We found many restaurants closed on a wintry January Sunday night in Hyannis, but Alberto's was a terrific choice. Excellent food, good service, nice ambiance, nice fire adding to the relaxed, comfy feeling. Their short ribs are to die for, and also their cioppino was delicious. Hands down best cannelloni I have ever had. Filling is beef, pork and pine nuts. The pine nuts made the dish. Pasta was fresh and amount of cheese on top was just right. Fresh steamed broccoli on the side was delicious. We also had the papperdelle pasta dish. Perfectly made homemade noodles. Worth adding a meatball, they are delicious. I heard some great things about this place but it didn't live up to the hype. The food was mediocre at best. It was ok but nothing worth writing home about. The service was mediocre as well. Our party of 2 was made to feel like second class citizens compared to larger groups. The waiter even commented that if we didn't get our order in soon we'd be forced to wait behind the larger parties so we should make a decision quickly. Not much to say about this place really. It was fine, not impressed. The food was very disappointing for the price. The garlic bread I could have made at home. A piece of italian bread, some jarred minced garlic that was very bitter and almost spicy and some cheese melted on top. I had a fish sandwich and my company had the chicken parm sub. We could have paid half the price in boston for the same quality. Agreed, we didn't really eat an authentic italian dish but what we ordered was pretty straight forward so I'd be scared to pay the prices they were asking for their dinner entree's. The service was just plain awful! We got there at lunch and there appeared to only be two waiters on staff. Other tables appeared annoyed - grumpy looks on people's faces and people turning around in their seats, seemingly looking for their wait staff. At first, when service was slow, we chalked it up to the customer to staff ratio. Maybe someone called out sick? However, several tables cleared out prior to us getting our meal. By the time we were done with our meal, it appeared our waiter only had 3 tables. We waited for 10-15 min for the waiter to check in after our meal. When he didn't come over himself, we called him over and asked for containers to go. You would think that would be a hint that we were done with our meal right? No, he handed us our to-go containers to transfer our own food and walked away. We assumed he was coming back with our check to only look up as see him making tables and laughing with another waitstaff. Another 5 minutes later he came over and took our plates and asked if we wanted desert. We said no thank you and just asked for the check. 5 minutes later our check. By then, we had waited 30 min between the end of our meal and the check so we got up ourselves and handed him our bill. Probably wont go back unless I decide to give their dinner meals one last shot. read more

The extensive menu, multiple entrances and white tablecloths should be a warning that the restaurant can't balance between priorities: food quality and service. We checked it out since it was "the" Italian restaurant in town but were disappointed by the lackluster pastas. read more

I have to say, I didn't love Alberto's. The ambiance was okay, the service was good, but the food... not so much. We ordered the homemade meatballs to start. I was really excited to try them since my main dish did not have red sauce, but they were just boring. They had good size, but could've used more time marinating and/or come with more sauce. I have no problem paying for quality, but at over $10, I felt pretty let down. I got the Sinatra, which had chicken, sausage, broccoli rabe, and canelli beans with penne in a garlic, white wine sauce. They nailed the flavor of the sauce and the penne and sausage was yummy, but not so much for the chicken and the broccoli rabe. All and all, another overpriced let down. On the plus side of things, the Malbec on the menu was delicious. If you wind up here, I'd probably stick with the basics ie pasta with just sauce. Maybe a salad. read more

Slow. Slow. Slow. Food was ok but kids were not happy. We sat for at least 45 minutes without anybody even coming by to refill drinks. The eggplant parm was nothing special, and the temperature fluctuated with the geography of the plate, apparently because it sat under the warmer for so long. I went here with my boyfriend and parents to try out a new restaurant. We made reservations thinking that it would be packed on a Saturday night at 6:00pm; but when we got there, the hostess gave a little laugh when we gave her our name and then led us to the half-empty dinner room. On the menu there is a "early-bird" section for those eating dinner from 4 to 6pm any night, so that might've been a better deal. I really wasn't that impressed with the food, though, particularly given the "fancy" feel to restaurant. I had a scallop and homemade pasta special. The sauce that it came in was sweet and odd - not horrible but not very good either. The scallops were large, and I thought the number of scallops was good; however, they weren't seared very well and didn't have the best texture - kind of a shame for such nice scallops. The homemade pasta was good and the colorful pasta made the dish look attractive; however, the pasta was long and very wide so it made eating them a tad difficult. My boyfriend got some kind of beef ravioli which he said was decent, but the portion was pretty small compared to everyone else's dish. We didn't get appetizers, but did get some sangria which was actually pretty good, but came in such a small glass. The only reason I would come back is for my grandmother who is hard of hearing - the restaurant was pretty quiet. Overall, I didn't think it was worth the money. Go to Columbo's instead. read more

All I wanted for dinner last night was a yummy plate of pasta and that's what I got. We were on yelp after leaving whale watching and wanted Italian food. We saw all the great reviews posted here and decided to try it out! I'm so happy we did. The restaurant was so clean, so beautiful and a really big space! Our weightier was lovely, very nice guy. We ordered the eggplant appetizer and shared clam chowder soup. I had Tortellini Alfredo and my boyfriend had Lobster Ravioli. Everything was soooo yummy and defiantly satisfied my Italian food craving after being on a boat for 4 1/2 hours in the sun! Next time we got to the cape we look forward to visiting Alberto's again! read more

My go-to spot for upscale Italian-American in the Mid-Cape. Have been going for many years and some time ago it could be hit or miss, but I haven't had a bad meal here for five or more years. It's not cheap, but the quality of the food, ambiance, and service is top notch. A favorite dish is the Veal Capris, a huge tender fried cultlet topped with loads of fresh lobster meat, aspargus and a pink peppercorn sauce. Out of this world. It's also a great place to dine al fresco in the warmer months and enjoy the Hyannis street scene with your food. It's hard to do better in the Mid-Cape. read more

Classic Italian, as good as any midrange Italian I've had on LI. They did an excellent job of accommodating our party of 10 (four young kids). I had the pork osso buco which was perfectly cooked. The meat was falling off the bone. My wife had salmon picata which she loved. The bill was a bit pricier than other Cape places but worth the great meal. The food was overall very good. My Veal Piccatta had a large portion of veal. I prefer a thicker sauce with more lemon flavor but their's was still very good. The lobster, shrimp and scallops Alfredo was very tasty. The pasta was el dente. The sea food was fresh and the Alfredo sauce was mild but distinct. The Salmon Porto Fino was also excellent. We ordered 2 appetizers, meatballs, which appeared to have been frozen and bruschetta which was doused in balsamic vinaigrette.for the meal I ordered shrimp scampi which was nothing like I have ever eaten. Albertos had been a favorite for years. Started going when Felice opened his restaurant across the street. Thought it was five stars consistently for years, decades really. However the last two meals within the last two weeks have made me sad. Everything from veal to shrimp to gonococci to chicken to the osco busco were average. I base the one star rating on the food. My friend and I both ordered a panini. Neither one remotely resembled a panini. They were simply sandwiches on rather thick bread. It was evident that they were not pressed but looked like the bread was put in the oven/under the broiler to melt the small amount of cheese. The ratio of bread to filling was not good: too much bread and skimpy, fairly tasteless fillings. Once again, had a great experience at this restaurant. I have came here for the past three Valentine's Days. They decorate every table with a rose, I love this little touch. The staff is all so welcoming and respectful. I like how they treat you special, it will make your day! I have tried many things on their menu and let me tell you, I have loved everything so far! It had been 27 years since we've eaten here and we used to eat here every time we went to Hyannis and it did not disappoint. The food is still excellent! We both had the meat sauce and it was very tasty. We came in on a Monday evening and the place was packed. Apparently a few bus loads of tourists had come a bit earlier unexpected. We were a party of 6 celebrating a birthday and she wanted Italian cuisine. 4 adults and 1 child & 1 teen. It was busy, the service was sub- par. The martini wasn't cold , when asked if it could be chilled properly, the waitress said that they were out of ice???? That was weird because the 3 cokes on the table were completely filled with ice. Plus if your out of ice go out and buy some after all it is a restaurant, you should have ice!!! Then the meal came my granddaughter's children's chicken Parm for $9.95 was the exact same size as our $21.95 chicken Parm ???? How does that work? It's sad because it has so much potential . I give 1.5 stars for the food and 2 stars for the service, but since Yelp won't do 1/2 stars, I'll settle for 3. The food was really nothing to write home about. We started with a few oyster on the half shell (nice size and very cold) and a few shrimp cocktail (large, fresh shrimp, but could have been cold) and we split the Caesar salad. For entrees I had the Seafood Alberto which was linguini (I exchanged it for the homemade pasta) with a light tomato sauce with calamari and various shellfish. It was okay. The fish was plentiful and fresh, but it just lacked flavor; though they did go easy on the garlic for me which I requested. Hubby got the tortellini in a garlic alfredo sauce with chicken. He said it was good, though the chicken was a bit dry. Portions were more than generous, so be warned. Dessert was honestly my favorite part. We split the cheesecake Alberto which is a cheesecake with a milk chocolate ganache like topping and throughout the cheesecake, chunks of white chocolate, all in an Oreo cookie crust. YUM! Our waitress was great, friendly, accommodating, even finding a candle to put in the dessert since they didn't have the proper items to write Happy Birthday on the plate. Probably won't be back as there are plenty of other options to choose from and the food was not memorable, well, except for the cheesecake! read more

Very disappointing. I've been here several times over the years and have noticed a steady decline since my first, excellent experience. I ordered Clam Chowder that turned out to be overpoweringly salty - I sent it back. My wife and I shared the Amalfi salad. This has shrunk in size. My salmon with crusted pignoli tasted sweet. The fish was a very good quality but the chef obviously didn't know how to cook it. The risotto it came on top of was awful.
