On our way home from NorCal and my parents wanted to stop by this family owned restaurant to get batchoy (Filipino noodle soup from the province of Iloilo). For a Tuesday lunch, it was pretty quiet. Their menu is small and fairly easy to navigate, although most of the items were unavailable. The batchoy - the original has pork liver and stomach, but you can opt to just get the batchoy without those. Unfortunately, they didn't have the pork batchoy without those so we had to get the beef one. The batchoy was good, it is close enough to the original. We also ordered some ala carte items - lechon kawali & grilled pork belly which were both really good, the garlic rice was okay. We also did some of their combos. The condiment station was okay but there were some dead fruit flies inside the bottles. Service took a little while but made sense after we found out they were short staffed that day. Owner Mike & staff are very friendly. A little on the pricier side for Filipino food but otherwise, nice little pit stop for lunch.

You call it BATCHOY..i call it "Best-Choice"..

4 stars for now..the Batchoy itself is 5 stars as per US standards (i can't complain) ..it gives me nostalgia every single time i take a sip of that soup..reminds me of something nice and simple yet filled with good memories..then you pair it with rice cake..just a perfect blend of saltiness from the soup and the sweetness of the rice cake makes your palate jumps excitedly..the explosion of flavors makes your taste buds overwhelmed yet able to comprehend..you savor every spoonful and every time you chew on that noodles with the stuff that goes with it, it gives you the feeling of satisfaction wherein you can say "it's worth the drive from LA"..4 stars because i haven't tasted the other stuff yet but undoubtedly i will comeback pretty soon..will definitely recommend..

February 2021 was the time we visited Batchoyan Ilonggo Restaurant. Yup, we were there during those awful Covid times. The times where we were still required to wear face masks. Filipino food was what the family wanted. So we made our way to Batchoyan Ilonggo Restaurant since we were in the Camarillo area. We ordered our food to go. Batchoy, Pancit, and Lechon Kawali were the main entrees we purchased. For dessert, we tried their Bibingka and their steamed Rice cake (I'm not going to say the Filipino word for it because in Spanish that word means something else). All the food we tried was delicious. We will have to return one of these days. I'm sure we will sometime.

Ilonggo Foodie-Style We revisited Batchoyan, and it's still amazing -- even after a 1.5-hour drive! The batchoy has that rich, savory broth we Ilonggos love -- comforting, flavorful, and just right. My son had the pork belly barbecue, perfectly tender with that sweet-savory kick. The puto is soft, fluffy, and the perfect companion to the batchoy. Plus, the owner Mike and his staff are so friendly, making every visit even better. Authentic comfort food worth every mile!

My wife and I were here with 6 others for lunch. We ordered about 6 dishes and had enough that each of us took a little home. Food was very good. Service was good. You have to order at the counter and then take the food to your table later. One thing that was annoying - outside door got stuck quite a few times, and wouldn't close. Thus, cold air came blowing in frequently and restaurant was chilly. We were fortunate in that we had brought jackets along.

We went here yesterday as I was really craving for Filipino food and the reviews looks legit but I was very disappointed and wished we never came here. Please never come here! We ordered their special beef batchoy and lechon pares and it was awful. We wasted $52 for all, everything we just to ate one or two bites and left everything at our table, we did not even bother to take it to go because it's awfully soooo sweet, bland and it's very unappetizing! It looked great but tastes awful! It's very hard to swallow! She said I made a good choice of my order and if that was their good choice i don't know anymore how else is the rest of their food. Take note: Their door is very loud too, it slams every time theirs a customer who comes in and out, it's very annoying and it hurts the ear. I would NEVER recommend! 0-10!!

To see if Popeyes tastes better in its home country, I bought some to try. Hmm, it's just as good as what I usually eat, nothing special. The food quality control is definitely on point

    Pancit, lechon

Super hearty batchoy that was perfect for the cold weather months when I wanted more meat than pho. Soup is on the sweeter side but they make up for it with the heaps of garlic! Pancit is great, as is the lechon.

Receipt and wrong order, is this looks like sotanghon?
    Leo A.

I ordered pancit sotanghon and they give me pancit bihon which is cheaper the price .

Original Batchoy with egg and Putos on the side.

I had ordered some A La Carte items from Batchoyan Ilonggo for larger gatherings before, but didn't give myself the time to sit down and have a bowl of their batchoy, and it felt wrong to review the place without tasting the plate that it's named after (although my review would have been 5 stars regardless). This afternoon I finally did. The lady working the front was very friendly and helpful, as I was not sure what to order with my original batchoy. Per her recommendation, I ended up getting an order of putos, and I have to say, the rich savory flavor of the batchoy combined with the tender sweetness of the puto is a winning combination. The restaurant itself is always impeccable, with ample room between the tables so even at full capacity it wouldn't feel crowded. That, combined with the restaurant working on a buzzer system makes for a very peaceful environment for a meal. I will certainly keep coming back!

Very nice Filipino restaurant! Employees were VERY nice and restaurant was spic and span! Garlic rice was 10/10, pork lumpia was so good the picky child gives it a 10/10, canton pancit was good as well. I'm glad we visited!

I've been wanting to try them out since they opened but didn't get a chance to till now. First time trying bitchoyan and sad to say I'm not really a fan. There was way too much soup for my liking . Seemed like they were trying to make it look like a bigger bowl than it was (I'm not sure). Noodles were a great consistency. Sliced eggs weren't too bad (**egg was additional). I like the idea of the chichiron in the soup for the added texture but it ended up making the soup way too greasy. Which made it was hard to enjoy for my liking. Maybe that's how it's meant to be, I'm not sure. The restaurant is very spacious. Dining area is kept clean . But the restroom has a funky smell.

This restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly. Seems like there's only indoor seating at this eatery. We ordered a Holiday Filipino ham to go. Tastes so good. Something special to add for the holiday menu.

Each dish pictured here was about $10-12 and the portions are huge! Seriously, if I was still a student here I'd be going here every week because I'd have enough food for three days. Now for the quality of the food... each dish was great. The chow mein, which included chicken and shrimp, was awesome. Seasoned nicely and not too greasy. The orange chicken, which looked and tasted a bit more like sweet and sour chicken (not mad about that!), was also very good and retained its crispiness. The fried rice, which is what my wife ordered, was good, kinda soy sauce heavy but it had a nice flavor overall. (Tbh idk why but I've never been a huge fan of fried rice).

Inside the restaurant, the ambiance is casual. I ordered the Juicy pork dumpling($10.99 ) and Milk tea with boba ($4.49). The dumplings were very juicy and a little sweet. That would be nice if they had some ginger slices and black vinegar for the dumplings. About boba tea, it's good. I prefer the tea to be stronger. Boba tea was warm, which means it's fresh, but needed more ice. They always serve in to-go containers. This place is good for friends, couples, and families. Parking is in front of the restaurant.

I figured we would get something that I could tolerate and it would be okay - generic dining. I did not expect to actually have something to write about. But I was wrong. The grilled chicken they serve with the Chaufa is very nicely seasoned. It is bits of breast meat, grilled with a little char and adds depth to the otherwise mild flavor of the rice dish. My husband had Chaufa with shrimp, which I didn't sample but he ate the entire meal without complaint. We ordered the pork belly bites to start. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I enjoyed this appetizer so much that I know I will order it again. If I have the chaufa again, I would definitely have it with the pork belly. I ordered the lemonade and was puckering in a good way. Honestly, it tasted more like limeade than lemon. I was happy it wasn't too sweet because I could really enjoy the refreshing citrus flavors. I would go there just for a lemonade. They serve it icy cold in mug style, mason jar glass. Our friend ordered the iced tea and when it arrived. I was pleasantly surprised by the look of the fresh fruit in the clear glass, frosted over from the cold and ice. So nice. He said the herbs and fruit were a good combination. The wife of the owner waited on us. She is understated, friendly and efficient. We didn't have much of a wait as it looked as though we might have just missed the breakfast/brunch rush. I was impressed with how quickly we received our food. If we hadn't just eaten there a couple days ago, I would have gone to Azafran for dinner tonight. I look forward to making it a favorite local place where I can introduce our visitors to a good neighborhood restaurant.

To me, that is what pound cake is supposed to be: simple, flavorful, comforting, and made with care. LEMON IN THE TITLE (NO SO MUCH IN THE CAKE) Unfortunately, the lemon pound cake I purchased today for over $15 did not come close to that standard. The color, flavor, and dense, bready interior all pointed to a missed opportunity. I was especially disappointed that the lemon flavor lacked brightness. There was no real sense of lemon zest in the cake or icing, which is what gives a lemon pound cake its character and lift. ICING - EPIC UNDERPERFORMANCE The icing also fell flat. Instead of tasting like a thoughtful glaze or cream cheese-style icing infused with lemon, it came across more like powdered sugar and water sitting on top of the cake. It checked the box visually, but it did not enliven the cake or the senses. NO FUTURE SALE HERE (UNLESS THE PRODUCT IMPROVES) For $15, I should have been excited to come back for another one and maybe pick one up for a friend. Sadly, that was not the case. I would love to see this store put more care into honoring the pound cake tradition with excellence, because pound cake lovers know the difference.

We always request outdoor seating on the right side of the patio to accommodate our dog. Upon arrival, the hostess refused to seat us in that area, claiming it was fully booked for other parties. It was clear to us that the area was not reserved, as there were no reservation markers on the tables. We had booked our table specifically to ensure we would have an appropriate spot for our needs. Despite our existing reservation and the availability of the tables, the hostess remained inflexible and unhelpful. Because of this experience and the poor treatment we received, we have decided that we will not be returning to your restaurant in the future, nor will we be recommending your establishment to others. It is a shame that the behavior of one staff member has resulted in the loss of loyal, recurring customers. I believe it is important for you to be aware of why you are losing business, as this was entirely preventable.
