I went to this restaurant for the last time yesterday! For the past year, I have noticed the food and service has declined quite a bit. The wait staff are very rude and "require" us to pay at the table. If their tip is not what they expect, they will, very loudly, ask you for more money. (I always tip at least 15%). Additionally, the bathroom is never clean. Urine is always on the floor and our feet stick to the floor when walking. Nasty! My father owned a restaurant for many years and told me that if the bathroom is clean, then the kitchen is clean. If the bathroom is dirty, then kitchen is dirty! I'm sure the kitchen is YUK! We thought we would try it again yesterday, arrived, and asked for a booth. The man at the front walked us to a "table" and told us that no booths were available. That was fine, but when we asked to sit at a diffferent table, he rolled his eyes and sarcastically said, what's the difference, it's still a table! That was it for us! We will not be back! Anyone who does not enjoy buffets and understand the meaning of "all you can eat", please do not review these establishments. Chinese buffet is not for everyone. With that being said, this place is an outstanding option for chinese buffet. Food is fresh cuz it's busy and is always being replaced. This place is fantastic. Clean, SO much selection, great service and great food. I am so picky about Chinese food and I'm usually disappointed with most buffets but this is a game changer. The crab rangoons have that yummy sweet cream cheese flavor I can't seem to find anywhere. Pan steamed/fried dumplings are good. The egg rolls have that nice crispy, crunchy texture I love. They're beef which I don't tend to like as much but they're still really good. The egg drop soup is yummy and the crunchies that go in it are absolutely awesome. There's a Mongolian style grill, a TON of sushi options with seaweed salad, fruit bar with cantaloupe, Honey dew, peaches, grapes and more as well as a huge dessert bar with a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN. One of my favorite things too is their individual cups of hot mustard. It will take your breath away. The only downside to this place is that they're using Pepsi. I just moved here and wanted to come here for my birthday lunch. I was impressed with the huge selection. It all looked fabulous; however it did not taste fabulous. I tried one bite of almost everything just so I could be fair. I adore chicken and broccoli and was excited to see it looked fresh and hot. But the chicken was in huge chewy bites and the broccoli as well. I tried the fried chicken and it had so much pepper on it that it was like licking the pepper shaker. So the new Asian buffet opened in McKinney. Personally I don't care for buffets too much much but one of my family members did and it was his birthday. As far as the atmosphere, we got there before the rush and lines started which was a plus. Servers were nice and friendly. For the food- there is pretty much everything and anything you can think of. Chinese, chicken, salad, sushi, Mongolian stir fry, chicken, beef and an ice cream/dessert bar. Don't get me wrong its good and fresh but its just a buffet. It's easy to navigate the buffet and endless options and there is nothing wrong with hit but it just didn't wow me. If you like buffets I would recommend this place. I hadn't been to Asian Buffet's predecessor, Panda's Super Buffet, in many years. We've been going to Grand (or King) Buffet, so that's my only recent standard to compare this place to. We went to dinner at 4:30pm....it was busy, but not crazy and there was no wait. The inside of the place look clean and amazing, but heck....it's brand new. The variety of selections is a bit greater than King Buffet, the food quality is the same or maybe a tad better because with the amount of customers they are refilling the steam tables more frequently. One plus....their crab rangoons are light and crispy, because they make theirs with wonton wrappers instead of egg roll wrappers like at King Buffet. Much better. The service was a little lax...I understand they are short staffed, but in fairness it wasn't that busy. We struggled a bit trying to get someone to refill our drinks. Other than that, an overall pleasant experience. If they keep their quality up, we've likely found our new favorite Chinese Buffet. read more

We went to the newly re-opened Asian Buffet on 75 last night and I figured I would jot down some thoughts. I'll be honest, I was less than impressed, even for an Asian buffet type restaurant. My family all thought it was great, so I'm an outlier, but I have this silly expectation of being able to get Asian food when I go to a buffet that supposedly specializes in that very thing. But let's take things in order, shall we? First, the rebuild is gorgeous. The decor, the light fixtures, the flooring, everything is absolutely lovely. I don't know who their interior designer is, but they did an amazing job of it. The only thing I might have changed, were I in the position to do so, would have been the lack of sound absorbing materials in the construction. It was VERY loud in there, almost loud enough that it was nearly impossible to hold a decent conversation. Voices echoed around off the multiple hard surfaces creating a never-ending babble. Overall, though, as I said it is quite beautiful. But really, when does one go to a restaurant JUST to look at the pretty decor? It's the food that matters, right? Sad to say, there's a lot that needs to be done to bring the food up to the level of the decor. First of all, there were six sets of steam-tray tables, and only one of them had any form of Asian entrees on it. The rest had things like pizza, french fries, pot roast, baked salmon, and so on. The one steam-tray table that had Asian foods had three of the spaces taken up with rice and lo mein, so there were only about four or five different Asian-style entrees to choose from. The appetizer tray table did have crab rangoon and potstickers, but the majority of it was taken up with things like pizza and french fries. There was some seafood as well, assorted types of shrimp dishes, and some crawfish, but we avoided the crawfish since it is currently out of season and we don't tend to trust out of season crawfish. The rest of the steam-tray tables were taken up with salad and salad fixings, fruit trays, desserts, and so on. Now, to the food itself. (I know, it's about time, right?) As expected, I only managed to try so many things because really...who can eat EVERYTHING at a buffet? What I did try was all right. The crab rangoon were actually one of the best things I had. They were done up in a little pouch shape which gives you a ton of yummy crunchy wrapper. The filling had bits of crab (or krab) mixed into the cream cheese, and for once wasn't sweet. So many places make their crab rangoon sweet, which is fine, but it's nice to get something savory for a change. I also got the dumplings / potstickers from the appetizer table, along with the fried plantains, the egg rolls, and the sweet and sour chicken. The dumplings had a decent flavor, with some spices mixed in with the beef filling. The exterior was nicely chewy with a hint of crunch from the side that had been 'pot stuck'. The plantains were totally yummy, but they're always a favorite of mine no matter where I get them. Sadly, both the sweet and sour chicken and the egg rolls were 'meh' at best. Not much flavor to either of them, though the textures were right. For main courses I tried the veggie lo mein, the stir-fried green beans, chicken and broccoli, a stuffed mushroom, and teriyaki chicken. The green beans were excellent. They weren't floppy or overcooked, but instead were a nice, bright green and still crunchy. The spicing on them was a bit bland, but the beans themselves were excellent. The rest was all pretty blah. I couldn't honestly taste a difference between the chicken with broccoli and the supposedly teriyaki chicken. It all needed salt and other spices. Even soy sauce didn't help, really. It was pretty disappointing. They had a decent selection of desserts, including mini cream puffs, various cookies, fruit, and a chocolate fountain with the usual suspects for putting on a stick and drowning in chocolate. There was also ice cream, though it was the cheap kind of soft serve that always ends up having a ton of ice crystals in it rather than being creamy. I had one of the coconut macaroons bathed in chocolate from the fountain, a mini cream puff, some chocolate pudding, and some bananas with sweet and sour sauce over them. They were all decent, but nothing to write home about. One thing that they DID have that I haven't seen other places was longan (aka Dragon's Eye fruit). It's a funny thing, because it looks a lot like the outer layer of a pearl onion, and has a bit of that texture, but the flavor is very grape-like. It was very tasty, and I could happily have eaten a whole bowl of it, but I was quite full. I even had my Husbeast finish my chocolate pudding (tasted like the type out of the big restaurant supply cans of pudding). The service was excellent. We went on opening night so it was really packed. We waited for 35 min to be seated - not bad. It was clean (opening night). But ...the food was just meh. I was expecting Alaskan crab legs 'nope' and peel and eat shrimp. The crabs they had were very small regular crabs (no meat and over cooked). The shrimp were small and peeled. This place might be worth it if you go for the early bird special time period and aren't interested in seafood. They really need to hire more staff too - it was reported on a local FB site that they could not help a disabled man because they didn't have enough staff. That's horrible!! This Buffet is very similar to King Buffet in Plano. For a buffet, the food is very good, as well as the sushi. I really appreciate the variety of food they have to offer, it helps when you have no idea what you want. Usually good, have been a few times and tonight it wasn't as good as the past 2 or 3 times. They have a big Mongolian grill, sushi and a lot of seafood, which isn't a plus for me since I hate seafood. But when it comes to actual Chinese food the selection seems very limited compared to other buffets. I like Orange chicken, General Tso's Chicken and Sesame chicken and normally a buffet has all that. Good buffet place if you have a family that can't decide what they want to eat. I personally don't care too much for sushi or Mongolian-style bowls so I never get it when I go to a buffet but this time I tried the sushi and it was actually decent; the rolls are better than the nigiri-style sushi as the rice-to-fish ratio is unbalanced. The buffet line is clean and I like that it's sectioned off by types of foods. I appreciate that even though a buffet can't exactly afford snow crab on the menu, that they had blue crab cooked salt-and-pepper style. I got lots of that and the shrimp as it's one of my favorites. The chicken was a bit on the dry side but that's to be expected since it's a buffet and it's difficult to keep that moist unless it's dripping in sauce. The fruit bar and chocolate fountain are both fun but nothing to write home about. Though I will say this the first buffet in Texas that I've been to that has dragon eye. Overall, it's better than most chinese buffets I've been to but probably not the best. Would definitely go back again since I feel like I got my money's worth and it's convenient. read more

Went with high hopes when the average review rating was higher (currently 3 stars). However, I was pretty disappointed overall. The food was fine. Although most of the stir fries had good flavor, most of the meats were a bit dry. The sushi and and soups were both bland but not offensive. I showed up at 3:35p and was charged the dinner rate. There is no leeway whatsoever with their lunch vs dinner hours. That's fine, except none of the dinner-only foods were really worth the extra cost. There was baked salmon and a beef roast... very odd for a Chinese buffet, and didn't look that appealing at all. Service was great and the price is pretty cheap. The biggest dealbreaker was all the flies buzzing around the food. It's summer and flies will get in every time people open the door, but it's a huge turn off when you're at a buffet. read more

Panda's food was always consistent with freshness and taste, but the building was outdated and in need of refurbishing. The renovation took a long time, so when I saw it was finally open and always packed...I couldn't wait to try it. We finally found a time where they were not too busy and gave it a try. First off, the renovations look great and it was clean. The food was fresh and had all the standard foods for a chinese buffet. Nothing that I had was stellar. When craving a chinese buffet in McKinney, it will most likely satisfy you. But if you miss the old Panda's buffet and are ever in Sherman, TX, you should visit their Sherman restaraunt to get the same quality food they had before this Chinese buffet replace them. read more

Buffet during Covid? Yep. There are gloves and sanitizer available to use--highly recommended. This place has a good selection of the usual Chinese buffet dishes. The kitchen was constantly putting out fresh and hot trays so nothing was old or cold. The Mongolian grill is nice so you can customize a plate. The sushi is about what you would expect at a Chinese buffet but there were a few rolls that were really tasty and there were a lot to choose from. The sushi servings were generous with the fish. The crab served are fried blue crab. Tough to eat but taste good. The best food I found was the traditional chicken wing...great flavor and cooked nicely.
