I had high hopes for Bangkok Thyme after seeing it featured on a local television segment. We were greeted cordially upon entry by a lady who was most likely an owner or manager. After being seated it took some time for us to decide upon our orders so eventually a different lady checked on us. This lady was totally robotic, no smile, no enthusiasm or energy. It was very difficult for her to answer questions about the menu and the options offered. We decided to just point to the items and take them as the chef prepared them. We ordered an appetizer of squid rings which came AFTER our main entrees arrived. We had a sushi order as an app and it arrived with our entrees. The squid rings were tasty and I'd order them again if I ever returned. My entree was so underwhelming I don't remember what it was. The miso soup was ok, and the California rolls were okay. Maybe I should have arrived with a television film crew in order to be treated like a valued customer. The menu isn't cheap versus the quality of the service and the mediocrity of the food. I've been craving some Thai, and glad I found this restaurant. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai, which is a dish that I usually order from Thai restaurants. While I was waiting, I actually met a Lady that's a regular and she recommended several different dishes and the Thai tea. She said she loved the food. My food came out pretty quick, in about 5-7 minutes. No eating utensils or napkins were in the bag. The Pad Thai was good, nice size shrimp, and peanuts were on the side. The Pad Thai was 12.95, plus 5.00 for shrimp, which is kinda pricey in my opinion. But, I would try this restaurant again. read more

The plate looked lovely, and the chicken was fresh and hot, but the chicken was a bit dry and the chicken and the satay sauce both seemed under-seasoned and flat in favor. Our main dishes were Shrimp Pad See-Eew, and Chicken Masaman Curry. Both dishes came out hot and fresh, but like the Satay, they lacked any depth of flavor and just seemed bland. The Masaman was requested to be "hot" it was neither spicy hot nor flavorful. Unfortunately pretty surroundings and great service don't make up for lackluster food. Disgusting food. I would leave negative stars if I could. I want to share about my issue with an order tonight. This was the most ridiculous experience I've ever had. I had rotten food delivered that was so inedible I had to throw it away, and also missing items that I paid for. All I asked for was a refund for the order as the sushi was spoiled, the massaman curry was so spicy it was not able to be eaten (I ordered mild), the panang curry tasted like dirty dish water and was also too spicy (again I ordered mild), and I was missing the extra vegetables I paid for. The items I received went into the trash. My driver for Uber was nice but Uber Eats and this experience was absolutely disgusting. read more

This is the first Thai restaurant that I've tried in the area that I would actually recommend to someone. When you walk in, the decor is top notch, and the booths feel very homey and comfortable (complete with pillows so you don't have to sit against the wooden backs if you don't want to. The service was rather slow, even though there weren't many customers there, but that seems the going rate as we slug through this pandemic. Thankfully, we weren't in a big hurry, and had lots of time to chat and catch up while we were there. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew. The Pad Thai noodles looked overcooked, but I was told the flavor on them was pretty good (although the beef was picked out as it was way too chewy). Mine was delicious, although not a ton of flavor, but it was a solid meal, and very filling. I always have a problem with places that served canned beverages because (1) no refills, and (2) often times the drinks taste stale. It wasn't the end of the world, but wasn't that great, either. The Sandy Springs area has a lot of great restaurants that I would love to try and this one in particular, I really enjoyed. Of course, my family got Sushi and I chose the shrimp fried rice. The portion was a great size and for that price, I would expect it to be. This establishment really makes you feel like you're in another country. The people, the decorations, the all around atmosphere is amazing. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and she also recommended their popular dishes. I feel badly about posting this, but it was a horrible meal. The shrimp in my pad Thai was rancid. We could smell it as it approach the table. I didn't wanna believe that they had served me seafood. It smelled like that. But even my husband smelled it from across the other side of the table. It was horrible and we sent it back, no one came out to apologize for the obviously bad seafood. No manager no owner. It made me very sad because I love this restaurant. I heard from my mother that she had had a similar experience the week before at the same restaurant. This review is a bit late, as I've been here for dinner in the past and enjoyed my meal. Today, I came here with a coworker and was pleasantly surprised with their offerings on the lunch menu. We started with an order of the vegetarian spring rolls (you get 3, but they come split in half) which are perfect for sharing. My coworker ordered what is probably their most popular offering - the thai/sushi combo. This comes in a "bento box" style and gives you the most bang for your buck ($9.95) - you get a soup or salad, 4 Pcs. of California Roll or 3 pieces of Sushi Nigiri, jasmine rice, entree, and cucumber salad. I didn't order this because I wasn't in the mood for sushi and I didn't want to waste food. My coworker really enjoyed her meal and said she will be back. I ordered the lunch portion of the Bangkok Ginger with Tofu. It was a decent portion but I wish the sauce was a little thicker. It was still good nonetheless. Outside of the food, the service was decent. Our waitress was also the hostess, cashier, busboy, you name it! LOL! I wouldn't be shocked if she was in the back cooking, too. Because we arrived promptly at 12pm, we didn't have to wait too long to be seated but we noticed some larger groups started seating themselves because they are just too understaffed. I don't recall my dinner experience being this way but it's definitely something to consider at lunch time, especially if you are on a tight schedule. Ordered Stir-Fried Spicy Thai Basil Lunch using grub hub. I was completely disappointment in what i received. I tried to take this issue up with grub hub and old received a $1.36 refund because this order does not come with rice. The Grub Hub agent sated that since i got an extra item there was nothing o be done. So in reference to the picture, the amount of stir fry present is a lunch portion or they just didn't have enough and added the rice and i hide that. Wow. These entirely vegetables. The chicken pieces are small and very thinly cut. I also had the 6 Cream cheese crab Rangoon's. I can honestly tell you that Panda Express basic Rangoon's are better than theirs. This place is OK. It's a small restaurant in a strip of restaurants. The title is a bit difficult to see from the road but it's beside cibo e beve. Dim inside at night. They can accommodate small to medium parties. They have a regular Thai menu and a small sushi menu. We came with a party of 8 and they were able to seat us relatively easy. We started off with one waitress who said she would be back to take our order but she never returned. Another waitress eventually came to take our order though. I didn't take a picture of all the food, just mine and my boyfriend's. I ordered sea bass teriyaki, and it said it was over a plate of mixed vegetables. I mistakenly expected something akin to a hibachi style mixed veggies plate. Really, it was 5 large slices of squash and a few steamed broccoli with a piece of sea bass on top. The sauce was all on the bottom so I tried to push my food around in it to add flavor to the vegetables. Sea bass was good, but the rest was just something I could've done myself. The rice was a bit dry, even when I added soy sauce. Not what I would expect. We also ordered yakisoba with beef, and the beef was dry also. Kinda hard but flavor was decent. Plate is huge but it's convex (huge outward protrusion in the middle) so you get less than you think you are. Others ordered pad Thai, a beef noodle dish, sunset roll, chicken teriyaki, double shrimp roll, Tokyo fried rice and a basil pork. The rice was for a 5 year old becaue they don't have anything for children or small portions for a child. So you pay an adult meal for your kid to eat 1/5 of it unless you happen to want to eat the same thing. The noodles and pork dishes had way too many onions in my opinion. Every bite had a long slice of onion but the sauces were alright. So that onion tasted good. Also, the waitress we ended up with came by once to fill our drinks with the first appetizer, but didn't fill them again or ask to until she brought the checks. My cup was empty for awhile after the Ice melted. Not exactly worth a repeat trip, but I'm not hungry after dinner nor do I have any leftovers. read more

They just get it here ! Very close to the real thing ( if you ever been to Thailand) the flavors and ingredients are all fresh and compliment the dishes very well. Local Chastain/ Buckhead Thai restaurant off Roswell Rd. across from Kroger in a shopping plaza. Favorite dishes - my go to is the SPICY BASIL NOODLES. I always sub the noodles for the small thin glass noodles as I believe it just makes the dish better. And of course I get Thai HOT! For protein I usual add tofu or shrimp, delish. The Miso soup here is bomb! The perfect taste of the broth and miso paste balance. Also it's vegetarian! Must try's : spicy holy basil , basil fried rice and or the spicy cashew but dish. All of these i rotate as I love all the flavors these dishes bring together. Staff- they are all very friendly and well manned. Bertha is my girl though. The food is good, when you get it. I have been disappointed several times when I have ordered through a third party and the side of rice or a salad is missing or both. I am not sure why there isn't customer service to pack the order correctly. In all three of the incidents where I have had a missing side or two, I have used a different delivery service. I may have found my new favorite Thai restaurant in Atlanta. At the very least, Bangkok Thyme is now up there with my favorites (King and I, Thaicoon). A coworker of mine who lives in Buckhead has recommended Bangkok Thyme to me for years. I always had it in the back of my mind until a LivingSocial deal gave me enough motivation to finally try the place out. The results were nothing short of great. Bangkok Thyme is located on Roswell Road, south of the perimeter, in a shopping center across from Kroger. Inside, from floor to ceiling, you can tell the staff put a lot of thought into decorating the space. It's decidedly Thai with traditional ornate woodwork and elegant tablecloths and pillows. The wooden blades of the ceiling fans are carved to resemble giant leaves. While this place serves both Thai food and sushi, I decided to try only Thai dishes on my first visit. I tried: Vegetarian spring rolls Spicy holy basil chicken Green curry with beef The vegetarian spring rolls consisted of cabbage, carrots, and small clear noodles. They were deep fried and served with plum sauce. These were small, but very tasty. The rolls were crispy and full of flavor. I really liked the holy basil chicken. The dish contained ground chicken stir-fried with holy basil, green beans, bell peppers, and onions in jalapeno sauce. It was served with fried rice that came in the shape of a heart and a Thai-style fried egg (crispy whites, soft yolk). The egg came with a lime-chili-soy dipping sauce, which provided a pleasant tanginess for the plate. The onions were fragrant and each bite was delicious. The green curry was also very good. It was served in a metal bowl with a candle underneath to keep the curry sauce warm. The steamed rice served with this dish came in the shape of a teddy bear. The green curry had an excellent sweet flavor from the coconut milk. I liked it so much that I drank the last few drops of curry directly out of the bowl. Service was excellent. The food came out lightning quick. Three different people attended to us throughout the night and I don't think we could have asked for better or more friendly servers. I look forward to returning here and trying more dishes. If this place continues to impress, I might have to upgrade it to five stars. read more

I love coming here for lunch. It's never too busy and they serve you quickly. I started with the Chicken Coconut soup- it has large mushrooms it with shavings of chicken. It was very smooth and delicate. A great start to my meal. My lunch as a soft shell crab salad- the crab was over fried so it was crunchier than I am used to. It came with red and green grapes, carrot shavings, and romaine salad with ginger dressing on the side. If they can get the crab right, it has lots of potential. My friends got the sushi- its great and fresh. Another friend got the combo: you pick a curry dish, sushi pieces or rolls, edamame and a salad. She loved it. I think I have to give this 5 stars. I had one of the best Thai tea there. It is aromatic without tasting too strong. That was my first experience. Subsequent tries have been disappointing. The food, however, is so flavorful!! Started with the tom yuk that had the right amount of sour for me (I didn't roll the beef around in the sauce before putting it on cabbage). The duck was tender. It had crispy basil which was the most healthy light chips I've ever eaten. The fried rice we got was soft and had several different ingredients. The chef was very generous with the chicken. Lastly, the mango and sweet fried rice was perfect. They used champagne mangos, which are my favorite because they were soft, sweet, and not stringy at all. The rice had a coconut sauce that was not too sweet at all and was very aromatic. Our waitress is wonderful. She is so nice, friendly, and attentive, very hip and cool, too! This restaurant is definitely one of my new favorites on Roswell Road! I found this gem on Scoutmob and decided to give it a try (50% off up to $15 on your check). Boy am I glad we did! The service was spectacular. Someone always came around to refill our drinks before asking, which is also impressive. It was very clean too! Before seating us at the table, someone cleaned not only the table but scrubbed the booth seats as well! We had 3 sushi rolls in total which are listed below. They were all very large and extremely tasty. 1. Hurricane Roll (my personal favorite) 2. Rainbow Supreme Roll 3. Double Shrimp Roll It does get crowded on Fridays and Saturdays so you may want to grab your seat early! They have a sushi menu and a full Thai menu. The place has a quiet and intimate setting. Our server was fast and courteous, and knows the perfect amount of "table visitation." Gratuity is instantly included, but the service was so great we added some more on top of that. Scoutmob honors the lunch combo special which came with either chicken coconut soup, miso soup, or garden salad with ginger dressing. Then, you also get a choice on either 4 pcs of sushi or three pcs of nigiri that comes with salmon, tuna, and white tuna. Then on top of that, you get to choose one out of six lunch entree that comes with a cup of jasmine rice. The selection for your entree included red curry, massaman curry, spicy basil, spicy basil thai style, panang curry, and pad thai. All curries and the spicy basil (both) can offer it in either chicken, beef, pork, or tofu. The plate also comes with a small side dish of fresh cucumber salad with imitation crab meat, mandarin, and tomatoes. THE SIDE ITEMS: Miso soup is simple and light. Nothing really to go crazy about, but delicious nevertheless. Garden salad with ginger dressing was too simple with lettuce, some tomatoes and shredded carrots, and although the ginger dressing was fresh,it had this overwhelming presence that took over the small plate. The fish itself was sliced into perfection: not too little, yet not too thick to overwhelm the delicate sweetness of the small lump of joy that is the jasmine rice. There is a side of REAL wasabi, and I suggest to not even come close to using it all. IN short, just LOVELY! If you are not a sushi fan, I suggest to have your first try in raw fish in this establishment. The raw fish is not fishy at all - as a matter of fact, it is like buttered meat. It was awesome. I had the Massaman and although it was good, I must say I enjoyed hubby's spicy basil with chicken more. They give you an option on the spicyness of the food. The fire eater in me requested for the "true thai spicy" and boy, was I over my head. That thing is beyond fire! HOT HOT HOT and yummy! Although I had to sweat a few thousand calories in between and chugged down a few gallons of water along with some hail marys, I finished the whole dish, and was still very satisfied. SO - STEER CLEAR from the "true thai spicy" option, unless your tongue is five inches thick and numb on four sides. Haha. Otherwise, very delicious, and the spicy basil had that wimsical sweetness from the pepper. The portion on their lunch menu is at it should be. I doubt two people can share the meal. I have no doubt every inch of my meal was made with a touch of love and care, plus the fact that it was only 8 bucks PLUS the scout mob guarantees another 8 bucks on the house, you pretty much can have a cool and quiet, lovely lunch under 15 bucks. Wow! This is the most authentic Asian food I have ever had. I came here with my Dad, and we are 100% going to come back again. To start, we ordered the Tuna Mushi. It's tuna on crispy chips with good seasoning. You get 6 prepared chips. As a main course, I ordered the Spicy Holy Chicken Basil. I cannot rave enough about this dish. When you order, they give you the option to spice it up or keep it tame. I like spicy food to an extent, so I did the tame version and loved it. This place does not deserve one star. Wanted to visit this place because "Atlanta Eats" said it was great food. So I go in on December 3, 2018 for lunch. Was not to busy, I ordered the coconut soup and a sushi roll. What I remember - HORRIBLE SOUP! after to sips it tasted like someone urinated in it and as far as the Sushi roll, was not up to grade at all...! Service was not attentive and sloppy, waiter seemed to have known what kind of product he was serving me and did not care....hearing chatter and laughing in the back waiter/waitress area. It smells so good that I feel like I'm in a aromatherapy spa. The staffs are nice and attentive. They answer all questions you might have. They also serve sushi. I just didn't get a chance to order it today. We always wanted Thai food, and today is my birthday, so why not? We ordered Lemongrass Shrimp Salad "Pla Goong" for appertizer. It consists Glass noodle, peoper, karrir lime, shallots, cashews, cilantros tossed in a Thai spicy lime dressing served with cabbages. It's a little bit spicy and tangy, delicious salad if you like shrimps, glass noodles and tangy sauce. I have the special Spicy Thai Basil Eggplants served with minced chicken. Even if you don't like eggplants, you will still like this dish. It's simple but tasty with bell peppers, chicken, basil leaves, and eggplants. My husband ordered the beef green curry. It's okay actually, not as spicy as I expected but still decent with bamboo shoots, bell peppers, basil leaves, Thai eggplants. If you like spicy authentic green curry, this is probably not for you. Overall, this place is pretty to stop by for Thai food. I still recommend tho! read more
