My friend and I came to Bantam + Biddy for brunch on a Saturday. We were quickly seated and our waitress was very helpful! I ordered a Crème Brûlée Latte and the Southern Breakfast All Day. The entree came with a variety of items for $16.50, including three eggs, grits, pimento cheese, fried okra, applewood smoked bacon, and jalapeño cornbread. I loved the fried okra, but everything else tasted average to me. My friend ordered the Shrimp and Grits, and she said it was delicious. This down-to-earth unassuming restaurant just served us the most tender, flavorful "Piri Piri" Chicken! They marinate it overnight and then roast it to perfection. As a celiac traveling through the city this was such an amazing find I am envious of the locals. ALL of the sides are gluten free! The fried chicken and shrimp were also gluten free. The Brussels sprouts were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The GF Mac and cheese was buttery and nice. We didn't get the time to return for breakfast the next day but it appears to be a robust GF offering for that as well. I have celiac disease and usually spend the night violently vacating my dinner from restaurants with so called "gluten free options". The service approached the party of 3 with one person on crutches to the back of the restaurant in her section, while major part of the in front tables were available. My son and I visited for breakfast on a Saturday. He had the French toast, eggs and sausage. I had the famous banana bread waffle with 3 chicken tenders. Food was about an 8 out of 10. It was tasty but nothing spectacular. The portions were big and I didn't eat all of my food. Service was poor. We were seated and then ignored for about 10 minutes. I had to finally ask for a server. Not my first visit but, definitely my least favorite. I brought a friend for brunch and hyped it up based on previous experiences. Sadly, our server and food runner/expeditor weren't very pleasant and my friend commented on his perception of the staff including nearly everyone visible as being annoyed they were there and guests were an inconvenience. Like I said, this was a first but we agreed. As for the food... he wasn't happy about his selection; the flavor was off, for him. Very politely, he informed the server. Their breakfast, lunch AND dinner menus all looked amazing and I wanted to try everything. Today I have their brunch a chance. I got an order of fried green tomatoes to start, then the chicken strips, spicy, with the honey Wasabi sauce. My sides were creamy grits and Mac and cheese. All entrées also come with corn bread. All sides and corn bread are gluten free. And the menu doesn't list it, but I also had sweet tea. Guess that's a given at any restaurant in Georgia that sweet tea is available. We were in Atlanta for 48 hours and came here twice so you know we liked this place. Following a gluten free diet, I was excited to come check this place out for the numerous GF entrees and sides. I can never find breaded shrimp or chicken and was pumped to try both. The shrimp was ok but the chicken tenders were my favorite! It was nice as well to choose from ANY side since they are all GF. My favorites were the brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, and sweet potato fries. And the jalapeno corn muffins were amazing. I wish we had this place where we live because I would definitely be a regular. I think their food doesn't taste "gluten free" so even those who do not care about that option can still enjoy the food. We also had great customer service during both visits. I looked at the menu prior to visiting and knew exactly what I wanted. I ordered a mimosa and it was only $5! What a deal in Atlanta and it was in a stemless wine glass so I felt it was worth the price. For my meal I ordered the fresh toast with berries and two eggs. I ordered the Western Omelette: ham, sautéed onions, bell peppers, cheddar cheese, side of the Hatch chili salsa verde with a side of pork sausage instead of grits. When I order to pick up, the food is ready ridiculously fast with no hassle or nonsense. It's mostly allergy friendly, but could do a better job. It's not perfect. It's a bit annoying that I can't order baked goods online. Last time I ate in, I waited 10 whole minutes with an empty plate to get the check. Menu both in person and online tries to be allergy friendly, but it's confusing and inconsistent. If they eliminate tipping and raise their prices accordingly, I'd be there even more.
