I had a very uncomfortable experience here this morning. While I was paying, I briefly placed my card wallet on the counter. During that short moment, I could feel the cashier staring at it repeatedly, which made me uncomfortable, although I didn't understand why at the time. Shortly after, she looked inside my wallet and commented, "Oh, you don't have a Real ID yet." This was not a situation that required ID verification, and I had never met this cashier before. Having an employee closely examine a customer's card wallet and make personal comments about a private ID felt intrusive and inappropriate. When I expressed that I was uncomfortable, her response was simply, "I saw it because it was visible," which was even more disappointing. I've been a regular customer here, so this experience was especially unfortunate. I hope the staff receives better guidance on respecting customers' personal belongings and privacy. read more

A couple of days ago, I stopped by to buy a single roll of kimbap. There were a few customers ahead of me, so I expected a short wait -- but I ended up standing there for about 15 minutes with no update or acknowledgement from the staff. No one informed me how long the wait would be, and the employees seemed to be working without any sense of responsibility or awareness of the customers waiting. After 15 minutes, I decided to leave without purchasing, and honestly, I don't plan to return. The lack of courtesy and basic customer service was disappointing. Even if someone is only buying one item, they still deserve respect and communication. If you're considering kimbap in the area, I recommend going to Ga Ju Kimbap instead -- they offer much better service and overall experience. read more

Great little fast food shop in the Galleria Groceries in KTown. They have all kinds of treat here. My favorite is the Hwe Dol Bap (sashimi salad) and the taegu kimbop (spicy cuttlefish sushi). Disgusting!! Not only did I find hair in my spicy anchovie kimbop but I saw a small mouse running across their kitchen! Where is the health department! When I called to let the staff know they weren't even apologetic & said its probably my hair? huh? really? I made the kimbop & its rolled into it? Not only are they not sanitary, they r rude too!! They never been overly nice or anything but you don't expect much service when you just call to order togo, pay money and pick your stuff. I don't know if today was just one of those days but it was really bad today....... I call ahead of time to pick up udon. When i get there, its not ready. They didn't even put in order. Well, when it gets busy, it can get hectic. I wait I see one of lady goes out of store to take a break. I been waiting till she came back from her break. We've been coming here since it opened, and when we found out a kimbap place was opening we were excited to try it out. My brother is hooked on the yubu, specifically the spicy tuna yubu. The guy making it is super kind, but i can't say the same about the other women who work there. They always hit my sister with the rudest attitude. The women at the register or who "run the place" are always so prepared to hit people with a hostile attitude! They never want to make the kimbap, or even anything on the menu (fresh). they want you to take the old kimbap that is made in the morning, as they are lazy and don't want to do their jobs. instead, go to witch chicken which is next door for a better meal. Ok, so I see either super positive or super negative ratings for this place. Most of the negs are due to poor customer services, including greetings and communications. I've been using this place along with many other places to purchase lunch for my crew & friends. Please understand that MANY, if not MOST of the low paying employees here do not speak fluent English. Some, very little at all, so they tend to shy away. you might be asking why employee these workers? Because there are NOT too many people who speaks fluent English working for minimum wage. Also, the is Korean supermarket, mostly used by Koreans. So, many of the inside vendors do not want to pay $25/hr for someone who speaks good English. If you keep that in mind, I would say this place deserve 4-stars. It's not super cheap, nor expensive. Just basic Korean rolls & shushi at reasonable price. If you want super nice services, then go to a sushi restaurant and pay 3X more. read more

This is a small kimbap shop inside Galleria Market next to Witch's chicken. They sell a variety of kimbap, noodles, and appetizers (i.e. mandu, fried seaweed rolls). They appear to be making kimbap on the spot but when you order you're directed to ones that have already been made and sitting on the counter. They were probably made earlier in the day but it was a bit misleading. I got the burdock root kimbap for $4.50. It comes with a good amount of filling and tastes decent. To me it tasted like an average kimbap with the convenience factor if you're doing grocery shopping. One thing that I wish they added was extra pickled radish on the side. This is very typical to see when you get kimbap so I was surprised it wasn't part of the purchase or even offered. Overall, this place has decent kimbap but I don't think I would go out of my way for it. read more

Friend and I picked up gimbap for our trip back to the Bay Area as we shopped at the Galleria market. Plenty of options of kimbap and I chose tuna which is my favorite and she got the spam kimbap. For $7 it's a little steep but love that it's freshly made. There's exactly 12 pieces so just a little over a typical roll. There's plenty of ingredients inside and it was really filling. I was surprised at how satisfied I was. I generally don't frequent eateries attached to grocery stores, but this place was pretty damn good! I always test new places on their simplest comfort dishes. Here, it was their version of spam musubi. Their version has a slight twist from what I grew up with in Hawaii, as their rice has an interesting marinade (was it sesame oil?), and the addition of egg, but it was so damn good, my sons and I swallowed 5 of them in just minutes. Their other Gimbap rolls, such as the fish cake, and anchovy rolls, were also good, and they even sold fresh, bottled orange juice (could be a collab with someone else, but SOOO good). I showed up at 8AM and asked if they can roll small/꼬마 gimbap on the menu and the lady in the front , very unpleasant service tone says I have to wait long ... it only had five packs of same gobo/burdock on their display. I bought four packs and asked her to double wrap the plastic bc their thin plastic ripped in the past. She wraps 4 packs in 1 small/thin bag and insisted me to proceed and pay. I have gotten kimbap here before. It's super convenient and I like the choices BUT I had the WORST customer service experience ever! They had a doshirak with mackerel that I hadn't seen before. It had two California rolls on the side. I have a pretty serious shellfish allergy so I asked if the crab "meat" in the roll was authentic. The woman at the counter said, "We don't know that information. We just buy it from our vendors, too." With so many allergies people have nowadays, I would have appreciated a response that was kind, even if she had no information. One other thing, it is pretty scary to think that a restaurant has such little idea about where their ingredients come from. I'll be heading to "The Kimbap" instead. Baro Gimbap is a kimbap spot in the Koreatown Galleria, owned by the same people as the excellent Witch's Chicken. I've never been to Baro, but my mom has picked up dinner for the family from Witch's and Baro several times. The combination of fried chicken and kimbap is one of my favorite lockdown meals. Baro does a wide variety of kimbap, and I've tried several kinds and enjoyed them all. I particularly like the flavorful anchovy and the gyeran mari, which comes with a soft layer of egg wrapped around the seaweed. The odeng and gobo are great, as is the bulgogi. I may be forgetting others, as I've never actually made the order myself, but in any case, everything's good here. There are probably easier places to order kimbap during the pandemic, but if you're already in the Galleria to get groceries, fried chicken, or other provisions, Baro is definitely worth a stop. Why would you ever say no to a tasty roll of kimbap? read more

As a Korean, I'm not much of a kimbap fanatic but my mom made me grab a quick bite before dinner because I didn't eat the entire day. Looked at the options and there isn't really anything that appealing to me especially for the cost. You can find cheaper and better tasting ones at a different place. I got the tuna one which was good but to pay $7 for a kimbap made with a can of tuna isn't really that worth it. Very underrated gimbap shop in ktown. Honestly some of the best gimbap I've had. The quality is there and they have a lot of different combinations. Personally, I've found that 99% of the gimbap I try elsewhere taste pretty similar... but the ones I tried here have definitely stood out. Of course this also goes hand in hand with higher prices relative to other places, but I think it's worth it. The shop is located inside Galleria Market and parking usually isn't terrible in the connecting parking garage. If you go straight through the double doors on the first floor of the garage (ground level where the grocery store is located), you should see this shop at the opposite end towards the back next to a Korean fried chicken place (I'd recommend also grabbing some chicken as they go great together). read more

This is the best Kimbap spot that nobody knows about. It might be the discreet nature of the shop in the galleria market, or the unassuming nature of the packaging. But trust me, this place is good. Get the Anchovie kimbap, egg kimbap, and fish cake kimbap. They're all unique and unlike the kimbap you've tried in the past.
