What an amazing place to celebrate a birthday. I took my Soror to dinner. It was 6 of us. The food was amazing the short rib was so tender, the sea bass needed a little salt but paired with the lobster risotto made every bite divine. One of the guest didn't eat seafood so ordered the chicken parmesan, and to my surprise they took a basic dish and made it magical. The ambiance was amazing perfect for an evening out. Due to COVID we, like most people I'm sure, have been avoiding eating out to try and stay safe. However, we were celebrating my partner's 40th birthday and decided we had to go in person for this. This experience was A+ from start to finish. I made the reservation online and mentioned it being a birthday celebration and the hostess and waiter made sure to acknowledge this immediately. The restaurant also had every pretty spread out, and included plastic protectors between each booth. This was our first time at the restaurant and it was during brunch so fairly busy; but not once did our waiter rush us or seem unavailable. He offered excellent suggestions starting with drinks (Pomegranate & Grapefruit Martinis) both of which were delicious. Collectively at the table we had Crab Cakes, Biscuits& Gravy, Shrimp & Grits, and Prime Rib at it was all delicious. I did send the prime rib back because it was a little undercooked for my liking but they quickly corrected this and after that we all devoured our food. Even my MIL, who can be a bit picky when it comes to food loved it and wants to come back. Kudos and Al Biernat's and our waiter Glen, or as my partner called him all day Dennis! We went to Al Biernat's for my bf's birthday last night. I was scoping out for steakhouses in Dallas because my bf loves steak and Al Biernet's kept popping up. Great service and a solid app (blackened prawns). My bf ordered the ribeye. He found the steak pretty tough although he thought the crust was good. I had gotten the Chilean bass with the risotto. It was rich and filling. Given that I took my bf out for his birthday dinner, I was disappointed that he didn't enjoy his dinner. He woke up with a sore jaw this morning lol. However, the dessert we got (fondue cake with gelato) was delicious. read more

Al Biernat's is a Dallas staple, with an entrance tucked away off the a busy street. The large parking lot is always speckled with expensive cars and provides a stately entrance to the restaurant. Some outdoor seating exists, but the inside of the restaurant is quite remarkable, from the the vibrant front bar to the elegant and lounge-like dining room. I have been to Al Biernet's twice for work events and have thoroughly enjoyed both times. Unlike many modern steakhouses that are tightening the menu's, Al Biernet's still offers a very wide selection. On my recent visit, I enjoyed the wagyu filet, Mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes, and peanut butter banana cream pie. All were awesome, but my favorite was the cheesy, gooey Mac and cheese. This review is based on my restaurant week dining experience! I came here to celebrate a birthday. They were informed about the birthday celebration, but the server failed to actually acknowledge it. The host did greet us and said happy birthday. We decided to try this place because it was restaurant week! They offer three courses for $49 and part of the cost is donated to the food bank! They have decent appetizer and dessert options, but their main courses from the restaurant week menu is limited. You have the option to upgrade to a sea bass entree or steak. We ended up getting the tuna tartare, escargot with tortellini, scallops, short rib, cheese cake and key lime pie. It's interesting that the only steak they offer on their restaurant week menu is a filet and this is a steak house! The appetizers were delicious, I recommend trying the escargot with tortellini! As for the entree, I was taken aback by the flavors of the scallop dish that I got. The wild rice tasted like it was made with coconut milk and it was really sweet. I did not exactly expect to eat a sweet rice pudding for my entree. The short rib was made perfectly, it was tender and the flavors were on point. Our server didn't really attend to us and he accidentally charged us for the desserts even though it was part of the restaurant week pricing. Overall, I was not that impressed with the service and some of their dishes on their menu. This was my first legit steak house experience, and I loved it. Food was amazing and steak was so good. It's so fancy and clean here. All the side dishes were rich in flavor and I got full so fast. Came here Friday night with my husband and a few friends. Parking is valet only (complimentary). My first impression is that this place is LOUD. It's very dim (as usual with high-end restaurants) and kind of crowded. We had a reservation and were seated about 5 minutes later. There is no formal waiting area so we felt awkward taking up room in the small lobby. We were led to a very small rounded booth and given a wine menu + dinner menus. A bread basket containing sourdough, pumpernickel, and baguette is complimentary. We ordered the crab cakes and mussels + clams to start. Then I had the porterhouse to share. Dessert was the chocolate peanut butter banana pie and bread pudding. The steaks here are top notch and well worthy of the 4-star rating and reviews - buttery, tender, well marinated and cooked, and excellent sauce pairing. I would say the sides are not as on-par. I would however recommend the crab cakes. Skip the dessert and treat yourself to Sablon nearby instead. Service was kind of sparse for the price. Maybe it was just a busy night? We had the opportunity to dine at Al Biernat's on a Friday evening. We booked a table for two, the day before, which was surprising given the popularity of the restaurant. Upon walking in, we were inundated with all of the people at the bar to get to the hostess stand and dining area. There was no wait when informing the hostess of our reservation. It took a little bit of time for our server to get to us, longer than we had liked, but we understand given how busy it was. That would be one of our only points of improvement. The venue was buzzing with tables of all ages and ranges. Dimly lit, but you are able to see your guests. The table are fairly close to each other so it is a bit hard to hear at times your table-mates. Our server was nice and asked if we liked bread, an appetizer, and a drink to start. We ordered the crab cakes (my wife's favorite of the night) which were very tasty and fried to perfection. For main dishes, my wife decided on the Wagyu Filet Mignon. Wow, it's as good as you imagine, tender and savory. However, I believe the Buffalo on the Air, Land, and Sea dish I chose, had more flavor. Very disappointed with their consideration in communication response. Myself and five other friends meet quarterly for a nice meal and camaraderie in and around Dallas. Tonight wouldn't be our first time here and may or may not be our last. My friends and I go back many many years and value the time that we get to spend together and tonight unfortunately I was unable to attend. That in mind I wanted to celebrate with my good friends and send them a very nice bottle of wine to the table as a gesture. I called Al Biernat's three times today and each time I did not get an answer, but rather a voicemail prompting you to leave a message. On the third try, I left a message hours before the dinnerreservation requesting a call back and stating that I wish to be able to send a good bottle of wine to my friends. It's not the first time I've done such a thing not for this occasion, but have done it for other occasions, most recently three weeks ago at another amazing steakhouse in Dallas that I won't mention, for the risk of my intention of this review may be misconstrued. After my attempts and a voicemail left hours before the reservation for my group, I never received a call back and my fourth phone call again, went unanswered and went to voicemail. Obviously management has some issues there and communication is not a top priority. I hope my friends had an amazing meal and I regret not being able to send the gift I intended to. The five of us rotate each quarter who chooses the restaurant where we will meet and catch up. I will happily attend should one of my comrades choose this establishment again, but I for one will certainly not choose this for our quarterly get together or for any other occasion. This place was PACKED on a Saturday night and it's completely unassuming from the outside. We had a reservation but had to wait a bit to get seated. It's very loud inside and tables are pretty close together so don't expect an intimate dinner here. I got the house dirty martini with blue cheese salt, I believe. For the sides-creamed corn, roasted brussel sprouts, and garlic smashed red potatoes. Creamed corn was fine. Brussel sprouts were undercooked. Smashed potatoes were atually red potatoes and they were over salted. The star of the show? The complimentary pureed yams. I don't usually like yams/sweet potatoes but this was heavenly and our server was nice enough to bring us an extra serving. Once a year, we take ourselves to 5-star restaurant. So, while staying in Dallas, I reviewed this restaurant looking for the best steak house. And Al Bierant's was the best. We order the New York Strip steak 14 oz to share,. It was cooked to perfection. It had a rich flavor with an excellent crust to enhance the flavor. For our side, we ordered the mushroom risotto. The rich buttery and cream flavor with the fresh mushrooms was cooked to perfection. It was an excellent choice for our steak. For dessert, we order the peanut butter, banana, chocolate dessert. The was an excellent dessert to end our dinner. Vince our server was outstanding. He made sure that our needs were taken care. I've been here so many times and I go back and forth on how many stars to give. I've finally landed on 3.5 but am rounding down. Food- 4/5 you can't ever go wrong with the food here! The steaks are always cooked to your desire and I've never had a bad piece of red meat. It's always well seasoned, tender, juicy, and delicious. The sides always pair well- I always go for the potatoes au gratin, cream corn, and creamed spinach. Favorite app is the calamari. One of the nicer steakhouses in town but also not the best I've ever had. Service- 3/5 service can really be hit or miss here. All in all it's pretty average but they do get busy and it can take forever to flag someone down to refill your water or to grab the check. They are much more attentive when you have a a larger group are are ordering bottles of wine. Atmosphere- It's always crowded and lively. I'm not a fan of the darker light inside since food pictures never turn out great but they also have a nice outdoor patio. It's definitely on the louder side so not the place for a quiet romantic meal if that's what you're going for. Value- typical steakhouse prices with a good selection. I'd pick this place over Nick and Sam's as it's not as pompous feeling but still fits that mold. At the end of the day, I'd expect more consistent service to up the value proposition.
