Cross-section: Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt - Special Combo Cold Cut w/ extra pâté ($8)

4.5 STARS Ask a Viet OG in the city: "Where can I get the most legit bánh mì in the city?" (Spoiler: It's not the wildly popular Saigon Sandwich. While I grew up on their bánh mì and it's a great value, the baguette they use is all wrong.) Answer: Sing Sing Yeaaaars ago, a Viet OG put me on to Sing Sing deep in the TL. He told me their bánh mì are just like the ones back home in Vietnam. When you enter, there's groups of Viet uncs sitting in green plastic lawn chairs chilling and socializing while sipping on their cà phê sữa đá. And, they brought a piece of their TL space to their new space in Laurel Heights/Inner Richmond...those green plastic lawn chairs! Their new space has more seating (8 tables plus window counter seats), much easier street parking, restroom available, and they take CC! And, they remain super wallet-friendly with all their bánh mì: $8 and their cà phê sữa đá: $4. Buy 5 bánh mì, get one free. TIP: Request the veggies/pickled carrots on the side. They'll put them in a baggie so your bánh mì doesn't get soggy. Warm 'em up in the air fryer or toaster oven...lunch for the week, done. F O O D * Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt - Special Combo Cold Cut w/ extra pâté ($8): https://tinyurl.com/3225uvja The toasted baguette has a thin, shatteringly crispy crust with an airy soft interior that's been hollowed out. It's filled with two slices of pork belly, chả (steamed pork sausage), headcheese, pork floss, smear of pâté, creamy viet egg mayo, pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeno....finished with a dash of maggi seasoning and black pepper. All the ingredients were fresh and the cold cuts weren't salty and heavily processed. The fillings could have been layered more evenly but it hit ALL the notes of rich, savory, tangy, and sweet with light spicy kick. S E R V I C E Friendly. There's only one auntie making bánh mì so it may take some time if there's a line. If you're dining in, they'll bring your bánh mì to you and you pay at the register when you're finished. Overall, I'm glad to see Sing Sing reemerge as Bánh Mì A Mui. If you're craving a legit bánh mì, def hit up this humble mom and pop shop.

Newly opened Banh Mi place on Geary in the Laurel/Inner Richmond/Lone Mountain area. This place used to be Just Futon and that closed a while ago, so now it's a banh mi place. Right across the street from Mel's! Banh mi a mui may be related to Sing Sing Sandwich shop formerly in the TL, but I can't be certain. We recently came by to try their Banh Mi sandwiches. The prices are so budget friendly! Incredibly reasonable at $8. Not sure if this price is sustainable, but wow, let's support local so we can have a great sandwich place with such an amazing price! Both the Bánh mì đặc biệt and the Tofu Bánh mì were delicious. Filled with protein, fresh veggies and herbs. Small menu with just a few banh mi selections, but definitely quality. Spacious, clean and comfy interior to eat in and/or take out. Only negative on this recent visit is maybe they are new and still working on how to take orders and making sandwiches as the ordering was slightly chaotic. Even after we ordered, they skipped over us and gave our sandwiches to some people after us and then realizing what happened, they made our sandwiches again, but the bread was half toasted because they were rushing. My suggestion is to take the order, let customers pay, and then assign a number so that everyone is assigned the number in an orderly manner. Or if possible, use TOS so that customers can order on the tablet and they can concentrate on making sandwiches. However I know this can add more expenses for them, but if this support their increased sales in the future, it may be something they can look into. Located on Geary and Beaumont Ave.

Been on a tour of all the banh mi places in Richmond and was excited to try. The meats were definitely sliced thin. I like my meats a little thicker cut to taste it. The bread was not bad, although it was a little crunchier than I prefer. The flavor was good, but I do wish there was a little more filling overall. Next time going to ask for extra pate. For the neighborhood, the price is good and probably one of the cheapest options. Just keep in mind that there's only one person working, so if you come during the lunch rush, the line and wait can get pretty long (waited 30 min). I came on a Wednesday and they were already sold out around 12:30-1 PM, so I'd recommend going earlier if you want to make sure you get one.

If you loved Sing Sing in the TL, you need to check out their brand new spot: Banh Mi A Miu. It's the same owner and the exact same iconic menu, but in a much bigger, more comfortable space! Stopped by on a weekday afternoon and there was zero wait. Even better? Since they just opened, they're running a buy 5, get 1 free deal right now.

I always in a hunt for a good sandwich . One of my favorite types of sandwich is the Banh Mi. San Francisco has lots of places now which offers Banh Mi in almost every neighborhood in the city. You can find Banh Mi to be more favorable and have better nutritional value than most delis sandwiches and also less costly. There is a newer Banh Mi place which just opened this year in the city and its located on Geary boulevard in San Francisco. On a Spring stroll in a cool breeze and with sun out on Geary boulevard I landed at Banh Mi A Mui. Inside there are lots of flowers and plants and a few tables available to dine in. They have a minimalist menu but what stood out was the Vietnamese Head Cheese Sandwich also known as Banh Mi Gio Thu. I had never had cheese in my Banh mi but I soon found out there was no dairy or cheese in the Head Cheese Banh Mi. I thought this sandwich would be cheesy like some deli's in SF. I am glad I ordered it because it was savory and delicious. The baguette was soft and the vegetables were fresh. The meat was soft and overall it was better than expected. This is my new spot to grab a head cheese in SF. When it comes to sandwich and for" Don Juan "for me it's the "Banh" which means bread in Vietnamese and bread in India it's known as "Naan"and in Latin America and in Spanish is also known as "pan"( pronounced in Spanish as Pahn) On Spring stroll in SF enjoy the sun and the "breeze" grabbing one of my favorite sandwiches which is the Banh mi which is "Vietnamese" it may get unwanted crumbs and flakes like some in SF if you give the bread too hard of a "squeeze""this is the first time in SF trying the "Head Cheese"

    Black Ice Coffee($4)(05/11/26)

Was on my morning walk when I noticed that the corner banh mi spot finally had opened today(05/11/2026). Walked in and was warmly welcomed by the staff/owners. The interior was brightly light with a few tables spread through and also counter seating as well. A decently big space fitting maybe 30-40 people. The counter has a cooler where you can see the meats and packaged cha lua in front. There is an open kitchen behind the counter. I placed my ordered and it came out super fast. They currently have a promo like many other Banh mi spots where if you buy 5, you get one free. I ordered a Black Ice Coffee and a Special Combo Banh Mi to go. 1) Black Ice Coffee(7/10)($4) - The staff did warn me that the black coffee was very strong, which is to my liking. It's a strong black coffee with earthy notes and a bit bitter. You get a small cup and it does wake you up for sure. A kin to an espresso shot but a bit less smooth. 2) Special Combination/Dac Biet Banh Mi(7.1/10)($8) - A very good banh mi. The ratio of meats/fillings to bread was really good, didn't feel overly bready and it was a good balance. I personally prefer a bit more pickled veggies and cilantro as it keeps it from feeling too heavy and a slightly less sweeter cha siu/cured pork. The bread was decent - had a crunchy exterior and decent fluffiness. Comes with your typical filling of steamed pork(cha lua), head cheese(gio thu), cured pork(Thit Nguoi), Pork Floss(cha bong), pate, pickled veggies and jalapeños. Overall, a decent Banh mi and for the price of $8, it was super affordable in the city! It won't wow or rival those in San Jose, but still very good especially for a quick lunch that won't break the bank!

A great new addition to the neighborhood. The menu is simple: pick your banh mi and wait at one of the tables or counter. Staff is friendly and explained that they relocated from another long-time location after that building was sold. We had a chicken and a tofu banh mi, both were tasty with fresh bread and a generous amount of filling. For $8, it is hard to go wrong. Next time I want to try the iced coffee, it looked delicious.

Recommended by a friend and was in the area. Parking is pretty easy, metered street parking or I guess you can park in the Mel's diner lot, just across the street. Staff was friendly and place clean. Order 2 sandwiches, #1 combo and #2 pork patty. The jalapeños hit the spot with these sandwiches! There was some meat in the combo that was a tad dry, but I found the sandwiches very tasty overall. Price is good for SF. Currently running a grand opening deal of buy 5 sandwiches get one free. $20 for 2 sandwiches and a Vietnamese coffee! Would def be back to try the other sandwiches!

Was walking across the street and saw the grand opening sign. Decided to walk in and was not disappointed. The menu is simple and priced great for SF standards. I ordered the #1 (Special combination Banh Mi) and a Vietnamese iced coffee cold (you can get it hot as well). The bread was really fresh and the coffee tasted great. I'm sure you can't go wrong ordering anything here. We ordered and sat then they brought out our items. Plenty of seating and music playing in the background, very clean environment as well. They even included free tea! Overall I'd recommend if you're in the area and craving a bahn mi or a Vietnamese coffee!

Omg I'm so happy I found the old sing sing in TL. This new location and name is amazing! Ambiance is beautiful bigger space with lots of lighting and open space with tons of seating. Service is wonderful like before. Always nice and friendly. Food is still the best in San Francisco. I always get the Banh Mi Dac Biet. I feel so much more happy in this location because the old location was full of drugs and homeless people all over the place and there was never a place to park but this place is safe with lots of places to park!

Brand new Banh Mi sandwich shop in the inner Richmond! Fast, cheap, and delicious! Warning, their Vietnamese ice coffee is STRONG!

    Simple menu

It was a hot day. Didn't want anything heavy. This spot hit the spot. $8 sandwiches that are warmed up with crunchy pickled veggies and choice of meat combo. Throw in a small iced black vietnamese coffee for $4 and you've got a light lunch thats tasty, cheap, fast, and revives you. Good is pretty simple and delicious in a non-fancy homemade way. Communication could improve.

They used a strawberry cream top instead of a puree, which I actually enjoyed. It added a nice creaminess to the drink, and the matcha was very smooth and strong. It worked well together. I also tried their double hojicha, and while I enjoyed how nutty and strong the hojicha was, I did find it a little bit grainy. I wish it was a little smoother like the matcha was. I usually don't drink/like coffee, but the guava cold brew sounded so interesting I couldn't resist. The fruity jasmine tea somehow paired so well with the coffee and made it a nice refreshing drink. I was also lucky enough to try the matcha crepe cake, which I believe they get from Lady M. It had really nice layers and was light, but unfortunately it was a little too sweet for me. Overall a very solid matcha/coffee option in SF. They have a beautiful interior too, perfect for catching up with friends. Servers were sweet as well!

When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets.
