I thought this was some of the better noodle dishes I've had in Austin. They have a decent selection and a system that seems to work well. U order when u enter and receive a number that is put on the table for correct delivery. They give you substantial amounts of OK food at reasonable prices. The operation is viable and you can see what's happening in the kitchen which is reassuring. If your hungry and like noodles this is a worthwhile stop. I stopped today and tried the lunch menu and was disappointed. Chicken and broccoli: 4 pieces of broccoli and a few pieces of chicken. Food cost substantially less than a dollar and seven bucks on the menu. Very impressive ROI for the owner but nothing to eat for the diner. For what it is (a fast food Chinese/Thai place), Bamboo Bistro is delicious! They have lots of options and you can get anything with your choice of protein. So far we've had the pad Thai, jalapeño chicken, crispy chefs shrimp, Mongolian chicken, Kung Pao chicken, habanero wings and the Thai basil wings. Every single dish has been delicious. I ordered through GrubHub and everything was great. The delivery minimum was a bit high so I ended up adding a bunch of stuff, including an extra drink. When my order arrived (on time) I noticed that the second drink was missing. I told the guy not to worry about it but he said it was no problem and that he'd go fix it. Well, Troy stayed true to his word and drove all the way back to go get me my second drink and came all the way back to my apartment even though it was close to their closing time when my order first arrived and after their closing time (and I'm sure when his shift ended) by the time I got the drink. I am so impressed at the efforts to get me my complete order. So, the food: Arrived hot, except for the ice cream which was still perfectly frozen. My modifications to the teriyaki chicken were done correctly, what I wanted removed wasn't there and what I wanted added was. Super pleased about that, the actual chicken was good but not mind blowing, it tasted like they added the sauce to the chicken instead of cooking it in the sauce but w/e. The vegetables were great though, they weren't just flavorless filler it was a complete dish. My girlfriend always orders egg drop soup when we get chinese food and she was really impressed. I had some of it as well and it was great, flavorful and not oily like some restaurants. The fried pork pot stickers were great. Keep in mind that they are the deep fried version not the pan fried. TL;DR: best general Tso's in Austin!!!!! I've only been compelled to leave one other post for Yelp but I have to say this is by far the best Chinese or Thai fusion that I found in Austin! They have the best general Tso's chicken and all of Austin! Seriously was so taken by it I went and had GTso's at 4 other places in a week and nothing compares! Best wonton soup in town as well! This is the only place we order Chinese food from anymore. It's the best Chinese food I've found in Austin. I'm only giving them 4 stars because I'm setting the bar at some of the places I used to get Chinese in Chinatown in San Francisco and New York. Their website makes it really easy to order online and prevents order mistakes. The food always arrives within 30 minutes. We occasionally try other places to see if anywhere else is better, but so far we've always come back to Bamboo Bistro. read more

I actually really enjoyed eating here. They offer ahi tuna && white bass which is apart of my diet (pescatarian) so I ordered the seared ahi tuna. My daughter enjoyed her sweet n sour children's entree. The Thai tea was good too. It was my first time giving that a try as well. I almost forgot. The crab wontons were good, not the best I ever had. But good!! The manager was very attentive by asking how we enjoyed our lunch and stoking up friendly conversation and the cashier was organized in getting the tables cleaned quickly when guests left. Food: we had General Tso's chicken Sesame Chicken, wonton soup, egg drop soup, and crab and jalapeño rangoons. Would go back for the chicken dishes (they were great!) and the rangoons again (had a few spicy spicy ones!) The soup was just so-so and not very warm. The restaurant had lots of tables that needed to be bussed, there was food on the floor (looks like a kid was sitting in that particular area) but the flow of people in and out was constant and the staff was so busy getting food out. I normally only post 100% positive reviews, but I want to help out any other vegans who are planning to order here! I ordered the kimchi fried rice and the veggie potstickers. I had to select an appetizer through Uber eats, and the meal became pretty costly because of it. I paid $6 for soggy, over fried potstickers and $17 for the kimchi fried rice. There was an up charge of $1.10 to make the rice vegan, and it had little to no flavor and was super watery. The vegetables weren't fresh tasting, probably frozen. Maybe the experience is different eating at the restaurant, but the wait was only about ~30 minutes. My boyfriend ordered the crab rangoons appetizer and noticed there was only cream cheese in the filling. Maybe the crab was minced? He ate his chicken dish (Mongolian) but said it wasn't worth $17 because the portions were small and the food was "average". His egg drop soup was sweeter than he was used to. Overall I appreciate them being open for delivery but they really need to step up their game if they're going to price their food the way they do. After years of driving by this deserted corner, I was thrilled a new restaurant was opening. This was good Americanized Chinese food. Authentic, no, but this is perfect for your take-out fix. I got beef lo mein with lots of huge chunks of beef. The boyfriend got Pad Thai and they even made it a bit spicy for him. He also had big pieces of nice chicken in it. We also got an order of jalapeño crab puffs. They were a win, too! I would say the food is a four star rating, but the service and friendly guy at the window made is a full five starts. I used to really enjoy Bamboo Bistro when they first opened on west gate, but since then this restaurant has been on a steady decline. It began with orders coming in wrong with over cooked items, & has ended with Bamboo Bistro giving not only myself, but also my 3 year old son food poisoning from one of the simplest dishes, the beef broccoli. I will not be returning ever again to Bamboo Bistro. I would suggest you do the same to avoid food poisoning. I gave this place a year to improve, but instead they gave my son & myself. I used to really like this place... Until they served my 6 year old raw shrimp. We got take out and after I started to chew the first bite of my spring roll, it was wrong. I knew instantly that avocado texture in my mouth was wrong. It was RAW SHRIMP. Not just a little underdone... Slimy, squishy, raw; and since they were halved, whomever prepared this knew they were raw. Absolutely, atrociously unacceptable. So I announce to the dinner table that my shrimp were raw... My daughter asks, "Mommy, if they're squishy, does that mean that they're raw?". Not too far from home. I never call ahead; usually just run inside and my order is made almost instantly. They pack it well, so it survives the 13 minute trip home with ease. I often get the lo mein, which is usually well cooked, with a good hint of firmness. My son went for an old fast foody staple, the orange chicken. Out of curiosity, I tasted a piece, and it was to die for. It was tender with a barely-crispy light shell. The orange sauce wasn't syrupy, and instead had a very fresh mandarin/honey essence with enough sweetness to taste, but not overpower. Quite exceptional, PE doesn't even come close.
