This used to be my fav place 10 years ago when I was living in SM . Visiting back order the same fav food . Spicy beef ramen and pork cutlet . It's not the same taste anymore . I was so disappointed. The broth just not enough flavor and pork cutlet bland .

Gyudon $15.25, yum; restaurant rating 7.6/10

7.6/10 -- Ajisen Ramen is a cozy, casual Japanese spot serving affordable, generously portioned ramen, sides and a surprisingly large menu. The crispy fried squid and thick slices of chashu were standouts, though the broth and noodles were good but not exceptional. This was my first visit, and I finally tried it because my boyfriend loves this place, he says it was the first ramen he ever had years ago. I've always skipped it in the past, but after eating here, I was surprised by the 3.6-star Yelp rating. I think it deserves closer to a 4 for the value and comfort. We ordered Fried Squid Legs $10.45, Gyudon $15.25, Ajisen Ramen (Tonkotsu) $13.95 and Shoyu Ramen $15.25. The squid legs were my favorite, light, crispy batter with plenty of pieces, similar to other Japanese spots. The gyudon was flavorful with a decent portion, though we packed most to go. Both ramen bowls were solid: broth and noodles were good, while the toppings exceeded expectations. Each bowl came with three thick slices of chashu and half an egg, which made it a great value. Service was friendly with a few flaws. The squid arrived quickly, and the ramen came almost immediately after, making it tricky to enjoy the appetizer while the noodles stayed fresh. Afterward, we had to flag down staff for a to-go box and the check. The ambiance is casual and cozy. It's small but has enough tables, only indoor seating, and a small free parking lot. On a Tuesday at 7 PM, there was no wait, and the space felt comfortable. Overall, Ajisen Ramen offers good food at a great value, and I'd return. Portions are generous, prices reasonable, and the fried squid and chashu were highlights. The ramen itself didn't stand out compared to specialty shops, but it's a reliable option for Japanese comfort food, and I hope they consider eco-friendly practices in the future.

Super yummy ramen! We decided to try this place because it's super near where we live and we loved it. The ramen was super tasty and the service was great. The staff is super friendly and nice. I got the spicy miso ramen and it was so good. I added fried garlic and extra chili flakes as they leave those two on the table and it made it taste even better. I'll definitely be back.

    58. Volcano Ramen I didn't realize it was so spicy!! Very delicious however

I went in for the weekday lunch special, and it was so delicious!! There was only one server working, but he was very polite. The food also came out pretty quickly. The restaurant has nice decorations, and also had some music playing in the background. The music didn't cover up the sound of slurping lol, but that's how you can tell the ramen was delicious.

I haven't been here in ages! This was my childhood ramen spot. The premium pork ramen is what I always get here, and the flavor hasn't changed much. The California roll was not great. The rice + crunchy flakes had a strange texture, like it was stale. Every time I dipped the roll into the soy sauce, a giant chunk would break off. It was also freezing cold in there. Service was decent, but I'd go to other ramen spots.

After 10 years . Still my ramen place to go . Tender pork ramen is my favorite matcha ice cream and drinks is amazing . I always leave satisfied with a full belly . Prices still exceptional. Good service and quality food, food came out quickly. Definitely a plus since I always come starving. They have new matcha drinks . A must try . I had the matcha with yuzu, not too sweet - will try matcha red bean smoothie next time .

I wasn't impressed with Ajisen but came because of the IG ads. Parking was easy, and they advertised some discounted dishes, but the prices overall were still quite steep, and the discounts didn't make much of a difference. I ordered the beef udon and it was okay. The service was disappointing. The staff weren't attentive, and the tables around us weren't cleared. I even had to ask them to take away our empty bowls, even though the restaurant not being busy. I would not be coming back....

We ordered ABC Ramen, Seafood Ramen & I can't remember the other one but all of them were delicious. Family enjoyed and inhaled everything:)

    California Roll - was ok

Parking: Has its own lot and street parking, so parking is never hard. Interior: Cute interior with Japanese touches. They have a display of different Japanese ramen bowls which adds a nice touch. Service: Service is very attentive and fast. Order: Pork Cutlet Curry Rice - 3/5 pork cutlet was very very dry. Would not order again. Curry and salad was all very good. I liked that they gave a lot of the sweet red radish as well. Fried Chicken Curry RIce - 5/5 Chicken and curry was delicious! California Roll - 3/5 It used to be really good but they have changed it. I gave 3 out of 5 because there are now more pieces of sushi which is great! Use to have 6 large pieces, now an order comes with 8 regular sized pieces. The crab filling in my order unfortunately was very dry and there is very little masago on the outside now.

First time at this location and wow it did not disappoint. The food was a 10/10 and the customer service was on another level great and friendly. We'll definitely be back

Haven't do a food review for so long. After finished my lunch I just need to make a statement. Ajisen had the most yummy Ramen noodle in SGV!! They made daily noodles and delivery from their noodles factory ... I ordered the lunch special, Tender Pork Ribs Ramen with Fried Tofu. Pork ribs is very soft and tender, ramen is right (not too soft or too hard) It was so delicious., the broth is excellent, I finished the whole bowl of soup lol Fried Tofu is crispy outside and soft inside!! Yummy!!

This is one of the only remaining Ajisen locations left after the pandemic and the only one left in this area. While Ajisen is not stellar they still remain one of our favorite ramen places. The lot at this location is small and parking can be difficult during peak hours. There is limited parking on the nearby side streets. The people who work here are consistently friendly and offer adequate to very good service over the years. It can get noisy inside when they are very busy. However, we have not seen dine in seating get up pre-pandemic levels. Prices have increased but are comparable to everywhere else. Unagi Don is about $17. The menu has changed and we attached as many pics as Yelp would permit. On our visit we got the octopus balls and squid leg appetizers as well as the unagi Don and two ramens. The octopus balls were slightly better than elsewhere but not as good as we remember them from the past. Unlike other places they were slightly better because they were not complete mush, but had a firm outside with a mushy center and topping were evenly applied to each piece rather than randomly sprinkled over the whole lot--when cooked properly or at least how we like them, then should be firm but not hard throughout and not mush like most places seem to be making them now. The squid legs were good but the bodies were tough and greasy. All of the ramen had good broth and noodles as we remember. The unagi was cooked well and was not oversauced, although it had medium to heavy sauce--we like it lightly sauced. There was a Yelp check in deal to bogo drinks. We got two teas and they were fine. One tea we asked for 25% sugar and they did it right unlike some other places. Overall, Ajisen is not the best ramen house in the world, but it is still a good dining experience and should be at least a 4 star average on Yelp--3.5 is too low.

    Beef Udon
    Michael S.

Beef Udon is oily and not a lot of flavor. Premium pork ramen was good and had plenty of flavor, pork was tender. California roll was okay, not very flavorful.

The rice burger becomes a sloppy mess. The omu rice though? That is on point! Egg, fried rice, curry, that's all there is to this, but... Getting that liquidty gooey-ness, I've had a hard time finding it anywhere else, and for that reason, this place gets 5/5. I'd caution my readers to level set their expectations for everything else, and also take note of just how many people have Omurice on their tables, if you don't have at least that, you're doing it wrong. The noodles are firm with a nice bite to it. I especially like the Okinawa soba because it uses thicker noodles. The meat is tender and has a sweet flavor to it. Mixed because I like getting recommendations but I also don't want to feel pressured into getting the recommendations. The ramen was kinda sweet? I don't think I've had any ramen before where I would consider sweet one of the flavor profiles. Generally I would use brothy, rich, umami, creamy, salty, oily, or smooth to describe ramen soup, never sweet. Outside of that, it's just average ish level ramen, no complaints but nothing to go crazy about Soba had a decent broth, something familiar and in the realm of what I'd expect. Noodles were a bit rough and grainy but I think that's just the type of soba noodles. I don't know enough about soba to accurately critique it but it wasn't bad. The karaage or fried chicken and the recommended chicken skewer were alright. Price wise, things are in the average realm of what you would direct from a ramen joint. This place also closes later than a lot of other ramen places. They also offer mints when giving you the check which is a nice small touch that I don't see many restaurants going anymore. If the ramen broth as more standard, I think I would be open to being a repeating customer since most places close early but I think with the other options near me, I would not make this a top pick unless it was late

I ordered the Deluxe Mazesoba, which comes with chashu and a hard-boiled egg. I really liked the deluxe version because it felt more filling and had a good amount of protein from the minced pork, chashu, and poached egg. The bowl had a lot of flavor, and I ended up finishing the whole thing, so I didn't even get a chance to try the free scoop of rice at the end. The mazesoba was a bit on the salty side, but it wasn't something that bothered me. The seaweed and fish powder added extra depth and helped give the bowl more variety, while the green onions added a nice texture and freshness. I came on a Wednesday night and didn't have to wait at all, which was a plus. Overall, I enjoyed my first mazesoba experience here and could definitely see myself coming back whenever I'm in the area.

Menya Hanabi is a Japanese noodle shop specializing in Nagoya-style mazesoba, a type of soupless…read moreramen that focuses on mixing noodles with flavorful toppings instead of relying on a traditional broth. We walked into a casual ramen shop atmosphere, the kind of place that works well for a quick and satisfying meal rather than a long dining experience. The space is functional and focused, with a menu centered around different variations of mazesoba along with a few sides and drinks. The main reason to visit is the mazesoba, and it delivers a completely different experience from typical ramen. The noodles have a chewy texture and are meant to be mixed thoroughly with the toppings, sauce, and egg yolk to bring everything together. We tried the Nagoya-style combination of spicy minced pork, green onions, seaweed, garlic, and other toppings, and found the bowl rich and layered, with each bite getting better as everything blended together. The deluxe versions add more toppings and make the dish feel more complete, while the spice level can be adjusted depending on how much heat you prefer. The richness of the sauce and toppings is balanced by the brightness of the egg yolk and the crunch of the onions, keeping the dish from feeling one-dimensional. The restaurant also offers options like takoyaki and matcha drinks, which add variety to the meal. The matcha latte is a nice contrast to the heavier noodle dishes, while the sides work well for sharing or adding something extra to the table. Since mazesoba is naturally a heavier dish, the balance of toppings and textures helps keep the meal from feeling too rich, and the sides offer a lighter counterpoint. Service is quick and the experience moves efficiently, which fits the casual style of the restaurant. Menya Hanabi can get crowded during busy hours, and waits are possible, but the focused menu and flavorful bowls make it worth adding to a noodle rotation. It is a great spot if you want to try something different from traditional ramen, delivering a meal that feels both intentional and satisfying, with a concept that is simple but executed in a way that makes the noodles stand out.

AH-MA-ZING!! Brought one of our best friends from Hawaii to have lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. We…read moregot seated right away which was great bc we were all getting hangry. For appetizers we ordered the Takoyaki, chicken karage and our main dishes Deluxe Tsukemen x3. The Break down: Atmosphere: 4/5 They greet you as you walk in, which I sets the vibe. You're welcomed into a cozy apace that has some decorative elements even to the music choice. Reminds me of our trip to japan, which I MISS SO MUCH! The Food Takoyaki: $8.95. 4/5 Stars. - Comes in 5pcs with sauce and bonito flakes. I liked how the outside was a bit crunchy and inside was fluffy! Karage: $8.95. 5/5 Stars - Comes in 5pcs. The sauce was tangy sweet kind of like teriyaki sauce. It was crispy but still so juicy and soft. HANDS DOWN GET THIS! Loved it so much I could have a whole bowl Tsukemen: $22.45. 5/5Stars - If you aren't familiar with this, the broth is separate from the noodles. Its a different way of experiencing noodles. The broth is thick, creamy and flavor profile is on point. Inside of the broth there is mushrooms and pcs of pork. The noodles are cooked perfectly and also comes with pcs of nori, soft boiled jammy eggs and 4 pcs of thick chashu. Portion size lets just say they are generous and we all can EAT ^^, Kakigori (MATCHA) $8/$14. 5/5 Stars - Definite MUST! Its made with Japanese shaved ice, a very creamy soft cream matcha sauce and matcha powder! I cant tell you how good this dessert is. The wife is obsessed and one if the main reasons why we found this spot in the first place. Please try! Service: - Super friendly staff! They are quick to get our order and serve our meal. I asked for more limes for my noodles 2x and both times they were quick. Made us feel very welcomed and checked in on us on a regular, which also reminded us of the service Japan showed us once upon a time. Overall: We love this place and we keep coming back with new people to share this type of noodle experience. Check them out im sure you will enjoy it. Lets just say we drove an hour to eat this. You def will not be disappointed :)

I had a weekend dinner at Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle with our group of four back in March 2025. The…read moreother two ordered tsukemen ($26.50 for the spicy deluxe and $23.50 for the spicy chasu) and found it very salty because they chose to consume it not by dipping the noodles in the bowl of broth, but rather by pouring all the broth from the bowl into the noodles, trying to recreate a normal bowl of ramen. I can't speak for them, but I will say, if you order the tsukemen and find that you want more dipping broth, that will be an extra charge. Order a regular bowl of ramen if you do not plan to dip the brothless noodles into the broth for each bite. BF and I both tried the spicy tuna bowl ($7.95), chashu bowl ($8.95), and tonkotsu ramen ($15.95). The bowls are a little smaller than the ramen bowls and are a great option if you want a light meal without feeling super full. The tonkotsu ramen had a slightly rich broth that was flavorful and a decent portion of noodles. We opted not to order the ramen with the egg since we were also trying the rice bowls. The three items were more than enough for the two of us and a good variety of food. Parking here is horrible at the street level, so head downstairs for the two levels of underground parking.

I always order the Original King with extra firm noodles. I also love that they give you a customization sheet so you can personalize your ramen exactly how you like it. The pork gyoza were a bit small, but still really tasty. There's almost always a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the service is fast and efficient. The decorations and seating style inside also adds to the overall ambiance and dining experience.

The restaurant is in a large mall and while there were lots of parking stalls it was quite busy and challenging to find a spot. When we got in there was a line already and so we entered the queue. All parties need to be present before they seat you. When finally it was out turn we were seated and the inside was nicely decorated. I liked the condiments and sprouts in the middle of the table. I used the sesame grinder a lot! Most of the table ordered the Original King Reamen but I had the Red King and wanted to try the Chicken Karaage. The chicken was so good! Probably one of the best I've ever had. The ramen was super flavourful and the noodles were cooked perfectly QQ. This place was bustling but felt that the service was good. Love the decor. They even give you a branded bib in case of soup splashing. Food is a bit expensive than other Ramen places but I probably would be back.
