Hit or miss. Especially drink wise. Not sure how to explain it. Typically a tasty experience food wise. The shaking beef and garlic noodles are our go to entrees whenever we wander to Terranea. And no matter what if you're a sweets person you have to get that bread pudding. It NEVER disappoints. I'd say Bashi is the best flavor wise at the resort. The staff are always attentive and friendly, but this restaurant isn't one that's gonna blow my socks off especially at its heightened price point. Love the resort, but the food is so so. Bashi is great, but the karaoke hosts aren't very good. Came here twice for the karaoke since there's nothing to do around here... both weeks, the Karaoke host(s) skipped us and put the same group of singers on multiple times--before we could even get one song in. We had even given tips to them... not the most professionally run gig. I don't think they understand ROTATION or sound volume. Ended up leaving early after just a few drinks. I could go ON AND ON about this place. Incredible food, the staff is just so friendly, attentive, and kind with the guests. Food comes out timely and is perfect for family style dining, especially with a hungry family like mine. We love the Shaking Beef, Garlic noodles, and Ube Cheesecake - everything is great, and with the shareable plates it's easy to get carried away and try everything. The perfect view of the ocean and resort pool is all you need for a lovely dinner with friends or family. I love Bashi. It deserves all the hype. read more

Unfortunately the happy hour menu was not available at that time as it was a memorial day weekend but usually, they do have a happy hour menu from 3 PM - 6 PM. You know how you start your review "I really wanted to give them 4 stars...."? So I made reservations so some classmates and I can celebrate our 30 years reunion from PVHS (Go SeaKings). The reservations was ready as promised, and the setting was great. Our table was right at the window, so we could see the pool and ocean. Excellent. Our server was excellent, and checked up on us regularly. So really, no fault there. I guess its sticker shock. Outrageous prices for just average Asian food. Yes, its a resort, but I would expect better quality food. For one thing, the fish is farm fresh, not wild. Why should I pay $19 for a tiny bowl of poke and none of the fish choices (you only get 1 fish choice) of tuna, salmon or yellowtail are wild caught. Our server said the portions are "sharable" for 2, but some of the dish offered a toddler could finish it. So for me, spending over $300 for 6 people (if you want to be picky $55 a person including tip) meant expecting more or better, regardless if this is at a hoity toity resort. read more

Love Terranea so decided to give Bashi a try base on the recommendation of their chef Jeffrey Reyes. Foods was surprisingly delicious bc I am seldom a fan of Chinese foods!! We had the shaken beef, garlic noodles, their special for the night "sea bass"(amazing) & walnut shrimp was also very good. Ended the dinner with one of the best bread pudding I've ever eaten. Nicole was our server and she was so great and super attentive and made our experience awesome! The food was fantastic- my mom enjoyed everything and she is a hard critic! I want to preface this by saying that I usually love this restaurant. I've been there so many times and the food is spectacular. However, the service is absolutely horrendous. I made a reservation weeks in advance for a dinner with my family and my family dog. (Mind you, I've been there plenty of times with my dog) The day comes and we drove TWO HOURS and waited for THREE HOURS for the restaurant to open and when the time comes for our reservation, they inform us that that same week they had changed their policy and dogs are no longer allowed and they didn't notify us beforehand. Therefore, we had to leave without anything. Not a voucher, absolutely nothing. They didn't even validate our parking. When fish tastes fishy...that means it's bad. The sushi roll that I got was the spicy yellowtail roll and it literally knocked the wind out of me because of how incredibly fishy it was and I'm not exaggerating. I have had better sushi at grocery stores. Garlic noodles plain looking and tasting with a pool of liquid on the bottom. Kimchi fried rice with lobster was pretty good just don't expect there to be more than 3 pieces of lobster and the lobster is butchered you can't tell if it's lobster or kimchi. The only nice thing is the ambience obviously since the ocean is right there. They should be embarrassed serving food like that for people who are paying $700 a night to stay at their resort. Amazing! Great food, ridiculous ambience, and top notch service. We ate here multiple times during our trip and savored every moment. Came for a group reservation. No more than 6 per table so our group split into two. I was skeptical of the food based on all the reviews before coming. The menu is very limited. We ordered the poke salad bowl and garlic fried noodles with shrimp. Both were fantastic. Noodles were soft and chewy. The shrimps were large, deveined, clean and cooked perfectly. The poke bowl seemed Americanized but was still delicious. Also ordered a bashi mule? Sorry I forgot the name but it was their take on a Moscow mule and also got a bashito. Maybe it was those chicken dumplings and shrimp dumplings that I had from our work conference's last night dinner, but wow I totally forgot my own rule about Asian fusion: DON'T TRUST ASIAN FUSION. I'll give credit where credit is due. The salt and pepper shrimp was fried pretty well, although come on honestly...if there's one thing that it's nearly impossible to mess up, it's a fry-up. Lobster udon was pretty good, but more so for the fact that they used an entire lobster tail. Udon itself was really salty and the sauce was off. Now for the sizzling shaking beef and hoisin glazed spare ribs. The actual quality of the beef was great, but man whatever sauce they used was so unauthentic that I was over it after two bits. Same for the spare ribs; at least they had a lot of meat on the bones. It's one thing to not use MSG, but overdosing on sodium isn't an acceptable alternative either. Service was a bit lacking, but that was moreso because it seemed like everyone from my work conference was at the restaurant on this particular night. This place is in Teranea Resort Hotel. We went there the first night we stayed. We were very tired and didn't want oily foods. That is why we chose asian food. They have sushi but not traditional one. Toro Taku here was different from authentic sushi place. It doesn't mean it is bad, it was ok! And price here is very reasonable and I was so surprised when I see the bill even though restaurant is inside the luxury resort hotel. I wish I could give 0 stars. What a horrific experience. our server was beyond aloof. She had no consideration or care for our party of 7 celebrating my mothers birthday. I realized why at the end of the night. Any party of 6 or more automatically is a "large party" and guarantees her a large tip! NO wonder she was barely available. No refills, not around to clear plates, not around to clarify orders, not around to provide a dessert menu. Also she took my wine glass without asking and there was still wine in it. Just awful. To top it all off. She was standing just outside the restaurant petting a large dog that was there and then came in to continue working WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS!!!! The calamari was chewy but lightly breaded and still good and hot. I was expecting them to have better calamari. The sushi was really good! I really enjoyed the caterpillar roll(spicy tune with avocado and crab) and the shrimp tempura roll was also very good. The crab was actually real and fresh and the tuna was some of the best I've ever had. If I had to rate solely on the sushi they would get 5 stars. The happy hour specials are really good! It's 1/2 off any roll (pcs not hand roll). And the calamari was only $10. Happy hour is from 4-6 on weekdays which is perfect bc you catch sunset and there's usually no rush so it's perfect for Moms like me who just want some darn good sushi that's not prepackaged and who just want a quiet place with a nice view while their kid is napping in their stroller. Also I took out my friend and I wanted them to surprise her with a dessert I wouldn't have minded it if I had to pay for it but the server completely ruined it and spoke about it in front of her. That was a bummer. Anyways our bill was $46.00 for -caterpillar roll(amazing! Must try!) -shrimp tempura roll (really good!) -shrimp garlic noodles(I'm not sure what it was about them but maybe the noodles were fresh and thick so the texture was really interesting and hard. I've been here 3 times so far. Recently went on a double date with a friends who were visiting from out of town. We all loved it! One of my friends is Japanese and enjoyed the sushi. I think this place does a good job for Asian fusion. The fish selection isn't as various as a typical sushi restaurant but tasted good quality and delicious. We shared a bunch of sushi rolls, drinks, and an order of walnut shrimp. I love the cantaloupe(I think that's what it was) they added in the walnut shrimp dish. They had a surf and turf roll my friends loved. Drinks were nice but i did think the whiskey sour they had wasn't strong enough. Service was excellent and the restaurant accommodated us when we were 30 mins late. Quick service too when we went. Everything is shareable! For dessert we ordered bread pudding. My friend said it was so amazing and delicious but the critique I have for it is it wasn't warm enough to my liking. I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Bashi. I had just checked into the hotel and was feeling tired and hungry. I thought sushi might hit the spot for a quick dinner before I could retire to my room. Man, was I wrong about quick. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered some nigiri and a roll. I thought I would start there and then order more later. That was a mistake. A couple sat down next to me after I ordered, and their food arrived soon thereafter. The dude looked and talked like an overweight Rick Moranis. That's neither here nor there, but seeing his resemblance to Rick Moranis was really the highlight of my experience at Bashi. Anyway, I must have looked a bit perplexed that my food hadn't yet showed up, because the very nice bartender came over and told me that the sushi is backed up, and that my order should come out shortly. My nigiri did show up shortly after that, but the server tried to give it to Rick Moranis. I had to intervene and say that it was mine. The nigiri was ok, but not great, and I was still waiting on my roll. I decided to order some chicken dumplings, thinking that a non-sushi order would come out faster. Wrong again. At this point, the couple who sat down next to me had finished their entire dinner, settled the bill, and left the restaurant to go shrink their kids or something. My dumplings finally come out. They were...not good. Think of minced chicken in deep fried wonton wrappers doused with soy and sugar. They were slightly less Asian than David Carradine. They made Panda Express seem totally legit. After choking those abominations down, I kept waiting for my sushi roll to show up. I looked around the dining room and saw tables of people enjoying sushi - all of whom came to the restaurant after I had ordered. I asked the bartender if my order was given to the wrong table by accident, and she assured me that it was not the case. I'm not a restaurant manager or anything, but how are people who ordered after me enjoying their sushi before me? Maybe I just need to go to culinary school to unravel that mystery. Anyway, I'm assuming the restaurant messed something up, because she removed the dumplings and my roll from the bill. I ended up just wanting to get the hell out of there, so I settled the bill and took my roll back to my room in a to-go bag. Big surprise, it didn't taste that good. In short, my evening was a series of mistakes. First mistake was going to Bashi. Second mistake was thinking that ordering some sushi would be a quick and painless experience. Third mistake was ordering those David Carradine dumplings in the first place. Fourth mistake was thinking that the dumplings would come out quickly. Maybe I'll make some more mistakes tonight.
