking. Had a bit of hard times finding my dried bean curd sticks from alley to alley .. finally found them on bottom shelf! In otjer branches, this product are placed on top shelf. This branch is very busy on.a Sunday afternoon. It was clean and well stocked! Plenty of free parking spaces outside.

My daughters and I had a hotpot to go to this past Sunday. It was at one of my dear friend's house. Thank you for hosting my friend! We had to pick up some hotpot ingredients on our way there. Actually, it was about 25 mins out of our way to my friend's house LOL, but that's okay. I will drive a distance for great eats. I wanted to pick up dessert from JJ Bakery in Arcadia. It turns out there was a 99 Ranch nearby... this location is not the new one at The Shop at Santa Anita. Funny, I pass by here all the time and never once thought to pay them a visit. Hence, this was our first visit. First off, they have a deli area that sells hot foods and surprise surprise, they have custard and red bean obanyaki. My daughters went crazy for them. Buy 4 get one free! Of course we had to get some LOL. Our visit was very intentional so we went straight to the aisles that had our hotpot items such as frozen fish balls, tung ho (a true chrysanthemum I read LOL), bok choy, okra, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, egg tofu, dry egg noodles, and dry vermicelli. This 99 Ranch doesn't seem as big as the other ones that I've been to. Some walking area was a little snug. I wonder if this location used to be another supermarket that was taken over by 99 Ranch. Ambiance was okay. Anyhoo, it was a quick 30 mins visit. Got what we needed and more. Staff at cash register was pleasant. Prices are average. We will be back now that we know they are here. Happy 99 Ranch Shopping!!! P.S. I will post photos later. I have to get them from my computer since they are no longer on my phone. Thanks for your patience.

Also there have been times when I have seen produce starting to mold/ have spots. During cherry season, I was surprised to find that this market sold rainier cherries (I actually love these more than the red ones) for $1.98 per pound where as other places are selling them for anywhere from $5 to $7 per pound. It is very busy when some of their produce like that is very cheap (because you know you just aren't the only one who thinks that is a good deal). The rest of the market itself has a similar layout as what you would expect at other Asian markets. And on our past visits, the market has been clean and did not have that familiar odor that may be associated with Asian markets. They had exactly the same shape and color as the ones I usually bought from Chinese markets, but they were not cooked. Once defrosted, they practically melted into water. Vietnamese markets also sell many kinds of fish by weight. Most of them are good, but you need real experience when buying raw seafood. Otherwise, it is very easy to waste money. Thuan Phat is a typical Vietnamese market in this sense. You can get most of the ingredients a Chinese family needs. Their fried or dried pork skin is actually much better than what I have found in most Chinese grocery stores. But again, only buy what you know. You need to know the quality, and you need to know how to process it. This Thuan Phat also has several tanks and a full seafood counter for live seafood, including crabs, tilapia, and other fish. The prices are lower than at many Chinese markets, and honestly, the quality is not bad at all.

It's hard to pick a favorite when they're all this good! To balance out all the fresh seafood, we also ordered the fried onion rings and fried zucchini. Both came out perfectly golden and crispy, adding that satisfying crunch to the meal. What really stood out was that even after being fried, you could still taste the natural sweetness of the onions and zucchini. They weren't greasy at all--just light, crisp, and dangerously easy to keep snacking on.
