My husband and I came here for breakfast on a Friday morning. Parking lot was full so I thought it was going to be a long wait but the parking situation is misleading. There was plenty of seating available but it is a small spot. Nevertheless, they make their space work! They have a nice bar area, and a separate dinning area . May not be able to physically accommodate larger parties though. Food was delicious and service was great. I noticed they have a mouth watering cocktail menu, which I did not have a chance to try. My husband and I have made this place a weekly or bi-weekly spot for breakfast while our kids are at school. Brunch Date vibes! We always come for the exact same meal and it's so satisfying every single time. We order Chilaquiles Rojos with Chorizo, no onion, over medium egg and O'Brien potatoes. We also request a side of their hot sauce. A must order item is a corner cake, trust me when I say you will not be disappointed. They do have a bar but my husband and I don't drink so I can't comment on their alcohol drinks but they do look good! Also today I was greeted by name which was very nice! If you haven't tried this place yet you are seriously missing out! This is my favorite breakfast spots in the Ventura area and I've tried almost all of them! They make a majority of their food from scratch. Even their jelly is made in house, along with their biscuits and even the burger buns! A restaurant that cares this much about the details is a place that takes food and the dining experience seriously. And they do just that! The campfire dish is so good. I also love their ribeye dish with a side of eggs and toast. The atmosphere is fantastic, the deco has a modern touch of an old school diner feel. Oh and they have delicious drinks as well. The bartenders are wonderful as are the servers! I always feel so pampered when we come here. Everyone is so attentive and friendly. The manager knew us by name by only the second time we had came here, that's how much this place cares about their customers. Found this place in 2003 loved the original owner Art was great but love, love, the new owners Jorge and Raul! Love the menu changes and local, fresh fruit and produce. My hubby and I go at least once a week and love the servers PAULA, Courtney, Stephanie and Maureen. Also love my hard working Tomas!!! Food is great and inside remodel is great!! Can't go wrong with Art's for breakfast. I appreciate the service, the variety on the menu, and the family-friendly atmosphere. It can get super busy so waiting is to be expected and is just part of the process. But, the food is always tasty and the servers go out of their way to make sure you have what you need. I ordered the one Famous Cake ($9). I added two eggs and sausage ($4). Seems like a fair price. The pancake was perfect, but in goes a bit downhill from there. I was given the option of bacon, home made sausage patty or sausage link. I opted for the patty. It was burnt. I ordered eggs over easy, but when eggs arrived, only one was over easy, the other wasn't. Coffee ($4) was a little pricey, especially since I was never offered a refill. I ordered a milk, but it never arrived. Overall, I will go back and give it another shot. The pancakes alone demand it. Hopefully with a different result. read more

Overall great experience and good so far. Been there twice recently since it's been renovated or whatever. First trip we came for the Pan dulce French toast and the flavor was bomb! It can get soggy quick and once soggy it's kinda gross, so next time I'd maybe ask for it on the side or easy sauce and a little extra on the side. We Tried the cinnamon roll too, I gotta say not my favorite. There was way too much icing, just drenched in it. And it was more chewy than fluffy. Had to use a knife to cut and even then it was tough to do. We also had the Mexican Benedict and sope.. spicy hollandaise sauce was bomb! My sope was tasty too, we did scramble egg but I feel like a juicy egg is better, adds a sauce texture and more flavor. But still yum. The second trip we tried the German cakes, pretty bomb with the lemon touch. Tried the cinnamon roll again and same experience. Drenched in icing and tough/chewy. Probably won't order that again. Not sure if they're made to order or reheated. So that may affect how it gets chewy or hard. This go around I tried the chicharron breakfast and loved it. Not spicy but good flavor. Mexican food like that plate isn't my MIL's type of food, but even she liked it! The guava mimosa was delicious too! We had to try it. Paula was our server that second trip and she was great! Super nice and attentive. I like that she printed and showed us our check to review. The first time it was not. And When processing our payment, she gave us space to complete our checkout. I hate when you pay and the server just stands there watching over, it Makes me uncomfortable. I feel like servers should give privacy to complete. Side note, I also don't like that tips % starts at 18%.. I'm a server and of course I work for 18+% but it's earned and even then not always given.. so the assumption or notion that tips should just start at 18% seems not right for the customer. I know it gives you the option to write in your own, but when you're offering convenience of the math done for you, I just think it should be fair to start at 15%. Just my opinion. As for the place, it's cute. Clean, trendy style. Cute little bar and bar top. I want to try the michies next time. I saw a table grab a second round so that's good start. I was seated and attended to immediately, but I know on the weekends it's very busy here and there may be a wait. I love that they have a craft cocktail menu! Wow that's the way I want to start this review wow excellent service they had wait probably about 20 to 25 minutes but had a bar counter seating which was perfect for me. So I grabbed it! Cute little vibe got a nice full bar and probably seating for 60 people I would guess maybe a little more! Well worth the wait! I asked the server I really want a lot of meat this morning I want ham steak or pork chops or I noticed that you have a chili verde omelette. She recommended the chili verde omelette homemade! That's what I opted for with O'Brien potatoes well done with a good amount of onion and bell peppers. I asked for them well done and they were well done and I mean exactly as I ordered them. Homemade biscuits and gravy which were amazing. I didn't think I'd eat it all but I ate it all except for a few bites of the biscuit LOL. Frankly the way today is with all the prices being so high for everything I was pleasantly surprised that it was $17 and it was really honestly enough food for two people if you're trying to watch your calories or you trying to save a buck strongly suggest getting one of their three egg whopping omelets and splitting the darn thing! It would have been plenty of food for the for two people but I'm a glutton so I ate it all! Great vibe great service highly recommend this place. If you go home hungry it's your fault you probably ordered toast and water. read more

First time trying this spot! Great portions and yummy food. The service was so so in the beginning and then we had another gal take care of us and she was so incredibly kind! Heard amazing things about the cinnamon rolls and unfortunately they weren't our favorite but everything else was delicious. Will be back in the future to try more off of the menu! This place is growing on me. They now have their outdoor seating available. Cool place and everyone is super nice. Service is always good. Proportions are very good. I've had breakfast and lunch and enjoyed them both equally. Price point for breakfast is a little high but so is everyone else in town except maybe Pete's!
