First time coming here I tried the #7, which is the basil seed & longan che. For $3.75 I thought the che was well worth it and the longan was good! ---------- The second time I went to this location I decided to try the #5 (Avocado, pearl, and combo jelly). I love avocadoes and a couple of my friends have told me this was their favorite one from BAMBU's menu! If you love avocadoes you'd like this one, but mine lacked all the other ingredients! My cup only had a couple of pearls and barely any jelly in it. And the jelly that was in my cup were sliced SOOOOO small, you won't even get to enjoy and chew on the jelly ingredients! I was left with chunks of avocados! Why the inconsistency BAMBU? ---------- No complaints about the service here. They take your order fast and your drinks are ready in no time! When I'm craving for some authentic Vietnamese dessert, this is my go to place! When I was a kid the only time I was ever able to have this was when my friend and I went to eat out at a Vietnamese restaurant. We were thrilled when this place opened and you could just walk in to order this dessert without having to have a sit down meal in addition to it. The staff here have always been friendly, patient, and very quick about making the drinks. I've tried almost all of their desserts and they're all great depending on whether you like beans more or fruit more and maybe you like the avocado mash (which is a little too rich for my taste). The great thing about it is you don't even have to order off their menu. You could just pick and choose which ingredients you like in your drink and order that way. They're very flexible in that sense. So that delicious cup of heaven is less than $4? Yeah some days I definitely prefer than over a cup of milk tea for $4. The place itself is located in a worn down area but it's still popular none the less. Great plus that it's next to a pho place that's open late. They do have sofas and tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy your dessert. Happy almost Chinese New Years everyone!!! Dropped by BAMBU today after a workout at the gym. I customized my drink because there are some items on the menu that I can't drink. I ordered their Che dessert with coconut milk. I added taro, baby red beans, red tapioca, and grass jelly. I did lower the amount of sugar and asked to have the ice in the side. I also upgraded my drink to a large because why not? My total for this drink was $6.25 which isn't bad. I really enjoyed my drink especially on a cold rainy day. For some reason everything taste better in the cold. I love how their dessert toppings taste fresh. I've had the BAMBU located on Aborn and their toppings are stale and chewy. My go to for Vietnamese dessert! I Usually ALWAYS get the Bambu special. The number 4 I believe.I have tried a few of their other desserts but nothing really compares to my Bambu special :) They have nice decor. Just hate how they can get pretty crowded. Its a pretty small location so it can feel a bit claustrophobic. Also hate how sometimes Im waiting for my dessert or enjoying it from the inside and there are smokers outside. like how the hell am i supposed to enjoy a dessert when all i smell are cigarettes. I'm glad Bambu opens at 8am. It's so convenient for me to come grab something before work. They have pretty much everything from coffee to milktea to che and they're all taste pretty good to me. I've tried most of the che and some of the smoothies and a few of the coffee. My number one fav would always be smashed avocado with durian mix with a hint of coconut juice....something you'll have to request becus the one on the menu doesn't have durian nor coconut juice and they mix with jellies and boba which i think change the taste a bit. Tried their coconut milktea and first time ever i see milktea with actual coconut meat in it. They use fresh coconut milk to make this which i think is just amazing. Place isn't very clean. On a rainy and cold day they left the main door wide open. No consideration to customers. Loud TV. Couldn't even hear my friend talk. NOT GOING BACK. Something told me to eat lunch at Story Road so I can see if Bambu Snack & Coffee Shoppe's fourth location will be open today. There is nothing more exciting for me than to see a Grand Opening sign spread across the top of the front door of a new business. It is a thriving new franchise that started when a pair of beautiful entrepreneurs (Vietnamese sisters) started to expand the family che enterprise from their original location in Hostetter near Ranch 99 Supermarket to other Vietnamese communities. The friendly clerk took my order and asked me if I have been to their Hostetter location. I have been to all of them including the one on Aborn except for their newest location Stockton Blvd in Sacramento. She gave me a funny look when I asked her to add coconut milk into the #1 Bambu Special which already has young coconut, pandan jelly, and tongan, and basil seed for $4.25. Out of 97 items of milk teas, hot drinks, cold drinks, frappuccino, smoothies, and che, this is the most popular and expensive item. The che at Hien Khanh inside Grand Century and Thanh Son across the street next to Lee's Sandwich costs about $1.50 for a small cup. The margin is to pay for the nice contemporary interior with the elegant petite chandelier above the register on top of the granite countertop, the cute round coffee tables to sit and watch Vietnamese music videos, the fresh displays of signature colorful orchids, and of course, for the bathroom behind the wall with painted three bamboo trees. Most Vietnamese sandwich shops or che places do not have bathrooms like the competing New Bambu in Milipitas. They don't give you as much fruit in the Che Thai with durian here but I will sacrifice knowing that I have temporarity relieve nearby. A couple of years ago, Mr. Casanova introduced me and his recently enhanced lover to Bambu. Now everyone knows about this brand, including my sister-in-law who wants to open one too. Unfortunately, the owners of Bambu are only expanding the business within their family so Chi Thuy, you will have to think of a new name (warning: stay away from the name New Bambu) or else they will sue the pants off of you. With the forecast of huge profitability, maybe they can spare some change to fix the front of my car because that cement block in the front parking space facing the entry always skin my Lexus. When Banh Xeo A Phu was here I used to scrape the bottom of my car too. Today I was so excited to know that it was Grand Opening that I nearly ran into their glass double door. Che Che time. I believe this was the first Bambu shop that opened, smaller than the one down in Bolsa. A cute little place to come get some desserts or just relax and hang out with friends, they have Vietnamese music videos playing hip young music, so that was pretty cool. They have a ton of different kinds of che, coffee, milk teas, frappes. Love the varieties that you can choose, I enjoyed their pandan che, very chewy and flavorful. The che was not too sweet like those other places, and overall the price was decent, around $3.25 for a cup. It is near that new Vietnam Plaza and that Nor Cal version of Asian Garden Mall down here in Bolsa, lots of parking spaces. One of my NorCal friends seems to go banana manzana about this place so much on his facebook that we had to check it out when we were in San Jose. It was not a big surprise to learn that a few other friends around San Jose also like Bambu house made che` (Vietnamese sweet dessert soups/smoothies). I only sampled one dessert, the #5 , but I wasn't fully satisfied. I am not sure it is a love or a hate, but I certainly need to have more to decide. In my opinion, the concept of Bambu franchise is creative as it takes the Vietnamese che` to the next level, growing from the ghetto Banh Mi Che Cali and Thach Che Hien Khanh, putting in some nice designed cups, and expands its menu with a variety of ingredients and adds on. Nevertheless, the menu itself is too extensive even for a Vietnamese like myself to choose. I strongly recommend them to post more photos of popular desserts so non-Vietnamese customers wouldn't waste time looking at their lengthy menu. Customer service: I love to see a smile behind the counter when I walk in a restaurant, not a big grumpy face that portrays "I hate my job". Customer service here is truly great. Only cash is accepted. There are a sofa with a coffee table and few other tall tables with chairs. There is also a big plasma screen which shows up-to-date V-pop music videos. Food: The dessert portion is huge, considering you pay about $3.5-$4 each. All three of us ordered #5, the avocado dessert, it was delicious as you could feel the freshness of the avocado, but we was satiated after finishing half of it. I've been to three of their locations now: Hostetter, Aborn, and this new location on McLaughlin. I noticed the same staff from the Hostetter location working at this location, but I still prefer going to the one on Hostetter for some reason--don't ask me why. Anyway, the che here is pretty comparable to the other locations. Fresh and delicious! My favorite used to be the suong sa hot luu (it includes pink water chestnut tapioca pearls, grass jelly, and this other green jelly), but now my favorite is the #5! It's basically an avocado shake, with a combination of blended avocado and condensed milk, chunks of avocado, pearls, and brick jelly. It is so satisfying and I literally crave it all the time! The store is new, so it is nice and clean. The staff is friendly and I do not know whether it's because they have a good memory or because I go there way too much, but they always remember me! If you've got a sweet tooth, I suggest giving them a try! They have milk teas, coffee, and smoothies too and prices are reasonable. read more

I am not a big fan of smoothies so I rarely get it here... But on some occasions I do. Tried the #2 with the red, mung bean, etc drink/dessert. It was delicious. If you're a big Asian red/mung bean fan, this is a must try. The way the drink/dessert was made is an art in itself. The different layers of beans, taro, jelly, and coconut juice all mixed together was heavenly. I did not find it to be too sweet at all. Price was more than fair for what you get. UGGGGGGH. I am craving Bo Dam right now. Basically, it's smashed up avocado with condensed milk, ice, and assortments of jellys. You can even ask for durian to be added to your Bo Dam. This location I feel always makes the best Bo Dam out of all the other locations. It's not too thin/liquidy. I like the chunks of avocado and the consistency to be rather thick. It does not get anymore Vietnamese than this. The ches here are also a must-try, but for those who are less adventurous, no worries! There's so much offered that are more friendly to those who are not familiar with the classic Vietnamese desserts. There are milk teas, smoothies, and juices as well! The passionfruit juice is absolutely delicious and fresh, so I highly suggest this drink for those who want to try something a little more on the exotic side but still too timid to try anything else! I'm liking these colorful Vietnamese dessert drinks. With each visit, I'm figuring out my preferences. For instance, at this San Jose location, I found I don't love grass jelly, but pandan jelly which is less chewy & is bright green, is more my style. I added taro to my coconut milk-base drink (#9, $3.75) & that was overpoweringly sticky. 4 stars for this drink (as opposed to the 3 stars I previously gave for their too-thick avocado drink I had at the daly city store), but 3 stars for the location. The purple couches are filthy & one of the employees had their friend's baby on the counter where drinks are placed. Unsanitary & unprofessional (I care less about the latter issue.) Excellent place for refreshing viet desserts. I always come here and get the Hat Luu Suong Sao Banh Lot (a bunch of flavorful tapioca and jelly with crushed ice and coconut milk). I would go here everyday if I could, but I shouldn't (for financial and moderation reasons). It isn't pricey at all though. They are generally nice and the service is fast. Want to know what my childhood tastes like? Of course you don't, but that shouldn't stop you from checking out Bambu anyway. The Vietnamese dessert here is so legit, I go out of my way to get their che. The Bambu Special ($4.75) is my favorite, a dessert drink filled with chewy pandan jelly, sweet longan fruit, basil seeds, and fresh young coconut meat and juice, topped with crushed ice. Their che is so good that I haven't had a chance to try specials from their boba, coffee, or smoothie menus. What I love best about Bambu is that the prices are so reasonable for drinks using fresh coconut juice, which is so much better than paying the same amount for artificial flavorings at typical boba tea joints.
