The radio on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee went out. I looked around to find a fix or replacement. Audio Express gave me the death certificate on that original equipment radio within a very short time, and arranged a JVC replacement immediately. I spent almost as much time driving to them from Marana and back than it took them to do the work. I was given a quick but complete tutorial and a week later it is doing the job. My seven year old grandson has heard his music by radio and CD again and that makes me very happy. Mike, Miguel and their crew did a very good job and if something in their business area comes up with me again, they will for sure see me again. Never again. No kidding about taking a long time for install. I went in for a stereo and a backup camera. They told me 2 hours and I made time for 4. Took 7 and that's because I rushed them at the end. manager does not take criticism very well. After they had me buy all the wires they claimed were necessary to connect to my steering wheel, they were not able to. I had to come back a second day and even then, they were only able to connect the volume control to my steering wheel. The kit was sticking out and my car was not put together properly. Even my trunk was not opening from the inside any more. Second day, they fixed a couple of the issues but no compensation what so ever. I drive off thinking everything is better and the first time I go to adjust my AC, the button gets stuck on the kit they installed and so did the rest of my buttons touching the kit. I ended up taking it apart myself and reinstalling it. Everything on my steering wheel works now and buttons don't get stuck anymore. read more

Let me first off say that if I could leave a 0 star rating I would. Randall was the most helpful associate in the store (he did an excellent job). BUT, the fact that when you walk in it looks like the place was literally robbed before I went in left me in disbelief. Counters were tipped over with dust and dirt on the surfaces which left me to believe they had been like that for quite some time. I went in at approximately 10:30 a.m. and after about 20 mins was finally greeted by an associate (Randall). I let him know that I needed a simple install of a head unit that I had previously purchased from a separate distributor. He quickly and efficiently got me rang up and placed me in a queing system for my install since they do not do appointments. It is simply first come first serve, which is insane for jobs that I was told on average take about an hour and a half. Randall informed me that he would call and he estimated that I should be in the garage and started with the install around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. So I left and came back to my apartment. At 2:30, after not receiving a phone call by this time I thought I would head that way because certainly they would be close to getting my stuff installed. I was fooled. I showed up at 2:45 and was told I still had 2 vehicles ahead of me because of their bogus queing system which I later found out was edited by the manager based on HIS preference. So I waited, and waited and waited. At 4:30, Randall finally took my keys because he was as annoyed as I was that this was taking so long. He took my vehicle back and I was under the impression that my install was about to begin. About the same time my vehicle was taken back, in walked the carpet and tile company beginning their renovation of the facility by ripping up carpet and sanding down all of the glue underneath with their huge industrial sander. All of this happening DURING company hours WITH customers still inside. Nonetheless, my install is happening......FOOLED AGAIN. At approximately 5:30, I spot a manager and proceed to ask if my vehicle has even had its install started. He said he didnt know and that he would find out. He promptly walks out and back in and says that 1 word I did not want to hear, "no". I immediately say I need my refund and my keys so I could leave. He gets me taken care of and hands me my keys and escorts me to the garage to get my car. Unexpectedly, my vehicle WAS NOT EVEN IN THE GARAGE. It was sitting outside of the garage while there were cars with no technicians working on them. This place is poorly ran. Bought a Kenwood stereo for my Jaguar and it periodically cutoff and came back on. Took it back twice and they told me it was just dirt inside the faceplate. Third time I returned it for the same problem was told it was out of warranty and would cost me $40 just to look at it. read more

I wanted to install a Bluetooth stereo system in my 2007 Nissan 350 Z and called Miguel at audio express. I went in to look at systems and picked one for them to install Miguel told me on Thursday to show up at 9 AM on Saturday and they would get me in first thing. I got there on Saturday and it was backed up but I waited for six hours for them to finish my installation. I went out this morning for a trip to run errands and noticed my AC unit was not turning on. I called audio express to see if they can look at the issue and maybe the wire or Something wasn't hooked up correctly when I got there they pretty much ignored me I waited another hour and a half for them to get my car in the shop 15 minutes later the technician came out and said they couldn't find anything wrong. The technician gave the keys to Miguel and he came over to me and said there was nothing wrong with the system. I wasn't happy because the system was working when I went in there and now he's telling me that there's nothing that he did. This place has horrible customer service they don't feel that your time is worth anything and that I am infringing on their time I felt like there is no customer service in this store. Save your money and time and go somewhere else if you want to be treated like a good customer. read more

Buying a car stereo from this establishment is a TERRIBLE idea! I was drawn in by their radio ads and infamous "1$ install" slogan, so I gave them a try. I showed up at 9am just like they said, and it still took 4 HOURS to install the stereo! (for the non-car audio familar, it takes about 5-10 minutes to do a full install of the type I needed done). After their install, the right speakers in my car stopped working entirely. They also nickel-and-dimed me to add and extra $65 to the $115 stereo for "shop suppies and mount" (though no supplies other than a screwdriver are necessary, so I have no clue what they charged me for). When I came in to speak to a manager, I was told to return the next day to speak to him. I returned, and he was again MIA. This happened 3 more times before I decided to count my losses and never return to Audio Express again. Be warned: this is a TERRIBLE establishment. read more

I had my sub wired a few weeks back in my new car. I had a bad feeling in the first place about everything. Took it to the dealer to get it looked at, and they were concerned with the wiring of everything and said it wasn't normal, and that was probably why the entire control module of the convertible top shorted out. Not worth the extra $100 I saved from not going to The Specialists or another place. I called to ask them if they could give me more info on how it was wired, with no answers given. Super rude response, with a no fcks given attitude. They don't give 2 shts about ruing your car, they just want to make some money off of you. It's really pathetic when the supposed manager talks to you like he just rolled out of the ghetto and calling you ma'am every other word. DO NOT fall for their BS at this store. I was getting a new stereo put in and I already had a sub base in my truck. I told them this and asked if it would be a problem to make sure the base works with the new stereo and I picked a stereo that i would be able to control the base from the stereo directly. When I picked up the car the base didn't work and while I was trying to figure out the solution to this the employee started yelling at me. I asked for the manager and he came out while I was frustrated I stayed put together and next thing I know he is yelling at me. They said that I was a lied and the base never worked (which is why I offered for them to listen to the base BEFORE they put the new stereo in) and I asked to speak to the installer and the manager refused. I had to go else where to get the problem fixed (which took all of five minutes and was a lose wire). The manager used foul language and when I asked for him to remove the new stereo he also refused. I didn't want their product at that point and he didn't care. They have no understanding of customer service and while they maybe cheap to install they don't do it properly. read more

This place stole 139 dls from me, I was there for an alarm installed which didn't happened after 2 days of dropping my car at their shop they never touch it. I ask them to refund my money they refused to it and started to ignore my calls. Next thing they blocked me from their Facebook page so I couldn't comment what a bunch of theft they are.. Was searching the internet trying to find a decent car audio store. Looked at some reviews for others and was drawn to this one due to the discount coupon on an item. Was contacted by Robert, one of the managers and met with him at the store. He was very helpful and aided me in picking the items for my car. We went out to my car to show him what I was looking for and he listened to my current system and recommended that I just needed a couple of things vs. All of these other things which saved me more money in the long run. Installation took about 5-6 hours but overall a clean install and his recommendation was spot on. Only thing that they had a problem with was they didn't have the steering wheel adapter to integrate with the new receiver. Robert told me they would order it and have it installed free of charge. I took a look here on yelp the night before the install and noticed the marks and reviews. I honestly believe that what was said and done in the past was fixed and remedied. I'd give no stars if i could. Went in on a Wednesday to pick out audio and scheduled it to be installed in my daughters car on Friday as a surprise birthday present. After much run around by an incompetent sales staff verifying they had all parts in stock, they said they did. Asked me pay $10 deposit to hold all parts for Friday which I handed over my debit card but was charged for the whole amount, over $700. I got the "oops sorry, meant to put in $10 but accidentally keyed in the whole amount, is that ok?" line which I stupidly said "sure, I'll be paying the full amount in two days anyway." Came in on Friday morning as scheduled and was told they didn't have all the parts. The sales associate that helped with my assistance on Wednesday and knew the details of our sales deal from Wednesday did not help the other sales associate I was dealing with, even after I asked him to. Stand in manager talked to the associate I was dealing with but would not talk to me, retrieving to the back to hide during my time there, not a simple apology from anyone! Sometimes that's all it takes. I asked for a refund on my debit card and promptly drove down the street to The Specialists car audio and received fantastic customer service, a better price for the same equipment and even though it was a squeeze, realized the gross incompetence of Audio Express and the pending disappointment of my daughter not getting her birthday surprise and they got her car in right then. They saved the day! I will be a future The Specialists car audio customer! As for Audio Express? NEVER AGAIN! read more

I purchased a $650 stereo system from audio express for my RV. The sales rep informed me that I could come back to have it removed and installed into a different vehicle if I ended up selling the RV. Sure enough 6 months later I did put the RV up for sale. I called to make an appointment for the swap. I needed it done on Friday. "Sorry, we don't take appointments - it's first come first served, but it will only take about 45 minutes so just be here when we open." "Ask for Peter", the guy tells me. I get there about 8:50am, 10 minutes before they opened. Door was open so I went in and asked for Peter. Turns out he's taking the morning off. I tell the sales rep who is there the story all over again. Bottom line is take the nice stereo and speakers from the RV and put it into my car. Take the crappy stereo and speakers from my car and install it into the RV. I provided 2 vehicles, I've left 2 sets of keys. The guy said he understood. I went to breakfast... waited for the call. Supposed to take 45 minutes. 3hrs later, I'm getting worried, I call to check. Peter is at lunch but he'll call as soon as he gets back. At 1:30 he calls to tell me it's done. I rush over, payed my bill. Peter had me follow him to the back so I could help him move my cars to the front. As soon as I got to my car, I could see the stereo had not been touched. I looked into the RV and saw that stereo had not been touched. They swapped the speakers but not the stereos. I bring this to his attention and he apologizes profusely and tells me to give him 15 minutes, he'll take care of it. I go in to the waiting area. An hour later I get up to see what is taking so long and I can't get anyone's attention so I go out back to their shop area and check for myself... not a darn thing has been touched! I go back into the show room ( at this point I'm steamed) and tell Peter to forget it, just give me my money back. Well they wont give me my money back because they did get the speakers swapped so I can only get half of the $170 bill refunded. (I could have done the speakers myself) So fine, let me get my partial refund and I'll get out of here. Well, after several minutes, turns out Peter doesn't know how to do refunds so he heads to the office to find someone who can. Another guy comes out of the office, starts my way then gets distracted by someone shopping for a stereo. So there I wait.. and wait. I was there at 8:50 that morning because it's first come first served. it is now 3:20pm and I'm going to be late for my 3:30 appointment to show my rv to a potential buyer. Finally I call across to the guy who evidently is the only one who knows how to do refunds... He answers back and says "sorry maam, you need to wait your turn just like everyone else". Is it possible to give negative stars? If so this would be the first that I would give. This place is HORRIBLE! Please save yourself from frustration, headache, repeatedly returning to get things fixed, expensive replacements, and just incompetent persons. We have been back more than 10 times, the first time I went back was because we had a dvd player installed but as I drove home and the kids wanted to watch it, I tried so hard to figure out how to get the sound on...the instructions they gave didn't work. I called them and asked and they said, "oh, did you want sound with your dvd player? that will take an additional install and cost an additional $100." What the...?? why would I install a dvd player and not hook up sound? Then it kept not working, we returned again, and again, and again, and again...always it was something else. They had no idea. They replaced the dvd player, it cost an extra hundred dollars to get a new warrantee. Then after several months without problems it stopped working....AGAIN, no surprise. They want us to pay an extra $200 to replace the monitor which we know works because my husband hooked it up to a different dvd player and it worked fine. They are idiots. I went down to audio express on broadway wanting to get a new radio in my 2001 Altima. The salesman (Daniel) was very informative and answered all my questions. The specialist in Tucson quoted me $650+ for a kenwood touch screen installed in my car. Daniel got me the exact same kenwood touch screen installed in my car for less than 450.00. Well I don't even know where to begin. For one thing audio express is very overpriced compared to even bestbuy. I went there in hopes of getting a pioneer touchscreen radio put in my jeep and the salesperson who was also the manager told me this specific touchscreen would work perfectly with my android phone. Well that was a lie. Before I knew that though I purchased the product with installation for 1090.00. He told me that installation would take an hour and a half at the most. 3 hours later it was done. Partially at least. They told me they couldn't get the phone to work so to come back tomorrow to see if they could fix it. Well I came back and he told me that I needed an adapter and that they didn't carry it so to go to radio shack or bestbuy to get one. Well I did and it cost another 40 dollars. I come back once more and they try to fix it again. Turns out they just hooked it up incorrectly the first time and they actually didn't need the adapter that I just spent 40 dollars on after-all. They finished putting it in and my phone did hook up to it but it did not at all function like they advertised but I was so tired with dealing with them and wasting gas that I just wanted to get home. I go home and turn off my car and the tilt function doesn't work on the stereo. Instead it just bumps against the bottom part of where the dash is. I am now back here standing in there store waiting 30 min. Even though he just said this would take 2 minutes. I asked what the refund policy is. There isn't one! After all this I didn't get a credit or anything. Oh! And yesterday I asked about a military discount and he said he included it. I looked on the receipt and It wasn't at all on there. He just straight up lied to me. While being in here so much I have noticed that everyone seems to have problems. I've seen at least 4 customers come in and complain about the horrible service this place provided. I will definitely be informing everyone I know to definitely not go here. Oh and this is my first review ever. I usually just let it go but I felt that I needed to do this for future customers. Just go somewhere else. There is a reason this place has horrible reviews. I wish I had looked first. ALSO on another note my girlfriend and I went to the movies after the installation and she almost sat on a razor blade that they left on my seat. Wish I would of read these reviews before I went there. Got a new stereo and back up camera installed they had my car all day Saturday when we picked it up my phone would not ring through the stereo then my phone froze up got a new phone went the next day and my phone and husbands phone still would not work. The employee hooked his phone up to the Bluetooth and his worked he told us to come back on Tuesday when the technician was back. As we were playing around we notice there was not music playing on the back speakers, Went on Tuesday and the technician would not even come out to my car to look at my car so now they want us to come back another day and they need the car the whole day to look at it and they have to call Kenwood to see why phone wont ring. Know I have to take it back a third time who knows what will be wrong after this. I will never go back and hopefully other will read these before they go unlike me. We bought a new radio for my mom's car, and they told us it would be a three-hour wait for installation. The guy told us we could bring it back Friday at 9am. He never mentioned that it was first come first served. I walked in the door at 9:02 and was told that I had missed the rush and it would be 2 to 3 hours before they could get to it because there were other people in front of me. I found that hard to believe, since I was the only one in the place. I explained that it was a half hour drive home, but the guy behind the counter said he could put me in the rotation and call me when they were ready. I explained again that I would be a half hour away, and he said he'd give me plenty of time. I drove back home, and about 5 minutes after walking in the door, he called to say they were ready. Gritting my teeth in aggravation, I drove back, and when I got there, a different guy said they would get to it "soon" and that it would take about 45 minutes to an hour. He sent me to the waiting lounge, a totally filthy room -- stained chairs, garbage on the floor and sitting on the tables, holes in the walls. And this was at 10 in the morning, so obviously they don't ever clean the place. I figured I could tough it out for an hour, as icky as it was. After an hour and a half, I went to the counter to see how it was coming. It turned out it was more complicated than they thought (this was a simple radio installation, not a whole sound system), but he said they would be done "soon." I went back into the "lounge" and waited another hour. I went back out, and he told me it was much more difficult but that he had his best installer on it and he'd be done in 15-20 minutes. He also told me they had to use a bunch more parts that he thought, but he wasn't going to charge me for them. Considering that they had now wasted 4 hours of my time, I wasn't too impressed with his generosity. Another half hour went by, and he came in and said the installation didn't work, so they were going to have to redo things and that it would take another couple of hours. At that point I had to call my mom for a ride because I had a business appointment. So we had to waste another hour driving back and forth. They finally called and said they were done, only 6 and a half hours after I first walked in the door. I understand that things don't always go according to plan, but there's no excuse for not communicating when they first discovered they were having a problem And just plain lying about how many people were in front of me makes me wonder what else they lied about. Finally, if you're going to give your customers a place to wait, it should be clean and presentable, not a disgusting pig sty. I have no confidence that they did a good job, and I'll be surprised if the new radio functions much past the warranty period. I would never go back there, and I would urge anybody who's looking for a car sound system to avoid this place. read more

i recently sent an email asking about upcoming sales, and needing to be pointed in the right direction. i sent the email on two sifferent days, and both time it said someone would get in touch with me shortly. that was several days ago and ive heard nothing from anyone at audio express. i am a disabled veteran, and my particular problems make overwhelmingly difficult to go out to public places to deal in person the way id prefer and can no longer do. obviously my email was looked at and deleted. as ive told audio express, i truly enjoy being marginalized and blown off. i had been warned by others that audio express is the last place i should go to, and i refused to believe this. i was proven wrong. as a member of a local chapter of a national veterans organization, i will be informing them of my humiliating experience and other organizations from there. i am quite saddened that such a long standing business entity in tucson is exactly what i had been warned it would be. read more

The worst!!! They're cons & liars!! Thugs!! Their customer service when they screw up is non existent. Quick version: Took my custom Suburban in to have a new stereo installed...no problem...my wife liked it so much she wanted the same put into her 2003 Z4. I told them to install the stereo, but DO NOT cut the OEM harness. I said if the adapter harness wouldn't work to put the OEM radio back in. No problem they said, but we've done this hundreds of times in BMW's. Several hours after the time they said it would be ready, they told me the adapter harness didn't work, so they reinstalled the OEM radio. Fine, we tried, no harm no foul, just lost time sitting in their boring waiting room. My wife went to the back to get the car and found the entire center console and controls not working. They forgot to reconnect the harness. The next day the OEM radio would only play for about 15 mins and then shut off. I turned it back on and the same thing....15 or so mins. I called the salesman and was told to bring it in. They worked on it but it did the same thing. I went back in and the salesman said that they would have me take it to BMW for the repair and he would call me with the time. I never got a call, so I went back in and was told the salesman didn't work there anymore. I talked with the manager and he played stupid about the situation. I pressed him about it then he turned into an instant asshole and told me I brought it in that way and I was a liar. The crew basically ganged up on me and separated me from the manager and pushed me out the door. I called Corporate several times and not once did they respond. I found they had in fact butchered the OEM harness and this caused an issue with the rest of the stereo and alarm system. They also scratched the brushed aluminum panel around the stereo. Stay away, 40 years in business......this is not the same business I patronized back in the 80's & 90's. STAY AWAY!!!! read more
