First time tried Auntie kitchen. There were four of us. We ordered 1/2 BBQ duck, beef chow fun, minced beef & egg porridge and Singapore fried rice noodles. The BBQ duck was excellent and the rest were a little below average. Bill total was $58 not including tips. Which is reasonable, service was good, very attentive, filled our water all the time without asking. Ambience is cleaned but kind of small, tables are too closed together. Overall, still comfortable, maybe because we were there right when they opened. We will definitely go back for BBQ duck, soy sauce chicken and hainan chicken. A small place, not crazy crowded. A seating customer told me this place is,cheap and good. After not getting any attention for 10 minutes I asked for seating. The manager showed me the adjacent room where tables are all covered with table cloth. But the 2 seater was next to the restroom and dirty linen so my friend asked to be in the main room. We ordered beef chow fun and pork belly at $18/lb. It took 15 or 20 min before the chow fun came. The color is less brown but the taste was right and the beef tasted tender despite the fact it looked dry. The prok belly looked more like roasted pork to me. When questioned the manager said it was a cut near the butt and will charge us $15 instead of $18. But I told me if they ran out we could eat something else instead of just giving us an inferior substitute. The table also seemed to have overcharged issues and left early. My friend complained of the noise level: yelling of employees. When I got the check we were charged $18 per lb but the manager reverted it to $15 per lb. My feel of this place is they have lower prices than their peers but they also offer lower values maybe to a point of deceiving you if you are not aware, especially with seniors. Went to get some Chinese BBQ Togo. Initially I wanted to get sausage. Half a chicken and half a duck. No sausage. They have half a white cut chicken but it doesn't look that good so I thought ok I'll just get a duck. The BBQ person said the crispy pork belly is good. I had it last time when it's first open and it was ok. I decided to give it a try. I asked him how much per lb and I said I am planning to get a lb. The pig is divide into 2 hanging upside down. half of it is almost to the butt. the other half is almost untouched. The guy said the part close to the butt is like $12-14 a lb (I forgot exactly how much) and the one that is mostly intact is like $18. I picked the fully intend one because the skin close to the butt is not crispy and the meat is tougher. I cut a few medium pigs before so I know. I also make my own crispy pork belly so I know the stuff closer to the neck and the pork belly is good stuff. The guy put his knife on the pig and ask how about I cut this much. I asked him how much that weight and he said he doesn't know. So I have been buying BBQ for at least 30 years. When I tell the BBQ guy I want X lb of meat they know how much is x lb. Sure if I say 1 lb they usually give me like 1.2, 1.3. I don't expect them to give me exactly one lb. Never has once someone told me he doesn't know. So as I am thinking... I was going to say forget it I won't get it. He went ahead and cut it and then weight it. 1.61 lb. I am like ok it's fine. Totally it's like 53 bucks (half a duck is like 18 bucks). So he cut them and I just attend to my two toddlers. Went back to the car and opened the crispy pork belly because my kids want the skin. Not much skin... ok I guess that's fine. I took a bite... it's sort of crispy but it's cold... a little weird it's under the lamp. So daughter and son ate maybe two skins each. I ate one or two pieces of meat. went home. I then maybe eat one or two more pieces at home and I am like... this pork is really looking strange. I weight it. 16 oz. 1.61lb is 25.76 oz. I took a piece of meat out and that's like 2 oz. ok we ate a few oz but 10 oz?? not too sure. Did they switch out my cut of meat? I don't know. The duck is fine. I thought for a long time if I should write this review. After all I ate a few pieces and I didn't take pictures. We had the pork for dinner (along with other dishes) with 3 adults and we have left over... so 3 people couldn't finish maybe 12-14 oz (cause I ate a bit more) but I myself ate 10oz? Did they charge me 1 lb instead? well the pork is like 29 bucks. (18 bucks half a duck + 29 bucks pork + tax) = $53. No the math didn't add up. Maybe it's all in my head... maybe not. You know how sometime when you order a lobster it's missing a tail or missing a claw because they cook a few together and give them to different tables. This whole roasted pork thing feel off like I am missing some lobster pieces. I will not go back there anymore. Pay attention to your roasted pork when you order... just to be safe. read more

We ordered 3 dishes. The prices were reasonable but the flavors were mediocre. I've had better egg tofu with mushroom elsewhere. The lamb stew with bean curd skin was standard. The server ripped us off on the roasted pork. We wanted a pound of the roasted pork belly but they gave way extra so we got 1.52 pounds. The price is $18.50/lb. Fine, but they gave us the generic roasted pork at $12.99/pound. My parents were upset, made a comment to the server how untrustworthy this dish and restaurant were. We expected pork belly but got other parts of the pig. The server kept apologizing that he was wrong and it wasn't the restaurant's fault. On the way out, the server commented and apologized on the pork again so my parents again communicated that it wasn't what we ordered... anyway, the restaurant refunded us the difference of the price per pound. read more

I've come here for meals several times, the menu is extensive, the surat are nice, and the food is high quality, tasty Cantonese food. I've come here either with friends or by myself for breakfast, lunch or dinner meals, they offer a regular breakfast menu where you can choose two items for a set price, they also have dinner menu items that you can eat a full course meal together with your friends, they have a dim sum menu that offers the type of dim sum you would expect at a higher end dim sum menu like Chef Tony's, where they do add truffle to their dim sum. I've always been pleased with my food choices here, the food is delicious and fresh. I recommend this restaurant for quick meals when you are alone or if you want a family meal with friends and family. The food is authentic and tasty. Anyway I thought it might be a occasional case, we went there two days after, same in the lunch time, we ordered Hainan chicken 秘制海南鸡 . and beef with rice noodle 干炒牛河. which is the most popular Cantonese dish. OMG, the chicken was in white color, and warm, with blood within the meat and bone, I guessed it was boiled in the water only, the beef noodle was dry and the beef was tough. ... No soybeans sauce, no cooking oil. This was the bad experience we ever have in San Gabriel area. I have been trying to keep silent, and say nothing about, but I can't hold it. Decided to give this restaurant a try since we've had their other locations and it also replaced one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants. If you're reading this Vietnam house, I miss your baked catfish. It was the best in the town! Anyways, back to my original story, I had ordered 3 dishes with my wife. Half a hainan chicken, beef cubes, and Chinese cabbage with garlic. I believe the veggie dish was $12.99. We received the 2 protein dishes first and out came another veggie dish which wasn't what we had ordered. Some youger girl waitress had originally brought it to another table and that party said they didn't order it and then she came to my table and i also said we didn't order it. She checked the receipt on the table and it showed that we had ordered Chinese cabbage instead of pea sprouts. So she took it back into the kitchen and an older gentleman brought it back out and informed us that the kitchen made a mistake and if we would like to keep it. If not, they would remake the correct dish for us. My wife and I didn't want to inconvenience them and said we'll take it. They apologized and we said it was fine. We just weren't feeling peas sprouts at the moment, but whatevers, we'll eat it. Everything was fine and dandy until the bill came out and realized they charged us for the peas sprouts which was $18.99. That was pretty annoying. Had I known, I would've asked them to make the dish we ordered. We thought we were doing a good deed, but instead, we got penalized for covering for their mistake. Yeah, that left a bad taste in our mouths. Don't get me wrong, the food was great and the service was excellent, but that incident was pretty annoying. Would I go back?
