Golden House in Temple City serves bold, authentic Sichuan food, praised for spicy, numbing flavors like grilled fish and dry pot. They are known for authentic, spicy, numbing kick, specializing in dishes like Grilled Fish and Spicy Cold Chicken. Wash down your food with duck shit tea. Spend $40 or more and get a scratcher to win prizes.

This is a gem restaurant in the SGV. My friends and I went last week and we all LOVE it. The spicy pork intestines were so delicious. The cold chicken and the grilled fish were really good too. The place were clean and the servers came to us couple times and asked us if we need anything.

I stopped by Chuan Yu in Temple City with a couple of friends and ended up liking it way more than I expected. The grilled fish ($19.99!) was the highlight. Crispy skin, tender meat, and zero fishy smell. For the price, it's honestly impressive. We tried a few other dishes: Eggplant & green beans - simple, home-style, really flavorful Kung pao chicken - not too sweet, nice crunch on the peanuts Three-delicacy dumplings - shrimp, pork, egg & chives; the filling was packed Beef roll - lightly crispy on the outside, warm and flavorful inside Brown sugar mochi - I already said I was full, then ate two pieces anyway Also discovered they have free KTV rooms, which is wild for a place at this price point. Service was friendly, portions were fair, and overall the food felt very "solid and safe" in a good way. Not a place I'd drive across LA for, but if you're in the area and want something tasty and affordable, this spot is definitely worth a try.

Amazing Sichuan restaurant! Every dish was full of flavor and heat -- especially the spicy chicken and water-boiled fish. The balance of numbing spice and freshness was spot on. Great service and cozy atmosphere too. Definitely coming back!

This place truly exceeded my expectations. The dishes are beautifully prepared and incredibly flavorful, with that unmistakable authentic Sichuan taste -- bold, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. Portions are very generous, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. Every bite felt like a taste of home-style cooking done right. If you're craving real Sichuan flavors -- spicy, rich, and satisfying -- this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

The food was so fresh taste like local Sichuan. The flavors are absolutely incredible -- bold, spicy, and full of depth. The dishes are perfectly balanced between spicy and aromatic. I love the roasted fish so much, highly recommend!

Wow, in my search for new eats in the SGV, thank the Lord Jesus he led me here. I was just driving until I said, heck, we are eating here. Parking in the rear, scarce. Try the street. This is truly top notch Taiwanese food. Well I am not Taiwanese nor have i been there, but I'm a fatty who's had a lot of their food, from Queens, NY to San Gabriel and I get to say it was very good! They have an extensive menu. Yes, juicy pork dumplings are there but keep turning the page to the end where the lunch menu is. All divided in $5.99, $6.99, $7.99 and $8.99 lunches. -Lion Pork Meatballs ($7.99 Menu) was AMAZING. So much flavor, the dish had 2 gigantic meatballs that were moist, tasty, surrounded by clear noodles and napa cabagge. OMG. A winner! -Three Cups Chicken ($8.99) This is when God shows you he loves you via your tummy. Loads of basil, soft chicken, th esauce was to die for. A MUST GET! All dishes came with a large white rice pot. There was so much food for 2 people, we took leftovers and had a whole new meal that only got better. Inexpensive, Quality, Service was good too (the owner helped us). Too bad they have a small drink menu, and no lemon iced tea (which i love) I cannot wait to come back!!! and I'm bringing all my friends next time. PS. Speak their language or bust. Love it!

Was craving Chinese food and wanted to go somewhere I've never been, so my little brother brought me here! Loved their Shrimp Wontons and Orange Chicken! The Wontons were sooo flavorful and the Orange Chicken was lightly breaded and crunchy! Wasn't too fond with the Broccoli and Beef. Beef was a little too chewy for me... Nevertheless I'll be back to explore more of their menu! (there's parking in the back)

The dishes here are a hit or miss. Some are really good and authentic while some are bland. I always order the brown sauce tofu which sometimes comes perfectly but also has come out cold a couple times as well. I guess it depends on the chef working at the time? The positives are that the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. I can always take home leftovers.

So my dad has been saying their stir fried shanghai rice cakes are pretty decent, and we finally found a day where I'm around for lunch (he said it was more worth it to come for lunch special). We got the rice cakes, stir fried string beans, and the shanghai pork ribs. Pork ribs: I'm a sucker for all things sweet & sour so I thought the pork ribs were pretty good. There actually was a decent amount of meat on it too, vs some other places that give you mostly bones and fat. Rice cakes:I thought the rice cakes was lacking in flavor - seems like the sauce didn't really sink into the rice cakes? so overall it just tasted kind of bland, and it could also use more spinach. I think I like the rice cakes at ding tai fung better... String beans: If the rice cakes were under-sauced, this is almost over sauced. It was still good though, but at times I feel like I was eating charred sauce. At least the flavor was there? I didn't voice my opinion, but even my dad pointed out that this meal seemed lacking compared to the last few times he came. I guess I may have to give this place another try some time. Until then, 2.5 stars it is.

Good quality home styled Shanghainese food here! Really authentic dishes here and the flavor is always on point! It's great Chinese comfort food or an new experience if you're not acquainted with Shanghai Chinese food.

Cause we never been here so we decided to give it a try. From the outside it looks completely empty, we hesitated but then when we entered it looks pretty popping. The decor is pretty nice and the staffs were nice and tentative. Here are what we ordered. Bean Curd Appetizer: (4/5) YUM! Haven't had a good bean curd for a long time! Nice chewiness and very good flavor, even the mushroom and the bamboo are very flavorful. Crab meat tofu (5/5) My favorite dish of the night! Tender tofu with yummy crab meat flavor. The sauce is just delish! Don't know what exactly is in the sauce but its enough flavor if you want to eat it with rice, but it's not too overwhelming if you are eating it by itself. Snow Veggie with Tofu Skin: (2/5) Least favorite dish here. The tofu is dry and the stuffing was blend. The veggie underneath tasted better. Sour & Spicy soup: (4/5) Pretty good! There's not a lot of ingredients in the soup but the flavor was great, got a good kick but not too spicy and not too sour either. spicy lamb chop: (3/5) Very very very little meat. It's like 15% meat and 85%bone. But the flavor is pretty good. Spicy Fried Yellow fish (3/5) Same spice as the spicy lamb chop, so we thought it was redundant, (Waiter should have reminded us, since we don't know what flavor dishes are) we would have like it more simply with salt. But the fish was fresh!

After many failed attempts, we were finally able to reserve the Peking duck and I'd say it's pretty damn good. Almost on par with Da Dong or 1949 in Beijing. It was popping on a Friday evening and I can see why. The service and food are both excellent (although it also does come with a heftier price tag) We wanted to get the peking duck, but unfortunately it requires a week of advanced reservation. We ended up getting: Prime angus ribs - Excellent, super tender and flavorful meat that goes well with the (black pepper?) sauce Shredded pork with sweat bean sauce - comes served with chinese pancake (the thin stretchy crepe kind, not tortilla or bun). You eat it similar to how you'd eat a peking duck wrap, with some cucumber and spring onions but replace the duck with the shredded pork hah. Good flavor, enjoyed this dish quite a bit Stir fried pea sprouts - The dish comes stir fried with mushroom but we opted for a garlic stir fry (without mushroom) instead and it was excellent. Very garlicky and tasty. Secret Tofu - this was the most disappointing dish. It came recommended, but the tofu was more like an egg tofu and it wasnt crispy enough. Will pass. Will return again to try their peking duck next time!

They have a lot of tables inside so it is great for small and large groups. The waiters were also fast even though they were busy. We ordered their Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Tofu, Beef Noodle, Shrimp w Walnut, and Vegetable w Garlic. We decided not to get lobster since it was pricey. They took our order pretty fast and gave tea to drink. The pot of white rice is extra $1 if you order though. And their menu book doesn't have prices for some reason. Only the to-go menu has prices. Food was served in a decent amount of time, around 15 minutes. And all dishes arrived close together so we didn't have to wait long. The kung pao chicken is so good! Not spicy at all and very nice and crispy with good seasoning. It tasted delicious with some rice. The beef noodles were also delicious! It had good wok taste and was very flavorful. The tofu and shrimp were also good. None of the dishes were too salty and all were seasoned well and in pretty big portions, though I don't remember the exact price since they took the receipt away when we paid. But the meal was very worth and we had leftovers for lunch the next day. Such a yummy meal! I really enjoyed it! I am definitely coming back again!

My family and I used to religiously eat lobster noodles whenever we made a trip down to SoCal. The pick of the bunch was 100% Newport Seafood- no negotiations, no contemplations. Unfortunately, the last handful of times have left me extremely disappointed and heavily annoyed. The cost and wait times do not reflect what is actually being provided and most of our food ends up being left behind because it simply isn't worth the calories. In all honestly, I've grown a phobia w/ that specific restaurant at this point because of the countless letdowns. My initial taste of Boston Lobster was about 3 years ago and I had the most enjoyable meal. Due to our LA trip coming to an end, my BD thought we should do it big with some lobster noodles- for good old time's sake. I absolutely refused to go anywhere unless we would be giving Boston Lobster a visit! Sure enough, they did not disappoint! Dinner for 3 adults and 1 toddler consisted of: *Boston House Special Lobster [no spice] + Garlic Noodles for an additional fee. Medium Size 5-6lbs minimally. *French Style Beef Cube *Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves We ate like mf'n KINGS!! Each and every dish was spectacular- even the greens! While we should have gone with the small sized lobster, I'm proud to say we went down with an honorable fight. Lmao!! The lobster was cooked to perfection- meat was sweet, succulent, and so darn tender. The garlic noodles soaked up all of the delicious lobster flavors and were not overcooked and mush. The bo luc lac was flavorful, juicy, and complimented the bed of lettuce, onions, & tomatoes so well. The snow pea leaves weren't tough and old- this truly was a simply yet magical dish. Service was on point and the staff continually came by to swap out our plates full of lobster shells. Above all, there was no wait with our initial arrival. Parking is easy given the fact that BL has a pretty big parking lot specifically for them. 5/5 stars!! We dropped over 3 bills here and it didn't even hurt. Lmao- this place is that damn good! Don't sleep on this joint, y'all. Boston Lobster is the real deal when it comes to authentic Chinese/Vietnamese cuisine. This spot should be so much more hyped than it actually is!

Hunan Style Fried Pork-- it looks intimidating but the chilis are the fragrant kind!! Super mild baby spice, not like eating serranos. Super good flavor, wok hei is there, definitely getting again Stir Fried Pork Belly-- Similar to Hunan style but instead of chilis it's ... onion. There's so much onion. We just picked out the meat. It's like banquet style whole steam fish softness and texture and flavor.... Without the enormous price tag. Braised Pork in Brown Sauce-- Melty fatty tender goodness. The sauce is super rich and savory. Pretty much everything here is made to eat with rice so if it's too salty for you.. eat more rice. Stir fry dry bean curd with pork-- Look I know it's not the most appetizing looking or all that in terms of color palette.. BUT IT IS GOOOOD! Not all restaurants can make a good tofu dish but wow this is amazing. The flavor profile reminds me of that bean curd appetizer at din tai fung with the seaweed strips and bean sprouts. It's savory, slightly vinegary, meat is really tender and the tofu texture just goes sooo well with everything. Fried squid in three flavor sauce-- WARNING!! There's the clear squid bone (?) attached so make sure you pull it out !!! Flavor wise it's my first time having a sanbei dish that wasn't chicken. It's good though! Super tender, just make sure to pull out that clear strip and you're all set. Kung Pao Chicken-- Basic dish but NOOOT basic flavors!! Best kung pao chicken I've had in my life my god. No complaints 10/10 had a great time, love the price, and definitely will be coming back. There's a big parking lot too!

The shrimp fried rice was probably one of the best value dishes we ordered at around $13 -- lots of shrimp mixed throughout and a great filler for the table. The honey walnut shrimp was unique because it came with melon, which added a refreshing touch. The shrimp itself was super crispy and I appreciated that it wasn't drowning in sauce or overly sweet. The French style beef was another standout -- packed with fresh peppers and the meat was incredibly tender. Overall, you really can't go wrong ordering here. Great spot if you're craving Peking duck and Chinese family-style dishes.

The Peking duck was excellent. The skin was thin and crispy, the meat was juicy, and I loved that…read morethey deboned the duck. The pancakes were thin and perfectly chewy. The sweet and sour pork was unfortunately a disaster. The pork was sliced paper-thin--so thin that it felt like I was mostly eating batter with barely any meat. I was also disappointed they took the sweet and sour fish off the menu because that dish was amazing a few months ago. The five-color noodles were light, clean, and refreshing. The pork elbow was delicious with a fun, tender texture. The fish maw soup was very good and comforting, though it could have used a little more seasoning. Other than that, it was delicious. The steamed sea bass with soy sauce was incredibly soft and fragrant--a definite must-order. The scallops with vermicelli noodles were another hit: fresh, clean flavors and perfectly cooked scallops. My only suggestion would be to cut the noodles, as they came in one big clump and were difficult to serve. We ordered the beef fried rice but were given lamb instead. It was a bit gamier than expected, but still tasty. The black fungus with tofu was also excellent--well seasoned and full of flavor. Overall, there were a few misses, but the Peking duck, sea bass, scallops, pork elbow, and black fungus with tofu made the meal worth coming back for.
