Super tasty. We ordered pancit bichon, pancit canton, garlic butter shrimp, and lumpia. We were warned the pancit bowls were large and they weren't wrong! Each pancit bowl could have fed 3-4 people. Both were seasoned perfectly. The only thing that might have needed improvement were the lumpia. They were overcooked, almost burnt. And to me we're way too salty. I wish they had banana sauce. A family-owned business where warmth & sincerity were deeply felt as they welcomed their customers, taking the orders & serving their food. The chef & staff were kind enough to connect through a simple chat wearing that bright smile despite a long day. When it comes to quality of food, we got the main feature, Batchoy or La Paz Batchoy, a popular noodle dish originated in La Paz, Iloilo (a highly urbanized city in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines) with its main ingredients are pork offal like spleen, kidneys and liver. The broth itself had the right thickness, very tasty & not oily. An evidence that the meat or bones were boiled long enough to bring out its richness. Noodles were cooked just right as it mingles with other ingredients topped with chicharrones (pork cracklings), green onions & lots of fried garlic creating the perfect aroma. The only thing I noticed was the slices of liver were overcooked giving a chalky or powdery feel to my palate. Fried rolls in 4-6 pieces about an inch long were so addicting that one serving might not be sufficient to satisfy your hunger or craving. It's rare in the 805 to have filipino cusine restaurants available to go to. I was excited to see one pop up and even more excited that it popped up in the city I reside in! The food was phenomenal, Batchoyan's original batchoy was worth waiting for during the soft opening. It had the staple hearty ingredients i was expecting it to have in my bowl and it took me back to the first time i had it which then I was still a child. The portion is huge, so you don't have to worry with just being content, I had to take my broth back home. all in all the food had the filipino soul and was definitely cooked with some love. It only had a little bit of the ube and few pieces of red beans and found 1 very small cube of langka. Lucky enough to have an ice cream on top with cornflakes pieces. Delicious food. My fave are their pata soup on weekends, the crispy pata and most especially the batchoy -- it is the best! Portions are big enough to share. My drive from LA is so worth it. Tips to other customers: It could get really busy at times especially during peak hours so just be patient and understanding. The amount you get for a pound is well accurate. No bones included on the serving so you are not cheated for the weight.
