Bao'd Up totally hit the spot. This was my first time trying bao buns and I was definitely not let down. The bao arrived still super juicy and packed with flavor, which honestly impressed me because delivery can be risky for food like this. The filling was tender, savory, and really satisfying. The fries were great too and not sad or soggy at all. I always appreciate when fries survive the delivery trip. Little things like that tell me a restaurant treats delivery orders with care, and that really matters to me. I also have to mention the brown sugar boba because it was delicious as heck and the perfect little treat alongside the food. Having boba i as an option with my meal made it feel extra fun and authentic, even just delivered to my door. Overall, a really solid experience and everything showed up tasting amazing. I absolutely olutely love baos, and as someone who eats vegan, they can be surprisingly hard to find--so I was thrilled to discover vegan options here! We tried the spicy tofu bao, which featured a generous tofu patty. While I appreciated the portion size, I felt the ratio of sauce to tofu could be adjusted for more flavor balance. Great dumplings and bao. Having traveled for weeks through Taiwan I can say these are comparable to what you'd encounter in Asia - just a ton more expensive. I really loved the brisket filling and the pork filling. You'll also love the hot chicken option but it comes with way too much cabbage. There are even multi vegetarian options. This is a great filling option at any time of day. There's not much of line because most folks choose other nearby options. Lucky you, this is one of the best food options in Mueller. read more

I only get one thing, but it's worth coming back for: The veggie bao, which rotates randomly, always delivers on being cheap, fast, and deeply satisfying. It's just 3 dollars or so and is a solid little snack that you can grab will walking around the lake. Truly perfect handheld street food. The store is small but you should really get out and enjoy the outdoors anyway. Granted, I'm unreasonably annoyed that additional sauces cost 50 cents, but I know, I need to get over it. The service was a little slow and staff seemed quite overwhelmed at this Bao'd Up location in Mueller. We haven't had similar experience at other Bao'd ups. It took a while for our order but baos were served warm in bamboo containers as usual and tasted good. However, they messed up one of the baos on our order and gave us a different filling. It's a nice place to check out in Mueller. It's the kind of restaurant you go to when you're looking for a small quick meal. Something in between typical fast food and a sit down restaurant. It's clean enough to stay in, but I usually get my food to-go. I have sat outside before, and had a fine time. Order at the counter and you food is ready pretty soon after. It's so good! There are quite a few vegetarian/vegan options which is always great. The tofu bao are so good. I think they're great at satisfying my tummy without weighing me down right after. I have been told by several other folks that the pork bao is also a great option. Hubs said he wants to try a different item the next time we come back. Bao'd Up is a good spot to grab a quick lunch, and then head right back out to your work day. read more

5 star for the service I received today! Wanted to pick up a Fantastic Four set of the pork buns-- since the change in recipe I've been really enjoying the juicier interior with a pan fried bottom. Then I saw that the soup dumplings were discounted for Bao Club members which I had signed up for free a while back. I ordered at the counter because they need to scan the QR code which can't be done at the self checkout kiosks for to go orders. Because the soup dumplings were dine in and the pork buns were to go, we had to place two separate orders. We got out to go order relatively fast since the buns don't appear to be made for order. We sat there patiently for the soup dumpling but after a couple more minutes and a couple of awkward eye contacts with the cashier, she noticed something was wrong. The kitchen didn't see the soup dumpling order so as an apology, she brought out two buns on the house for us to munch on while we waited for the soup buns. Presentations of the buns looked great! Once it came out it was piping out and as you can see in the image, only one bun didn't make it out unscathed. There is a decent amount of soup in there so be cautious of taking a bite or a spoon to the dumplings since the soup will most likely shoot out. The aluminum egg tart containers are also great at holding in the broth. The soup for the soup dumpling had a gingery tang to it and we got it with the chili oil. The chili oil had a lot more oil than chili but I think it did what was expected. One downside was that even though there is a water bar near the restrooms, it was empty when I was trying to get myself a drink to pass my waiting time. I personally don't visit bao'd up too often but now that I've tried their soup dumpling and am finding myself enjoying the 1.50 pork buns more, I might find myself here on more evenings! read more

I ordered online, this is my first time having this kind of food. It is a bit out of my comfort zone. The texture of everything was great, protein flavor was not very bold, I did like how the veggies paired well with the food. The sauces all had bold flavor. Wasabi was very strong. Honey Hoisin Sauce had more of a teriyaki flavor, not very spicy pretty mild, and it didn't have that sweetness teriyaki sauce does. The food is really good, but every time I go there I feel like the staff is passive aggressive or down right not wanting people there. They don't smile and the past few times didn't even let me select my tip. They clicked buttons on the screen quickly when mention of the tip flashed on my side, then it disappears from my screen and then they just showed me my total, so it seems they're choosing the tip amount for me. The younger girl with the long, dyed blonde hair in particular does this. They also kind of slammed my drinks down on the table last time I was there without a word or even looking at me before walking back to the kitchen. I love the Mueller area and like the food here, but I'm tired of how the staff diminish the experience and will probably find another place so I can just bring food to my Mueller walks. Stopped by this fast casual spot on my most recent trip to Mueller. I way impressed by how reasonable their prices are and got the Juicy Pork Bao Basket that came with 2 pork bao and fries for under 6 including tax. The fries were crispy and reminiscent of the Korean BBQ Fries that Shake Shack had for a limited time. The pork bao were pillowy and while I wish the filling was a bit more stuffed, it was good nonetheless. The ordering process on the tablets and text when your order is ready make it a seamless experience. Looking forward to trying some of their boba teas and other combos in future! read more

It's been really cool to watch this place flourish in the years it's been in Mueller. It is a real contribution to the area, both to its nightlife and its daytime buzz. In the evening, you can pop in for a quick bite if you're on your way to a movie but don't have much time. They have snacks and whole meals. If you're on your way to Alamo, park in the garage and get your parking validated at the Alamo's front desk. That will give you free parking while you eat too! Saturdays and market days, Mueller becomes a mobbed frenzy. The crowds around the whole park are incredible, and getting a full restaurant meal requires a really long wait. But Bao'd Up is a lifesaver on those days. Their ordering and check out procedures are fully automated so you can get in and out. You can get your icy boba tea is a real treat when it's hot outside. And when it's cold, a hot bowl of DanDan is pure comfort. When my kiddo has friends over, they like to walk over and have boba and a snack. It has a major cool factor going for it. We recently saw the surprise closing of nearby Halcyon--surprise because they were packed day and night. Business owners say this is a hard neighborhood to operate in. I want to start off by hyping up the people behind the counter. I got there with like 20 min before closing (I know, I'm a bad human), but they were still so cool and chill about helping me out. I didn't feel rushed or anything. I really appreciated that. The bun and boa were fantastic. Not the best I've ever had, but really dang good. The pork in the bun was so tender and juicy, and the bao was a fun bite too. The winner here though is the sauces. So many good sauces to choose from to add to the buns or fries. The restaurant is very clean inside and the employees all seem happy and are helpful. I have tried all 5 flavors of their bao. I would rank them as follows. I like the taste of the Teriyaki Chicken, so that would be my favorite.
