Che used to scare me. Imaging a plethora of colorful unrecognizable things growing in your cup, resembling a science project that had been left out in the sun over summer break. Then you come back to school and open the lid, and you think you have Che. I'm glad I overcame my fear...and now I'm hooked on the #6. read more

Oh my jelly. I was trying to find something in San Jose that I couldn't readily find down in LA. And up comes Bambu. What a fun little chain. Really small inside, so be prepared to take your drink to go. There are a few tables though. What a nice alternative to boba drinks! Although I could never get tired of boba, it's nice to have other options for beverages. I was a little skeptic at first, but man alive, these beverages are a blast in a plastic cup. There's a LOT going on inside this beverage, no matter which one you choose. This is definitely a meal of a drink. Super filling and even more so, if you get it with beans. So for you little ladies out there, if you are having this as your dessert, you might want to share this drink with your boyfriend. Che is the perfect dessert on a hot or cold day. And they have 17 different types of che so how can you lose???? The servers are pretty good about getting your orders out fast. If you are new to che, I recommend #6 because it's one of the more sweeter desserts and doesn't have a whole bunch of beans that can be off putting to some. I haven't had a chance to try their milk teas or smoothies but I think I need to since the milk teas in the SJ area aren't that great.... The weird thing is that they just play viet music videos all day long and it can get loud. AND a lot of times, those music videos typically have scantily clad women in them so you get all these creepy old viet dudes just staring at the tv and they dont even hear their order being called out... LOL They just need to open a few of these down in SoCal!!! read more

It's pretty tough to find a good che place, even in SJ in my opinion. Being born and raised in Orange County, there are a plethora of really amazing Vietnamese dessert spots and they're super cheap too! Bambu was recommended to us by the SBBF's friends and we had to try it out right after eating some pretty delicious NO MSG pho. I got the Che Trai Cay (fruit and gelatin dessert in coconut milk). I'd have to say, the gelatin they used was perfectly chewy and sweet. The fruits were very fresh, I especially liked the huge lychees and longans thrown into my cup. And it was priced pretty decently at $3.75. Not too shabby. Most of their ches run from $3.25-$4.00. It's not like $1.50-$2 a cup like back home, but for the flavor and texture of everything, it's a winner for me. :) The SBBF got himself a lychee slushee drink with rainbow jelly. And he liked it a lot. I had a sip and thought the flavoring was very good as well. Apparently, there's another Bambu location that makes even better che than this one. If I'm ever back in ESJ...which is not very often (scurrrrred of Asian-populated areas), I'll definitely stop in here again to get my sweet fix, Vietnamese style! read more

Sweet coconut! Oh hey, this is the root of my Bambu Addiction. I don't like sweet drinks, I don't like che, but man this place changed my dirty ways. it's tasty and good and I would say I love it! Special order number 1 for me, with a side of extra ice. This bambu is cleaner than the original and there is a bit more seating. Well maybe the seating is the same, i'm just a bit delusional because i am so hungry right now. Anyhow, worth going to, worth getting your che to make your palate dance. read more

Anybody who is into Vietnamese dessert lovin' of che like me should go to Bambu! Bambu is a chain, and I believe there are three other locations which include two in Milpitas and one in Cupertino. I usually also request to separate the ice and drinks since I like to scoop in my preferable amount of ice into my drink. I'm also not a fan of anything mushy or anything with beans in my che. Not really a fan of the Che Dau Xanh kinda of che, but more so pandan jelly and tapioca chewy goodness. If you like to give your jaw a workout, then I recommend the following. My personal favorites are the #1,6, and 10. #1: Coconut water with basil seed, coconut shavings, and perfectly chewy pandan jelly. This is a wonderful refreshing drink after a workout as coconut water also has electrolytes to restore nutrients in the body after intense sweating! #6: Chè trái cây: Lychee, Longan, Pandan Jelly, Red Tapioca, Jackfruit, Palm Seed. This is more of a dessert drink and would probably be suitable after Pho or a salty meal. Or just a dessert craving! #10: Grass jelly, pandan jelly, and red tapioca. All of my favorites into one, and this is simple, not easy to hate, and ideal for first timers. *Avocado shakes here are absolutely wonderful as well. Delightfully creamy with the right amount of sweetness that isn't overbearing. Bambu's boba is also on point and perfectly chewy. I've been here at least 7 times and this is definitely a place where I'm a regular whenever I come back to San Jose. read more

This place has definitely gone downhill since the change of management. Ordered 5 drinks and then it started to get busy after me. But why did everyone AFTER me get their orders BEFORE me???? Took over 20 minutes to finish my drinks while everyone else was gone. They obviously don't know how to run a business and prioritize customers in the correct order. Not coming back and would advise others to do the same. read more

Darnit. As if I need another excuse to get a (few cups of) che or some sweet fruity milk tea, another Bambu done open near my hizzouse. This location is too close to home; both a blessing and a curse! I must say that this plaza isn't the most happening location for Vietnamese desserts, but this is only in comparison to the Hostetter location, which is one of San Jose's indisputable meccas of Asian food and drivers. Their che and milk tea seem to be on par and follow the same recipes as the o.g. Bambu, but I'll have to do some more research *ahemeatmorecheahem* and get back to you on that. :] read more

I am addicted to their milk tea and che desserts. Their pearls are always so nice and chewy, except for one rare occasion where I experienced otherwise. This location is in the Maxim Supermarket plaza, next door to Goldilocks. The girls here are nice and they always have music videos playing. Sometimes they are playing videos that are clearly not PG-13 which annoy me especially if I see children in the place. That's my only gripe. Other than that, I like this location and it's the closest one to me. Cash only. read more

To be honest, I don't really know how to rate this place. I'm not a big fan of Asian desserts (HUGE American dessert lover though!!) but I decided to try something new since I've seen so many of my other friends drinking them. I tried #1 - the Bambu Special - seemed like the safest since I knew what most of the ingredients were (coconut, pandan jelly, longan, basil seed). My mistake though because I didn't really like the combination of all of them. The only thing I think I really like was the basil seeds. To people who actually like these type of drinks, I think it would be good. The fruit tasted pretty fresh and it wasn't too sweet or syrup-y. Not recommend! Been here 2 times, the first one I got #1, there was some DIRT at the end. I was like "ewww, gross". I got 5 drinks and when I arrived to the office, it was poured over, do they know how to pack drinks for to go? Even the plastic bag look dang dirty. The second time I got smashed avocado, I intent to go to Mclaughlin Bambu, but this one is closer so I gave it another chance. Even though I ordered less sweet but they made it extremely sweet. I repeated it 2 times but I didn't see the cashier write down "less sweet" in the note. So pretty sure because of the cashier. Too over sweet and too much condensed milk. Don't know why this place is so crowded! Poor services, poor quality. Big NO to this place. Never go again. read more

Bought 7 cups of desserts and 3 cups of che were spoiled. We called to let management know so they won't sell it to anyone else. They insisted that they have re-examed all their toppings and nothing is bad. My Mom bought those three cups back to their store and the manager changed her words and admitted that only 1 topping is bad but got really upset at Mom. She blamed it on her worker and did offered to replace the cups. We don't want more desserts but their service and they way they handled this was unacceptable. Instead of accepting their mistake, they denied it and tried to blame it on the customers. They tried to act professional by offering the replacements but didn't admit that their foods/desserts were spoiled and challenged customer's complaints. This will be my last time here. read more

This location is starting to slip. The last two times, I've had a bad experience. About two weeks ago, their AC was not working so it was unbearably hot inside the store. My friend ordered Mocha with pearls and noticed the milk was lumpy and not fresh. It was probably from them leaving some of the ingredients on the counter. Since we already drove away, he ended up drinking it anyway and did not feel good later. My drink (iced green tea with grass jelly) was fine that time. When I went back last week, I ordered a che ba mau and it was not very fresh. While I didn't get sick from it, my wife and I both noticed a "chemical" taste. Whereas before it was mainly the inconsistent service that held me back from rating it higher, now the drinks are starting to be inconsistent. I will be looking for another place to get my drinks. read more

I went here a month and a half ago, only reviewing now..... First heard about this Bambu place from my sister when she mentioned they had a drink comparative to the Filipino version of the "Halo-Halo". When I entered the store, I heard some loud pop music playing on their flatscreen TV just to the left of me. It gave the place a sort of rave like feel to the place. I ordered the #2 and waited for a while. I didn't time it, but it was a while................. First sip was really refreshing, the flavors were really sweet and fresh. However the serving was small, considering the price I paid for it 3.25 This is you're typical Vietnamese dessert drink food place. First time here was positive, I definitely like their flavors and how fresh their ingredients are. Will come back to try their smoothies and other drinks on the menu. read more

First of all... I always repeat my orders to make sure my orders are correct if it's a face to face order ... especially if it's someone with a really, really big accent noticeable when they talk to me. I haven't had any wrong order issues from here. It's close by to where I shop locally in the neighborhood, you know, when I'm not in the mood for TapEx or Tii :) There's bambu to choose from. Even my mom likes it from here, and she's one of the 'For that price, I can make it at home for you" type. I haven't tried any of their desserts yet, only their drinks. Orange Chiller - refreshing on hot days without the thought of a caffeine rush (AKA coffee) Hazelnut Mocha - It was a bit bitter, so ask for them to sweeten it up for you. The first I had it, I didn't know what the flavor would be like, so now, when I order this, I ask them to make it sweet :) Thai Milk Tea - I always go with no pearl, I am not a pearl person. Their drinks are on the strong side, so I ask for more ice and wait a little for it to melt before I drink it. But yummie just the same, and when the ice melts, I know it's not watery tasting :D read more

Avocado shakes are weird. I didn't use to think of a sweet dessert when I thought of an avocado but, times have changed. In fact, the first time I had an avocado shake, I didn't like it. The mix was too different for me. Then I tried it again and it wasn't so bad. Then I started thinking about them randomly. Then I started to crave them... ((sigh)) Now I have a new mini-addiction. That being said, this little Asian snack shop serves up a mean avocado smash or avocado shake. It's definitely worth a trip. They have some indoor and outdoor seating, too. Too bad it's a lil too far from my house. I'll hit it up when I go to Brigadoon park for the cement slides though! Jeeeeezus!!! This place is like a crack house for my foodie friends and I. We all get totally jelaous when one of us "checks in" to Bambu. I swear everyday, someone in the foodie group will check-in here.... And it sucks for me because Bambu only exists in San Jose so I'm always the super jealous one!! BLAH!! I use to go to the Hostettor location a lot when I lived around the area. After I moved, finding good pearl tea was hard since Tap Ex and Sweet Tea are the only ones around. I use to drive all the way to Verde in Fremont for my pearl tea fix until this Bambu arrived! I know I'm Vietnamese, I should like Che (dessert). But I'm more of a drinks kind of gal... so my favorites here are Jasmine Milk Tea, Almond Milk Tea, Strawberry Fantasy and Passion-in-Love. I love pearls and theirs are delicious! read more

I was in the area and was craving an Avocado smoothie. Found Bambi and dropped in. It's in an old plaza but the store itself is so nice and clean. It's really cuute inside. The people who run the place clearly care about the shop. It's not too big inside but they also have outdoor seats. The person who helped me was SO NICE. Like I've never experienced such a pleasant and friendly person in a long while for any place. They have an nice and broad spread of menu of drinks. I ordered an Avocado smoothie and waited. Sat at one of the stool seats on the side. After a few minutes the drink was ready. And o have to say it again, the people were SO NICE. I was pleasantly surprised as if you've been to so many other tea shops the workers could sometimes ines care less. Bonus was the drink was good, with fresh and soft boba. We learned the hard way that the parking lot gets packed. Sometimes you'll get stuck in the super small lot because someone isn't even in a spot -- they just have their car parked with the hazards on while they run in to pick up their drink. Other times, cars are waiting and signaling for a parking spot while other cars are on standby waiting for people to leave after grabbing their drinks. The gas station behind the shop clearly got tired of it too because they put up a bunch of signs saying they'll tow if you park there just to visit Molly Tea. I highly recommend parking down the street near the apartment sidewalks or across the street and taking a little stroll to the store instead. Honestly, it just showed me that no matter how tiny the lot was, people still made the effort to slide through for drank. I believe you can ask for the whipped cream in a paper cup instead and get a small package of pecans. They automatically do this for online takeout orders. The Snowy Jasmine is phenomenal! It's fragrant and floral, you can tell the tea quality is very high and not watered down. I absolutely love the pecans topping, so unique and yummy. I used to think their super thin straw was just a gimmick, but the tea honestly tastes better through the small straw than a regular straw. I did try it with a regular straw at home as well lol 4.5 stars because the Tongmu Lapsang Bubble Tea is just OK, nothing special about it. Sunnyvale is one of the better locations and Molly Tea is a solid choice for bubble tea.

Strawberry Matcha Einspanner - I opted for the einspanner because I wanted something on the sweeter side. The cream on the top was so fluffy and textured, it was enjoyable to scoop up with the small spoon. Mixed all together, the matcha flavor came through really well and was enhanced by the sweetness of the strawberry. I have gone back to get the same strawberry matcha einspanner a couple times and it hits every time. I would highly recommend going for their drinks especially if you need a little sweet treat or pick me up.

A little tangy, mochi was nice, but the drink wasn't cold at all. My wife works basically next door, so she can order ahead of time and pick it up on the way home.
