I am devastated by the food and service I experienced tonight. I have been going to Alberto's since I was a little girl and it has turned into a chain restaurant with overpriced frozen food. We waited an hour for drinks and our waitress was no where to be found during our meal. My fish was still swimming and inedible. The garlic bread was far from garlic or bread. It was like microwaved cardboard with liquid cheese on top. Disgraceful. I will never return to Alberto's again. read more

In town for one night and after reviewing the blogs and doing a little visual inspections we landed here. Big menu with lots to choose from. Classic Italian and decent seafood selection. Had the gnocchi appertizer which was served with a red save with pancetta. The gnocchi were good, not great. There were many that were chewey and drive me to the conclusion that they were not made in house. The sauce on the other hand was great. For mains the wife had the chipino which was perfect. A huge portion of lobster , fish and shellfish in a nice spicy sauce ( we had to request spicy). The only thing missing was a nice piece of crusty bread. I had a dish with shrimp and scrod in egg batter and lemon sauce. While the seafood was fresh and prepared well the dish was lacking in flavors. Nice wine list attentive and friendly service. I would go back and my wife would recommend the chipino, but I would try a simple fish dish or better yet the pasta. read more

Food is good - not the best I've ever had, but definitely good. Service was a little weird. The waiter was much more friendly and attentive to the people next to us, who apparently looked, I don't know, "classier"? I felt like he took one look at me, and the three young people I was treating (including my son and daughter), and thought I wouldn't know how to tip. I tried to engage him in a little friendly conversation - the kind he had with the adjacent table - but he ignored that. Oh, well. Lucky for him, I wait on tables, too, so I left him a very good tip, anyway. Hope he rethinks his sizing-up policy. But that wasn't the problem. The problem was my "$115" gift certificate. When the bill came, I discovered it was only a $15 gift certificate. Since the only number written anywhere was CLEARLY $115, I invited/ordered accordingly. I was shocked to find out I was $100 deeper in the hole than I expected. They met me halfway on the disputed $100, but still. I almost re-gifted this for Christmas. I also considered using it to treat everyone at one of my jobs to lunch! So here's another TIP, Alberto's: write your numbers down in words. You really should have been responsible for the entire $100 in dispute. It was NOT my fault. I'm just glad I didn't make this someone else's problem by giving them such a nice "gift." I'm disappointed that I didn't insist on the entire $115, and almost disappointed that I left over 20% as a tip. ALMOST. But that waiter needs to learn not to judge people by how they look. read more

While the food was superb, our chilly reception left us a feeling a little out of place. Most of the guests were dressed at least business casual, while we were in casual jeans and shorts attire as we had been to the beach. The maitre'd looked as though he would turn us away, but found a table and was kind and professional. Our waiter treated us with the utmost professionalism while turning his nose up, and not very friendly. Back to the meal, its was wonderful, We ordered Seafood Manicotti, Scallops and Shrimp Orvietta, and Scallops and Shrimp Fiorentina. Each cooked to perfection. The Shrimp and Scallops Fiorentina were huge and delicious, cooked in a lemon butter sauce. It is a meal I will remember for a long time. The other meals were just as wonderful. From the looks of what others were ordering I don't think there was anything that looked or tasted as well cooked. We tried a couple of desserts that were met with same quality. Horrible experience. The rude service compliments the mediocre food. Stay away. Most memorable is the middle aged male host who makes it a habit of berating and mocking the clientele in plain view of patrons and passers by. Was expecting great food that equaled the Ambiance. Highlight: Gnocchi Lowlight: Caesar salad. Went on a Friday night night and it was jam packed so I was glad I had a reservation. Ambiance was great for a nice date night dinner. Caesar salad I got was insanely overdressed and WARM. Like really warm. After my second bite which was a mouthful of nothing but gooey warm Caesar dressing. I moved the plate to the side and told them I didn't want it. Then I tasted my husband's Gnocchi and it knocked my socks off!! I wish everything in that restaurant was as amazing as that Gnocchi!! For entree my husband got chicken parmesan which was decent. We came here for an early dinner and the place was pretty empty at first. Overall, the atmosphere of the restaurant was OK but it could probably be updated a little bit. The service was excellent but the food overall did not blow me away. We opted for the $30 prix fixe; for appetizer, I tried the meatballs and the clam chowder. The meatballs were good but the consistency was almost too smooth; I prefer my meatballs to be a little chunkier. The clam chowder was creamy but it would have been nice to have bigger clam bits and potatoes. For the main course, I had the duck, which had a very strong plum sauce and I would have liked the duck to be crispier. I am pretty picky about my risotto and this was disappointing. It didn't really taste like risotto - just some yellow dry rice that should have been creamier. By dessert, I was very full but had the fruit cup with ice cream and raspberry sauce and that was fine. I probably won't return, as I was on vacation and there seemed to be other possibilities along that same strip of restaurants. read more

Recall, if you will, some of your most memorable dining experiences. What common feature distinguishes them? Was it superior fare? Of course. Tantalizing atmosphere? Surely. But if one is honest, and why not, wasn't stellar service an important feature as well? At Alberto's, one may anticipate all three. As they say, "in spades." Recently after a very cordial greeting from Luis, a sumptuous offering of warm crusty bread served with both butter wedges and olive oil materialized. Then, my wife and I selected clam chowder and the Tuscan Salad respectively. And gosh, the chowder gave off an almost rustic warmth - and its creaminess was paired well with a raw sea wind. As a certain thirst was becoming apparent, too, we wife opted for a lush Pear Martini and I, a tasteful Chianti redolent of tart cherries. As the Tuscan Salad arrived - delivered with exemplary charm by our server who smiled when I noted he resembled Andrea Boccelli at forty, it was self-evident: This was becoming a most superlative (and leisurely) dining experience! After an ample hiatus, time to soak up the mellow Brazilian soundtrack and the libations, our heaping entrees came: my wife's Prix Fixed, a thick egg-battered Scrod filet surrounded by a light generous mushroom sauce with a heap of angel hair pasta (my wife's dish) while I feast on the home-made Parpadelle with tomatoes and added chicken. The Chocolate Trio dessert smothered in whipped cream was also world-class. So if you're seeking generous affordable fine dining served with a dollop of warm attentiveness, try Alberto's. We were a party of four for my husband's birthday. We honestly didn't have high expectations but we were pleasantly surprised. First off, our server was perfection. He was attentive without hovering. The food was wonderful from the bread to dessert. My children had the chicken parm and my son is extremely picky and he said it was the best he's ever had. My husband and I split an artichoke appetizer and I'd definitely recommend that. I had the Sinatra pasta. Very good. Chicken was tender and I really enjoyed the flavors. Settled on here for lunch after my parents had a pleasant meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the ragu with the homemade pappardelle. It was beautifully made with tender ground meat and rightly spiced with a hint of nutmeg. My mother had the pomorodoro with a meatball, sausage and a nice piece of tender pork. I was part of a big group that went, probably about 20 of us. We were in a special room near the front of the restaurant and it was decorated wonderfully. The food that came out was quite nice. The house salad was delicious, I would definitely recommend the pasta sinatra, although the broccoli rabe was a bit chewy and the tartuffo was a very refreshing dessert. The wait staff, however, is not the happiest bunch. We aren't a super rowdy bunch and they looked absolutely miserable. Makes you wonder how they treat their staff. read more

Great little place. I went here for lunch one day with my grandmother and her rich friends (I probably sound like a loser, but trust me my grandmother and her friends are probably the most kickass old people on earth..just totally out there and innapropreiate and WOW haha). Was really looking forward to a wonderful quiet meal. Our server and her colleagues worked very hard. Food and wine was delicious. The worst part? The rude and demeaning woman seated near us. Her order was extremely detail oriented. And when her 2nd glass of wine arrived she could be heard saying "take it back I wanted it with the meal". I'm not sure how or why the management team of the restaurant allows this behavior toward their staff. You can't be that desperate for business. One of my favorite restaurants on Cape Cod. Excellent and authentic Italian food. Really like the veal, osso buco, and pasta. Although I didn't have it myself, I saw the lobster served beautifully. It was nicely taken apart to make it easy to eat. And one of the few places that still has baked stuffed lobster. We sat in the bar area where there was a talented pianist playing show tunes and standards on an electric piano. There is outside seating, a room for large groups and a dining room with tablecloths as well. They prefer reservations. You can dress up to go here but casual clothes were the norm in the bar. read more

I would say average at best. There was nothing overly impressive and nothing noticeably bad about this restaurant, including the food. The staff was uniformly pleasant but generally indifferent to the customers' experience. Waitstaff is attentive and quick to take an order which is nice but there is an obvious restaurant wide lack of knowledge about the traditional Italian dining options offered. The lack of knowledge about dining options seems to be shared by the kitchen as the veal was over cooked and tough. The asparagus tasted and looked like it was boiled which is disappointing and definitely not authentic as the restaurant claims. Overall, absolutely overpriced considering both quality of the product ( food and bogus wine menu) as well as the increase for the cape cod location. It is an average "Italian" joint charging north end prices for knock off meals. read more

Alberto's had top of the line food and excellent service. I had the Veal Parmesan with Angel Hair Pasta and was very much satisfied. My fiance had Salmon, Risotto, and Broccoli, which was also excellent. Ambience was wonderful. But my main reason for writing this review is to show Alberto's my appreciation because my fiance had left her iPhone on the table which they retrieved and mailed out to her address. It was our last dinner during our recent trip to Cape Cod - and it was fantastic dinner. They didn't have a table inside when we got there even though I called for reservation in advance. But they found us a table outside by the street, which I think was even better. We ordered some appetizers and mostly seafood. Everything was great. The house beer was good too, not as dark as the Cape Cod Red. We had a nice and chatty waiter from Bulgaria. The food was not very fast, but still bearable. read more

The other evening, my husband and I dined at the restaurant. It was not our first and will not be our last! The dinners were outstanding as well as the service. I had the eggplant/veal parm with linguine. The veal was cooked to perfection. The amount of sauce was just right and not over powering. Hubby had veal parm and it was also prepared perfectly. Service was wonderful, even providing my elderly mom with a taste of the mashed potato to see if there was too much garlic. We'll definitely be back. It's not on the online menu, but I had the LOBSTER RAVIOLI in a special creamy sauce, it was so good!!! Igor had the SEAFOOD ALBERTO, that was good as well, but that cream from my ravioli was what I remember the most. For dessert, the CHOCOLATE TRIO. It was the best chocolate cake I ever had. I would definitely go here again if we are in the area. My husband ordered the chicken tortellini alfredo and it was unbelievable. The alfredo sauce was THE best I have ever had. It was creamy, buttery and cheesey but not too heavy (how do they do it?). The tortellini is made in house and combined with the sauce, it just melted in your mouth. I had the parpadelle with red sauce and it was very good (my 2 year old liked it too). The wait staff was friendly enough but you won't get a "warm" vibe like an old school Italian family restaurant. I suggest sitting outside on the patio because the inside is a bit stuffy. read more
