Mystery place looks like it's closed but when u enter it's so good the food is great here and my family I went here and when I tell u this has to be the best Chinese food I've ever had in my whole life of living we've always been passing by it in our time living here in Austin and its so life changing.

    Lo Mein + dumplings

This place is by far the best hangover Chinese, night in, lunar new year, movie night, affordable takeout food. There are "fancier" Chinese places in the city to order from but they don't travel well whatsoever. Bamboo bistro travels incredibly well. The food is classic, comforting Chinese food. Generous portions. Great for large parties. Quality ingredients. I served this when I hosted my sex and the city season two watch party - and it was a hit. Don't sleep on the lo mein.

I had a barber appointment next door so I stopped in as I had been to the Bamboo Bistro near the Domain. There were zero prices on the menu, the dining area and exterior of the building were harrowing, and the view of the kitchen was rough. Still, the food was decent -- I highly recommend the jalapeño cream cheese wontons. The chicken is always the same...overcooked and quite flavorless. The fried rice was lacking flavor as well and was super oily. The staff was super nice but I won't be back...

Consistent, good food, good proportions and inexpensive. This is my go-to Asian food spot. The jalapeño crab Rangoons and Thai soup are 2 of my favs. The soup is soooo good, I want it in my veins!! Perfectly spicy, citrusy, and salty. These are some of the best Rangoons too. I got general tso chicken for the first time, wasn't my fav it had a very slight burnt taste BUT it was still good.

Traditional Chinese fast food. It's tasty and a good location with easy parking and it also has good service but it's very Americanized. It is locally owned but since they have gotten busier over the years it seems like they've added a lot of sugar and salt to all the food. I would make sure to get something that is naturally less sugar and salt. I like general tso's chicken and sesame shrimp but both are just loaded with sugar. The food comes out fast and hot.

The chef Chef's Special Seared Ahi Tuna, and some Orange Peel chicken on the left side (given to me by my mom). Fried rice up top

I want to give like 3.7-3.8 stars but I'll round up to 4. This place makes decent to go Asian food, I would say it's just a slight step up from your Panda Express quality and definitely has more options on their menu, but it's no "nice sit down restaurant." The interior is 3/5 stars at best, it's whatever. Not fancy by any means, kind of reminds me of an older diner or a McDonalds (so you can eat there - but why would you when you can get the food to go and eat in the comfort of your home?). I ordered the chef special seared tuna which comes with sautéed spinach/bacon and rice, and my mom got their version of orange chicken and shared some with me. The food was on the salty side but it got the job done, it killed the craving for Asian food. For the price, it's just standard i would say. If you're wanting a nice sit down Asian restaurant meal, try somewhere else but if you want slightly nicer to go asian food this is a fine option.

Absolutely…read more After my umpteenth visit, I think it's safe to say I've worked my way through almost the entire menu (minus a few noodle, chicken & vegetarian dishes). My 2025 review still stands, but after so many visits, I've noticed a few items haven't been good as they used to, particularly the chicken wings (and yes, all three of them). The Garlic Wings haven't been hitting quite the same lately. They've started to taste a little dry, and the saucier wings taste better the next day since they don't have time to steep through once served. The Filet Mignon Pepper Steak is still my favorite dish on the menu, but I still can't justify ordering it family-style anymore. It's delicious, but the portion just doesn't match the price. One of the newest additions--the Truffle Fried Rice is spectacular. It's light, not overpowering with truffle, and the fish eggs really adds the perfect little pop of texture/flavor. I don't think I breathed the entire I scarfed it down!! 1618 is still one of my favorite restaurants in Austin of all time, but I think it's time for the menu to elevate a bit and dive deeper into less mainstream Asian cuisine. If anyone can do it, 1618 can.

I came here on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and I was intrigued before I even sat down. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a beautifully designed waiting area showcasing the restaurant's many awards and accolades. It immediately sets the tone that you're in for something special. We came with one goal: try as many things as possible. Saturdays are perfect for that because they offer dim sum. We started with the Pho Xiao Long Bao (Wagyu beef soup dumplings) and the Korean pancakes. The soup dumplings completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, delicate wrappers, rich and flavorful broth, and with just a touch of chili oil...absolute perfection. I've had soup dumplings in many places, and these are hands down the best I've ever had. I say that with my whole chest. The Korean pancakes were also outstanding. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect balance of savory and just a hint of sweetness. Every bite had great texture and flavor. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Banana Salmon. It was spectacular. It's one of those dishes that makes you question whether you've ever really had good curry before. The spice wasn't about heat, it was about depth, warmth, and layers of beautifully balanced flavor. I ordered the Crab&Shrimp Tom Yum Coconut Fried Rice, and this dish deserves its own paragraph. The presentation alone is stunning. The fried rice is served inside a fresh coconut, surrounded by banana leaves and topped with a beautiful orchid. But thankfully, it tastes every bit as incredible as it looks. The coconut adds a delicate sweetness without overpowering the dish. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. Overall, 1618 Asian Fusion delivered on every level, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional food, and genuinely welcoming service. It's one of those restaurants that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the bill. Highly recommend!

The restaurant itself has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. It seems like a nice place to have a meal. As for the food, we ordered: Pad thai with chicken, mild spice - unfortunately this was a bit dry for me, though the taste was good. Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.

There were so many new dishes that caught my eye, but I immediately gravitated toward the Creamy Crab Curry and it was absolutely the right choice. The curry was rich, creamy and packed with flavor while the fried soft-shell crab was perfectly cooked and added a great texture to the dish. Honestly, it's the kind of meal I could see myself ordering every week. My partner went with the Lost Recipe, which looked just as delicious. You can never really go wrong with fried chicken, and this version certainly didn't disappoint. The service was equally impressive. Our server was friendly, attentive and checked in regularly throughout the meal. She even brought us a complimentary crab pastry to try, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. One thing to note this place gets busy, especially during lunch so plan accordingly. That said, the food and service are well worth it and the menu is reasonably priced. Kiin Di has successfully made the jump from food truck to full-service restaurant and it's definitely earned a spot on my regular rotation.
